In early 2022, the Fangcang shelter hospital management model was successfully applied to the new outbreak of COVID-19 in Shanghai also. Although Fangcang shelter hospitals are no longer the prevailing mode of prevention of COVID-19, the management experience of Shanghai makeshift hospitals is worthy of reference for public health.Methods: The authors conducted a descriptive statistical analysis of Hall 6-2 of the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center Fangcang shelter hospital. The whole hall of the Fangcang shelter hospital was managed by the one hospital, and the inclusion of third-party management personnel alleviated the shortage of medical personnel human resources. Through practice, a new procedure for treating batch infected people was introduced.Results: By optimizing ward management, 72 on-duty doctors, 360 on-duty nurses, 3 sense-control administrators, and 15 administrators cured 18,574 infected people in 40 days, and created a record of a doctor managing 700 infected people without compromising the quality of treatment. There have been no deaths and no complaints from the infected people located in Hall 6-2 of the Shanghai National Convention and Exhibition Center Fangcang shelter hospital.Conclusion: Compared with previous data, the new management mode of Fangcang shelter hospitals provides a reference for the management of the new infectious diseases for public health.Keywords: COVID-19, Omicron variant, Fangcang shelter hospital, management, Shanghai’s experience

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic fatal lung disease with a median survival time of 3‒5 years. Inaccurate diagnosis, limited clinical therapy and high mortality together indicate that the development of effective therapeutics for IPF is an urgent need. In recent years, it was reported that DDRs are potential targets in anti-fibrosis treatment. Based on previous work we carried out further structure modifications and led to a more selective inhibitor 47 by averting some fibrosis-unrelated kinases, such as RET, AXL and ALK. Extensive profiling of compound 47 has demonstrated that it has potent DDR1/2 inhibitory activities, low toxicity, good pharmacokinetic properties and reliable in vivo anti-fibrosis efficacy. Therefore, we confirmed that discoidin domain receptors are promising drug targets for IPF, and compound 47 would be a promising candidate for further drug development.

The sociodemographic characteristics of third-party personnel, including gender, age, education level, work experience in fighting the epidemic with safety awareness, was analyzed. The effects of the two different management modes on the protection of third-party personnel were statistically analyzed by the Chi-square test or logistic regression analysis.Results: There were statistically significant differences in the incidence of infection among third-party personnel in terms of age, education level, work experience in fighting the epidemic in traditional supervision and management group, and whether they accepted the new supervision and management model had statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). The main causes of incorrect put on and take off protective clothing, such as wrong way to detach the face screen, wrong way to remove goggles, wrong way to undress protective clothing, wrong way to take off the shoe cover, hand washing steps omitted, are that causes infection of third-party personnel (p < 0.05).Conclusion: The new supervision and management model can reduce the infection rate of third-party personnel in Fangcang shelter hospitals through planned and purposeful training in terms of different age groups, education levels, work experience, and acceptance of protection knowledge.Keywords: shelter hospital, third-party personnel, new supervision, infection rate, Fangcang hospital

The aim of this study was to explore the association of cardiac fibroblast activation with clinical parameters and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging parameters in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). Thirteen CTEPH patients were prospectively enrolled. All of the patients underwent cardiac 68Gallium-labelled fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (68 Ga-FAPI-04)-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), right heart catheterisation, and echocardiography, and 11 of them additionally underwent CMR. Thirteen control subjects were selected to establish the normal range of cardiac 68 Ga-FAPI-04 uptake. Cardiac 68 Ga-FAPI-04 uptake higher than that in the blood pool was defined as abnormal. The global and segmental maximum standardised uptake values (SUVmax) of the right ventricle (RV) were measured and further expressed as target-to-background ratio (TBRRV) with left ventricular lateral wall activity as background. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) was visually evaluated, and native-T1 times, enhanced-T1 times, and extracellular volume (ECV) were quantitatively measured. Purpose: Radiolabeled fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) imaging has proven feasible in the assessment of ventricular fibrosis in several cardiovascular diseases. However, its value in assessing atrial fibrosis in atrial fibrillation (AF) remains unknown. Methods: Twenty-eight patients with AF and 25 sex-matched controls underwent baseline FAPI PET/CT imaging. Left atrial appendage (LAA) specimens were obtained from seven patients and two lung transplant donors. Atrial pacing beagle dog AF models were constructed by pacemaker implantation. After 8 weeks of pacing, the animals underwent FAPI PET/CT imaging and specimens from the left atrial and right atrial (LA, RA) were collected. FAPI activities in the LA, RA, and LAA were measured by target-to-background ratio (TBR), and the mRNA and protein expression of fibroblast activation protein (FAP) and collagen I were measured by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and western blot. Results: FAPI imaging identified increased atrial uptake in 17 patients with persistent AF (PsAF) (85.00%) and 5 with paroxysmal AF (PAF) (62.50%), located in the LA (64.28%), RA (57.14%), and LAA (42.86%). In all atrial structures, patients with PsAF had a higher prevalence of enhanced FAPI uptake than those with PAF (63.33% vs. 33.33%, P = 0.02). LA dilation and B-type natriuretic peptide level were determined as independent factors for increased LAA and RA FAPI uptake, respectively (OR: 1.11 and 1.02, both P < 0.05). All five beagles with AF had increased FAPI uptake in the LA and RA. For both human and animal specimens, FAPI activity was strongly associated with the mRNA and protein levels of FAP, and was closely related to the mRNA expression of collagen I. Conclusion: This preliminary study suggests that FAPI imaging is feasible for assessing activated fibroblasts in the atriums of AF.
