Abstract

The primary concern in area of computational grid is security and resources. Most of the existing grids address this problem by authenticating the users, hosts and their interactions in an appropriate manner. A secured system is compulsory for the efficient utilization of grid services. The high degree of strangeness has been identified as the problem factors in the secured selection of grid. Without the assurance of a higher degree of trust relationship, competent resource selection and utilization cannot be achieved. In this paper we proposed an approach which is providing reliability and reputation aware security for resource selection in grid environment. In this approach, the self-protection capability and reputation weightage is utilized to obtain the Reliability Factor (RF) value. Therefore jobs are allocated to the resources that posses higher RF values. Extensive experimental evaluation shows that as higher trust and reliable nodes are selected the chances of failure decreased drastically., Comment: IJGCA, March 2012, Volume 3, Number 1

Abstract

In this paper, a singularly perturbed system of reaction–diffusion Boundary Value Problems (BVPs) is examined. To solve such a type of problems, a Modified Initial Value Technique (MIVT) is proposed on an appropriate piecewise uniform Shishkin mesh. The MIVT is shown to be of second order convergent (up to a logarithmic factor). Numerical results are presented which are in agreement with the theoretical results.

Abstract

Identification of rice varieties automatically is very exigent task in the field of image processing and that necessitates extensive knowledge of agricultural research and the use of computational artificial intelligence technology. The development of Automatic Rice Variety Identification System using machine as well as computer vision, machine learning and deep learning techniques is the need of hour to solve this problem. Automatic Rice Variety Identification System identifies the variety of the rice grains by comparing it with trained system. It is very challenging task due to distinct qualities of grains of numerous rice varieties available in the market and having unique inherent features. In this paper, a prototype of Automatic Rice Variety Identification System is proposed. In the proposed system, a Rice Image dataset has been prepared from different rice varieties grown in Punjab. The developed dataset contains a total number of 9692 Rice Images. The proposed system has been tested using KNN classifier resulting in 93% accuracy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Forest trees are an important pool of biodiversity at the gene, individual and an ecosystem level. This variation is a result of complex environmental interactions, as well as neutral and selective forces acting on populations. Patterns of standing genetic variation are the result of adaption to past and contemporary climate change, but also historical demographic events, and disentangling the role of these forces is a central problem in population genomics. The overall goal of this study is to characterize the relative effects of demography and selection in the genome of Populus trichocarpa, a riparian deciduous tree species of North America. Specifically, I used a variety of methods to summarize patterns of genetic diversity and population structure in P. trichocarpa, and to reconstruct its demographic history. I subsequently incorporated these demographic insights to guide the application of several methods to identify genome-wide targets of natural selection within and among rangewide populations adapted to heterogeneous selection regimes. Results of this study provide insights into the history of divergence and differentiation in P. trichocarpa populations and help us identify the functional genetic variants contributing to phenotypic divergence and fitness of the individuals in it. 43. Signatures of natural selection and local adaptation in Populus trichocarpa and Populus deltoides along latitudinal clines

Abstract

Trees, like many other organisms, decrease their rate of metabolic activities to cope up with harsh environments. This stage of "dormancy" is marked by shedding of leaves and bud-set in deciduous trees. Recent studies have revealed the role of the circadian clock in synchronizing the timing of dormancy and physiology for conferring fitness in trees. To better understand the possible role of natural selection on circadian clock-related genes in climatic adaptation, I took a candidate gene approach, selecting circadian clock genes, some of which had been functionally validated, and others hypothesized, to identify signatures of natural selection in Populus trichocarpa and P. deltoides. Using both frequency spectrum based tests and tests of heterogeneity, I identified genetic variants deviating from selective neutrality. Results reveal that photoreceptors and dormancy regulator genes may have been the targets of natural selection. Nearly the same levels of selective constraints were found in different functional groups of genes irrespective of pleiotropy. Further, upstream regions of all genes showed high selective constraint, with some of them (FT-2, PIF-4, FRIGIDA) showing significantly higher variation than the other genes, hinting at the role of non-coding regulatory regions in local adaption. In some cases, the same genes in both species appeared as outliers, including PIF-6, FRI, FT-2, SRR1, TIC, and CO, which might reflect their common role in adaptation across species boundaries. All of these results indicate a complex nature of phenology regulation and local adaptation in Populus species with photoreceptors and dormancy regulator genes playing key roles.

Abstract

Adaptation to climate across latitude and altitude reflects shared climatic constraints, which may lead to parallel adaptation. However, theory predicts that higher gene flow should favor more concentrated genomic architectures, which would lead to fewer locally maladapted recombinants., We used exome capture to resequence the gene space along a latitudinal and two altitudinal transects in the model tree Populus trichocapra. Adaptive trait phenotyping was coupled with FST outlier tests and sliding window analysis to assess the degree of parallel adaptation as well as the genomic distribution of outlier loci., Up to 51% of outlier loci overlapped between transect pairs and up to 15% of these loci overlapped among all three transects. Genomic clustering of adaptive loci was more pronounced for altitudinal than latitudinal transects. In both altitudinal transects, there was a larger number of these 'islands of divergence', which were on average longer and included several of exceptional physical length., Our results suggest that recapitulation of genetic clines over latitude and altitude involves extensive parallelism, but that steep altitudinal clines generate islands of divergence. This suggests that physical proximity of genes in coadapted complexes may buffer against the movement of maladapted alleles from geographically proximal but climatically distinct populations.
