La població infantojuvenil que presenta problemes de conducta es heterogènia. La presència de trets de duresa i insensibilitat afectiva (DIA) sembla detectar a un subgrup de nens amb risc de presentar una trajectòria particularment greu i agressiva de comportament antisocial. Un grup de recerca de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), en col·laboració amb un grup de la Universitat de Lleida (UdL), han estudiat les característiques psicomètriques d'un nou mètode d'avaluació per a la detecció primerenca d'aquests trets. Aquest treball s'ha realitzat en col·laboració amb l'autor de l'instrument, el Dr. Paul Frick, en dos centres de justícia juvenil de Catalunya. Este trabajo se ha realizado en colaboración con el autor del instrumento, el Dr. Paul Frick, en dos centros de justicia juvenil de Cataluña. Children and adolescent populations with behavior problems are heterogeneous. The presence of callous-unemotional (CU) traits seems to reveal a subgroup of children at risk of presenting a particularly severe and aggressive trajectory of antisocial behavior. A research group from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), in collaboration with a group from the Universitat de Lleida (UdL), studied the psychometric characteristics of a new assessment method for the early detection of these traits. This work has been carried out in collaboration with the author of the instrument, Dr. Paul Frick, in two juvenile justice centers in Catalonia.

Introducción. La empatía es la capacidad de identificar los pensamientos y sentimientos de los demás, y responder con una emoción adecuada. El modelo multidimensional permite discriminar entre la empatía cognitiva y afectiva. Si hay un bloqueo en la regulación emocional, la empatía puede transformarse en ansiedad y dolor. Objetivos. Explorar el modelo multidimensional de la empatía y plantear propuestas de regulación emocional en función del género y de los valores extremos de empatía. Métodos. Estudio observacional en una muestra de 151 estudiantes universitarios. Se evalúa el modelo multidimensional de la empatía mediante las subescalas del Interpersonal Reactivity Index: empatía cognitiva (IRI-Perspective Taking, IRI-Fantasy Scale) y empatía afectiva (IRI-Empathetic Concern, IRI-Personal Distress). La escala Empathy Quotient permite detectar los valores extremos de empatía. Resultados. La mayoría de los participantes, 110 (78.8%) eran mujeres. 130 (86.1%) tenían niveles de empatía medios, 11 (7.3%) mostraron empatía baja y 10 (6.6%) empatía muy alta. La empatía fue mayor en mujeres en IRI-Fantasy Scale (p=0.042), IRI-Empathetic Concern (p=0.002) y en Empathy Quotient (0.047). Los sujetos con empatía muy alta tenían puntuaciones mayores en IRI-Perspective Taking (p=0.005) y en IRI-Empathetic Concern (p, Psicosomàtica y Psiquiatría, Núm. 10 (2019): julio-agosto-septiembre

Introduction: The evolution of empathy among medical students according to gender and specialty preference is explored using several validated scales. The value of our feedback to the medical students at the end of the study is also assessed. Materials and methods: A total of 151 students completed the initial questionnaire, including the following scales: Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy (JSPE), Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), and Empathy Quotient (EQ). The final questionnaire was completed by 99 of them. Results: According to the EQ classification, it was found that 7.3% of students had low empathy, 49.7% average, 36.4% above average, and 6.6% very high. Empathy was higher among women in IRI-FS, IRI-EC, and EQ. Students who preferred people-oriented specialties score higher in JSPE and EQ. The IRI-Fantasy Scale was the only scale that shows increased scores on follow-up and in students with preference for people-oriented specialties. Discussion: This study shows that most of the medical students in our sample had a good level of empathy. Empathy was unchanged throughout the follow-up. Medical students had different profiles of empathy. In extreme profiles, feedback could offer advice in the process of choosing a specialty to best suit their empathic skills. Introducción: Se explora la evolución de la empatía en estudiantes de medicina utilizando a lavez varias escalas validadas, teniendo en cuenta el sexo y la preferencia de especialidad. Alfinal del estudio se realizó feedback de los resultados a los estudiantes.Materiales y métodos: Ciento cincuenta y un estudiantes de medicina completaron el cues-tionario inicial con las siguientes escalas: Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy, InterpersonalReactivity Index (IRI), Empathy Quotient (EQ) y Systemizing Quotient. Noventa y nueve de ellosfinalizaron el estudio de seguimiento.Resultados: Según la clasificación de la EQ encontramos un 7,3% de estudiantes con bajaempatía, un 49,7% media, un 36,4% por encima de la media y un 6,6% muy alta. La empatíafue mayor en mujeres en IRI-Fantasy Scale, IRI-Empathetic Concern y EQ. En los estudiantescon preferencia de especialidad orientada a las personas la empatía fue mayor en JeffersonScale of Physician Empathy y EQ. IRI-Fantasy Scale fue la única escala que aumentó durante elseguimiento y en los estudiantes con orientación a las personas.Discusión: Este estudio mostró que la mayoría de los estudiantes de medicina de nuestra mues-tra tenían un buen nivel de empatía, y que la empatía apenas se modificó durante el períodode seguimiento. Los estudiantes de medicina tenían diferentes perfiles de empatía, algunos deellos con valores extremos. En estos perfiles el feedback permite ofrecer asesoramiento en elproceso de elegir una especialidad para adaptarse mejor a sus habilidades empáticas.

Neurosci. 10:119. doi: 10.3389/fncom.2016.00119 Technical advances, particularly the integration of wearable and embedded sensors, facilitate tracking of physiological responses in a less intrusive way. Currently, there are many devices that allow gathering biometric measurements from human beings, such as EEG Headsets or Health Bracelets. The massive data sets generated by tracking of EEG and physiology may be used, among other things, to infer knowledge about human moods and emotions. Apart from direct biometric signal measurement, eye tracking systems are nowadays capable of determining the point of gaze of the users when interacting in ICT environments, which provides an added value research on many different areas, such as psychology or marketing. We present a process in which devices for eye tracking, biometric, and EEG signal measurements are synchronously used for studying both basic and complex emotions. We selected the least intrusive devices for different signal data collection given the study requirements and cost constraints, so users would behave in the most natural way possible. On the one hand, we have been able to determine basic emotions participants were experiencing by means of valence and arousal. On the other hand, a complex emotion such as empathy has also been detected. To validate the usefulness of this approach, a study involving forty-four people has been carried out, where they were exposed to a series of affective stimuli while their EEG activity, biometric signals, and eye position were synchronously recorded to detect self-regulation. The hypothesis of the work was that people who self-regulated would show significantly different results when analyzing their EEG data. Participants were divided into two groups depending on whether Electro Dermal Activity (EDA) data indicated they self-regulated or not. The comparison of the results obtained using different machine learning algorithms for emotion recognition shows that using EEG activity alone as a predictor for self-regulation does not allow properly determining whether a person in self-regulation its emotions while watching affective stimuli. However, adequately combining different data sources in a synchronous way to detect emotions makes it possible to overcome the limitations of single detection methods. Objectiu: Estudiar l'empatia en estudiants de medicina des d’una perspectiva psicomètrica, biomètrica, d'evolució, i valorar propostes d'assessorament i d’intervenció psico-educativa. Metodologia: Estudi sobre l'empatia i la relació amb l'evolució, sexe, preferència d'especialitat, personalitat i mesures biomètriques, així com la implementació de propostes d'intervenció. Resultats: Les dones i els estudiants amb preferència d'especialitat orientada a les persones tenien més empatia, que no va disminuir durant el seguiment. El sexe i preferència d'especialitat van modificar la relació entre empatia i personalitat. El dispositiu biomètric eye-tracker va mostrar un patró de mirada diferent en valors extrems d'empatia. La privació sensorial i shadowing patients van permetre identificar i quantificar les diferents emocions experimentades. Conclusions: La majoria dels estudiants tenen un bon nivell d'empatia que es manté durant el seguiment. Proposem combinar diferents escales i dispositius biomètrics en els projectes d'estudi, assessorament i intervenció, especialment en estudiants amb puntuacions extremes d'empatia., Objetivo: Estudiar la empatía en estudiantes de medicina desde una perspectiva psicométrica, biométrica, de evolución, y valorar propuestas de asesoramiento e intervención psicoeducativa. Conclusions: Most students have a good level of empathy that remains in the follow-up study. hat doesn’t decrease in the follow-up. We propose combining different scales and biometric devices in empathy research projects, and that intervention projects should be part of medical students’ formation, especially in those with extreme empathy scores.

L’objectiu de l’estudi és comparar l’eficàcia entre un grup de tractament multidisciplinar que inclou teràpia cognitiu-conductual, un grup de teràpia basada en el Mindfulness i un grup control en la clínica afectiva, de dolor, alteracions del son, impacte, qualitat de vida, catastrofisme i autoeficàcia, així com en mesures neuropsicològiques atencionals i executives. La mostra final està conformada per pacients de la unitat de fibromiàlgia que havent estat assignats a tots dos grups experimentals de forma aleatòria, han finalitzat el grup i han realitzat la valoració pretest i postest. Alhora s’ha comparat amb un grup control de llista d’espera. Els resultats mostren milloria en clínica afectiva i ansiosa, rumiació i autoeficàcia del dolor en el grup MNDF i milloria en funcionalitat física en el grup MD. Tots dos tractaments mostren una milloria significativa en la clínica afectiva i ansiosa, catastrofisme, autoeficàcia i qualitat de vida en relació al grup control., El objetivo del estudio es comparar la eficacia entre un grupo de tratamiento multidisciplinar que incluye terapia cognitivo-conductual, un grupo de terapia basada en el Mindfulness y un grupo control, en la clínica afectiva, de dolor, alteraciones del sueño, impacto, calidad de vida, catastrofismo y autoeficacia, así como en medidas neuropsicológicas atencionales y ejecutivas. La muestra final está conformada por pacientes de la unidad de fibromialgia que habiendo sido asignados a los dos grupos experimentales de forma aleatoria, han finalizado el grupo y han realizado la valoración pretest y postest. Asimismo se ha comparado con un grupo control de lista de espera. Los resultados muestran mejoría en clínica afectiva y ansiosa, rumiación y autoeficacia del dolor en el grupo MNDF y mejoría en funcionalidad física en el grupo MD. Ambos tratamientos muestran una mejoría significativa en la clínica afectiva y ansiosa, catastrofismo, autoeficacia y calidad de vida en relación al grupo control., The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy between a multidisciplinary treatment group that includes cognitive behavioural therapy, a group of Mindfulness-based therapy and a control group in depression, pain, sleep disturbances, impact and quality of life, self-efficacy and catastrophizing, as well as neuropsychological measures of attention and executive function. The final sample is formed by patients with fibromyalgia who have been assigned to two experimental groups randomly, completed the group and made pretest and post-test assessment. At the same time was compared with a waiting list control group. The results show improvement in clinical and emotional anxiety, self-efficacy rumination and pain in the group MNDF and improvement in physical function in the group MD. Both treatments show significant improvement in clinical and emotional anxiety, catastrophizing, self-efficacy and quality of life comparing with the control group.

Objectiu: L’objectiu principal d’aquest estudi és descriure les troballes a nivell clínic, neuropsicològic i de neuroimatge derivats de l’estudi d’una mostra de subjectes empresonats avaluats amb la PCL-R. Metodologia: Aquesta tesi està formada per quatre estudis on s’investiga la comorbiditat dels diferents trastorns de la personalitat amb la psicopatia, així com les funcions executives, la impulsivitat, el reconeixement de les emocions i la correlació entre el reconeixement emocional i l’estructura regional cerebral en una mostra intrapenitenciaria de subjectes antisocials i psicòpates. Resultats: A la nostra mostra trobem un percentatge del 100% de trastorn antisocial de la personalitat en subjectes psicòpates. Els subjectes antisocials amb trastorn psicopàtic presenten una millor funció executiva que els subjectes antisocials sense psicopatia, i similars als controls. Els subjectes antisocials van ser més impulsius, mentre que els psicòpates van mostrar dèficits en el reconeixement d’algunes emocions i alteracions volumètriques cerebrals en àrees de reconeixement de les emocions., Objetivo: El objetivo principal del presente trabajo es describir los hallazgos clínicos, neuropsicológicos y de neuroimagen derivados del estudio de una muestra de sujetos intrapenitenciarios evaluados con la PCL-R. Metodología: Esta tesis está formada por cuatro estudios dónde se investiga la comorbilidad de los diferentes trastornos de la personalidad con la psicopatía, así como las funciones ejecutivas, la impulsividad, el reconocimiento de las emociones y la correlación entre el reconocimiento emocional y la estructura regional cerebral en una muestra intrapenitenciaria de sujetos antisociales y psicópatas. Resultados: En nuestra muestra encontramos un porcentaje del 100% de trastorno antisocial de la personalidad en sujetos psicópatas. Los sujetos antisociales con trastorno psicopático presentan una mejor función ejecutiva que los sujetos antisociales sin psicopatía, y similares a los controles. Los sujetos antisociales fueron más impulsivos, mientras que los psicópatas mostraron déficits en el reconocimiento de algunas emociones y alteraciones volumétricas cerebrales en áreas de reconocimiento de las emociones., Objective: The main purpose of the study is to describe clinical, neuropsychological and neuroimaging findings derived from a sample of incarcerated subjects evaluated with the PCL-R. Methodology: This thesis consists of four studies which investigate the comorbidity of different personality disorders with psychopathy, as well as executive functions, impulsivity, recognizing emotions and the correlation between emotion recognition and regional brain structure in a imprisoned sample of antisocial and psychopath subjects. Results: In our sample, 100% of the psychopaths obtained an antisocial personality disorder diagnosis. Antisocial offenders with psychopathy had better executive functions compared to antisocial offenders without psychopathy, and similar to controls. The antisocial subjects were more impulsive, whereas psychopaths showed some deficits in emotion recognition and volumetric brain abnormalities in relation to areas involved in recognizing emotions.

Se ha evaluado la Inteligencia Emocional (IE) a 99 pacientes con Trastorno de la Conducta Alimentaria (TCA). Sus resultados se han comparado con los obtenidos por el grupo control (99 personas sin TCA). Se ha relacionado la IE con variables psicopatológicas valoradas con el EAT, STAI, BDI y BSI. Los pacientes con TCA presentan menos IE que los controles en la puntuación Total del MSCEIT y en las ramas de Comprensión y Manejo Emocional del área Estratégica. Los déficits del grupo TCA respecto al grupo Control muestran un perfil emocional similar al encontrado en otros estudios realizados con el MSCEIT en otras poblaciones clínicas. No se encuentran diferencias en IE entre los subtipos TCA. La presencia y gravedad de los síntomas clínicos están relacionados con el nivel de IE: a menor IE, mayor psicopatología clínica ansiosa, depresiva y malestar emocional general. En el estudio longitudinal realizado en pacientes con TCA no se encuentran diferencias en las habilidades de IE entre las dos evaluaciones (2010-2013)., S’ha avaluat la Intel•ligència Emocional (IE) a 99 pacients amb Trastorn de la Conducta Alimentaria (TCA). Els resultats han estat comparats amb els obtinguts pel grup control (99 persones sense TCA). S'ha relacionat la IE amb variables psicopatològiques valorades amb l’EAT, STAI, BDI i BSI. No es troben diferencies en IE entre els subtipus TCA. La presència i gravetat dels símptomes clínics estan relacionats amb el nivell d’IE: a menor IE, major psicopatologia clínica ansiosa, depressiva i malestar emocional general. En l’estudi longitudinal realitzat a pacients amb TCA no es troben diferències en les habilitats d’IE entre les dues avaluacions (2010-2013)., We have assessed the Emotional Intelligence (EI) to 99 patients with Eating Disorder (ED). The results are compared with those of the control group (99 people without eating disorder). EI is related to psychopathological variables evaluated with the EAT, STAI, BDI and BSI. Patients with ED have less EI than controls in MSCEIT Total score, and in the Understanding and Managing emotions from Strategic area. The deficits in ED group compared to the control group show a similar emotional profile to that found in other studies with MSCEIT in other clinical populations. No differences are found in EI between ED subtypes. In the ED group the presence and severity of clinical symptoms are related to the level of IE: a lower EI, higher level of anxious and depressive psychopathology and more general distress. In the longitudinal study of patients with ED we have not found differences in EI skills between the two assessments (2010-2013).
