The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly attracting attention. The purpose of the article is to present the results of a bibliometric analysis of the document flow on this topic. For the study, various scientometric data from the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) for 2001–2023 are used. The analysis showed the following. In Russia the growth of document flow began in 2016. The most cited publications are both monographs and articles. The vast majority of names named in the ranking are young people who have published their first works in the year of getting into the rating or1-3 years before that, but the authors with the most citations are not those actively publishing. The authors, organizations and leading sources of information are named. The breadth of the topic AI indicates a transition from the general fundamentals and understanding of the topic to specific developments used in a certain field of activity, but the library aspect in AI is practically not developed. In recent years, there have been reports on AI that are reflected in collections of conference proceedings, but scientific articles can be found in the ranking for each year.

Library science. Information resources - Abstract
The development of digital technologies, which provide unprecedented growth in labor productivity, leads to the depreciation of material goods, resulting in the loss of habitual life guidelines for an ever-expanding share of the planet’s population. The purpose of the article is to determine the directions for transforming the activities of a public library, basing on the analysis of the current needs of residents of highly developed countries. Public library, in the author opinion, should become a place where each user will have the opportunity to come to a deep understanding of their own existence, discover talents and gain a stable life position through integration into intellectual and creative activity. The idea of mandatory gradualism – “step-by-step” nature of this process is drawn from the creative heritage of N. A. Rubakin and A. A. Pokrovsky, who developed and put into practice the “theory of bridges” – an approach to the work of libraries that involved the gradual development of reading taste, ultimately aimed at the development of a harmonious personality. The author comes to the conclusion that the current task of libraries is to build bridges from primitive forms of creative activity to more and more meaningful and complicated one with the ultimate goal of leading each user to independent conscious creativity that helps to demonstrate all person’s abilities. As an example, the author provides the list of library services designed to work with segments of the teenage audience identified on the basis of “lifestyle,” which will allow them to unlock the potential of young users and help them to achieve intellectual and creative self-realization.

Social networks are one of the platforms for posting official content and interacting with users, as well as providing remote access to information resources. The purpose of analyzing the content of communities in the VKontakte social network of the Oryol regional libraries (public, children’s and special) was to identify the structure and typology of communities, their characteristic features, and types of labels. The reason for choosing the accounts of regional libraries as the object of research was the social function they perform: regional libraries are the flagships of the development of the library system of a certain territory. The popularity of publications in communities was measured using the Engagement Rate coefficient. A direct correlation has been revealed between the type of publication and its popularity: the more popular the publication, the more publications of this type are posted in the community. For more effective functioning of library communities, it is necessary to develop a content plan that is based on the theory of management and marketing of social networks.

The relevance of the practical application of the theory of generations by N. Howe and W. Strauss in the context of digitalization is revealed. The purpose of the article is to analyze the capabilities of electronic library systems as didactic tools designed to promote the development of the cognitive abilities of the digital generation. The results of the study conducted at the Center for Interdisciplinary Cultural Studies of the Moscow State Institute of Culture are presented. The emergence of electronic library systems is characterized as a reaction to the redundancy and unreliability of information in the Internet environment. The phenomenon of the digital generation is analyzed, the maturation and socialization of which occur under the rapid penetration of digital technologies into all spheres of life of a modern person: leisure, everyday life, study, work. Representatives of this digital generation are integrated into digital society from their birth, so they have views, attitudes and values that differ from the worldview of older generations. The distinctive features and problems of developing the cognitive abilities of Z generation are considered. The results of the study of electronic educational systems “Urayt”, “Lan”, “Rukont”, “University Library Online”, “IPR Smart” are presented from the perspective of digital didactics. Violations of the didactic principles of systematic, scientific character, and clarity are identified. Recommendations are formulated for teachers and librarians on the specifics of working with Z generation.

The relevance of the study is related to the need to assess the level of development of scientific knowledge and the degree of development of individual scientific problems in the field of agricultural economics. The purpose of this work is to study the dynamics of the number of publications in the field of agricultural economics in Russia and highlight their main topics. The main research method is content analysis within the bibliometric research. The results indicate great attention of scientists to various aspects of agricultural economics. However, from 2019 to 2023, the number of publications devoted to agricultural economics decreases. During the period under review, researchers pay the greatest attention to the following topics: “Accounting and analysis of economic activities”, “Financing and lending. Investments”. As the content analysis has shown, a significant number of publications are devoted to the problems of ensuring food security and sustainable development; innovative technologies, including digital ones; development of rural areas; issues related to government support and government regulation, productivity, competitiveness, small business, organic agriculture, investment, efficiency and agricultural management. At the same time, there is a relatively small number of publications devoted to pricing and labor resources, despite the relevance of these topics. In some years, there is a sharp increase in the number of publications on some topics. Thus, in 2019, the attention of researchers was as attracted by the topic of accounts payable and receivable, in 2020–2022 – programs for the development and support of agriculture, in 2020 and in 2023 – automation, in 2022 – import substitution. In 2021, there began to appear publications on the pandemic and unmanned technologies, and in 2023 – on artificial intelligence. Based on the calculation of the TF-IDF measure, it is concluded that there is greater similarity between the topics of publications in adjacent years than in non-adjacent ones. The results obtained can be used to plan the topics of research work.

The concept of “book culture”, which entered the domestic book-study discourse in the 1980s, is currently one of the central ones for both historical-book and theoretical-book studies. However, it has not yet received a conventional definition in Russian science. The purpose of the article is to formulate a definition of book culture based on the interpretative theory of culture and theoretical and methodological achievements of medialogy dominating in modern socio-humanitarian knowledge. The authors show the general theoretical context of the formation of the concept of “book culture”. The necessity of a pragmatic turn in theoretical book studies is substantiated. The possibilities of theoretical models of the media researcher G.M. McLuhan and the historian of the printed book R. Darnton for the interpretation of the concept of “book culture” are revealed. The author offers his own definition of book culture as a space of communication between various social actors, mediated by materialized texts broadcasting socially significant information.

The purpose of the study is to theoretically and practically substantiate the need to introduce an online news information system into library practice as part of the information support of scientific activities (on the example of Open Science). The work theoretically substantiates that improving the news information system in libraries is necessary in connection with the development of technology, open science, library activities and the rapid growth of disparate sources of information. The experience analysis of 130 libraries in presenting various news information products has led to the conclusion that the implementation of news information requires appropriate technology that would allow us to model the sequence of processes and operations for generating news library and information products. As a result the model of a news information system on open science is developed, which allows searching, collecting, processing, and synthesizing news information on open science, as well as creating, posting and distributing information products, their qualitative and quantitative assessment of effectiveness to be made. It has been implemented on the web platform of the State Public Library for Science and Technology of the Siberian Branch of RAS “Library for Open Science” in January 2023 and demonstrates a gradual increase in the number of all web analytical indicators of news information products created on its basis.

The poster session has become one of the types of professional events (congresses, conferences, seminars, etc.). Despite the long-term discussions about the poster as an effective tool in the scholarly communication and its comparison with the abstract it has not studied as a product of analytical and synthetic information processing. The purpose of this article is to consider theoretical questions about the poster as an information product. The traditional structure of the poster is similar to the structure of a research article (introduction, methods, results, discussion) with the only difference – the poster presents these elements in compressed form, as well as in an abstract. The article gives a comparative analysis of the poster and abstract. It shows that such features of the abstract as information content, high semantic capacity, accurate reflection of the main actual information and conclusions, etc., are characteristic of posters as well. It concludes that summarizing the results of the analytical and synthetic processing of information in the poster allows its considering as one of the types of information products and libraries can include posters in the list of their information products/services. In order to create posters, such skills as compression of information, data visualization, communicative skills, research skills and critical thinking, as well as mastering technical tools, which are in demand in the market today and are reflected in the professional standard “Specialist in Library and Information Activities”. Their development can be made by poster technology, which is already lately implemented at the Library and Information Department of the St. Petersburg State Institute of Culture.

Academic Journal Predatory Checking ,Beall’s list ,Academies and learned societies ,AS1-945 ,Bibliography. Library science. Information resources - Abstract
Although predatory publishers are increasingly recognized, universally accepted criteria for defining predatory journals are lacking. These journals challenge the scholarly community by blurring the line between legitimate and questionable publishing practices. Several lists and reports of predatory journals have been published, which offer valuable insights; however, they are not devoid of criticism. Beall’s list, although criticized for its inclusion criteria, is currently managed anony-mously and updated infrequently. Cabells’ list uses an extensive array of inclusion criteria, some of which are similar to those used in Beall’s list. Several of these cri-teria are redundant and fail to detect predatory practices, and using all of them in evaluating a journal is seldom practicable. Kscien’s list has emerged as a promising alternative for identifying predatory publishers or journals. However, it requires refinement, potentially through creating a distinct list supported by unequivocal evidence, such as accepting a fake manuscript (ascertained through a sting opera-tion). The present review seeks to catalyze research on identifying predatory jour-nals and publishers by comparing existing lists and suggesting new techniques for detecting predatory practices.

The open access movement has drastically reconfigured the financial burdens of scholarly publishing. Yet, the influence of a marketized scholarly publishing system on doctoral education remains unexplored. I reflect on my own PhD candidature to illustrate how article processing charges disempower doctoral candidates. I argue that the current open access publishing model unfairly advantages candidates with personal, familial and/or institutional wealth. The inequalities imposed on doctoral students by our sectors’ current publishing habits ultimately bias who will be paid to produce and safeguard knowledge in the future. Doctoral students can no longer be ignored in debates over open access publishing.

During the Middle Ages, confraternities of blind people began to emerge in many Italian cities. Later recognised by local authorities and the Roman Church, they ensured that blind people were aided in case of poverty, sickness or death, also providing formal permission to beg on the street and other designated places. These special privileges existed alongside indulgences granted to those (whether visually impaired or sighted) who attended religious functions celebrated by the blind on particular days. This article analyses how these blind individuals used a variety of printed material to promote such indulgences, as well as other activities of their confraternities within and outside their cities.

In 1792, in Rome, the Dutch collector Thomas Hope commissioned the first exclusively illustrated edition of the Divine Comedy to the English artist John Flaxman. The first publication, limited and for private circulation, was distributed by the engraver Tommaso Piroli’s workshop in July 1793, and Hope, holder of the rights, forbade the printing of further copies. However, in 1802, Piroli repurposed the engravings from Flaxman’s illustrations for a new edition which was distributed throughout Europe, immensly successful as evidenced by the editions of the Comedy in the first 19th century in which they were included. The collaboration between Flaxman and Piroli, their relationship with Hope and the history of this illustrated Comedia, born from a rigorous neoclassical theory on the relationship between poetry and art, establish themselves as a living testimony of Dante’s reception between the 18th and 19th centuries through a study of the dynamics in book market.

The article presents an unpublished cycle of choir books written and illuminated at the end of XVI Century for the Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria del Monte, believed to be lost. The volumes were taken from the Abbey during the suppressions of religious orders, eventually being forgotten in the storage of the Biblioteca Malatestiana. The production of liturgic books in the late Renaissance is studied on the basis of the documents in the State Archive and the signatures of scribes and artists hidden in the pen flourished initials. A new artist is discovered, Ignazio da Otranto, co-authoring these books with his confrere Serafino. The relationships between this cycle and others in the Benedictine Roman Province during the XVIth and XVIIth centuries are investigated, throwing light on the exchanges among the Cesena Abbey and the Abbeys in Ravenna, Subiaco and Farfa.

Antonino Mongitore (1633-1743) was a scholar and bibliographer, who trained at the Jesuit College of Palermo then he was ordained a priest in 1687. Fellow and founder of numerous academies, he was involved, mainly, in city history and hagiography. His Bibliotheca Sicula is a well-known bio-bibliographical repertory published in two volumes, the former in 1707, the latter in 1714. This paper originated from the finding in the State Archives of Palermo of the inventory of its library, full of 2775 editions, examined according to the quantitative method. An initial analysis of this document and the study of further sources allow us to broaden this Sicilian priest's cultural profile and interests.

This essay reconstructs the history of Giulia Napoleone's art books, small volumes in single copies with poems transcribed by hand and illustrated with various techniques: a exercise which began in 1963 and which the public was able to get to know for the first time during the 2017 exhibition at the Central Institute of Graphics (Istituto Centrale per la Grafica), following a major donation from the Artist. These books testify to the special relationship that Giulia Napoleone has always had with poetry, a source of inspiration and reciprocity even for larger works, such as pictorial cycles or monographic exhibitions, which go beyond the book form. At the same time, these small private books are also seen as germinal cells of the larger books, printed in a limited number of copies by reputable international art publishers, and distinguished by an iconographic apparatus including unique engravings which vary from copy to copy.

Background: Improving inclusiveness in mental health research merits attention as we seek to reduce inequalities in mental health. Academic journals can promote inclusiveness through editorial practices related to the selection of content and the composition of journal editorial boards. Objectives: To investigate the attitudes, awareness, and actions of journal editors concerning inclusiveness in mental health research and editorial practices. Methods: We surveyed 74 chief and senior editors, representing 55 prominent journals in neuroscience, psychiatry, and psychology (2021 impact factor M = 8.04, SD = 10.76). Results: Most respondents (74–99%) acknowledged the importance of inclusiveness in mental health research, and a majority (62–78%) were familiar with existing guidelines. Half or fewer of the journals (49–50%) had policies for selecting content that is diverse, and 20% had policies regarding inclusion of individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges. Well over half the journals (57–72%) had policies to widen diversity among their editorial boards and roughly half (43–53%) among peer reviewers, although only a few (18–23%) included among their editors or peer reviewers individuals with lived experience of dealing with mental health challenges. Conclusions: This study highlighted an intention-action gap, with positive attitudes and awareness but limited editorial practices promoting inclusiveness in mental health research. Inclusion of individuals with lived experience emerged as an area in particular need of improvement. We discuss potential strategies that journals might consider to foster inclusiveness, such as diversity training, publication checklists, and infrastructure that supports participatory approaches.

The article examines the monopoly of the CPC on power as a system-forming political institution of the PRC, which showed its ineffectiveness in the active phase of the C ultural Revolution, was then restored in the fight against its proponents, and met competition from supporters of the democratization of the system of government in the late 1970s. Part of the political leadership of the PRC, represented mainly by relatively young party and state officials, considered the democratization of the system of government as a condition for transforming the system of domination into a system of democratic politics that would ensure the country's comprehensive development. This position was welcomed and support ed by the intelligentsia, urban educated youth and some of the cadres of the party and state apparatus, but met powerful res istance from the “veterans” of the Communist Party, concerned about the threat of losing control over the political activity of the masses. On March 30, 1979, Deng Xiaoping proclaimed the “four basic principles,” which became a factor in the consolidation of the CPC leadership on a “protective” position and defined a “corridor of opportunity” for pursuing a course of “reform and opening-up” for decades to come. At the same time, one of the four principles – “upholding the leadership of the Communist Party” – turned into the ideological basis of the institution of the CPC monopoly on power, which to this day plays a key role in the institutional political design of the PRC.

Yokai demons occupy a very important place in the culture and history of Japan. Yokai are the treasured key to the cultural code of Japanese nation , without which it is impossible to comprehend Kokoro – the Soul of Japan. The rapid fascination with Japanese demonology in the West and in Russia is by no means accidental, and the history of the Western world’s acquaintance with Japanese yokai is full of breathtaking stories. The article tells about the history of the study of Japanese demonology in the West and in Russia, and analyzes the reasons and features of the mass fascination with yokai in the world. A detailed overview of sources includes translations of works of fiction and studies devoted to yokai. The article pays special attention to the differences in the perception of Japanese demons in Western countries and among the Russian audience. The author sees the reason for this in the difference in mentalities – the Ango-Saxon ratio versus the Russian mythological consciousness.

The relevance of this article is due to the changes in Russian-Chinese relations that are taking place under the influence of the military crisis in Ukraine and Western sanctions applied against Russia and China. The purpose of this study is to analyze the problems and prospects of cooperation between Moscow and Beijing in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres. The author used the following research methods: generalization, structural synthesis, deductive and comparative analyses. Their application allowed us to come to the following conclusions. In the context of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, Russian-Chinese r elations are being tested for strength, as they are subject to comprehensive sanctions pressure from the “collective West”. Despite this pressure, relations between Russia and China demonstrate the growth of political interaction in the international arena. In the field of trade and economic relations, Moscow is trying to compensate for its economic and financial weakness by actively attracting Chinese investments and products. However, Russia is a less significant partner for Beijing compared to the European Union and the United States. To eliminate these problems, governments, economists and scientists from Russia and China are working together to activate the development of economic cooperation between the countries. Along with political and economic cooperation, humanitarian interaction between Moscow and Beijing is extremely important. It is aimed at confronting Western ideology and strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, as well as strengthening cooperation within the framework of the EAEU, SCO and BRICS.
