The manufacturing industry is an industry that contributes significantly as the main driver of economic growth in Indonesia, which is a developing country, so it is an attractive investment option for investors. Investors generally make an assessment using financial ratios to determine the value of the company to be invested in. Various factors can affect the value of the company. This study aims to determine the effect of financial performance (as measured by liquidity, leverage, and profitability ratios), company growth and institutional ownership on firm value with dividend policy as a moderating variable. This quantitative study uses a sample of 44 manufacturing companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2017-2021 period, which were determined by purposive sampling. The analysis method used in this research is Moderated Regression Analysis. The results showed that financial performance, company growth and institutional ownership positively affect firm value. A dividend policy can moderate the effect of financial performance, company growth and institutional ownership on firm value.

People in today's digital era are required to be able to utilize technology in the business world, including MSME players with the target of improving more optimal performance. The success of an MSME in the business world is determined based on the performance produced, so it is important to determine the factors that can affect the performance of MSMEs. This study aims to determine the effect of digital payments and financial literacy on MSME performance mediated by financial inclusion. The population in this study is all MSMEs in Denpasar City during 2021, amounting to 32,026 MSMEs. The sample was determined by the purposive sampling method and calculated based on the Slovin formula so that a sample of 100 MSMEs was obtained. The data analysis technique used in this study is SemPLS. The results showed that digital payments and financial literacy have a positive and significant effect on financial inclusion. The more innovation and development in digital payments and the better financial knowledge of business actors tend to bring significant changes to financial inclusion. Digital payments, financial literacy, and financial inclusion have a positive and significant effect on the performance of MSMEs. Through digital payments and financial knowledge that is owned can provide convenience for users, it will then have an impact on improving the performance of MSMEs. In addition, financial inclusion mediates the influence of digital payments and financial literacy on the performance of MSMEs in Denpasar City. The existence of financial inclusion makes it easier for business actors to get financial access that can support the use of digital payments and financial literacy owned by MSME actors in creating optimal business performance.

Economic growth, as measured by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), is an indicator of a country’s welfare and progress. Bank Indonesia as the party responsible for monetary policy strives to build synergy between financial markets and economic growth. The banking sector plays a prominent role in the country’s economic growth. This study analyzed the effect of banking performance on economic growth using the CAMEL approach. Collecting data from 39 banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2015 to 2020, this study employed the dynamic panel data regression with the GMM approach for data analysis. The results of the study show that banking performance as represented by the CAMEL approach affects economic growth. The CAMEL approach in this study consists of the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Loan (NPL), Net Interest Margin (NIM), Return on Asset (ROA), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), each of which has a distinct effect. CAR, NIM, and ROA show a significant positive effect on economic growth. On the other hand, the NPL and LDR show a significant negative effect on economic growth.

This article discusses the importance of effective leadership and financial performance in ensuring the sustainability of microfinance institutions (MFIs). The study conducted a review of articles published between 2015 and 2023 and found that strong leadership and financial performance are positively correlated with MFI sustainability. Strong leadership within MFIs helps create a strong organizational culture, articulate a clear vision, motivate employees, and manage risks effectively. Additionally, strong financial performance is crucial for MFI sustainability as it builds trust among customers, supports business growth, and secures profits. The article emphasizes the need for investment in leadership development and the implementation of robust financial practices to ensure the long-term success of MFIs and their ability to contribute to societal development. Chronic exposure to environmental pollutants is often associated with systemic inflammation. As such, cigarette smoking contributes to inflammation and lung diseases by inducing senescence of pulmonary cells such as pneumocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. Yet, how smoking worsens evolution of chronic inflammatory disorders associated with Th17 lymphocytes, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn's disease, and multiple sclerosis, is largely unknown. Results from human studies show an increase in inflammatory CD4 + Th17 lymphocytes at blood- and pulmonary level in smokers. The aim of the study was to evaluate the sensitivity of CD4 + Th17 lymphocytes to cigarette smoke-induced senescence. Mucosa-homing CCR6 + Th17- were compared to CCR6 neg -and regulatory T peripheral lymphocytes after exposure to cigarette smoke extract (CSE). Senescence sensitivity of CSE-exposed cells was assessed by determination of various senescence biomarkers (β-galactosidase activity, p16 Ink4a - and p21 expression) and cytokines production. CCR6 + Th17 cells showed a higher sensitivity to CSE-induced senescence compared to controls, which is associated to oxidative stress and higher VEGFα secretion. Pharmacological targeting of ROS- and ERK1/2 signalling pathways prevented CSE-induced senescence of CCR6 + Th17 lymphocytes as well as VEGFα secretion. Altogether, these results identify mechanisms by which pro-oxidant environmental pollutants contribute to pro-angiogenic and pathogenic CCR6 + Th17 cells, therefore potential targets for therapeutic purposes.

The transcription factor p53 is overexpressed in the lung of patients with emphysema, but it remains unclear if it has a deleterious or protective effect in disease progression. We investigated the role of p53 in the elastase-induced emphysema model and the molecular underlining mechanisms. Wild-type (WT) and p53(-/-) mice were instilled with pancreatic porcine elastase. We quantified emphysema (morphometric analysis), chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2), and TNF-α in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) (ELISA), oxidative stress markers [heme oxygenase 1 (HO1), NAD(P)H dehydrogenase quinone 1 (NQO1), and quantitative RT-PCR], matrix metalloproteinase 12 (MMP12) expression, and macrophage apoptosis (cleaved caspase-3, immunofluorescence). p53 gene expression was up-regulated in the lung of elastase-instilled mice. p53 deletion aggravated elastase-induced emphysema severity, pulmonary inflammation (macrophage and neutrophil numbers and CCL2 and TNF-α levels in BAL), and lung oxidative stress. These findings, except for the increase in CCL2, were reproduced in WT mice transplanted with p53(-/-) bone marrow cells. The increased number of macrophages in p53(-/-) mice was not a consequence of reduced apoptosis or an excess of chemotaxis toward CCL2. Macrophage expression of MMP12 was higher in p53(-/-) mice compared with WT mice after elastase instillation. These findings provide evidence that p53(-/-) mice and WT mice grafted with p53(-/-) bone marrow cells are more prone to developing elastase-induced emphysema, supporting a protective role of p53, and more precisely p53 expressed in macrophages, against emphysema development. The pivotal role played by macrophages in this phenomenon may involve the MMP12-TNF-α pathway.
