Solar energy is a thermal energy that can be harnessed by utilizing the wide range of the advanced emerging technologies including photovoltaic as well as solar thermal energy etc. The conventional harnessing technologies are utilized nonrenewable energy resources that have huge adverse effect on the environment because it emits the various harmful as well as toxic gases. Solar energy can be considered one of the most promising and best alternatives of the non-renewable energy resources that can be used as a primary energy resource and for the production of the secondary energy resources such as electricity and steam. There are two major advantages are associated with the solar energy including availability and negligible air pollution generation. Abstract

XBP1 activation in neonatal and adult doxycycline-inducible murine models of ADPKD due to a hypomorphic polycystin-1 missense mutation orthologous to human PC1R2220W delays cyst formation. Activating XBP1s, a pro-chaperone inducer of the endoplasmic reticulum stress response, can improve steady-state expression, ciliary trafficking, and cleavage of the mutant protein, providing initial in vivoproof of concept that modulating levels of poorly functioning hypomorphic PC1 alleles can slow progression of kidney cyst formation in ADPKD.

30. The performance of conspicuous consumption in emerging markets : a case study of Punjabi Jatt community weddings

Abstract

With a total estimated market size of US$30 billion in 2018 (Gupta, 2019) and a growing middle class with higher disposable incomes, India is one of the hottest markets for most luxury brands. If there is one event on which the Indian community spends massively and doesn’t shy away from going into debt for; it is weddings. This is an event that involves the coming together of not just two individuals but their families as well. For these families, it is not only a matter of showing their love to the marrying couple but also a display of status and financial strength through the public consumption of expensive products and acts during this event. In this study, I examine how these acts of conspicuous consumption are played out using the concept of performance theory. The first section of the thesis provides a detailed description of the phenomenon of conspicuous consumption, performance theory, and luxury brands. The second part tries to flesh out the nuances of conspicuous consumption from the perspective of performance theory in the Punjabi Jatt community, a landlord community in the North Indian province of Punjab, known for its exuberant attitude. The study explores conspicuous consumption from a performance theory standpoint wherein the entire wedding process is understood in terms of different parts of a performance, with conspicuous consumption being played out in each of these parts. The study contributes to the understanding of conspicuous consumption in a contemporary emerging market. The research also proposes a consumer feedback loop model to determine future conspicuous consumption performances, especially during wedding events in the Punjabi Jatt community. From a managerial viewpoint, the study examines how managers of luxury brands can comprehend consumption of luxury goods during the wedding events in the Jatt community from a sociological perspective which in turn would help them to position their brands better for future consumption.

Abstract

We turn to the philosopher and gender theorist Judith Butler for insight into how gender performativity (acting and actions restricted by gender norms) affects identity and thus individual agency. Gender performativity underlies the prevailing conceptualisation of women in India as being lesser. We anticipated that the extreme divide between wealth and poverty and higher and lower castes would affect women’s vulnerability. Yet, while lower class/caste women are undeniably at greater risk of sexual assault, even women of higher social status similarly embody ‘precarity’: a life lived without predictability, and thus without security. While structural changes have encouraged increased agentic performativity among women in India, a culture of condoned sexual violence is nonetheless an ongoing and horrifying reality. Abstract

Milk and fruit juices have paramount importance in human diet. Increasing demand of these liquid foods has made them vulnerable to economic adulteration during processing and in supply chain. Adulterants are difficult to detect by consumers and thus necessitating the requirement of rapid, accurate and sensitive detection. The potential adulterants in milk and fruit juices and their limits set by different regulatory bodies have been briefly described in this review. Potential advantages and limitations of various techniques such as physicochemical methods, chromatography, immunoassays, molecular, electrical, spectroscopy with chemometrics, electronic nose, and biosensors have been described.
