Each year, unwanted plant pests and diseases, such as Hendel or potato soft rot, cause damage to crops and ecosystems all over the world. To continue to feed the growing population and protect the global ecosystems, the surveillance and management of the spread of these pests and diseases are crucial. Traditional methods of detection are often expensive, bulky and require expertise and training. Therefore, inexpensive, portable, and user-friendly methods are required. These include the use of different gas-sensing technologies to exploit volatile organic compounds released by plants under stress. These methods often meet these requirements, although they come with their own set of advantages and disadvantages, including the sheer number of variables that affect the profile of volatile organic compounds released, such as sensitivity to environmental factors and availability of soil nutrients or water, and sensor drift. Furthermore, most of these methods lack research on their use under field conditions. More research is needed to overcome these disadvantages and further understand the feasibility of the use of these methods under field conditions. This paper focuses on applications of different gas-sensing technologies from over the past decade to detect plant pests and diseases more efficiently.

Bu Yüksek Lisans Tez çalışmasında iki adet katkısız bakır (II) oksit (CuO), bir adet katkısız bakır (I) oksit (Cu2O), bir adet kalay (Sn) katkılı bakır (II) oksit, bir adet çinko (Zn) katkılı bakır (II) oksit ve bir adet kadmiyum (Cd) katkılı bakır (II) oksit olmak üzere toplam altı adet ince film üretilmiştir. Katkılı-katkısız bakır (II) oksit ince filmler uygulaması kolay ve maliyeti ucuz olan Kimyasal Banyo Depolama tekniği (CBD) ile bakır (I) oksit ince film ise Fiziksel Buhar Biriktirme (PVD) tekniği ile hazırlanmıştır. Üretilen bu filmlerin su ve toluen buharlarını algılamaları test edilmiştir. Gaz ölçümlerinin yapılabilmesi için filmler İnter-Dijital Dönüştürücü (IDT) yapıları üzerine üretilmiştir. İnter-Dijital Dönüştürücüler Spin Kaplama ve Kimyasal Aşındırma yöntemlerinin beraber kullanımı ile hazırlanmıştır. Gaz algılama ölçümleri hem ortam sıcaklığına hem de gaz konsantrasyonuna bağlı olarak sabit voltaj altında akım-zaman grafikleri çizilerek alınmıştır. Üretilen filmlerin yapılarında bulunan parçacıkların boyutlarının belirlenmesi için Taramalı Elektron Mikroskobu (SEM) görüntüleri alınmış ve içerdikleri malzeme türünün belirlenmesi için de EDX (Enerji Ayrımlı X-Işını) analizleri yapılmıştır. In this Master of Sciences Thesis six samples of thin films which consists of two undoped copper (II) oxide (CuO) films, an undoped copper (I) oxide (Cu2O) film, a tin (Sn) doped copper (II) oxide film, a zinc (Zn) doped copper (II) oxide film and a cadmium (Cd) doped copper (II) oxide film are produced. Doped-undoped copper (II) oxide thin films are produced by using the Chemical Bath Deposition (CBD) technique -a low-priced technique- and undoped copper (I) oxide thin film is produced by the Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technique ?a high sensitive technique-. Humidity and toluene vapor sensitivity of these films are investigated. To investigate the gas sensitivities, the films are produced into the Inter-Digital Transducers (IDT). Inter-Digital Transducers are produced by Spin Coating and Chemical Etching methods. Investigation of gas sensitivities of the films are done in various ambient temperatures and in various vapor concentrations. In these conditions the graph of Current (A) vs time (s) (I-t) is recorded while the voltage is constant. To investigate the particle sizes of the films the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images are taken and to investigate the material kinds that the films contain the Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX) analysis are done. 107

Herein the deposition and characterization of CuO films with various doping concentrations of boron through the application of the SILAR method are performed. Structural, morphological, and optical properties of the films are determined by SEM with EDS, XRD, and UV/Vis spectroscopy. EDS analysis proved the boron contributions in the films. SEM images showed that boron-doping has a decreasing effect on particle size i.e. the thickness and the length of the nanostructures decreased from 45 to 30 and from 224 to 150 nm, respectively. XRD analyses demonstrated that the crystallite size of the films increased from 12.9 to 15.9 nm with increasing boron concentration which is evidence for increased crystallinity. UV/Vis spectroscopy analysis demonstrated that band gap energy value effectively decreased by boron doping.

WOS: 000522652700031, Lithium-doped CuO thin films with different concentrations are deposited by the Successive Ionic Layer Adsorption and Reaction technique on glass substrates. The films are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis. Spectroscopy, nanoindentation and in-situ scanning probe microscopy. Scanning electron microscopy showed uniform film surface and smaller particle size with increasing Li concentration. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed decreasing crystallite size with increasing Li concentration. The Raman spectra revealed CuO phases and a secondary phase of Cu2O at high doping concentrations especially after the concentration of 1.0 at.% Li. UV-Vis. Spectroscopy results indicated that the transmittance and bandgap values could be modified with Li-doping. Both of them are found to be increasing with increasing Li concentration. All indentation test load curves exhibited a smooth shape without any detected pop-in. Bu çalışmada katkısız CuO ve farklı konsantrasyonlarda Li-katkılı Li-ZnCuO filmler cam altlıklar üzerine SILAR yöntemi ile başarılı bir şekilde büyütüldü. Üretilen bu filmler metalurjik mikroskop (MM), X-ışını kırınımı (XRD) ve UV-Vis. spektroskopi ile karakterize edildi. MM sonuçları, CuO filmlerin morfolojisi üzerine Li-Zn ikili katkılama konsantrasyonunun önemli bir etkiye sahip olduğunu gösterdi. XRD verileri filmlerin nanoboyutta kristalize olduklarını ve kristallenme kalitesinin katkı konsantrasyonuna bağlı olarak değiştiğini açığa çıkardı. Uv-Vis. analiz sonuçları, filmlerin hem optik bant aralığı değerlerinde hem de geçirgenliklerinde katkı konsantrasyonuna bağlı olarak önemli farklılıkların oluştuğunu ortaya koydu., In this study, un-doped CuO, and different concentrations of Li-doped Li-ZnCuO Şlms were successfully synthesized on glass substrates by the SILAR method. The synthesized films are characterized by metallurgical microscope (MM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis. spectroscopy. MM results demonstrated that Li-Zn codoping concentration has a signiŞcant influence on morphology of CuO Şlm. XRD data revealed that the films are crystallized in nanoscale and the crystallinity is dependent on the doping concentration. Uv-Vis. analysis demonstrated that there are significant differences in the optical bad gap and transmittance values of the Şlms as a function of doping concentration.

Yapılan çalışmanın amacı, optik çeviriciye sahip, etiketsiz tanı yapabilen, kısa sürede sonuca götüren, kolay kullanılan ve gerçek zamanlı analiz imkanı sağlayan yüzey plazmon rezonans (SPR) biyosensörlerin geliştirilmesidir. Sunulan tezde SPR biyosensör sisteminin altın sensör ve A4 kağıt sensör ile üre tayini yapıp yapmadığı üzerine çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda tez çalışması iki ayrı bölüm halinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tez çalışmasının birinci bölümünde üreaz immobilize edilen altın sensörler farklı konsantrasyonlarda hazırlanan üre çözeltileri kullanılarak SPR sisteminin altın sensörlere verdiği tepkiler ölçülmüştür. Sonraki aşamada altın sensörlere immobilize edilen üreaz miktarları değiştirilerek bir önceki aşamada kullanılanlarla aynı konsantrasyonda üre çözeltileri ile yeni altın sensörlerin tepkileri ölçülmüştür. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde ise altın sensörler üzerine üreaz immobilize edilmiş A4 kağıtlar konularak birinci kısımda yapılan çalışmalar tekrarlanmıştır. Çalışmalarda kulanılan sensörler için birleşme (KA) ve ayrılma (KD) denge sabitleri her bir konsantrasyon değeri için ayrı ayrı hesaplanmıştır. Sistemde kullanılan sensör yüzeyleri için Raman ve UV-vis analizleri yapılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalar ve analizler sonucu A4 kağıt kullanılarak üretilen sensör analizlerinin yalnızca altın sensörlerle üretilen analizlerle paralel tepkiler verdiği ve bu alanda altın sensörlere alternatif bir kullanım sergiledikleri gözlemlenmiştir. The aim of the study is development of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensors with an optical transducer, shorter testing time, ability for real time analysis, capable of label-free detection and ease of use. In the thesis, it is investigated that whether the SPR biosensor system with gold sensor and A4 paper sensors can detect the amount of urea or not. In this context the thesis was carried out in two separete parts. The first part of the study, enzyme immobilization studies were performed using gold chips. The response of urease immobilized SPR sensors were measured using urea solution prepared at different concentrations. In the next step, the responses of new sensors with varying amounts immobilized urease were measured to urea solutions in the same concantration used in the previous step. In the second part of study urease immobilized A4 paper sensors were put onto the gold films and the investigations in the first part were repeated. Association (KA) and dissociation (KD) equilibrium constants were calculated for he sensors used in the experiments for each concentrations. Furthermore the UV-Vis. and Raman analysis were performed on the sensor surfaces. The results of the investigations and analises were demonstated that the A4 paper sensors have parallel results with the gold sensors which means that these paper sensors can alternatively be used as biosensors in surface plasmon resonance systems. 73
