1. Breakup, fusion, and elastic scattering analysis of the 8B + 58Ni system at low energies with the continuum-discretized coupled channels method

Abstract

We have performed continuum-discretized coupled channels (CDCC) calculations of the breakup of 8B on 58Ni in the energy interval 10 – 26 MeV in the c.m. system. Elastic scattering angular distributions for the 8B + 58Ni system at five different energies around the Coulomb barrier were studied by using the CDCC model and taking into account a coupling between elastic and breakup channels. The energy-dependent sets found for the OPs parameters reproduce well the elastic scattering data and the fusion and reaction cross sections. Finally, a comparison of the reduced total reaction cross sections for the 8B + 58Ni system with the 6He + 208Pb and 6He + 209Bi systems is presented.

2. Neutron asymptotic normalization coefficients and halo radii of the first excited states of 13C and 11Be

Abstract

We have performed coupled reaction channels calculations of the (d,p) reactions on 12C and 10Be at laboratory energies of 12, 25, and 30 MeV leading to the ground and first excited states of 13C and 11Be. We found spectroscopic factors Sexp, asymptotic normalization coefficients (ANCs) and root mean square radii of the last neutron in these states. Our calculations confirm the existence of neutron halos in the first excited state of 13C, as well as in the ground and the first excited states of 11Be. We found that the neutron transfer dominates at energies about 12 and 25 MeV and demonstrated that the states with enlarged radii are formed in the reactions of a peripheral type, which satisfy the criterion of a peripherality: C2=Sexpb2=const, where C is the ANC and b is the single-particle ANC.

Abstract

Study of the $^{11}$B($^{3}$He,d)$^{12}$C reaction at incident $^{3}$He energy E$_{lab}$ = 25 MeV has been performed at the K-130 cyclotron at the University of Jyv\"askyl\"a, Finland. Differential cross sections have been measured for the 13.35 MeV state and for the states with excitation energy around 20 MeV. The data were analyzed with the DWBA method. A tentative assignment, 4$^{-}$, is given for the state at 13.35 MeV. For the state at 20.98 MeV, the spin-parity 3$^{-}$ and the isospin T = 0 are assigned for the first time. Our model description of the broad state at 21.6 MeV is consistent with the previous assignments of isospin T = 0 and spin-parity of 2$^{+}$ and 3$^{-}$. The excited state at 22.4 MeV may have possible spin-parities of either 6$^{+}$ or 5$^{-}$. The collected statistics was insufficient to solve this question., Comment: 9 pages, 11 figures, 2 tables

Abstract

The differential cross sections of the $^{12}$C($^3$He,t)$^{12}$N reaction leading to formation of the 1$^+$ (ground state), 2$^+$(0.96 MeV), 2$^{-}$(1.19 MeV), and 1$^{-}$(1.80 MeV) states of $^{12}$N are measured at $E$($^3$He)=40 MeV. The analysis of the data is carried out within the modified diffraction model (MDM) and distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA). Enhanced $rms$ radii were obtained for the ground, 2$^{-}$(1.19 MeV), and 1$^{-}$(1.80 MeV) states. We revealed that $^{12}$B, $^{12}$N, and $^{12}$C in the IAS with T=1, and spin-parities 2$^{-}$ and 1$^{-}$ have increased radii and exhibit properties of neutron and proton halo states., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, 2 tables

Abstract

Changes in morphological characteristics of cells from two cultured cancer cell lines, HeLa and A549, induced by photodynamic treatment with Radachlorin photosensitizer have been monitored using digital holographic microscopy. The observed dose-dependent post-treatment dynamics of phase shift variations demonstrated several scenarios of cell death. In particular the phase shift increase at low doses can be associated with apoptosis while its decrease at high doses can be associated with necrosis. Two cell types were shown to be differently responsive to treatment at the same doses. Although the sequence of death scenarios with increasing irradiation dose was demonstrated to be the same, each specific scenario was realized at substantially different doses. Abstract

A theoretical analysis of available experimental data on elastic and inelastic C scattering in the energy region extending up to 90 MeV is performed. The parameters of a semimicroscopic potential are found on the basis of the dispersive optical model. The potentials found in this way are used in analyzing, by the distorted-wave Born approximation, data that the authors recently measured for inelastic scattering at energies of 65 and 90 MeV. Experimental data for the states at 3.68 and 7.55 MeV are presented for the first time. These states are considered under the assumption that, within the standard rotational model, they are members of the ground-state rotational band. A satisfactory description of angular distributions is obtained, and deformation lengths are determined. A model phenomenological form factor is used for the remaining excitations in the energy range extending up to 11 MeV. The present analysis confirms the presence of a neutron halo in the 3.09-MeV state. A similarity of form of the inelastic form factors obtained for the 8.86-, 10.996-, and 11.08 MeV states and the proximity of their radii gives grounds to assume that the C nucleus in these three states has an enhanced size and similar structures. A comparison of the radial dependences of the form factors for the 9.90- and 8.86-MeV states shows that the wave function for the 9.90-MeV state has a substantially smaller spatial extension. These results agree with the values obtained for the radii of the states under discussion on the basis of the modified diffraction model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
