International audience; A highly sensitive and selective silicon-based microanalytical prototype was used to identify a few ppb of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in indoor air. Herein, a new nonactivated tannin-derived carbon synthesized by an environmentally friendly method, DM2C, a MIL-101(Cr) MOF, and a DaY zeolite were selected for the preconcentration of BTEX compounds (i.e., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes). Integrating a small amount of these nanoporous solids inside a miniaturized preconcentration unit led to excellent preconcentration performance. By taking advantage of the high adsorption−desorption capacities of the DM2C adsorbent, concentrations as low as 23.5, 30.8, 16.7, 25, and 28.8 ppb of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, ortho- and para-xylene, respectively, were detected in a short analysis time (∼10 min) even in the presence of 60% relative humidity at 25 °C. The DM2C showed excellent stability over a period of 4 months and more than 500 tests, as well as repeatability, which makes it a very reliable adsorbent for the detection of trace VOCs in indoor air under realistic conditions in the presence of humidity.

International audience; Introduction: The misuse of alcohol has harmful social and health impacts within a population. The French military must be particularly vigilant with alcohol, due to specificities linked with weaponry. This study was designed to explore social representations of alcohol based on a sample of the French Navy in order to prioritize prevention focuses on alcohol misuses in a military environment.Methods: A semi-directed interview-based exploratory study was conducted in the south of France at the end of 2015. Data was submitted to manual categorical analysis and textual analysis (Iramuteq software).Results: Sixty-two marines from the French Navy were interviewed including 30 Navy and 32 Marine Firefighters. Data analysis indicated that the motivation to consume alcohol comes more from a social influence (extrinsic motivations) than for pleasure induced by alcohol effects (intrinsic motivations). For Navy personnel, the sense of belonging to the Navy is strengthened by drinking habits with a strong social cohesion. In contrast, the Marine Firefighters had a negative perception of alcohol because of a possible degradation of their professional image for the civilian population.Conclusion: The identification of social representations of alcohol allows for a better apprehension of drinking behavior within a French military population, particularly by focusing on content and organization of discourses about alcohol. Following this survey, a quantitative study is currently being drawn up among military personnel from the French Navy in order to clarify some of the elements identified and presented within this article.; Introduction : Le mésusage de l’alcool a des répercussions nocives sur la sphère sociale et sanitaire d’une population. Les militaires français doivent être particulièrement vigilants face à l’alcool, en raison des spécificités de leur métier lié notamment au maniement des armes. Cette étude vise à explorer les représentations sociales de l’alcool au sein de la Marine nationale, afin de définir des axes prioritaires de prévention de ses mésusages d’alcool dans un environnement militaire.Méthodes : Une étude exploratoire de nature principalement qualitative, par entretiens semi-directifs, a été menée dans le Sud de la France à la fin de l’année 2015. Les données ont été analysées via une analyse catégorielle manuelle et une analyse textuelle (logiciel IRaMuTeQ).Résultats : Soixante-deux militaires de la Marine nationale ont été interrogés, dont 30 marins et 32 marins-pompiers. L’analyse des résultats indique que la motivation à consommer de l’alcool provient davantage de l’influence sociale (motivations extrinsèques) que du plaisir provoqué par les effets de l’alcool. Pour les marins, si le sentiment d’appartenance à la Marine est renforcé par des habitudes de consommation à caractère fortement cohésif, la consommation d’alcool en revanche est perçue plutôt négativement par les marins-pompiers, pouvant être causée par une dévalorisation de leur image professionnelle vis-à-vis de la population civile.Conclusion : L’identification des représentations sociales de l’alcool permet de mieux appréhender les comportements d’alcoolisation à risque d’une population de militaires français, notamment en se focalisant sur le contenu et l’organisation des discours concernant l’alcool. Suite à cette étude, une enquête quantitative est en cours d’élaboration auprès de militaires de la Marine nationale afin de clarifier certaines pistes exploratoires identifiées dans ce travail.

International audience; Tungsten oxide thin films are grown by DC reactive magnetron sputtering combining glancing angledeposition (GLAD) and reactive gas pulsing process (RGPP). Inclined, zigzag and spiral columnar archi-tectures are produced with various oxygen injections during the growth. The dodecane and ozone sensingproperties of these tungsten oxide nanostructured active layers are comparatively studied with that offilms deposited by conventional sputtering process. Microstructure, morphologies and electrical behav-iors are characterized as a function of the growing conditions. As-deposited films systematically exhibitan amorphous crystal structure with a porous microstructure, which depends on the GLAD architecture.Annealing at 300◦C in air for 12 h leads to a polycrystalline structure keeping voided networks. Dode-cane and ozone sensing performances are the most significant for inclined columnar architectures butthey also depend on the RGPP sputtering conditions. As a result, the GLAD + RGPP combination provesto be a relevant strategy for the fabricating tungsten oxide nanostructured films as active layers with anattractive potential for gas sensors.

International audience; Contexte : en termes de risques professionnels, certaines spécificités liées au métier des armes ne sont pas compatibles avec le fait de consommer de l’alcool. Cette étude visait à explorer les représentations sociales de l’alcool au sein d’un échantillon de l’Armée de terre, afin d’améliorer la prévention des mésusages d’alcool dans un environnement militaire. Méthodes : une étude exploratoire par entretiens semi-directifs a été menée. Des militaires de l’Armée de terre d’un régiment basé sur un camp situé dans une zone géographique isolée de France ont été interviewés au courant de l’année 2014. Les données ont été analysées via une analyse catégorielle et une analyse lexicale (logiciel Alceste). Résultats : 28 militaires ont été interrogés. Les principaux résultats indiquaient que l’alcool était représenté positivement et associé à la notion d’intégration sociale, davantage qu’à la recherche même du plaisir provoqué par la substance. La consommation d’alcool semblait également être renforcée par le manque de rupture entre les moments consacrés au travail et ceux consacrés à la vie privée et aux loisirs, notamment pour les jeunes recrues. Discussion : l’identification des représentations sociales de l’alcool a permis de cibler des mesures préventives adaptées à la population de l’étude. Les résultats évoqués étant préliminaires, ils mériteraient d’être vérifier de nouveau au sein d’une enquête complémentaire.

International audience; Tungsten oxide WO3 thin films were prepared by dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The GLancing Angle Deposition (GLAD) technique was implemented to transform the typical dense microstructure into an inclined columnar and porous architecture. The incident angle α of the sputtered particles was 0 and 70° leading to a column tilt angle b of 0 and 40°, respectively. Conventional and inclined WO3 films were sputter deposited on a commercial hotplate system. Ozone gas was periodically injected from 0 to 220 ppb and the variation of resistance of the system was measured vs. time at 250°C. The conventional WO3 films exhibited a significant change of conductance as a function of the ozone injection. GLAD WO3 films with a columnar angle b = 40° were even more sensitive to the ozone pulses and the time of response or recovery was significantly enhanced. This ozone detection improvement was mainly attributed to the more porous structure of WO3 films produced by the GLAD method.
