Breast cancer is caused by a disordered development of abnormal cells in the breast region. Loss of range of motion and muscle strength in the upper limb ipsilateral to the neoplasm are the most common complications. Physiotherapy aims to improve functional capacity and return to the performance of daily activities. The objective was to investigate and describe the applicability and benefits of physiotherapeutic resources in the postoperative period of women with breast cancer. This is a systematic review of the literature carried out according to PRISMA guidelines, in the PubMed, PeDro, SciELO and VHL databases using the combination of health descriptors: "post-operative period", "physiotherapy modality", "therapeutic exercise" and "breast neoplasms" in English, Portuguese and Spanish. The eligibility of studies occurred in two stages according to inclusion and exclusion criteria: selection of titles and abstracts, and reading of the article in full. The PeDro scale was used as an assessment tool critical of the methodological quality of the studies. Eight studies comprised the result. The results showed that the applicability of physiotherapeutic resources provided benefits in the postoperative period of women with breast cancer, such as: improvement in shoulder range of motion, improvement in functional capacity, reduction in pain and limb perimetry. Average score of the studies according to the PeDro scale: 7.12 points. The studies showed that the applicability of physiotherapeutic resources, such as stretching and mobility exercises, contributed to the following benefits: gain in range of motion movement, improved functional performance and reduced pain.
