Penile curvature which can be acquired or combined with some congenital anomalies may cause trouble in sexual function or can affect the psychological status of the individual. Whatever the causes or the results are, this condition has been tried to be corrected for many years by many different techniques. Eighteen patients with penile curvature have been reviewed. Thirteen patients underwent Nesbit procedure, in 3 patients plication of the tunica albuginea was done and in 2 patients longitudinal incision and horizontal closure of the tunica albuginea were performed. In all cases the results were both functionally and cosmetically satisfying. The advantages and disadvantages of these techniques are discussed, with a review of the relevant literature.

The incidence of primary bladder and lung cancer occurring together is rare. Here, a case of a man who was diagnosed with end stage lung cancer and early stage bladder cancer was discussed with the interesting aspects. Despite the fact that the patient had a cough, weight loss and dyspnea which are the most common symptoms of lung cancer, hematuria was the main complaint that induced the patient to consult the doctor. The case is valuable for the review of the literature about multiple primary malignancies of squamous cell lung carcinoma and urinary bladder transitional cell carcinoma. It is also important for reminding clinicians to keep in mind that smoking is the most important common predisposing factor for both lung and bladder carcinoma in this case.

Introduction: A 42 year- old man with adult policystic renal disease admitted to Urology out-patient with men hemospermia without any other symptoms. Result: After detailed evaluation including transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) and specific and nonspecific cultures, multiple seminal vesicle cysts were detected. After treatment with anti-inflammatory and antiboitics, hemospermi was resolved and did not recurrence in 6 months follow up.

Transrektal Ultrasonografi (TRUS) ve spesifik, non-spesifik kültürleri içeren detaylı değerlendirme sonrası hastada vezikülo seminalis kistleri dışında herhangi bir hemospermi nedeni saptanmadı. Anti-inflamatuar ve antibiyotik tedavisi sonrası hastanın yakınmaları düzeldi ve 6 aylık takipte hemospermi tekrarlamadı. Herein, we present a case of retroperitoneoscopic simple nephrectomy for a small renal cell carcinoma in atrophic kidney. After search of Turkish indexes and Turkish publications in international indexes, we though that this case has been the first national publication of its kind.

Batislam, Ertan/0000-0002-7493-4573 WOS: 000186698900005 PubMed: 14633068 Objective: The objective of our study was to assess the efficacy of topical steroids in the treatment of phimosis and evaluate patients using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-III-Revised (DSM-III-R) test with the aim of eliminating castration anxiety of circumcision in the phallic period. Methods: One hundred and forty-nine children with phimosis who required circumcision were included the study. The average age of the children was 4.47 years. All children underwent the DSM-III-R test and their parents were questioned. Patients were separated randomly into three groups. Group I comprised 51 children who would undergo circumcision; group II comprised 50 children who would be treated with a topical corticosteroid (0.05% bethamethasone cream) twice daily for 1 month; and group III comprised 48 children who would be treated with a topical placebo cream. On the 5th day of treatment, parents were told to retract the prepuce and were given hygiene routine instructions. Patients were seen immediately after treatment and again 2 months later. Results: In group II, 16 of the 50 children had non-retractable prepuce. Forty-two cases of phimosis were corrected after treatment. Eight patients received further monthly treatment and five benefited from the second course of treatment. In group III, 17 of the 48 patients had non-retractable prepuce and four had satisfactory results. Forty-four patients received placebo treatment for another month and eventually, 40 children underwent circumcision in this group. DSM-III-R test results showed a significant shift to anxiety in the circumcision group. The were no significant differences in the other groups. Conclusion: Topical steroids for the treatment of phimosis is a highly effective treatment alternative to surgery. It avoids or delays circumcision and can be practised during the phallic period to decrease castration anxiety. The treatment is suitable for patients from any religious or cultural background.

Bu çalışmada ESWL'nin hastalarda yarattığı anksiyetenin ağrı yoğunluğu üzerinde olumsuz etkisinin ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır. ASA fiziksel durum I-II 20-64 yaşları arasında (Ortalama: 39.1) 71 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Hastalar randomize iki gruba ayrıldı. Grup I'deki hastalara işlem ile ilgili ayrıntılı bilgi verilirken Grup Il'deki hastalara bilgi verilmedi. ESWL, 3.kuşak litotriptörlerden elektrohidrolik Litho3pter (PCK ) ile gerçekleştirildi. Analjezik amaçlı Fentanyl 1mugr/kg. işlemden 2 dakika önce intravenöz olarak uygulandı. Hastaların ağrı yoğunluğu işlemin birinci dakikası ve her 10 dakikada bir 0-100 mm Visuel Analog Scala (VAS) ile değerlendirildi. Durumluk ve sürekli anksiyete State/Trait Anxiety Inventory-Trait Anxiety (STAI-TA) ve State/Trait Anxiety Inventory-State Anxiety (STAI-SA) ile ölçüldü. Sürekli anksiyete skoru ile ağrı yoğunluğu arasında ilişki tespit edilmedi. Bununla birlikte STAI-TA skoru yüksek olan hastalarda ağn yoğunluğunun daha fazla olduğu gözlendi ve bu hastalarda ek analjezik ihtiyacı daha fazla oldu. işlem ile ilgili ayrıntılı bilgi verilen grupta durumluk anksiyete ve ağrı yoğunluğu skorları daha düşük bulundu. 20-29 yaş grubundaki genç kadınlarda ağn yoğunluğu daha fazla olup durumluk anksiyete düzeyleri daha yüksek olarak tespit edildi. ESWL, anksiyete yaratan bir işlemdir. Anksiyetesi daha yoğun olan hastalarda ağrı yoğunluğunun daha fazla olduğu ve bunun da hasta memnuniyetini olumsuz etkilediği düşünülmüştür. ESWL öncesi hastaya aynntılı bilgi verilmesi, genç kadınlarda daha çok ağrı ve anksiyete olabileceğinin bilinmesi ürolog için önemli avantaj yaratabilir. Introduction: To clarify the negative effect of anxiety on pain intensity in patients, who underwent Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL). Patients and Method: ASA physical status I and II 71 patient with the age ranging 10 to 64 were included the study. Patients divided into two groups randomly. Detailed information about ESWL session was given to the patients in Group I and patients in Group II did not receive any descriptive information. All procedures were performed by a third generation electrohydraulic Stone LithoSpter (PCK ). Intravenous fentanyl 1mugr/kg. was administered 2 minutes before the procedure for analgesic purposes. Pains intensity was evaluated by 0-100 mm Visuel Analog Scala (VAS) at the first minute and every 10 minutes of the treatment. Conditional and continual anxiety were assessed by State/Trait Anxiety Inventory-Trait Anxiety (STAI-TA), and State/Trait Anxiety Inventory-State Anxiety (STAI-SA). Results: There was no correlation between STAI-SA and pain intensity. However, patients with higher STAI-TA scores needed higher doses of supplement analgesics because of higher pain intensity. Patients, who had received information, had lower scores of STAI-TA and pain intensity. Young female patients between 20-29 years old had the highest anxiety with high pain intensity. Conclusion: ESWL is an anxiety promoting procedure. The more intense pain and anxiety negatively effected the overall patient satisfaction. Detailed information of patients about the procedure and the knowledge of pain intensity has been higher in young female patients may be advantageous for patients and care givers.

The aim of this study is to describe a new technique using laparoscopic instruments for percutaneous bladder stone management and determine the efficacy of this procedure. The technique is based on percutaneous removal of the bladder stone(s) by using laparoscopic instruments under video-cystoscopic visualization. Laparoscopic large grasper or butterfly net like sac were used to extract bladder stones in six patients who were candidates of open cystolithotomy. Satisfactory results have been obtained in patients with solitary bladder stones that have diameters up to 3 cm or multiple stones. In selected cases, operation time, urethral and mucosal damage, hospital stay, and cost can be decreased to a minimum with this simple technique. It may be an alternative method to previously reported percutaneous bladder calculi management modality, in which percutaneous nephrolithotomy devices have been utilized.

Urologic lesions accompanying pelvic fractures is a well-known entity, and reports on the correlation of pediatric pelvic fracture type with lower urinary tract injury are few in the literature. We have reviewed 27 records and x-ray films of male pediatric patients who required urologic intervention after trauma to see which type of fracture, classified according to Tile, has a higher predilection of urologic injury. Most of the fractures that were considered to be mechanically stable and mainly localized to the anterior pelvic arch had urologic lesions that were generally confined to the bulbomembranous urethra (48%).
