Influenza, a highly contagious respiratory viral disease characterized by its short incubation period and severe symptoms, is treatable with antiviral drugs targeting viremia. Among new antiviral agents, Actinobacteria, particularly from the Streptomyces genus, are notable for their ability to produce potent antiviral compounds. This study evaluates the antiviral potential of Streptomyces sp. KSF 103, isolated from Kuala Sat, Jerantut, Pahang, against the Influenza A virus (IAV). Using molecular docking tools such as AutoDock Vina and PyMOL, the interactions of four compounds – hypoxanthine, vitamin D, purine, and aminocaproic acid – were analyzed against IAV proteins. Vitamin D exhibited the highest binding affinity against H3N2’s M2 (−9.6 kcal/mol) and HA (−9.2 kcal/mol) proteins. Additionally, RMSD dynamics parameters indicated that the best-scoring complexes are predicted to be satisfactorily stable under physiological settings. These findings suggest that Streptomyces sp. KSF 103 could be a promising source for developing new antiviral treatments against influenza.

This study is topical and is of particular importance with the emergence and spread of vector- borne diseases in urban areas around the world, and in Algeria in particular. In this work we carried out a toxicological test on the larvae of two species namely Culiseta longiareolata and Blattella germanica which are considered harmful and can be carriers of many pathogens, with the use of the aqueous extract of the plant Euphorbia bupleuroides for a certain time, the results of toxicity give a toxic effect on the larvae determined at different lethal concentrations and sublethal (LC 50 % and LC 90 %).

Most road crashes at work are caused by Driver Behavioral Drift (DBD). This DBD has become a recurring issue on congested road sections.In this context, this study proposes a method called (MASOCU-DBD) which allows to analyze this DBD problem in two steps: assessment of the dynamics of DBD occurrence using a model called BM-NSA and analysis of DCC using a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) weighted by the Analysis Hierarchical Process (AHP).The application of the MASOCU-DBD on a road section of an Algerian city's entry highlighted the problem of the DBD in terms of its occurrence and uselessness in the studied section.The merit of the proposed method is that it uses multi-criteria analysis tools (AHP and CBA) as well as a mathematical model (BM-NSA) to analyze professional drivers' behavioral deviations.

In this study, the design, analysis and optimization of the performance of a concentrated solar power plant that is based on the parabolic trough technology with a capacity of 100 MW equipped with a thermal energy storage system were conducted, in two representative sites in Algeria (Tamanrasset and M’Sila). The System Advisor Model software is used to evaluate the technical and economic performances of the two proposed power plants, in addition to carrying out the process of optimizing the initial design of the two power plants by finding the optimal values of the solar multiple and full load hours of the thermal energy storage system, with the aim of increasing the annual energy production and reducing the levelized cost of electricity. The results of the performance analysis conducted on the optimized design showed that the optimum values of the solar multiple and full load hours of the thermal energy storage system for the proposed power plant at the Tamanrasset site were found to be 2.4 and 7 h, respectively, with an annual electricity production of 514.6 GWh, and a minimum value of the levelized cost of electricity of 6.3¢/kWh. While the optimum performance of the proposed plant at the M'Sila site can be achieved by selecting a solar multiple of 3 and 7 h for thermal energy storage system, with a high annual energy production of 451.84 GWh and a low value of the levelized cost of electricity of 7.8¢/kWh. The results demonstrate that CSP plants using parabolic trough technology can increase energy security in the country, while reducing environmental concerns associated with the use of fossil materials.

Recent years have seen the re-emergence of vector-borne diseases, representing more than 17% of infectious diseases globally. Most of these diseases can be prevented by vector control measures. Series of difficulties which are linked to the fight. Plant insecticides can present interesting alternatives to the chemical insecticides currently used in the fight against these pests. In the first part, we have inventoried the vector species in the region of El Kantara, Biskra, by conducting surveys of three sites. The second part focuses on the biological control of the larvae of the most abundant species in the region, that is, Culiseta longiareolata. The faunal inventory of the species of Culicidae in the three sites of El Kantara showed seven species belonging to three genera. The genus Culiseta was the best represented, particularly with the species C. longiareolata (89.91%). The toxicological activity of the ethanoic extracts of the seeds of Peganum harmala and Citrullus colocynthis was studied in synergy against the larvae of Culiseta longiareolata at different concentrations. The mortality rate increased over time to reach more than 70% after 5 days.

Aim. The present study was carried out to evaluate the wound healing potential of crude Hydroalcoholic fruit extracts of Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) and Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in experimental animals.

Continuum robots are the behavioral extension of hyper-redundant robots usually inspired by living biological organs. These robots outperform their rigid counterparts regarding high flexibility, dexterity, and most importantly safe interaction. On the flip side, they are kinematically redundant, highly nonlinear, and multi-input, and consequently, their controlling remains a complex and challenging task. To this end, this paper proposes a Fractional-Order Proportional-Integral-Derivative (FOPID) controller to control the continuum robot's end-tip. The proposed controller is designed to control the inputs of a class of continuum robots, namely the Cable-Driven Continuum Robot (CDCR). To design the controller satisfactorily, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm extracts the optimal values of the controller's parameters. The proposed FOPID controller's efficiency and control performance are demonstrated through two simulation examples: set-point tracking and point-to-point trajectory tracking. In addition, the obtained simulation results are compared to those provided by classical and Optimized PID controllers and to some available schemes. Given the obtained results, it is clear that the performances of the proposed FOPID controller are superior in tracking accuracy and smoothness in control signals.

To improve the performance of solid composite propellants (SCPs) supplemented with ammonium nitrate (AN) as an oxidizer, the incorporation of energetic ingredients such as explosives, energetic binders or catalysts is a common effective approach. For this purpose, polyurethane (PU), a typical inert binder, was mixed with nitrocellulose (NC) as an energetic polymer. Numerous composite solid propellant compositions based on AN and NC-modified polyurethane binder with different NC ratios were prepared. The prepared formulations were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), RAMAN spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), electron densimetry, thermogravimetric (TG) analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A kinetic study was then performed using the iterative Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (It-KAS), Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (It-FWO), and non-linear Vyazovkin integral with compensation effect (VYA/CE) methods. The theoretical performances, such as theoretical specific impulse, adiabatic flame temperature, and ideal exhaust gaseous species, were also determined using the NASA Lewis Code, Chemical Equilibrium with Application (CEA). Spectroscopic examinations revealed the existence of NC and full polymerization of PU in the prepared propellants. According to density tests, the density of the propellant increases as the nitrocellulose component increases. According to the thermal analysis and kinetics study, the increase in NC content catalyzed the thermal decomposition of the AN-based composite solid propellants. Based on the theoretical study, increasing the amount of NC in the propellant increased the specific impulse and, as a result, the overall performance.

Microplastics (MPs) are widespread in aquatic and soil environments. This study targets the issue of MPs’ transfer from soil to groundwater. Scientific papers were collected and analyzed using a text-mining approach that classifies text segments. This allowed the identification of four research topics and the organization of the results into a summarizing table. Those four topics are sources of groundwater MPs, main types of MPs (physico-chemical properties, polymer units, shapes, and size), human exposure (mainly drinking water), and potential environmental and human effects. Compared to the research of MP on aquatic or soil compartments, scientific data on MP in groundwater are less substantial. Current results show a divergence due to differences in context (alluvial aquifer, fractured rock aquifer, karst aquifer, etc), collecting, sampling, and analytical methods. This divergence requires further research with standardized analytic protocols and reference materials. The associated research gaps were identified by using the same approach. The following five topics emerged: (1) the transfer of MPs from soil to underground, (2) the contribution of groundwater to drinking water microplastic pollution, (3) the interaction with other contaminants, (4) the human and environmental effects, and (5) the protective and remediation solutions. HIGHLIGHTS A text-mining tool was used to distinguish sources, types, exposure pathways, and effects of microplastics (MPs).; There is a lack of common criteria to compare the behavior of MP in groundwater and their potential environmental and health impacts.; There is a need for standardized sampling, extracting, and analytical methods on microplastics in groundwater and biological matrices.;

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers that include all cancers of the digestive tract organs are generally associated with obesity, lack of exercising, smoking, poor diet, and heavy alcohol consumption. Treatment of GI cancers typically involves surgery followed by chemotherapy and/or radiation. Unfortunately, intrinsic or acquired resistance to these therapies underscore the need for more effective targeted therapies that have been proven in other malignancies. The aggressive features of GI cancers share distinct signaling pathways that are connected to each other by the overexpression and activation of AXL receptor tyrosine kinase. Several preclinical and clinical studies involving anti-AXL antibodies and small molecule AXL kinase inhibitors to test their efficacy in solid tumors, including GI cancers, have been recently carried out. Therefore, AXL may be a promising therapeutic target for overcoming the shortcomings of standard therapies in GI cancers.
