We present the discovery of 118 new ultracool dwarf candidates, discovered using a new machine learning tool, named \texttt{SMDET}, applied to time series images from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer. We gathered photometric and astrometric data to estimate each candidate's spectral type, distance, and tangential velocity. This sample has a photometrically estimated spectral class distribution of 28 M dwarfs, 64 L dwarfs, and 18 T dwarfs. We also identify a T subdwarf candidate, two extreme T subdwarf candidates, and two candidate young ultracool dwarfs. Five objects did not have enough photometric data for any estimations to be made. To validate our estimated spectral types, spectra were collected for 2 objects, yielding confirmed spectral types of T5 (estimated T5) and T3 (estimated T4). In the context of energy transition and decarbonization of the economy, several governments will ban the sale of new combustion vehicles by 2050. Thus, growing penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) in distribution networks (DN) is predicted. Impact analyzes must be performed to determine if mitigation means are needed to accommodate a large quantity of EVs in the DN. Furthermore, the habits of the local population resulting in different EVs charging patterns needs to be realistically considered. This article proposed an individual residential EVs multi-charging algorithm based on the observed charging behavior of 500 measured residential EVs located in a large North American utility. Probability functions are derived from the analysis of these charging patterns. These can be used to model daily charging profiles of individual EV to assess, in a quasi-static time-series perspective, their impact either on a single costumer or a whole DN. An impact evaluation study is also presented.

The first generation of ELT instruments includes an optical-infrared high-resolution spectrograph, indicated as ELT-HIRES and recently christened ANDES (ArmazoNes high Dispersion Echelle Spectrograph). ANDES consists of three fibre-fed spectrographs ([U]BV, RIZ, YJH) providing a spectral resolution of $\sim$100,000 with a minimum simultaneous wavelength coverage of 0.4-1.8 $\mu$m with the goal of extending it to 0.35-2.4 $\mu$m with the addition of a U arm to the BV spectrograph and a separate K band spectrograph. It operates both in seeing- and diffraction-limited conditions and the fibre feeding allows several, interchangeable observing modes including a single conjugated adaptive optics module and a small diffraction-limited integral field unit in the NIR. Modularity and fibre-feeding allow ANDES to be placed partly on the ELT Nasmyth platform and partly in the Coud\'e room. ANDES has a wide range of groundbreaking science cases spanning nearly all areas of research in astrophysics and even fundamental physics. Among the top science cases, there are the detection of biosignatures from exoplanet atmospheres, finding the fingerprints of the first generation of stars, tests on the stability of Nature's fundamental couplings, and the direct detection of the cosmic acceleration. The current standard model of cosmology successfully describes a variety of measurements, but the nature of its main ingredients, dark matter and dark energy, remains unknown. Euclid is a medium-class mission in the Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme of the European Space Agency (ESA) that will provide high-resolution optical imaging, as well as near-infrared imaging and spectroscopy, over about 14,000 deg^2 of extragalactic sky. In addition to accurate weak lensing and clustering measurements that probe structure formation over half of the age of the Universe, its primary probes for cosmology, these exquisite data will enable a wide range of science. This paper provides a high-level overview of the mission, summarising the survey characteristics, the various data-processing steps, and data products. Strong-field ionization by counter-rotating two-color laser fields produces quantum interference between photoelectrons emitted on the leading and trailing edges of the laser field oscillations. We show that in chiral molecules, this interference is asymmetric along the light propagation direction and strongly enhances the sensitivity of the attoclock scheme to molecular chirality. Calculations in a toy-model molecule with a short-range chiral potential show that this enhanced sensitivity already emerges at the exit of the tunnel. We investigate the possible sources of chiral sensitivity in the tunneling process, and find that the interference between electron vortices plays a crucial role in the chiral response.

This paper presents a comprehensive study focused on disentangling hippocampal shape variations from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) datasets within the context of neurological disorders. Leveraging a Graph Variational Autoencoder (VAE) enhanced with Supervised Contrastive Learning, our approach aims to improve interpretability by disentangling two distinct latent variables corresponding to age and the presence of diseases. In our ablation study, we investigate a range of VAE architectures and contrastive loss functions, showcasing the enhanced disentanglement capabilities of our approach. This evaluation uses synthetic 3D torus mesh data and real 3D hippocampal mesh datasets derived from the DTI hippocampal dataset. Our supervised disentanglement model outperforms several state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods like attribute and guided VAEs in terms of disentanglement scores. Our model distinguishes between age groups and disease status in patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) using the hippocampus data. Our Graph VAE with Supervised Contrastive Learning shows the volume changes of the hippocampus of MS populations at different ages, and the result is consistent with the current neuroimaging literature. Superconducting microwave metamaterials offer enormous potential for quantum optics and information science, enabling the development of advanced quantum technologies for sensing and amplification. In the context of circuit quantum electrodynamics, such metamaterials can be implemented as coupled cavity arrays (CCAs). In the continuous effort to miniaturize quantum devices for increasing scalability, minimizing the footprint of CCAs while preserving low disorder becomes paramount. In this work, we present a compact CCA architecture leveraging superconducting NbN thin films presenting high kinetic inductance, which enables high-impedance CCA ($\sim1.5$ k$\Omega$), while reducing the resonator footprint. We demonstrate its versatility and scalability by engineering one-dimensional CCAs with up to 100 resonators and exhibiting multiple bandgaps. Additionally, we quantitatively investigate disorder in the CCAs using symmetry-protected topological SSH modes, from which we extract a resonator frequency scattering of $0.22^{+0.04}_{-0.03}\%$. Our platform opens up exciting new prospects for analog quantum simulations of many-body physics with ultrastrongly coupled emitters.

We present an analysis of high angular resolution images of the microlensing target MOA-2007-BLG-192 using Keck adaptive optics and the Hubble Space Telescope. The planetary host star is robustly detected as it separates from the background source star in nearly all of the Keck and Hubble data. The amplitude and direction of the lens-source separation allows us to break a degeneracy related to the microlensing parallax and source radius crossing time. Thus, we are able to reduce the number of possible solutions by a factor of ${\sim}2$, demonstrating the power of high angular resolution follow-up imaging for events with sparse light curve coverage. Following Bennett et al. 2023, we apply constraints from the high resolution imaging on the light curve modeling to find host star and planet masses of $M_{\textrm{host}} = 0.28 \pm 0.04M_{\odot}$ and $m_p = 12.49^{+65.47}_{-8.03}M_{\oplus}$ at a distance from Earth of $D_L = 2.16 \pm 0.30\,$kpc. Breaking the reciprocity of wave propagation is a problem of fundamental interest, and a mucht-sought functionality in practical applications, both in photonics and phononics. Although it has been achieved using resonant linear scattering from cavities with broken time-reversal symmetry, such realizations have remained inescapably plagued by inherent passivity constraints, which make absorption losses unavoidable, leading to stringent limitations in transmitted power. In this work, we solve this problem by converting the cavity resonance into a limit cycle, exploiting the uncharted interplay between non-linearity, gain, and non-reciprocity. Remarkably, strong enough incident waves can synchronize with these self-sustained oscillations and use their energy for amplification. We theoretically and experimentally demonstrate that this mechanism can simultaneously enhance non-reciprocity and compensate absorption. Real-world acoustic scattering experiments allow us to observe perfect non-reciprocal transmission of audible sound in a synchronisation-based 3-port circulator with full immunity against losses., Comment: Article and Supplementary Notes

We report the identification of 89 new systems containing ultracool dwarf companions to main sequence stars and white dwarfs, using the citizen science project Backyard Worlds: Planet 9 and cross-reference between Gaia and CatWISE2020. Thirty-two of these companions and thirty-three host stars were followed up with spectroscopic observations, with companion spectral types ranging from M7-T9 and host spectral types ranging from G2-M9. These systems exhibit diverse characteristics, from young to old ages, blue to very red spectral morphologies, potential membership to known young moving groups, and evidence of spectral binarity in 9 companions. Twenty of the host stars in our sample show evidence for higher order multiplicity, with an additional 11 host stars being resolved binaries themselves. We compare this sample's characteristics with those of the known stellar binary and exoplanet populations, and find our sample begins to fill in the gap between directly imaged exoplanets and stellary binaries on mass ratio-binding energy plots. With this study, we increase the population of ultracool dwarf companions to FGK stars by $\sim$42\%, and more than triple the known population of ultracool dwarf companions with separations larger than 1,000 au, providing excellent targets for future atmospheric retrievals., Comment: 61 pages, 11 figures, 11 tables. The global mean surface temperature is widely studied to monitor climate change. A current debate centers around whether there has been a recent (post-1970s) surge/acceleration in the warming rate. This paper addresses whether an acceleration in the warming rate is detectable from a statistical perspective. We use changepoint models, which are statistical techniques specifically designed for identifying structural changes in time series. Four global mean surface temperature records over 1850-2023 are scrutinized within. Our results show limited evidence for a warming surge; in most surface temperature time series, no change in the warming rate beyond the 1970s is detected. As such, we estimate minimum changes in the warming trend for a surge to be detectable in the near future.

Recent advances in generative models, including large language models (LLMs), vision language models (VLMs), and diffusion models, have accelerated the field of natural language and image processing in medicine and marked a significant paradigm shift in how biomedical models can be developed and deployed. While these models are highly adaptable to new tasks, scaling and evaluating their usage presents new challenges not addressed in previous frameworks. In particular, the ability of these models to produce useful outputs with little to no specialized training data ("zero-" or "few-shot" approaches), as well as the open-ended nature of their outputs, necessitate the development of new guidelines for robust reporting of clinical generative model research. In response to gaps in standards and best practices for the development of clinical AI tools identified by US Executive Order 141103 and several emerging national networks for clinical AI evaluation, we begin to formalize some of these guidelines by building on the original MI-CLAIM checklist. The new checklist, MI-CLAIM-GEN (Table 1), aims to address differences in training, evaluation, interpretability, and reproducibility of new generative models compared to non-generative ("predictive") AI models. This MI-CLAIM-GEN checklist also seeks to clarify cohort selection reporting with unstructured clinical data and adds additional items on alignment with ethical standards for clinical AI research.

The third ML4H symposium was held in person on December 10, 2023, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. The symposium included research roundtable sessions to foster discussions between participants and senior researchers on timely and relevant topics for the \ac{ML4H} community. Encouraged by the successful virtual roundtables in the previous year, we organized eleven in-person roundtables and four virtual roundtables at ML4H 2022. The organization of the research roundtables at the conference involved 17 Senior Chairs and 19 Junior Chairs across 11 tables. Each roundtable session included invited senior chairs (with substantial experience in the field), junior chairs (responsible for facilitating the discussion), and attendees from diverse backgrounds with interest in the session's topic. Herein we detail the organization process and compile takeaways from these roundtable discussions, including recent advances, applications, and open challenges for each topic. We conclude with a summary and lessons learned across all roundtables. We revisit the planetary microlensing event OGLE-2013-BLG-0132/MOA-2013-BLG-148 using Keck adaptive optics imaging in 2013 with NIRC2 and in 2020, 7.4 years after the event, with OSIRIS. The 2020 observations yield a source and lens separation of $ 56.91 \pm 0.29$ mas, which provides us with a precise measurement of the heliocentric proper motion of the event $\mu_{rel,hel} = 7.695 \pm 0.039$ mas $yr^{-1}$. We measured the magnitude of the lens in K-band as $K_{lens} = 18.69 \pm 0.04 $. Using these constraints, we refit the microlensing light curve and undertake a full reanalysis of the event parameters including the microlensing parallax $\pi_{E}$ and the distance to the source D$_S$. We confirm the results obtained in the initial study by \cite{Mroz_2017} and improve significantly upon the accuracy of the physical parameters. The system is an M dwarf of $0.495 \pm 0.054$ $M_\odot$ orbited by a cold, Saturn-mass planet of $0.26 \pm 0.028$ $M_{Jup}$ at projected separation $r_{\perp}$ = 3.14 $\pm$ 0.28 AU. This work confirms that the planetary system is at a distance of 3.48 $\pm$ 0.36 kpc, which places it in the Galactic disk and not the Galactic bulge., Comment: 16 pages, 7 figures. We have experimentally demonstrated different operating modes for the front lenses of the momentum microscopes described in Part I. Measurements at energies from vacuum UV at a high-harmonic generation (HHG)-based source to the soft and hard X-ray range at a synchrotron facility validated the results of theoretical ray-tracing calculations. The key element is a ring electrode concentric with the extractor electrode, which can tailor the field in the gap. First, the gap-lens-assisted extractor mode reduces the field strength at the sample while mitigating image aberrations. This mode gave good results in all spectral ranges. Secondly, by compensating the field at the sample surface with a negative voltage at the ring electrode we can operate in zero-field mode, which is beneficial for operando experiments. Finally, higher negative voltages establish the repeller mode, which removes all slow electrons below a certain kinetic energy to eliminate the primary contribution to the space-charge interaction in pump-probe experiments. The switch from extractor to repeller mode is associated with a reduction in the k-field-of-view (10-20 % at hard-X-ray energies, increasing to ~50% at low energies). Observed exoplanet transit spectra are usually retrieved using 1D models to determine atmospheric composition while planetary atmospheres are 3D. With the JWST and future space telescopes such as Ariel, we will be able to obtain increasingly accurate transit spectra. The 3D effects on the spectra will be visible, and we can expect biases in the 1D extractions. In order to elucidate these biases, we have built theoretical observations of transit spectra, from 3D atmospheric modeling through transit modeling to instrument modeling. 3D effects are observed to be strongly nonlinear from the coldest to the hottest planets. These effects also depend on the planet's metallicity and gravity. Considering equilibrium chemistry, 3D effects are observed through very strong variations in certain features of the molecule or very small variations over the whole spectrum. We conclude that we cannot rely on the uncertainty of retrievals at all pressures, and that we must be cautious about the results of retrievals at the top of the atmosphere. However the results are still fairly close to the truth at mid-altitudes (those probed). We also need to be careful with the chemical models used for planetary atmosphere. If the chemistry of one molecule is not correctly described, this will bias all the others, and the retrieved temperature as well. Finally, although fitting a wider wavelength range and higher resolution has been shown to increase retrieval accuracy, we show that this could depend on the wavelength range chosen, due to the accuracy on modeling the different features. In any case, 1D retrievals are still correct for the detection of molecules, even in the event of an erroneous abundance retrieval.

Amorphous ice phases are key constituents of water's complex structural landscape. This study investigates the polyamorphic nature of water, focusing on the complexities within low-density amorphous ice (LDA), high-density amorphous ice (HDA), and the recently discovered medium-density amorphous ice (MDA). We use rotationally-invariant, high-dimensional order parameters to capture a wide spectrum of local symmetries for the characterisation of local oxygen environments. We train a neural network (NN) to classify these local environments, and investigate the distinctiveness of MDA within the structural landscape of amorphous ice. Our results highlight the difficulty in accurately differentiating MDA from LDA due to structural similarities. Beyond water, our methodology can be applied to investigate the structural properties and phases of disordered materials.

A complete accounting of nearby objects -- from the highest-mass white dwarf progenitors down to low-mass brown dwarfs -- is now possible, thanks to an almost complete set of trigonometric parallax determinations from Gaia, ground-based surveys, and Spitzer follow-up. We create a census of objects within a Sun-centered sphere of 20-pc radius and check published literature to decompose each binary or higher-order system into its separate components. The result is a volume-limited census of $\sim$3,600 individual star formation products useful in measuring the initial mass function across the stellar ($<8 M_\odot$) and substellar ($\gtrsim 5 M_{Jup}$) regimes. Comparing our resulting initial mass function to previous measurements shows good agreement above 0.8$M_\odot$ and a divergence at lower masses. Our 20-pc space densities are best fit with a quadripartite power law, $\xi(M) = dN/dM \propto M^{-\alpha}$ with long-established values of $\alpha = 2.3$ at high masses ($0.55 < M < 8.00 M_\odot$) and $\alpha = 1.3$ at intermediate masses ($0.22 < M < 0.55 M_\odot$), but at lower masses we find $\alpha = 0.25$ for $0.05 < M <0.22 M_\odot$ and $\alpha = 0.6$ for $0.01 < M < 0.05 M_\odot$. This implies that the rate of production as a function of decreasing mass diminishes in the low-mass star/high-mass brown dwarf regime before increasing again in the low-mass brown dwarf regime. Parametric amplifiers play a crucial role in modern quantum technology by enabling the enhancement of weak signals with minimal added noise. Traditionally, Josephson junctions have been the primary choice for constructing parametric amplifiers. Nevertheless, high-kinetic inductance thin films have emerged as viable alternatives to engineer the necessary nonlinearity. In this work, we introduce and characterize a Kinetic Inductance Parametric Amplifier (KIPA) built using high-quality NbN superconducting thin films. The KIPA addresses some of the limitations of traditional Josephson-based parametric amplifiers, excelling in dynamic range, operational temperature, and magnetic field resilience. We demonstrate a quantum-limited amplification (> 20 dB) with a 20 MHz gain-bandwidth product, operational at fields up to 6 Tesla and temperatures as high as 850 mK. Harnessing kinetic inductance in NbN thin films, the KIPA emerges as a robust solution for quantum signal amplification, enhancing research possibilities in quantum information processing and low-temperature quantum experiments. Its magnetic field compatibility and quantum-limited performance at high temperatures make it an invaluable tool, promising new advancements in quantum research., Comment: 19 pages, 12 figures

We present high angular resolution imaging that detects the MOA-2008-BLG-379L exoplanet host star using Keck adaptive optics and the Hubble Space Telescope. These observations reveal host star and planet masses of $M_{\rm host}=0.434\pm0.065 M_\odot$, and $m_p=2.44 \pm 0.49 M_{\rm Jupiter}$. They are located at a distance of $D_L=3.44\pm0.53\,$kpc, with a projected separation of $2.70\pm 0.42\,$AU. These results contribute to our determination of exoplanet host star masses for the Suzuki et al. (2016) statistical sample, which will determine the dependence of the planet occurrence rate on the mass and distance of the host stars. We also present a detailed discussion of the image constrained modeling version of the eesunhong light curve modeling code that applies high angular resolution image constraints to the light curve modeling process. This code increases modeling efficiency by a large factor by excluding models that are inconsistent with the high angular resolution images. The analysis of this and other events from the Suzuki et al. (2016) statistical sample reveals the importance of including higher order effects, such as microlensing parallax and planetary orbital motion even when these features are not required to fit the light curve data. The inclusion of these effects may be needed to obtain accurate estimates of the uncertainty of other microlensing parameters that affect the inferred properties of exoplanet microlens systems. In open quantum systems, first- and second-order dissipative phase transitions (DPTs) can emerge in the thermodynamic limit from the competition between unitary evolution, driving terms, and dissipation. The order of a DPT is defined by the continuity properties of the steady state. Until now, second-order DPTs have predominantly been investigated theoretically, while first-order DPTs have been observed in key experiments based on the theory of the single-photon driven Kerr resonator. We present here the first comprehensive experimental and theoretical analysis of both first and second-order DPTs in a two-photon (i.e., parametrically) driven Kerr superconducting resonator. Firstly, we characterize the steady state and its main features at the second- and first-order critical points: squeezing below vacuum and coexistence of two phases with different photon numbers, respectively. Then, by continuously monitoring the system along quantum trajectories, we study the non-equilibrium dynamics across the critical points. We witness the hysteresis cycles associated with the first-order DPT and the spontaneous symmetry breaking due to the second-order DPT. Applying the spectral theory of the Liouvillian superoperator, we develop efficient procedures to quantify the critical slowing down associated with the timescales of these processes. When scaling towards the thermodynamic limit, these timescales span five orders of magnitude. Our results corroborate the predictions derived using the Liouvillian theory of DPTs. This work stands as a compelling example of engineering and controlling of criticality in superconducting circuits. Hyperspectral unmixing aims at decomposing a given signal into its spectral signatures and its associated fractional abundances. To improve the accuracy of this decomposition, algorithms have included different assumptions depending on the application. The goal of this study is to develop a new unmixing algorithm that can be applied for the calibration of multi-point scintillation dosimeters used in the field of radiation therapy. This new algorithm is based on a non-negative matrix factorization. It incorporates a partial prior knowledge on both the abundances and the endmembers of a given signal. It is shown herein that, following a precise calibration routine, it is possible to use partial prior information about the fractional abundances, as well as on the endmembers, in order to perform a simplified yet precise calibration of these dosimeters. Validation and characterization of this algorithm is made using both simulations and experiments. The experimental validation shows an improvement in accuracy compared to previous algorithms with a mean spectral angle distance (SAD) on the estimated endmembers of 0.0766, leading to an average error of $(0.25 \pm 0.73)$ % on dose measurements., Comment: 12 pages, 6 figures

The topology of the electronic band structure of solids can be described by its Berry curvature distribution across the Brillouin zone. We theoretically introduce and experimentally demonstrate a general methodology based on the measurement of energy- and momentum-resolved optical transition rates, allowing to reveal signatures of Berry curvature texture in reciprocal space. By performing time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy of atomically thin WSe$_2$ using polarization-modulated excitations, we demonstrate that excitons become an asset in extracting the quantum geometrical properties of solids. Electromagnetic tracking (EMT) shows great potential for automating implant reconstruction in brachytherapy. One of the challenges of this technology is that it does not intrinsically share the same reference frame as the patient's medical imaging. The purpose of this work is to register the reference frames of an EMT-enabled afterloader and a CT scan image of a rigid phantom for quality control of EMT-based implant reconstruction. The geometry of twelve 6F catheters and a tandem and ring gynecological applicator were reconstructed using an EMT sensor attached to an afterloader's check cable. All EMT reconstructions were done in three different environments: disturbance free, CT-on-rails brachytherapy suite and MRI brachytherapy suite. Implants were reconstructed using two acquisition methods: step-and-record and continuous motion. A CT scan of the phantom was obtained and manually reconstructed in the treatment planning system, with the help of the solid model of the applicator. Rigid registration algorithms were used to register EMT and CT scan reference frames using corresponding points from the EMT and CT based reconstructions of the phantom, following three approaches: one gynecological applicator, four catheters inside four calibration plates having and S-shaped path, and four ceramic marbles within the calibration plates. The absolute median deviation from the expected value for EMT measurements in all three environments significantly lie below the sensor's expected accuracy of 0.70 mm (p < 0.001), suggesting that the environment did not have a significant impact on the measurements, given that care is taken in the immediate surroundings. In all three environments, the two acquisition and three registration approaches have a mean and median registration errors (perpendicular distance) that lie at or below 1 mm, which is lower than the clinical acceptable threshold of 2 mm.

Embodiment has recently enjoyed renewed consideration as a means to amplify the faculties of smart machines. Proponents of embodiment seem to imply that optimizing for movement in physical space promotes something more than the acquisition of niche capabilities for solving problems in physical space. However, there is nothing in principle which should so distinguish the problem of action selection in physical space from the problem of action selection in more abstract spaces, like that of language. Rather, what makes embodiment persuasive as a means toward higher intelligence is that it promises to capture, but does not actually realize, contingent facts about certain bodies (living intelligence) and the patterns of activity associated with them. These include an active resistance to annihilation and revisable constraints on the processes that make the world intelligible. To be theoretically or practically useful beyond the creation of niche tools, we argue that "embodiment" cannot be the trivial fact of a body, nor its movement through space, but the perpetual negotiation of the function, design, and integrity of that body$\unicode{x2013}$that is, to participate in what it means to $\textit{constitute}$ a given body. It follows that computer programs which are strictly incapable of traversing physical space might, under the right conditions, be more embodied than a walking, talking robot.

Equipping robots with the sense of touch is critical to emulating the capabilities of humans in real world manipulation tasks. Visuotactile sensors are a popular tactile sensing strategy due to data output compatible with computer vision algorithms and accurate, high resolution estimates of local object geometry. However, these sensors struggle to accommodate high deformations of the sensing surface during object interactions, hindering more informative contact with cm-scale objects frequently encountered in the real world. The soft interfaces of visuotactile sensors are often made of hyperelastic elastomers, which are difficult to simulate quickly and accurately when extremely deformed for tactile information. Additionally, many visuotactile sensors that rely on strict internal light conditions or pattern tracking will fail if the surface is highly deformed. In this work, we propose an algorithm that fuses proximity and visuotactile point clouds for contact patch segmentation that is entirely independent from membrane mechanics. This algorithm exploits the synchronous, high-res proximity and visuotactile modalities enabled by an extremely deformable, selectively transmissive soft membrane, which uses visible light for visuotactile sensing and infrared light for proximity depth. We present the hardware design, membrane fabrication, and evaluation of our contact patch algorithm in low (10%), medium (60%), and high (100%+) membrane strain states. We compare our algorithm against three baselines: proximity-only, tactile-only, and a membrane mechanics model. Our proposed algorithm outperforms all baselines with an average RMSE under 2.8mm of the contact patch geometry across all strain ranges. We demonstrate our contact patch algorithm in four applications: varied stiffness membranes, torque and shear-induced wrinkling, closed loop control for whole body manipulation, and pose estimation.
