Abstract

Dans ce travail, j’aborderai l’enseignement des mathématiques à l’extérieur au cycle 1. En effet, plusieurs auteurs ont constaté les bienfaits des sorties pédagogiques. Alors, pourquoi ne pas les tester dans le but de donner davantage de sens aux mathématiques ? Mon mémoire a, comme objectif, d’exemplifier et de préciser ce qu’est réellement une sortie pédagogique à l’aide d’une séquence didactique. La séquence est réfléchie dans le but de contextualiser les savoirs et également de donner du sens aux apprentissages. Elle est, ensuite, menée dans une classe, avec, comme deuxième objectif l’observation des comportements et attitudes des élèves lors des sorties. Finalement, je cherche, dans mon analyse, à prouver que la sortie n’est pas une perte de temps et peut avoir tout son sens. Pour conclure, il me sera possible d’amener plusieurs pistes permettant de donner du sens aux apprentissages indépendamment des sorties.

27. Two-phase flow pattern recognition in a varying section based on void fraction and pressure measurements

Abstract

In a hydroelectric turbine, the air injected during operation has an impact on the yield of the machine leading to important losses of energy. To understand those losses and be able to reduce them, a first step is to understand the pattern of the two-phase flows and describe their characteristics in the turbine. Those two-phase flows can be bubbly, intermittent, or annular, with different types of intermittent flow possible. Two-phase flow patterns are well defined in classical geometries such as cylinders with reliable descriptions available [5]. But, there is a critical lack of knowledge for flow patterns in other geometries. In our present work we take interest into a geometry that is a pipe with periodical changes of the section and realize a flow pattern map. To realize this map, we measure the pressure variations and void fraction fluctuations while changing the flow rates of water and air in our test section. We then use our physical understanding of the phenomena to analyze data and identify different flow patterns, characterize them, and build a new flow pattern map.

The article discusses research which explored the transverse and rotational galloping of square cylinders at low Reynolds number. Topics discussed include the use of two-dimensional fluid-structure interaction simulations, finite element formulation designed for fluid-structure interaction simulations and the free angular and translational responses of the square cylinder mounted on torsional and translational springs in cross-flow.
