Purpose: Middle meningeal artery (MMA) particle embolization is a promising treatment of chronic subdural hematomas (CSDH). The main purpose of this study is to measure MMA proximal caliber and assess the visibility of the two main MMA branches as a surrogate for long-term distal arterial patency following MMA CSDH embolization with trisacryl gelatine microspheres (TAGM)., Methods: This is a single-center retrospective study. All patients having undergone MMA TAGM only embolization for CSDH treatment between 15 March 2018 and 6 June 2020 with an interpretable follow-up magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination and no confounding factors were included. Patients were compared with controls matched for age, sex and MRI machine. Two independent readers analyzed the MRI images., Results: In this study, 30 patients having undergone embolization procedures using TAGM of 36 MMAs were included. The follow-up MRI scans were performed after a mean delay of 14.8 ± 7.1 months (range 4.9-29.4 months). The mean diameter of TAGM embolized MMAs (1 mm; 95% confidence interval, CI 0.9-1.1) was significantly smaller than the mean diameter of paired control MMAs (1.3 mm; 95% CI 1.3-1.4) (p < 0.001). The mean proximal diameter of the embolized MMAs (0.9 mm; 95% CI 0.7-1.1) was significantly smaller than the mean diameter of the contralateral MMAs in the same patients (1.4 mm; 95% CI 1.3-1.6)(p < 0.001)., Conclusion: Long-term follow-up MRI demonstrated a significant impact of TAGM embolization on MMA proximal caliber as well as on the visibility of the two main MMA branches. All comparisons indicated that there was a probable lasting impact of embolization on the patency of distal branches., (© 2022. Although animals rarely use only one sense to communicate, few studies have investigated the use of combinations of different signals between animals and humans. This study assessed for the first time the spontaneous reactions of piglets to human pointing gestures and voice in an object-choice task with a reward. Piglets (Sus scrofa domestica) mainly use auditory signals-individually or in combination with other signals-to communicate with their conspecifics. Their wide hearing range (42 Hz to 40.5 kHz) fits the range of human vocalisations (40 Hz to 1.5 kHz), which may induce sensitivity to the human voice. However, only their ability to use visual signals from humans, especially pointing gestures, has been assessed to date. The current study investigated the effects of signal type (visual, auditory and combined visual and auditory) and piglet experience on the piglets' ability to locate a hidden food reward over successive tests. Piglets did not find the hidden reward at first presentation, regardless of the signal type given. However, they subsequently learned to use a combination of auditory and visual signals (human voice and static or dynamic pointing gestures) to successfully locate the reward in later tests. This learning process may result either from repeated presentations of the combination of static gestures and auditory signals over successive tests, or from transitioning from static to dynamic pointing gestures, again over successive tests. Furthermore, piglets increased their chance of locating the reward either if they did not go straight to a bowl after entering the test area or if they stared at the experimenter before visiting it. Piglets were not able to use the voice direction alone, indicating that a combination of signals (pointing and voice direction) is necessary. The authors report their experience of the treatment of the supraglottic laryngeal carcinoma in a retrospective study of 124 patients primarily treated in the ENT department of Grenoble University hospital. Fourteen patients received only radiotherapy, the others 110 patients were treated by surgery: partial or reconstructive surgery in 47 cases, total surgery in 63 cases. The carcinological results demonstrate the good prognosis of the intra-laryngeal tumors. Their treatment allows a good loco-regional control (tumoral recurrences: 4%, regional recurrences: 2%). The main prognostic factor is the nodal involvement with capsular rupture which is responsible for the most locoregional and metastatic recurrences.

The therapeutic efficacy of benzydamine vaginal douche is compared with that of placebo in a randomized clinical study presently underway. A total number of 200 patients, grouped according to different types of vaginitis, will be included in the study. Preliminary results on 102 patients confirm the positive therapeutic effect of benzydamine.
