Objective: To describe and study retrospectively the combination of elastic nails and cementoplasty to stabilize pathological fractures in the upper limb and present the results on pain and mobility., Materials and Methods: Between January 2022 and April 2024, six patients with a median age of 65 were treated with elastic nailing and cement injection. Pathological fractures were located in the clavicle (n = 3), humerus (n = 1) and radius (n = 2). Displacement at the fracture site was noted in two cases., Results: All nails were inserted successfully. Two nails were used for the humerus (n = 1) and the radius (n = 2), and a single nail was used for the clavicle (n = 3). A median volume of 6.5 cc of PMMA was injected. Median duration of the procedure was 155 min. Median pain score dropped from 8/10 the day before intervention to 3.5/10 at 10 days of follow-up and 3/10 at one-month follow-up. Three patients could move their upper limb without limitation. For the five patients for whom imaging was available, no fracture displacement was recorded at a median last follow-up of 3 months. There was no delayed complication., Conclusion: The combination of elastic nail and cementoplasty is feasible and allows to reduce pain and restore limb function. It may offer an alternative to patients suffering from pathological fractures in the upper limb and who are not candidates for surgery., (© 2024. The optimal treatment strategy for men with localised prostatic cancer of low and intermediate risk is an actively evolving field. It is important to strike a balance between maximal oncological control and minimal treatment-related complications, which helps preserve the patients' quality of life. MR-guided transurethral ultrasound ablation (TULSA) has emerged as a minimally invasive treatment option for this group of patients. This article aims to provide of a background on TULSA technology, a step-by-step procedural guide of MR-guided TULSA and to summarise the current evidence of TULSA in management of localised prostatic cancer, as well as other potential indications., (© 2024. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to retrospectively assess the safety profile of percutaneous image-guided screw fixation (PIGSF) for insufficiency, impending or pathological fractures., Materials and Methods: From July 2012 to April 2020, all consecutive patients who underwent PIGSF were retrospectively included in the study. Patient characteristics, fracture type, procedural data and complications were analyzed. Complications were divided into per-procedural, early (<24hours) and delayed (>24hours) and classified into minor (grade 1-2) and major complications (grade 3-5) according to Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (CTCAE) v5.0., Results: A total of 110 fractures (40 insufficiency [36%], 53 pathological [48.5%] and 17 impending [15.5%] fractures) in 94 patients (48 women, 46 men; mean age, 62.7±12.7 [SD] years; age range: 32-88 years) were treated with PIGSF during 95 procedures. Twenty-four-hours follow-up was available for all patients, and>24-hours follow-up was available for 79 (79/110; 71.8%) fractures in 69 (69/94; 73.4%) patients. Per-procedural complications occurred in 3/110 fractures (2.7%, all minor). Early complications were reported in 4/110 fractures (3.6%, 1 major and 3 minor) and delayed ones in 14/79 fractures (17.7%, 5 major and 9 minor). The most frequent major delayed complication was infection (3/79; 3.8%)., Conclusion: The rate of per-procedural and early (within 24hours) complications following PIGSF is extremely low with most complications being minor, with major complications being delayed ones (>24hours)., (Copyright © 2021 Société française de radiologie. Pathologists are little known to the public. In a day when each dollar for health care is so closely scrutinized, such a lack of understanding may lead to lack of support for our profession. Early this year, outpatients at the Milwaukee County Medical Complex in Wisconsin answered questions concerning laboratory tests, medical laboratories, and pathologists. The results revealed a severe lack of knowledge about pathologist functions, and, according to the authors, illustrates well the need for patient and public education about medical laboratory services. The results of the survey presented here were used in creating an educational videofilm, prepared within the Department of Pathology of the Medical College of Wisconsin, which was shown during the recent National Medical Laboratory Week in the same outpatient laboratory where the polling occurred.

The Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin has, in addition to the medical school's central TV facility, its own closed circuit TV equipment. Here, the authors recall the initial reaction of laboratory personnel to the system, and they explain the many ways in which the equipment has been used since its installation.

A 6-month-old female with a lifelong history of respiratory distress became increasingly difficult to manage and required right upper and middle pulmonary lobectomies for worsening emphysema and mediastinal shift. The postoperative course was stormy and confusing and the patient died despite emergency tracheostomy. The autopsy disclosed an anomalous bronchus to the right lower lobe, originating from the left mainstem bronchus. In addition, the left main pulmonary artery was positioned posterior to the left mainstem bronchus. Two other cases of bridging bronchus have been reported, but the association with posterior left pulmonary artery has not been described.
