- Abstract
Collective action is a powerful tool for social change and is fundamental to women and girls’ empowerment on a societal level. Collective action towards gender equality could be understood as intentional and conscious civic behaviors focused on social transformation, questioning power relations, and promoting gender equality through collective efforts. Various instruments to measure collective action intentions have been developed, but to our knowledge none of the published measures were subject to invariance testing. We introduce the gender equality collective action intention (GECAI) scale and examine its psychometric isomorphism and measurement invariance, using data from 60 countries (N = 31,686). Our findings indicate that partial scalar measurement invariance of the GECAI scale permits conditional comparisons of latent mean GECAI scores across countries. Moreover, this metric psychometric isomorphism of the GECAI means we can interpret scores at the country-level (i.e., as a group attribute) conceptually similar to individual attributes. Therefore, our findings add to the growing body of literature on gender based collective action by introducing a methodologically sound tool to measure collective action intentions towards gender equality across cultures.

This work is on the Physics of the B Factories. Part A of this book contains a brief description of the SLAC and KEK B Factories as well as their detectors, BaBar and Belle, and data taking related issues. Part B discusses tools and methods used by the experiments in order to obtain results. The results themselves can be found in Part C. Please note that version 3 on the archive is the auxiliary version of the Physics of the B Factories book. This uses the notation alpha, beta, gamma for the angles of the Unitarity Triangle. The nominal version uses the notation phi_1, phi_2 and phi_3. Please cite this work as Eur. Phys. J. C74 (2014) 3026., Comment: 928 pages, version 3 (arXiv:1406.6311v3) corresponds to the alpha, beta, gamma version of the book, the other versions use the phi1, phi2, phi3 notation

Mathematics - Combinatorics - Abstract
Turyn-type sequences, TT(n), are quadruples of {+,-1}-sequences (A;B;C;D), with lengths n,n,n,n-1 respectively, where the sum of the nonperiodic autocorrelation functions of A,B and twice that of C,D is a delta-function (i.e., vanishes everywhere except at 0). Turyn-type sequences TT(n) are known to exist for all even n not larger than 36. We introduce a definition of equivalence to construct a canonical form for TT(n) in general. By using this canonical form, we enumerate the equivalence classes of TT(n) for n up to and including 32. We also construct the first example of Turyn-type sequences TT(38)., Comment: 14 pages, 3 tables

Recovery capital describes the sum of resources – personal, social, or community – that can be drawn upon to sustain recovery from addiction. Recovery capital increases with progression through the stages of recovery; early (< 1 year), sustained (1 to 5 years), stable (> 5 years). The proportion of people in recovery within one's social network, as well as the number of supports, have been associated with greater recovery capital, although recovery capital has been found to be lower if one's entire network is in recovery. It remains unclear which social network characteristics are more important at early compared to stable recovery stages. The study assesses recovery strengths and barriers using the Strengths and Barriers Recovery Scale (SABRS) from the Australian Life in Recovery survey (n = 478). SABRS scores were compared between periods of active addiction and recovery, and across the stages of recovery. The impact of social network characteristics on SABRS score across early and stable recovery stages were also explored. Recovery social network diversity (some network members in recovery but not all or none) was associated with more recovery strengths in early but not stable recovery. However, for those in stable recovery, having a greater number of close people in a network was more important. The study provides evidence that the elements (e.g. diversity and number of supports) of a social network that facilitate recovery capital change as individuals progress through recovery stages, and highlights the importance of peer support in early recovery. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
The yield for the multi-strange $\Xi^{-}$ hyperon has been measured in 6 AGeV Au+Au collisions via reconstruction of its decay products $\pi^{-}$ and $\Lambda$, the latter also being reconstructed from its daughter tracks of $\pi^{-}$ and p. The measurement is rather close to the threshold for $\Xi^{-}$ production and therefore provides an important test of model predictions. The measured yield for $\Xi^{-}$ and $\Lambda$ are compared for several centralities. In central collisions the $\Xi^{-}$ yield is found to be in excellent agreement with statistical and transport model predictions, suggesting that multi-strange hadron production approaches chemical equilibrium in high baryon density nuclear matter., Comment: Submitted to PRL

Source images are extracted from two-particle correlations constructed from strange and non-strange hadrons produced in 6 AGeV Au + Au collisions. Very different source images result from pp vs p$\Lambda$ vs $\pi^-\pi^-$ correlations. These observations suggest important differences in the space-time emission histories for protons, pions and neutral strange baryons produced in the same events.

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Rapidity distributions of protons from central $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au collisions measured by the E895 Collaboration in the energy range from 2 to 8 AGeV at the Brookhaven AGS are presented. Longitudinal flow parameters derived using a thermal model including collective longitudinal expansion are extracted from these distributions. The results show an approximately linear increase in the longitudinal flow velocity, $<\beta\gamma>_{L}$, as a function of the logarithm of beam energy., Comment: 5 Pages, including 3 figures, 1 table

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
The E895 Collaboration at the Brookhaven AGS has performed a systematic investigation of Au+Au collisions at 2-8 AGeV, using a large-acceptance Time Projection Chamber. In addition to extensive measurements of particle flow, spectra, two-particle interferometry, and strangeness production, we have performed novel hybrid analyses, including azimuthally-sensitive pion HBT, extraction of the six-dimensional pion phasespace density, and a first measurement of the Lambda-proton correlation function., Comment: Presented at Quark Matter 2001, 8 pages, 5 figures

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Directed flow measurements for $\Lambda$-hyperons are presented and compared to those for protons produced in the same Au+Au collisions (2, 4, and 6 AGeV; $b < 5 - 6$ fm). The measurements indicate that $\Lambda$-hyperons flow consistently in the same direction and with smaller magnitudes than those of protons. Such a strong positive flow [for $\Lambda$s] has been predicted in calculations which include the influence of the $\Lambda$-nucleon potential. The experimental flow ratio $\Lambda$/p is in qualitative agreement with expectations ($\sim 2/3$) from the quark counting rule at 2 AGeV but is found to decrease with increasing beam energy., Comment: 5 pages including 4 Figs. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
We have measured the sideward flow of neutral strange ($K^0_s$) mesons in 6 AGeV Au + Au collisions. A prominent anti-flow signal is observed for an impact parameter range (b $\lesssim 7$ fm) which spans central and mid-central events. Since the $K^0_s$ scattering cross section is relatively small in nuclear matter, this observation suggests that the in-medium kaon vector potential plays an important role in high density nuclear matter., Comment: 5 pages, including 3 figs

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Two-pion correlation functions, measured as a function of azimuthal emission angle with respect to the reaction plane, provide novel information on the anisotropic shape and orientation of the pion-emitting zone formed in heavy ion collisions. We present the first experimental determination of this information, for semi-central Au+Au collisions at 2-6 AGeV. The source extension perpendicular to the reaction plane is greater than the extension in the plane, and tilt of the pion source in coordinate space is found to be opposite its tilt in momentum space., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures; minor tweaks on revision

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Using the large acceptance Time Projection Chamber of experiment E895 at Brookhaven, measurements of collective sideward flow in Au + Au collisions at beam energies of 2, 4, 6 and 8A GeV are presented in the form of in-plane transverse momentum
and the first Fourier coefficient of azimuthal anisotropy v_1. These measurements indicate a smooth variation of sideward flow as a function of beam energy. The data are compared with four nuclear transport models which have an orientation towards this energy range. All four exhibit some qualitative trends similar to those found in the data, although none shows a consistent pattern of agreement within experimental uncertainties., Comment: Accepted for publication by PRL. Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Charged pion spectra measured in 58Ni-58Ni collisions at 1.06, 1.45 and 1.93 AGeV are interpreted in terms of a thermal model including the decay of Delta resonances. The transverse momentum spectra of pions are well reproduced by adding the pions originating from the Delta-resonance decay to the component of thermal pions, deduced from the high transverse momentum part of the pion spectra. About 10 and 18% of the nucleons are excited to Delta states at freeze-out for beam energies of 1 and 2 AGeV, respectively., Comment: 14 pages, LaTeX with 3 included figures; submitted to Physics Letters B

We present a measurement of the partial branching fractions and mass spectra of the exclusive radiative penguin processes B-->Kpipigamma in the range m(Kpipi)pi(+)pi(-). Using 232 x 10(6) e(+)e(-)-->BB events recorded by the BABAR experiment at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy storage ring, we measure the branching fractions B(B(+)-->K(+)pi(-)pi(+)gamma)=[2.95+/-0.13(stat)+/-0.20(syst)] x 10(-5), B(B(0)-->K(+)pi(-)pi(0)gamma)=[4.07+/-0.22(stat)+/-0.31(syst)] x 10(-5), B(B(0)-->K(0)pi(+)pi(-)gamma)=[1.85+/-0.21(stat)+/-0.12(syst)] x 10(-5), and B(B(+)-->K(0)pi(+)pi(0)gamma)=[4.56+/-0.42(stat)+/-0.31(syst)] x 10(-5).

We measure the branching ratios of the Cabibbo-suppressed decays Λc+→ΛK+ and Λc+→Σ0K+ relative to the Cabibbo-favored decay modes Λc+→Λπ+ and Λc+→Σ0π+ to be 0.044±0.004(stat.)±0.003(syst. ) and 0.038±0.005(stat.)±0.003(syst.), respectively. We set an upper limit on the branching ratio at the 90% confidence level for Λc+→ΛK+π+π- of 4.1×10-2 relative to Λc+→Λπ+, and for Λc+→Σ0K+π+π- of 2.0×10-2 relative to Λc+→Σ0π+. We also measure the branching fraction for the Cabibbo-favored mode Λc+→Σ0π+ relative to Λc+→Λπ+ to be 0.977±0.015(stat.) ±0.051(syst.). This analysis was performed using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 125fb-1 collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory at SLAC. © 2007 The American Physical Society.

We present the results of a search for the decay B0-->tau+tau- in a data sample of (232+/-3)x10(6) Upsilon(4S)-->BB decays using the BABAR detector. Certain extensions of the standard model predict measurable levels of this otherwise rare decay. We reconstruct fully one neutral B meson and seek evidence for the signal decay in the rest of the event. We find no evidence for signal events and obtain Beta(B0->tau+tau-)

We study the two-body decays of B+/- mesons to K+/- and a charmonium state X(cc) in a sample of 210.5 fb(-1) of data from the BABAR experiment. We perform measurements of absolute branching fractions beta(B+/- --> K+/-X(cc)) using a missing mass technique, and report several new or improved results. In particular, the upper limit beta(B+/- --> K+/- X(3872)) < 3.2 x 10(-4) at 90% C.L. and the inferred lower limit beta(X(3872)J/psipi+ pi-) > 4.2% will help in understanding the nature of the recently discovered X(3872).

We analyze the decay B0→KS0π+π- using a sample of 232×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy B factory. A maximum likelihood fit finds the following branching fractions: B(B0→K0π+π-)=(43.0±2.3±2.3) ×10-6,B(B0→f0(→π+π-)K0)=(5.5±0.7±0. 5±0.3)×10-6 and B(B0→K*+π-)=(11.0±1. 5±0.5±0.5)×10-6. For these results, the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third (if present) is due to the effect of interference from other resonances. We also measure the CP-violating charge asymmetry in the decay B0→K*+π-, AK*π=-0. 11±0.14±0.05. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

We observe B0 --> D0K*(892)0 and B0 --> D2*(2460)-K+ contributions. The ratio of branching fractions beta(B0 --> D*-K+)/beta(B0 --> D*-pi+) = (7.76 +/- 0.34+/-0.29)% is measured separately. We present a measurement of the inclusive electron spectrum in B→Xueν decays near the kinematic limit for B→Xceν transitions, using a sample of 88×106 BB̄ pairs recorded by the BABAR detector at the Υ(4S) resonance. Partial branching fraction measurements are performed in five overlapping intervals of the electron momentum; for the interval of 2.0-2.6GeV/c we obtain ΔB(B→Xueν)=(0.572±0. 041stat±0.065syst)×10-3. Combining this result with shape function parameters extracted from BABAR measurements of moments of the inclusive photon spectrum in B→Xsγ decays and moments of the hadron-mass and lepton-energy spectra in B→Xcℓν decays we determine |Vub|=(4.44±0.25exp-0.38SF+0.42±0.22theory)×10-3. Here the first error represents the combined statistical and systematic experimental uncertainties of the partial branching fraction measurement, the second error refers to the uncertainty of the determination of the shape function parameters, and the third error is due to theoretical uncertainties in the QCD calculations. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

We report on searches for B-→Ds- and B-→Ds*-. In the context of the standard model, these decays are expected to be highly suppressed since they proceed through annihilation of the b and ū quarks in the B- meson. Our results are based on 234×106 Υ(4S)→BB̄ decays collected with the BABAR detector at SLAC. We find no evidence for these decays, and we set Bayesian 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions B(B-→Ds-)

We present a simultaneous measurement of the B̄0 lifetime τB0 and B0B̄0 oscillation frequency Δmd. We use a sample of about 50000 partially reconstructed B̄0→D*+ℓ-ν̄ℓ decays identified with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- storage ring at SLAC. The flavor of the other B meson in the event is determined from the charge of another high-momentum lepton. The results are τB0=(1.504±0.013(stat)- 0.013+0.018(syst))ps, Δmd=(0.511±0.007(stat)-0.006+0.007(syst))ps- 1. © 2006 The American Physical Society.

Nuclear Experiment - Abstract
Particles with strange quark content produced in the system 1.93 AGeV $^{58}$Ni on $^{58}$Ni have been investigated at GSI Darmstadt with the FOPI detector system. The correlation of these produced particles was analyzed with respect to the reaction plane. Lambda baryons exhibit a very pronounced sideward flow pattern which is qualitatively similar to the proton flow. However, the kaon ($K^+$,$K^0_S$) flow patterns are significantly different from that of the protons, and their form may be useful to restrict theoretical models on the form of the kaon potential in the nuclear medium., Comment: 3 pages TeX using pljour2 (Springer Verlag), or compressed and uuencoded postscript

We present evidence for the b --> d penguin-dominated decays B+ --> K0K+ and B0 --> K0K0 in 227 x 10(6) Y(4S) --> BB decays collected with the BABAR detector. We measure the branching fractions B(B+ --> K0K+) = (1.5 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.1) x 10(-6)(< 2.4 x 10(-6)) and B(B0 --> K0K0) = [formula: see text], where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We also present improved measurements of the charge-averaged branching fraction B(B+ --> K0pi+) = (26.0 +/- 1.3 +/- 1.0) x 10(-6) and CP-violating charge asymmetry A(CP) (K0pi+) = -0.09 +/- 0.05 +/- 0.01), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.
