This document summarizes the activity carried out to improve the reliability of the power measurement of the SPIDER RF Oscillators and to limit the circulation of RF stray currents in the ISEPS system through the ISEG output filter. The modification that will be described consists in the removal of the Capacitive Voltage Dividers connected at the secondary side of the RF Oscillator output transformers and the connection of the same dividers at the primary side of the transformer, together with the related modifications to the circuitry and control of the oscillators.

This document represents deliverable D1.5.6 of the Specific Contract F4E-OFC-531-02 - Neutral Beam Test Facility Diagnostics, Task Order No.2: SPIDER Diagnostics #2 and MITICA Diagnostics #1. The final design and specification, layout, list of components, installation and commissioning of the Beam Tomography diagnostic for SPIDER are reported.

The activities under the RF R&D task 5.8of the 2019 Work Programme were divided in two main branches.The first branch was addressed to the improvement and operation of the HVRFTF; the second branch aimed at improving the understanding of the power coupling between the RF driver coils and the plasma, see [1]. This report is relevant for the activities related to the HVRFTF.

This is a short summary of the activities carried out in the past on the subject of protecting the SPIDER Beam Sourcegrids, electrical bushings and related conductors (signals and connectors) from the overvoltage due to breakdown events between the grids. In addition, a description of the modifications currently being implemented at the level of the SPIDER electrical bushing with the purpose of protecting the signal bushings from the overvoltageis given, with additional simulations showing the effectiveness of the solution. Such modifications were required to operate reliably with the AGPS connected to the source and avoid damages to the insulation due to the breakdowns.

This document is intended as the Manufacturing Design required in Task Order #03 of F4E-OFC-280 Framework Contract for the part related to the Surveillance Camera System (OPTION #03) to be installed in the NBTF buildings.

In 2018 the activity under the RF R&D task 5.8 of the 2018 Work Programme was addressed to the characterization of the voltage hold off capability of different RF driver mockups on the High Voltage Radio Frequency Test Facility (HVRFTF). Particular effort was addressed to review the facility layout and to improve its high voltage RF circuit in terms of impedance matching, frequency tuning capability, RF power available and protection against fault in circuit components. Furthermore the set of diagnostic tools was improved with a plasma light sensor and a camera. Their respective signals and images, along with the gas pressure signal (already available as diagnostic since 2016) are sent to the data acquisition system.

This report describes the activities carried out within the subtask T5.7 of the Work Programme WP2019 at the High Voltage Padova Test Facility HVPTF and on the new High Voltage Short Gap Test Facility HVSGTF. The activities mainly consisted in: 1) Test of two electrodes with double-polarity configurations (Common Mode Voltage tests). 2) Test of electropolished electrodes 3) Tests with cathode covered by a thick alumina cap 4) Removal of dust deposited inside the vacuum vessel before starting the vacuum system: 5) Tests with specific shaped electrodes designed to understand the effect of the mutual exchange of charged particles between electrodes are still in progress 6) Tests of Non Evaporable Getter (NEG) pumps at high voltage in high vacuum are still in progress 7) Ordinary Maintenance of the vacuum pump system 8) Tests in HVSGTF to measure the Fowler-Nordheim emission current from stainless steel electrodes. The activities mentioned in points #5 and #6 are still in progress and will be completed next year. Concerning the other experiments, the main outcomes can be reported as follows: 1) CMV tests showed that the main microdischarge activity of the electrodes appears to be related to phenomena involving only a single power supply unit and the vacuum chamber, rather than the two electrodes under test 2) Test of electropolished electrodes, tests with cathode covered by a thick alumina cap and Removal of dust deposited inside the vacuum vessel did not indicate significant improvements of voltage holding 3) The measurement of the Fowler-Nordheim emission current from stainless steel electrodes showed a behaviour much more complex than expected and their analysis is in progress.

The MITICA Central Safety System (MITICA CSS) implements a set of important protection functions related to personnel health and safety, both during and outside the operation of the MITICA test bed, providing continuous monitoring of potentially dangerous events, automated protection actions, and logging of events and data relevant for safety of people. The Technical Specification for the call for tender of the supply of the MITICA CSS was drafted in 2017 (ref. RFX_MITICA_TS_041), but some important details were still to be defined, also depending on the status of the procurement of plant systems interfacing with MITICA CSS and according to the experience acquired with SPIDER CSS installation. This document is intended to be the report of the main activities related to MITICA safety carried out in 2019, in order to better define the aspects needed to pass from the MITICA CSS "Draft" to the "Detailed" Techinical Specification.

This document is the main document of deliverable D2.3 of the Specific Contract F4E - OFC - 531 - 01 - Neutral Beam Test Facility Diagnostics, Task Order No.1: SPIDER Diagnostics #1 . The final description of the implemented spectroscopy diagnostic for SPIDER is reported, in particular the layout , technical specification of procured components, description of integration and test results . The diagnostic compri ses three main subsystems: source and beam emission s pectroscopy, photodiodes. Laser absorption spectroscopy is separately reported.

This document is the test plan for the electrical tests to be carried out on the SPIDER Beam Source at the Site. Only electrical tests to be performed outside the vessel are described .

This document concerns the description of the CAesium Test Stand (CATS) and the testing activities on the SPIDER Cs ovens (prototype and series production). The setup of CATS and the thermal test on Cs oven prototype were carried out under WP2017 T5.9. During WP2018 CATS has been upgraded with implementation of new diagnostics and components, it has been commissioned for Cs operation and Cs flux tests on Cs oven prototype were carried out.

The activities carried out in 2017 under the RF R&D subtask (5.8) of the 2017 Work Programme were focused in particular on the commissioning, first operation and further development of the High Voltage Radio Frequency Test Facility (HVRFTF): a simple, accessible and flexible test bed to characterize the dielectric strength in vacuum of the RF drivers of SPIDER and MITICA ion sources and address the issues related to their voltage hold off when subjected to their operational radiofrequency E - fields and pressure.

The High Voltage RadioFrequency Test Facility (HVRFTF) has been developed with the aim to be a simple, accessible and flexible test facility to characterize the dielectric strength in vacuum of the RF drivers of SPIDER and MITICA ion source and effectively address the issues related to the ir voltage hold off when subjected to their operating radio frequency E - fields and pressure . This report presents the results of the test campaign s carried out in 2017 on stainless steel planar circular electrodes with Argon injection. Currently the HVRFTF is able to supply RF voltage of more than 10 kV, producing E - fields up to 55 MV/m for a gap of 0.2 mm. The experimental activity, besides the collection of data relevant for the main HVRFTF scope, allowed gaining experience and addressing specific issues related to the setu p and operation of the facility.

This report describes the high voltage tests carried out by Consorzio RFX (CRFX) personnel on the high voltage pipe break to be installed in the SPIDER H2/D2 line and for the MITICA HVD2. The activities reported in this document can be considered as the prosecution of those described in the technical note RFX_SPIDER_TN_401 where a series of pressure and electrical tests on a ceramic insulating break prototype are reported.

The report outlines the procedure for the execution of the insulation test of the SPIDER Transmission Line and the experimental results, including the high voltage conditioning in vacuum.

This document describes the design of the High Voltage Radio Frequency Test Facility (HVRFTF) to experimentally verify the insulation design of the ion source RF circuits adopted for SPIDER. Starting from the geometry and the operating condition of the ion source of SPIDER the requirements for HVRFTF are derived. Then the detailed description of the design of all the HVRFTF systems is reported. The design verifications are finally presented.

Inside the new laboratory for the development of the ITER neutral beam injector prototype PRIMA (Padova Research on Injector Megavolt Accelerated), whose construction was entrusted to the Consorzio RFX Padova, two experimental plants will be installed to study new systems for the production of neutral particles accelerated to high energy to heat the plasma, called MITICA (Megavolt ITER Injector & Concept Advancement) and SPIDER (Source for Production of Ion of Deuterium Extracted from Rf plasma). The ions for the plasma heating are produced inside SPIDER and MITICA negative ion sources by 8 Radio Frequency (RF) drivers, supplied by 4 independent and identical circuits, each composed of a RF oscillator working at 1 MHz, Coaxial cables with characteristic impedance, Matching network for load adaptation and two RF coils connected in series. To study the voltage holding capability of the RF drivers, a test bed called HVRFTF (High Voltage Radio Frequency Test Facility) has been installed at Consorzio RFX. The RF drivers working conditions in terms of voltage and pressure are reproduced for that purpose and to identify possible critical issues and improvements. This is practically made using a cylindrical vacuum chamber where two electrodes are installed: a proper pumping and gas injection system allow the achievement of the desired working pressure, while the high voltage is generated by means of a resonant circuit supplied with a RF low voltage power amplifier. The paper will describe the functional specifications, criteria, and setup of the plants designed for HVRFTF.

The NIO1 (Negative Ion Optimization, phase 1) experiment is a versatile test bench operated by Consorzio RFX and INFN in the framework of the activities aimed at the enhancement of negative ion sources for production of large ion beams for plasma heating in nuclear fusion devices and accelerator applications. The nominal beam current of 135mA at -60kV is divided into 9 beamlets, with multi-aperture extraction electrodes. The plasma is continuously sustained by a 2MHz radiofrequency power supply, with a standard matching box. A High Voltage Deck (HVD) is placed inside the lead shielding surrounding NIO1 and is fed by an insulation transformer installed in a nearby box. It contains the radiofrequency generator, the gas control, electronics and power supplies for the ion source. A closed-circuit water cooling system was installed for the whole system, with a branch towards the HVD. The present contribution gives a detailed description of the electrical plants and the fast protection systems for NIO1. High voltage and low voltage circuits are present in NIO1. The description of the former include the extraction and accelerator power supplies and the passive devices devoted to protecting the power supplies themselves against possible breakdowns in the accelerator. Low voltage circuits are dedicated to biasing the plasma grid and the bias plate as well as to producing a static magnetic field (magnetic filter field) and are protected against the effect of accelerator breakdowns. A specific system was developed to coordinate the fast switch-off of the power supplies and to trigger the main control unit in case a breakdown is detected in either high-voltage power supplies. Details on the fast protection circuitry and examples of its operation are presented. This work was performed with partial financial support by EUROfusion.

International audience; BACKGROUND: Altered Toll-like receptor (TLR) expression levels and/or mutations in its signaling pathway (such as MyD88 mutation) contribute to the pathogenesis of lymphoproliferative disorders (LPD). CD180 is an orphan member of the TLR family that modulates the signaling of several TLRs, but only limited studies have evaluated its expression by flow cytometry (FCM) in LPD. METHODS: Using a multiparameter FCM approach, we have assessed CD180 mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) in lymph nodes (LNs) and peripheral blood (PB) samples obtained from patients with follicular lymphoma (FL; LN/PB, n = 44/n = 15), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL, n = 26/n = 21), mantle cell lymphoma (MCL, n = 13/n = 17), and marginal zone lymphoma (MZL, n = 16/n = 12). Specimens from non-tumoral PB and LN (n = 8/n = 12) were used as controls. RESULTS: In the LN specimens, FL and control B-cells showed similar CD180 expression (MFI = 1,049 vs. 1,381, P \textgreater 0.05; Mann-Whitney U-test). This level was markedly lower in the other LPDs, MCL (MFI = 396, P \textless 0.05), or CLL (MFI = 502 P \textless 0.05), and similar to MZL (MFI = 858, P \textgreater 0.05). However, the CD180 expression of FL B-cells assessed in PB was dim and/or negative, in the same range as MCL and CLL (FL MFI = 453, MCL MFI = 305, CLL MFI = 420, P \textgreater 0.05) but lower than in MZL (MFI = 895, P \textless 0.05). Therefore, these results suggest a modulation of CD180 expression by neoplastic FL B-cells based on the anatomical compartment. CONCLUSION: These FCM data confirm the usefulness of CD180 in the accurate diagnosis of LPDs and emphasize the need to interpret this marker according to the origin of the sample. The present report, summarizes the work carried out in 2016 on the NIO1 experiment at Consorzio RFX in Padova, Italy. Experimental campaigns will be presented together with the modelling activities and the activities carried out on various plants.

The present contribution describes the control, interlock, acquisition and data retrieval systems for NIO1. Control and data acquisition system implementation require versatility and flexibility for an experiment such as NIO1; for example, new hardware components (e.g. Raspberry PI board, Arduino board, homemade hardware acquisition board) and different types of serial communication (RS232, GPIB, Ethernet) should be rapidly integrated in the communication network (Ethernet switches and electro-optical media-converters), while optical fibre uplinks are implemented to interconnect devices operating in the HVD. The software solution was to adopt Labview as the core of the control and of the acquisition systems (with the development of a synoptic panel) and MDSplus (including the most recent features, like support for long pulse discharge and MDSplus-Labview integration) for data archiving, distribution and visualization. A description is also given of the interlocks that are presently implemented to protect NIO1 against failures of the cooling system and to detect high voltage breakdown occurrences and over-temperatures. A Relational Data Base (based on PostgreSQL) is used to store time-averaged (summary) data for subsequent efficient data analysis in any programming language via standard connectors.

This report describes the high voltage tests carried out by RFX personnel on the high voltage pipe break of the SPIDER H2/D2 line. The pipe break is connected between the hydraulic high voltage bushing "R" and the gas distribution line at grounded potential.
