There is a significant gap in the literature about Indiana Latino students' struggles to access post-secondary options. This study uses focus groups and interviews to explore parents', students', and teachers' perceptions about barriers and opportunities Latino high school students have to transition into education options after high school. Findings suggest that Latino families, especially newcomers, lack knowledge and resources to overcome perceived barriers and take advantage of available opportunities. While parents have college aspirations for their children and perceive financial issues as the main obstacle, students identified language, academic, financial, cultural, and legal barriers hindering them from reaching their education goals. Newcomer families find more challenges as they have not built college-knowing social networks. The study expands on existing knowledge about how factors such as college aspirations, immigrant status, English proficiency level, perceived academic preparation, acculturative stress, and school messages and resources interplay to influence students' decisions and expectations. The study reaffirms the need for early exposure to college-going knowledge and strategies to reduce the negative impact of social stressors and to provide Latino students with equal educational opportunities to fulfill their goals.

In the present work, the construction process, namely the design, elaboration and validation of a questionnaire-scale is described to evaluate the attitudes and interactions in the way of living in the digital world of social networks in primary and secondary students. The current aim was to analyse the means, uses and risks, as well as the sources of training and advice those students have to interact with the diverse range of devices with an internet connection that provide access to social networks. The participating sample for validation was 1073 students from the Primary and Secondary Education stages of centres with organic dependency: Private, concerted and public. The obtained results express the satisfactory metric quality of the questionnaire, thus presenting a theoretically based and operationally defined instrument, considering four relevant dimensions: Special, environmental, perceptual and motivational.

Background: The aim of the present study was to evaluate teacher perceptions on the training received in intercultural education. Methods: The article presents a quantitative, non- experimental and ex-post-facto type of research; directed to inquire about the perceptions of the teachers of primary education in Andalusia (Spain) in relation to the intercultural training received. Based on the descriptive survey method, two questionnaires were administered to a sample composed of 320 students and 80 teachers. Results: The results show certain strengths of the training teacher programs in the field of interculturality (encouragement of reflection, participation and collaboration …), as well as weaknesses (decontextualization, inflexibility, primacy of theoretical learning, non-transversal character, etc.). Conclusions: Despite strengths, intercultural teacher training continues to be a challenge in Andalusia.

Conversely to the front-line standardised treatment options, patients with relapse generally have an individualised approach and to date, there is still a lack of consensus regarding standard treatment approaches. Studies on relapsed synovial sarcoma were able to identify some prognostic variables that influence post-relapse survival, in order to plan risk-adapted salvage protocols. Treatment proposals must consider previous first-line treatments, potential toxicities, and the possibility of achieving an adequate local treatment by new surgery and/or re-irradiation. Effective second-line drug therapies are urgently needed. Notably, experimental treatments such as adoptive engineered TCR-T cell immunotherapy seem promising in adults and are currently under validation also in paediatric patients.Keywords: synovial sarcoma, relapse, second line therapy, surgery, new agents, TCR-T cell therapy, children

NRSTS form a very mixed group of mesenchymal extraskeletal malignancies. Their rarity, heterogeneity, and aggressiveness make the management of children and adolescents with these tumors complex and challenging. The overall cure rate for patients with NRSTS is around 70%, but survival depends on several prognostic variables, such as histotype and tumor grade, extent of disease and stage, tumor size, and tumor site. While surgery remains the mainstay of treatment for most of these tumors, a multimodal therapeutic approach including radiotherapy and chemotherapy is required in many cases. The EpSSG NRSTS 2005 study was the first prospective protocol tailored specifically to NRSTS. Together with the ARST0332 study developed by the North-American Soft Tissue Sarcoma Committee of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the EpSSG NRSTS 2005 study currently represents the benchmark for these tumors, establishing risk-adapted standards of care. The EpSSG has developed common treatment recommendations for the large group of adult-type NRSTS (including synovial sarcoma), and specific treatment recommendations for other particular adult-type histologies (ie, alveolar soft-part sarcoma, clear cell sarcoma and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans); other highly malignant tumors with a biology and clinical behavior differing from those of adult-type NRSTS (ie, rhabdoid tumors and desmoplastic small round cell tumor); and soft tissue tumors of intermediate malignancy (ie desmoid-type fibromatosis, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors, and infantile fibrosarcoma). New effective drugs are needed for patients whose NRSTS carries the worst prognosis, ie, those with unresectable tumors, metastases at diagnosis, or relapsing disease. Progress in this area relies on our ability to develop international integrated prospective collaborations, both within existing pediatric oncology networks and, importantly, between the communities of specialists treating pediatric and adult sarcoma.Keywords: non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcomas, NRSTS, EpSSG, treatment, recommendations, pediatric

The number of one-to-one mobile programs in elementary schools as a resource to substitute the textbook has become popular worldwide. However, findings of studies that seek to enable understanding of how the daily use of these mobile devices affects student's engagement in the classroom are heterogeneous. The authors utilized and adapted a self-system model of motivational development in order to better understand the mechanisms behind the promotion of academic engagement in one-to-one iPad programs. For this, an analysis using structural equations was conducted on data collected from a network of 20 elementary schools and 1,011 5th and 6th grade students in Spain, who used iPads daily in their Language and Mathematics courses. The results showed that certain activities--according to the course--with the iPad influenced the students' engagement, while promoting authentic learning and satisfying their needs. The study contributes with a comprehensive approach and knowledge about the reasons behind the success or failure of these types of programs on learner engagement.

The need for cognitive and leadership skills requires the exploration of creative implementation models that ensure training and emphasise the value of individuals as the main asset within organisations. This research aims to introduce and validate a disruptive didactic innovation, which fosters the development of these skills through experiential communication via "Skills&Art". The methodology used is Design Research, an emerging approach in educational research that encompasses developing and implementing a new or improved model, validating techniques, tools or models and determining conditions that facilitate successful implementation. The research was conducted in both classroom and museum settings. It consisted of a four-phase activity focused on crafting a speech that linked a skill with an artwork. A qualitative study of the speeches and a Likert self-assessment questionnaire were performed. The results demonstrate that the proposed disruptive didactic innovation Skills&Art is effective and efficient, and its self-assessed learning promotes innovation, creativity, initiative, problemsolving and analytical thinking. • Population ageing estimates an increase in institutionalized elderly. • This instrument allows for measuring the outcomes of care in these centres. • This study conducted cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric validation. • Is the first Spanish adaptation assesses well-being in older adults in nursing home. The objective of this study was to culturally adapt the Thriving of Older People Assessment Scale (TOPAS) instrument and evaluate its psychometric properties. The study was carried out in two phases: cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric validation and refinement through a cross-sectional study conducted between 2018 and 2020 with 314 participants. The refinement resulted in an abbreviated version of TOPAS, maintaining the original 5 factors with 16 items. Cronbach alpha was 0.91. Composite reliability (0.72–0.89) and average variance extracted (0.57–0.81), supporting discriminant validity. Maximum shared variance for the factors (0.22–0.50) and average shared variance (0.16–0.31), demonstrating discriminant validity. The abbreviated version of TOPAS showed evidence of being a valid and reliable instrument for measuring the adaptability of elderly residents in institutions. Implementing this instrument in Spanish nursing homes allows for a continuous evaluation of residents' well-being in relation to their environment, a construct not previously assessed with available scales.
