Abstract

This research work deals with comparing performance of Cubic boron Nitride (CBN) insert and uncoated cemented carbide insert on the workpiece SS316L stainless steel for improving surface roughness (SR) during CNC process. Materials and Methods: The component used in this work was SS316L stainless steel. The control group had uncoated tools while the experimental group contained CBN tools. Each group contains 27 samples were machined in a CNC turning machine by using the input parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut. Results: Mean SR value obtained for CBN tool and uncoated tool were 0.787007 µm and 0.901919 µm correspondingly with a significance value of 0.021(p<0.05). Conclusion: Inside the constraints of this trial, CBN tools during newer tooling offer a marginally superior surface finish than uncoated tools. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The evaluation of the diradical character of the oxyallayl derivatives by using the density functional theory (DFT) methods with broken symmetry formalism has revealed that it is underestimated. The deviations in both the squaraine series are found to be systematic, whereas croconate dyes have higher deviation even after inclusion of the solvent effects.

Abstract

Density functional theory (DFT)/ab initio/symmetry adapted cluster-configuration interaction (SAC-CI) techniques are used to investigate the oxyallyl substructure and the near-infrared (NIR) transition. The results have shown that the mixture of an intermediate diradical character and some zwitterionic character in the molecule along with a large coupling between these two valence band (VB) resonance forms, are responsible for large [gamma] values.

Abstract

Natural resonance theory (NRT) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis are performed on a symmetrical and an unsymmetrical substituted squaraine in order to understand the structure, bonding and lowest energy transitions in unsymmetrical squaraines. The results have shown that there is no distinctive advantage in absorption characteristics in unsymmetrical squaraines over that of the symmetrical squaraines except that these squaraines have dipole moment in the ground state.

Abstract

Investigating the isomerization, stability of the isomers, and neutral-neutral reactions of the fragments leading to the isomers of [H,N,Si,O] is discussed. Both ab initio at MP2 and G3B3 at the density functional theory (DFT) level indicate that there as many as nine stationary states on the singlet surface and an equal number on the triplet surface, which have been characterized as minima.
