4. The non-identical 'self' : nonlinear ontologies as incompatible with the self

Nonlinear Temporality ,Bergson ,Nietzsche ,Serres ,Identity ,Self ,Time ,Connolly ,Bennett - Abstract
This thesis will argue that nonlinear ontologies are incommensurable with a notion of self as an embodied, enduring agent. Nonlinear ontologies are centred on contingency and dynamism, as opposed to the stasis and predictability of linear ontologies. As a result, nonlinear ontologies engender multi-directional conceptualisations of development, complicates the notion that elements are separable and often locates agency below the level of the individual, as it is seen as an assemblage of forces. These tendencies problematise notions of the self, as it is predicated on the idea that it is delineable, constant and capable of acting independently. In order to substantiate this argument, I will explore three different nonlinear ontologies, each with its own implications for the concept of the self. First, I will show that the concepts of the will to power and the theory of the drives in the work of Friedrich Nietzsche problematize the assumptions of agency and unity of the self. Second, I will argue that Bergson's understanding of the world as composed through duration and materiality engenders two incommensurable conceptualisations of logic and causality - as emergent and efficient respectively - which creates a split sense of self. Third, I will demonstrate that Serres' attempt to approach the 'multiple as such' expresses nonlinearity in the form of productive chaos, which problematizes the notion of the individual as a "unity" and an agent. The final chapter explores how Connolly and Bennett use nonlinear ontologies to create a sense of fluidity and contingency in a self that can resist the tendency towards dogmatic and monolithic understandings of itself. However, because nonlinear ontologies are incompatible with the self, these attempts to combine the two create various tendencies, which I will show to resonate with the accounts of nonlinearity by Nietzsche, Bergson and Serres, upon which they based their theories.

This article presents Bennett's five-bar spatial mechanism. For interest, we will define the kinematic parameters of the mechanism. The obtained parameters displayed on the graphs of the dependences of the rotation of the input link to the output. Additionally, for an accurate calculation, an additional ghostly angle of the mechanism is taken into account. Additional link ratios specified.

SYMPATHY , *STUDENT teachers , *EARLY childhood education - Abstract
New materialism has the potential to deepen critical engagement between vibrant things, everyday places and intra-actions between humans and non-humans in early childhood education. This article explores Australian pre-service teachers' understandings of children and childhood when encountering the vibrant forces of things and places. The authors explore Jane Bennett's 'circuits of sympathy' to analyse the atmospheric forces encountered in pre-service teachers' engagement with new materialism in their final year of study. Their research is guided by the following question: What happens when pre-service teachers conceptualise the posthuman child, things and places as related through circuits of sympathy? The authors suggest that sympathy, considered as a transformative agentic force, can generate connectivity across ideas, matter and practices, and adds depth and new perspectives to understandings of the posthuman child, with the result that new figurations of childhood emerge in this investigation. They conclude by discussing the implications of their study for posthuman research and how circuits of sympathy bring new atmospheric forces to childhood. The posthuman child, embedded in circuits of sympathy, is neither individualised nor collectivised but immersed in, and produced by, the circuit and its flows and disruptions. The modes and qualities of sympathy in the circuit shape what happens next: encounters that are sympathetically charged, are set to create new circuits of sympathy in their next encounters. From the first electric lights in London along Pall Mall, and in the Holborn Viaduct in 1878 to the nationalisation of National Grid in 1947, the narrative of the simple ascendency of a new technology over its outdated predecessor is essential to the way we have imagined electric light in London at the end of the nineteenth century. However, as this thesis will demonstrate, the interplay between gas and electric light - two co-existing and competing illuminary technologies - created a particular and peculiar landscape of light, a 'lightscape', setting London apart from its contemporaries throughout the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Indeed, this narrative forms the basis of many assertions made in critical discussions of artificial illumination and technology in the late-twentieth century; however, this was not how electric light was understood at the time nor does it capture how electric light both captivated and eluded the imagination of contemporary Londoners. The influence of the electric light in the representations of London is certainly a literary question, as many of those writing during this period of electrification are particularly attentive to the city's rich and diverse lightscape. Though this has yet to be made explicit in existing scholarship, electric lights are the nexus of several important and ongoing discourses in the study of Victorian, Post-Victorian, Modernist, and twentieth-century literature. This thesis will address how the literary influence of the electric light and its relationship with its illuminary predecessors transcends the widespread electrification of London to engage with an imaginary London, providing not only a connection with our past experiences and conceptions of the city, modernity, and technology but also an understanding of what Frank Mort describes as the 'long cultural reach of the nineteenth century into the post-war period'.

Background and Objective: One of the most common problems of firefighters is performance degradation while using protective gloves. Regarding the existence of various types of firefighting gloves in Iran, this study aimed to investigate and compare the effect of these gloves on hand dexterity. Materials and Methods: Two types of the most widely used firefighting gloves were selected for the purpose of this study. The dexterity was evaluated using four standard tests, including Bennett, Minnesota, Pegboard, and modified Pegboard, for each pair of gloves on 40 male students. The Spearman's correlation coefficient, Wilcoxon test, and Friedman test were used to compare dexterity and its effective factors. Results: Based on the obtained results, the type of gloves had a significant effect on hand dexterity (P

The desire to enhance and make ourselves better is not a new one and it has continued to intrigue throughout the ages. Individuals have continued to seek ways to improve and enhance their well-being for example through nutrition, physical exercise, education and so on. Crucial to this improvement of their well-being is improving their ability to remember. Hence, people interested in improving their well-being, are often interested in memory as well. The rationale being that memory is crucial to our well-being. The desire to improve one’s memory then is almost certainly as old as the desire to improve one’s well-being. Traditionally, people have used different means in an attempt to enhance their memories: for example in learning through storytelling, studying, and apprenticeship. In remembering through practices like mnemonics, repetition, singing, and drumming. In retaining, storing and consolidating memories through nutrition and stimulants like coffee to help keep awake; and by external aids like notepads and computers. In forgetting through rituals and rites. Recent scientific advances in biotechnology, nanotechnology, molecular biology, neuroscience, and information technologies, present a wide variety of technologies to enhance many different aspects of human functioning. Thus, some commentators have identified human enhancement as central and one of the most fascinating subject in bioethics in the last two decades. Within, this period, most of the commentators have addressed the Ethical, Social, Legal and Policy (ESLP) issues in human enhancements as a whole as opposed to specific enhancements. However, this is problematic and recently various commentators have found this to be deficient and called for a contextualized case-by-case analysis to human enhancements for example genetic enhancement, moral enhancement, and in my case memory enhancement (ME). The rationale being that the reasons for accepting/rejecting a particular enhancement vary depending on the enhancement itself. Given this enormous variation, moral and legal generalizations about all enhancement processes and technologies are unwise and they should instead be evaluated individually. Taking this as a point of departure, this research will focus specifically on making a case for ME and in doing so assessing the ESLP implications arising from ME. My analysis will draw on the already existing literature for and against enhancement, especially in part two of this thesis; but it will be novel in providing a much more in-depth analysis of ME. From this perspective, I will contribute to the ME debate through two reviews that address the question how we enhance the memory, and through four original papers discussed in part three of this thesis, where I examine and evaluate critically specific ESLP issues that arise with the use of ME. In the conclusion, I will amalgamate all my contribution to the ME debate and suggest the future direction for the ME debate.

This thesis considers the teaching of English literature within extramural organisations for adults in England between 1885 and 1910. This challenges the assumption that the beginnings of English as a tertiary-level academic subject can be traced back only as far as the foundation of the Oxford English School at the end of the nineteenth century; in fact extramural English courses had been flourishing for decades before this, and these reached their zenith in the final years before it was introduced at Oxbridge. Oxford created an Honours School of English in 1894, and the Cambridge English Tripos was established in 1917; in ideological terms, such developments were of course crucial, yet it has too often been the case that the extramural literary teaching being conducted contemporaneously has been sidelined in studies of the period. My first chapter will consider the development of English in various institutional and non-institutional environments before 1885, including Edinburgh University, Dissenting Academies, and Mechanics’ Institutes. Thereafter I will explore the campaign, led by University Extension lecturer John Churton Collins, to incorporate English literature as an honours degree at Oxford. Focusing on the period between 1885 and 1891, this second chapter will assess the veracity of some of Collins’s most vehement claims regarding the apparently low critical and pedagogical standards in existence at the time, which he felt could only be improved if Oxford would agree to institutionalise the subject, and thereby raise the standard of teaching more generally. Collins’s campaign enjoyed more success when he drew attention to the scholarly teaching available within the University Extension Movement; my third chapter is underpinned by research and analysis of previously unexplored material at the archives of London University, such as syllabuses, examination papers, and lecturers’ reports. I examine the way in which English literature, the most popular subject among Extension students, was actually being taught outside the universities while still excluded from Oxbridge. Thereafter my penultimate chapter focuses on an extramural reading group formed by Cambridge Extension lecturer Richard G. Moulton. This section considers Moulton’s formulation of an innovative mode of literary interpretation, tailored specifically to suit the abilities of extramural students, and which also lent itself particularly to the study of novels. Uncollected T. P.’s Weekly articles written by Arnold Bennett highlight the emphasis that he placed on pleasure, rather than scholarship. My final chapter considers Bennett’s self-imposed demarcation from the more serious extramural pedagogues of literature, such as Collins and Moulton, and his extraordinary impact on Edwardian reading habits. A brief coda will compare the findings of the 1921 “Newbolt Report” with my own assessment of fin-de-siècle extramural education.

Extension educators today face several challenges in designing, delivering, and evaluating programs. Achieving successful program outcomes is becoming increasingly difficult. Educators must choose amongst a wide variety of technology and delivery methods, all while facing resource constraints such as cost, time, and materials. Educators require a tool that helps them to select delivery methods that achieve more successful program outcomes. We developed a conceptual model that connects the scholarly works of Bloom et al., Dale, and Bennett with over 30 program delivery methods. This article demonstrates the model’s utility by applying it to a past program on smoking cessation.

Materials and Methods: Two types of the most widely used firefighting gloves were selected for the purpose of this study. The Spearman's correlation coefficient, Wilcoxon test, and Friedman test were used to compare dexterity and its effective factors. Results: Based on the obtained results, the type of gloves had a significant effect on hand dexterity (P<0.001). The findings showed that the modified Pegboard test had high sensitivity in measuring finger dexterity. However, the Pegboard test due to its low sensitivity and severe reduction in scores was not suitable for measuring dexterity. The Bennett and Minnesota tests due to their similar trends can be used to measure hand dexterity. In addition, since Minnesota test was less tiresome and solved some problems, it can be used instead of the Bennett test. Conclusion: Various firefighting gloves available in the market have different effects on the dexterity of the hands and fingers. Therefore, this should be considered by firefighting organizations. It is recommended to evaluate dexterity while using firefighting gloves with the help of the modified Pegboard and Minnesota tests. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Kant categorizes the arguments for the existence of God into ontological, cosmological, and design arguments. He holds that whereas existence is not a real and determining predicate, it is not allowed to be a part of object’s definition and so the ontological argument is fruitless. Along with Kant and Bennett, I shall try to show that existence is not a perfection nor a determining predicate. Besides, contrary to Bennett, who assesses Kant's reasoning insufficient, I argue that Kant finds the fallacy hidden in the argument and argues that the flaw of cosmological argument is its dependence on the insecure ontological argument. While Bennett truly notices the ambiguity and weakness of this relation, Kant, by appealing to a strong criticism, destructs the cosmological argument later. Finally, despite his interest in the argument from design, Kant asserts that it is based on the invalid cosmological argument. In this stage, Bennett criticism neglects the inherent connection between design and cosmological argument.

At first sight, New Materialism’s theoretical explorations seem to have little in common with the intense poetry and lyrical prose written by Cristina Campo and two of her favorite “imperdonabili” [“unforgivables”]: Emily Dickinson and Marianne Moore. Yet the apparently incongruous comparison will serve to illuminate the invisible kinship that, in their search for the Ineffable, these three poets experienced within and with the material world. Focusing on their enchanted sensual perception, their predilection for the small, the paradoxical, and the hybrid, and, finally, their fascination with negative dialectics, the essay analyses what attracted Campo to her two predecessors and how she understood and translated their poetry into her own poetics.

- Abstract
Over the last few decades feminists, science and technology studies scholars and others have grappled with how to take materiality into account in understanding social practices, subjectivity and events. One key area for these debates has been drug use and addiction. At the same time, neuroscientific accounts of drug use and addiction have also arisen. This development has attracted criticism as simplistically reinstating material determinism. In this article we draw on 80 interviews with health professionals directly involved in drug-related public policy and service provision in three countries to identify the main ways the neuroscience of addiction (and thus the agency of the brain) is understood. We analyse these understandings using contemporary posthumanist theory to develop new options for conceptualizing matter in public responses to addiction. We close by calling for a new approach to addiction and the brain based on a process model of materiality and public debate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present study covers the problem of a kinematic analysis of a spatial 5R single DOF linkage. This mechanism was constructed by combining two 4R universal mechanisms presented in tori geometry (Bil, 2012). The problem can be presented as the effect of an intersection of two tori in such a manner that the circles that form these tori do not coincide (Bil, 2010; 2011; 2012; 2012). As a result of this, a 5R model was obtained of a five-bar mechanism. It was demonstrated that there are 16 cases of the intersection of two universal tori with constant linear dimensions and that they differ with the angles of the mutual positions of rotation axes. A particular case of the five-bar mechanism presented herein is the well-known Goldberg mechanism (Goldberg, 1943), which was initially formed out of a particular case combination of two Bennett mechanisms (Bennett, 1903; Baker, 1979).

- Abstract
Background: Management of Bennett fractures has been controversial. Early reports supported closed reduction and casting with or without percutaneous pinning. Later, open reduction and internal fixation was advocated. The purpose of this article is to assess the surgical treatment using a direct volar approach. Methods: Between March 2008 and December 2014, 21 patients with intra-articular first metacarpal fractures displaced more than 1 mm were operated on using a direct volar approach. Fixation was done with micro-screws or K-wires, always placed from ulnar to radial during thumb supination. The articular step-off, secondary displacement incidence and consolidation rate time were measured. At final follow-up, we assessed the thumbs for range of motion, residual pain, and grip strength. Sensitive areas around the scar were evaluated. Mean follow-up was 8 months. Results: Anatomical reduction was achieved in all cases. One secondary displacement was registered. The mean distance between the tip of the thumb and the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint was less than 10 mm; reposition was complete. Mean palmar abduction was 63°. Grip strength averaged 84.6% of the opposite side. The mean visual analog scale score was 0. No sensory disturbances around the scar were recorded. Conclusions: The complete visualization of the first metacarpal articular surface is hard to accomplish from the dorsoradial aspect of the hand. The volar approach offers an excellent fracture exposure. It is possible to place the osteosynthesis in ulna-radial fashion from the smaller fragment achieving correct reduction and stabilization. In spite of the proximity to the radial and median nerve branches, we found no complications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the last decades Religious Zionism moved from the margins to the center of Israeli society and politics. Members of this sector (RZS) are located today in top positions in Israeli politics, businesses, and among professional elites, academia, and the military, gaining growing influence over the national decision-making processes and policies. No wonder, then, that public opinion polls indicate that the members of the RZS are the most satisfied and optimistic in Israel today. The fact that the RZS is positioned mostly on one side of the political spectrum (Right), the tight interrelations within this sector and its widening periphery have further increased its national impact. It is argued here that this is a critical development in Israeli politics as this sector’s members, and in particular those voting for the RZS parties, show relatively low commitment to core democratic values together with a clear preference for the Jewish aspect over the democratic aspect of the state of Israel. Furthermore, whereas in the past the RZS was politically represented by one main party (with some splinter groups coming and going), in the 2021 elections two parties (Yamina and the Religious Zionist Party (RZP)) collided head-on. For the first time each of these parties, the first more modernist and the second more fundamentalist, claimed to be the only authentic representative of this sector. The competition between them intensified when the election results showed that each of the two had gained the same number of seats in the Knesset, with the leader of Yamina unexpectedly becoming the new Israeli prime minister. It is argued here that the future balance of power between these two parties and their respective constituencies will determine the future of the RZS as a whole—whether it will establish itself as a pivotal actor in Israeli politics or remain at the margins.

SOCIOLOGY of knowledge , *AUTOBIOGRAPHY , *FICTION - Abstract
This essay describes the ideas, practices, and purposes of the “Fourth Way,” introduced by G. I. Gurdjieff a hundred years ago. It does so, through the eyes of the author, via a narrative largely based on his experiences with one of Gurdjieff’s leading exponents named John Bennett. The author expresses his own unfolding understanding of the Fourth Way rather than attempting to sum up or define it. The many illustrations included give a more concrete flavor than words alone can provide. This article covers the decade 1960–1970, and is the first part of a longer autobiographical work that will resume the story from 1970 until the present day. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to demonstrate the results of surgical treatment, including percutaneous K-wire fixation after closed reduction (CRKF) or locking plate fixation after open reduction (ORPF), in patients with intra-articular fractures of the base of the fifth metacarpal., Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data of 29 patients who received surgical treatment for closed, intra-articular fractures of the base of the fifth metacarpal and were followed up for at least 1 year after surgery. Sixteen of the 29 patients underwent CRKF, whereas 13 patients underwent ORPF. Attempts were made to address intra-articular step-off with closed reduction in all the patients; however, if inadequate, ORPF was performed. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand scores, visual analog scale pain scores, the total active motion (TAM) of the little finger, and grip strength. Osseous union and posttraumatic arthritis of the fifth carpometacarpal joint were also evaluated., Results: K-wire fixation after closed reduction was performed for 13 simple fractures and 3 comminuted fractures; ORPF was performed for 6 simple fractures and 7 comminuted fractures. All the patients had satisfactory subjective outcomes with over 90% grip strength compared with that on the contralateral side and nearly full TAM. All the patients in both the groups achieved osseous union. There were five cases of grade 1 posttraumatic arthritis after CRKF and seven cases of grade 1 posttraumatic arthritis after ORPF., Conclusions: Surgical treatment provided satisfactory results in patients with intra-articular fractures of the base of the fifth metacarpal treated with either CRKF or ORPF. Our data showed that the patients who underwent CPKF had good results, and those who underwent ORPF after attempt failure of close reduction also had good results. Our experience suggests that ORPF can be a backup plan when CRKF cannot be accomplished in a satisfactory way., Type of Study/level of Evidence: Therapeutic IV., (Copyright © 2023 American Society for Surgery of the Hand. MATERIALISM , *MARXIST philosophy , *COMPARATIVE studies - Abstract
This article explores the role of nature in two strands of contemporary materialist philosophy: new materialism, and transcendental materialism. Through an analysis of these strands of materialism via the work of Jane Bennett, William E. Connolly, Catherine Malabou, and Adrian Johnston, the article attempts to delineate these perspectives into the opposed camps of monist and dialectical materialisms. The implications of these differing materialist ontologies are then discussed in terms of the theorization of nature as either a vital material force or as a weakness characterizing matter itself. After outlining the importance of nature for these two opposed theories, the lack of serious engagement with the work of F.W.J. Schelling by either group is discussed as a potential middle ground between the Spinozism of the new materialism and the Hegelianism of transcendental materialism, due to its large-scale political analysis, less pessimistic perspective towards the possibility of a contemporary humanism, and embrace of recent advances in the empirical sciences. - Abstract
This paper discussed about the emergence of the nation-state, its historical background. This research mainly focused on the Renan philosophical concepts about the nation and nation state. According to Renan view, the soul with a common past and experience and the acceptance of its legacy is something which constructs a nation. This research enlightened the study of Pakistan as a nation, apart from Muslim nationalism the moderate political leaders have tried to develop this notion of oneness on the basis of the common struggle to receive this land and the admiration of the struggle by coming generations and accepting and embracing that legacy by new generations. This paper not only studied the Renan political though about nation state but also explained the Geertz concept of Sovereignty, Wimplemann philosophical views about working of state institutions, Kachtan thoughts on ethnicity, division and conflicts of people on the basis of ethnicity, Habermas and Bennett ideas on civil disobedience. It has been analyzed that the future of nation state is shady if it will be left on its own; it is the different things which artificially keep the sense of nation and nation state alive

SYMPATHY , *ECOLOGY in literature , *POLITICAL ethics - Abstract
This essay critically engages ontological, rhetorical, ethical, and political themes pertinent to the concept of “sympathy” as it appears in the poetry and prose of Walt Whitman and Jane Bennett’s writing on him. I suggest that antagonism is immanent in the “ecology of sympathies” that Bennett theorizes, and that this partly explains why one frequently finds antagonistic articulations deeply intertwined with Whitman’s most sympathetic expressions. I propose that we use the paradoxical—even oxymoronic sounding—trope antagonistic sympathy to evoke this immanent relationship between affiliative and antagonistic flows, energies, and conditions for ethical and political cultivation. The concept of antagonistic sympathy helps us better understand Whitman, the ethical and political qualities, pulls, and implications of sympathy, and it enables us to theorize entanglements of sympathy and antagonism in ways that avoid the worst tendencies of each when isolated from the other. Antagonistic sympathy, I argue, is indispensable for radical democratic and ecological transformation in a time of rapidly intensifying planetary ecological catastrophe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This case study analyzes news coverage by The New York Times of an 'unworthy' social movement, which opposed official U.S. Navy policy to continue its presence and training on the Puerto Rican island of Vieques. Vieques represents an opportunity to elucidate and assess expectations of the media dependence model in relation to a case that involves changing policy positions effected by an unworthy social movement. The case study also evaluates the extent that the propaganda model by Edward S. Herman and Noam Chomsky, as well as the indexing model by W. Lance Bennett, are instructive in terms of news coverage of the efforts of the people of Vieques to evict the over 4-decade long presence of a major U.S. naval base. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Public engagement in biotechnology has declined as cloning, genetic engineering and regenerative medicine have become socially and culturally normalized. Zooming in on existing bio-technological debates, this article turns to contemporary genetic art as sites for ethical reflections. Art can be viewed as an 'imagination laboratory', a space through which un-framing and rupturing of contemporary rationalities are facilitated, and, in addition, enabling sense-making and offering fantastic connections otherwise not articulated. In this article, the framework of 'bio-objectification' is enriched with Bennett's (2001) notion of enchantment and the importance of wonder and openness to the unusual, in order to highlight alternative matters of concern than articulated through conventional politico-moral discourse. Drawing on a cultural sociological analysis of Eduardo Kac's Edunia, Lucy Glendinning's Feather Child, Patricia Piccinini's Still Life with Stem Cells and Heather Dewey-Hagborg's Stranger Visions, we discuss how the intermingling of art, science, critics, art historians, science fiction, internet, and physical space, produce a variety of attachments that this article will unpack. The article demonstrates that while some modern boundaries and rationalities are highlighted and challenged through the 'imagination laboratory' of the art process, others are left untouched. DISCOURSE , *POLITICAL campaigns , *SOCIAL media , *CITIZENSHIP , *WEBSITES - Abstract
The article focuses on the emergence of a new comical political discourse in the 2015 Knesset elections, in which humour was adopted as a major campaign strategy and senior Israeli politicians took upon themselves the role of comedians in ad clips. The development of such discourse is presented as the culmination of an ongoing process of transformation of the political discourse in Israel since 1977. The process was inspired by the American political and media scenes, as well as by changes in Israel’s media map. Social media played a central role in the new comical discourse, as it was heavily used both for the viral dissemination of the clips and for creating engagement. But even as the affectivity of the videos was apparent in terms of the creation on ‘media buzz’, exposure and web engagement, there is still no proof to its influence on the elections outcome. Furthermore, it raises questions about the ability of the Israeli citizenry to rationally discus crucial issues and to form opinion on them. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

International audience; We manually mapped particles ranging in longest axis from 0.3 cm to 95 m on (101955) Bennu for the Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security–Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) asteroid sample return mission. This enabled the mission to identify candidate sample collection sites and shed light on the processes that have shaped the surface of this rubble-pile asteroid. Building on a global survey of particles, we used higher-resolution data from regional observations to calculate particle size-frequency distributions (PSFDs) and assess the viability of four candidate sites for sample collection (presence of unobstructed particles ≤ 2 cm). The four candidate sites have common characteristics: each is situated within a crater with a relative abundance of sampleable material. Their PSFDs, however, indicate that each site has experienced different geologic processing. The PSFD power-law slopes range from −3.0 ± 0.2 to −2.3 ± 0.1 across the four sites, based on images with a 0.01-m pixel scale. These values are consistent with, or shallower than, the global survey measurements. At one site, Osprey, the particle packing density appears to reach geometric saturation. We evaluate the uncertainty in these measurements and discuss their implications for other remotely sensed and mapped particles, and their importance to OSIRIS-REx sampling operations.
