Orientador: Gabriel Ferreira Zacarias Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas Resumo: No decorrer do século XX, uma quantidade considerável de artistas negros começou a figurar com proeminência pela primeira vez no mundo da arte estadunidense. Graças aos avanços sociais do movimento pelos direitos civis e à ascensão do multiculturalismo, artistas afro-americanos nos fins dos anos 1980 e começo dos 1990 desfrutaram de um acesso sem precedentes a instituições estabelecidas de publicidade e exposição. A partir disso, percebe-se atualmente a crescente variedade de métodos de envolvimento com a cultura visual negra contemporânea que vem sendo praticada dentro e para além dos limites discursivos tradicionais da história da arte. Desse modo, a presente dissertação se baseia no estudo da produção artística de Glenn Ligon (1960), artista conceitual e afro-americano, que ajudou a moldar o campo da arte estadunidense ao longo das duas últimas décadas, através do uso de mídias variadas na criação artística que desviam radicalmente das convenções anteriores para a representação do negro. Assim, a pesquisa se concentra na análise e leitura comparativa de duas obras desse renomado artista: "Condition Report [Relatório de condição]", em sua versão de 2000, e a pintura "Sem título (I AM A MAN) [Eu sou um homem]", de 1988, a qual se refere. Esta é um dos primeiros trabalhos de Ligon a problematizar a linguagem, além de evocar a fotografia de Builder Levy que inspirou o artista inicialmente, com sua própria representação dramática dos cartazes erguidos pelos trabalhadores do setor de saneamento que estavam em greve em Memphis, em 28 de março de 1968. Dessa forma, são pontos de partida, a exploração de diálogos entre a produção deste artista, a sua ligação com a arte Post-Black, a apropriação da fotografia, da técnica (óleo e esmalte), o uso de arquivo e o procedimento técnico de conservação nesta obra ("Condition Report": documento que diagnostica o estado de conservação da obra) com base o estudo da Documentação Museológica, empreendendo assim a leitura do arquivo e sua desconstrução, na articulação de uma nova interpretação do passado. A pesquisa traça uma abordagem conceitual da noção de Post-Black, acompanhado de investigação das práticas curatoriais desenvolvidas no início do século XXI, no âmbito internacional, na análise das estratégias associadas à arte negra contemporânea. Essa dissertação explora a multiplicidade das narrativas de negritude nas diásporas, o potencial intrínseco da arte Post-Black , bem como as obras de arte que desafiam e enfatizam a mudança de significado da identidade negra e à crítica institucional para posicionar o negro como uma figura controversa – igualmente sujeito e objeto, propriedade e pessoa Abstract: In the course of the 20th century, numerous black artists came to feature prominently for the first time in the world of American art. Thanks to the social advances of the Civil Rights movement and the rise of multiculturalism, African-American artists in the late 1980s and early 1990s achieved unprecedented access to established institutions of publicization and exhibition. Since then, it is possible to notice the growing variety of methods through which contemporary black visual culture has been produced and developed within and beyond the traditional discursive limits of art history. The present dissertation is based on the study of the artistic production of Glenn Ligon (1960), conceptual and African-American artist, who helped to shape the field of American art over the last two decades, through the use of varied media in artistic creation, radically diverging from the previous conventions for the representation of blackness. The research focuses namely on the comparative analysis of two works by this renowned artist: "Condition Report", in its 2000 version, and the painting "Untitled (I AM A MAN) [I am a man] ", from 1988, to which it refers. Inspired by the photography of Builder Levy with its own dramatic representation of the posters held by sanitation workers on strike in Memphis on March 1968, this is one of Ligon's first works to problematize language. In order to understand this pair of artworks, we will explore Ligon’s relations to Post-Black art, as well as the specific techniques he utilizes (oil and enamel), or the use he makes of archives, comprising the appropriation of technical conservation procedures – notably in the work "Condition Report" where he recuperates the document that diagnoses the state of conservation of his previous work, "Untitled (I am a Man). Here, the artist deviates Museology from its traditional role, undertaking the reading of the archive and its deconstruction, in the articulation of a new interpretation of the past. The research traces a conceptual approach to the notion of Post-Black, accompanied by an investigation of curatorial practices developed at the beginning of the 21st century, at the international level, in the analysis of strategies associated with contemporary black art. Artworks are inseparable from the many instances and mediations to which they are subjected until they encounter the public. It therefore starts from the premise that artistic works reconfigure themselves continuously when in relation with their insertion into the artistic system, being the negotiation with the institution a constitutive part of the work itself. Several voices of Brazilian artists working in contemporary dance comprise the body of this thesis and are a key element for the analysis of the problem. We propose a tool entitled “contextual rider” – a document which, besides including technical requirements, encompasses aspects and parameters that ensure the work’s integrity and needs. Apart from being a guideline for the agreement with the institutions, the “contextual rider” is intended as a practice to build critical thinking in the dance field. Normal work, a performance created for this research and inextricably linked to its issues, allowed not only greater understanding of the relations between work, process and negotiations with institutions, but also the development of initial issues, including reflections that bind the artistic work with the artist's work. Esta pesquisa examina as negociações que estabelecem as condições de apresentação de trabalhos de dança contemporânea em instituições brasileiras que os incluem em suas programações. Os trabalhos artísticos são indissociáveis das muitas instâncias e mediações às quais estão sujeitos no percurso até o encontro com o público. Parte-se, portanto, da premissa que as obras se reconfiguram continuamente na relação com seus âmbitos de inserção no sistema artístico e que a negociação com as instituições é parte constitutiva da obra. Diversas vozes de artistas brasileiras atuantes no campo da dança contemporânea compõem o corpo desta tese e constituem parte fundamental da análise do problema. Propõe-se a ferramenta intitulada “rider contextual” - um documento que, além dos aspectos técnicos, destaca elementos e parâmetros para garantir a integridade e as necessidades do trabalho. O “rider contextual” pretende-se, além de um guia para os acordos com as instituições, uma prática para construção do pensamento crítico das artistas do campo da dança. Trabalho normal, performance criada para esta pesquisa e indissociavelmente ligada a suas questões, permitiu não só maior compreensão das relações entre obra, processo e negociações com as instituições, mas também a expansão das questões iniciais, incluindo reflexões que associam trabalho artístico e trabalho da artista.

The study approximates the inquisitor's "pre-choreographic" treatise Malleus Maleficarum (1484), written to teach how to identify and punish women accused of witchcraft, with the first choreographic tractates - Orchesographie (1589) and Choreographie (1700) - coined at the beginning of the European modernity. Making an anachronistic continental leap, we observe how, in contemporary times, the colonial legacy transmitted by the choreographic continues to give rise to normative and hegemonic orientations: heterocentric, racialized, solipsist and patriarchal. From the theoretical argumentation, the thesis presents and discusses counterchoreographic, pedagogical and choreographic artistic experimentations developed in the field of dance, that has the rising up force as a mobilizing motive of creation Este trabalho discute o modo como a coreografia constitui, em sua fundação, um dispositivo de legislação e ordenação de corpos, sociabilidade e sexualidade, produzindo condutas normatizantes que precarizaram historicamente e seguem, pela transmissão de um legado colonial, precarizando a vida das mulheres. O estudo aproxima o tratado inquisitor pré-coreográfico Malleus Maleficarum (1484), escrito para ensinar a identificar e a punir mulheres acusadas de bruxaria, com os primeiros tratados coreográficos Orchesographie (1589) e Choreographie (1700) - cunhados no início da Modernidade Europeia. Realizando um salto continental anacrônico, observa-se como, na contemporaneidade, o legado colonial transmitido pelo coreográfico segue agenciando orientações normatizantes e hegemônicas: heterocentradas, racializadas, solipsistas e patriarcais. This concept was caught by capitalism to protect shareholders under anonymity. Here, wee intend to recatch conversely through recognizing present anonymities into the world as sensible comunities to become. So, we recapitulate the concept of anonymity: 1) as a place of experimentation, through the passage of a Commom Body ( Corpo Comum ) to a Revolutionay Body; 2) retaking propositions and experimentations of art, education and cultural mediation that I done as proposer and member of colective works in schools, museums, festivals, exibitions, gardens, streets, conferences, workshops, talkings in Brasil since 2009; 3) in a book, a poetic recapitulation of the own thesis; 4) and in a notebook of images. In such way, I think it is also possible to show and exercise a promise of freedom inherent to a vital space in risk, through an ensemble of actions and exercises which amplifies the place of the own life. In this direction we follow a visual and aural perception as a Coletive Body to which an Individual Body links itself inexorably. Thus, observing, hearing and interacting, we can amplify places of sensible communities which experience, care and protect themselves Esta tese apresenta-se como um conjunto de recapitulações onde se revê, repensa e relembra o conceito de Sociedade Anônima. Este conceito foi tomado pelo capitalismo para proteger diversos investidores sob forma de anonimato e aqui se pretende retomá-lo, inversamente, através de reconhecimentos de anonimidade presentes no mundo em comunidades sensíveis a vir. Assim, recapitularemos o conceito de anonimidade: 1) como lugar de experimentação, através da passagem de um Corpo Comum a um Corpo Revolucionário; 2) através da retomada de proposições e experimentações da arte, educação e mediação cultural que realizei - enquanto propositora e participante de obras coletivas - em escolas, museus, festivais, exposições, jardins, ruas, conferências, oficinas, conversas, etc. no Brasil desde 2009; 3) num livro, uma recapitulação poética da própria tese; 4) em um caderno de imagens. Assim, penso ser possível também mostrar e exercitar uma promessa de liberdade inerente ao espaço vital, ameaçado e sempre em risco, através de um conjunto de ações e exercícios que ampliam o lugar da própria vida. It is a research that begins inside a studio in Rio de Janeiro and plants a garden in the dry backlands of Pernambuco. It dialogs with the production of other artists, besides expanding concepts such as humidity, landscape and device to other areas of knowledge, such as geography and philosophy. It raises the hypothesis that art establishes a symbiotic relation to nature, thus adding a new paradigm to already settled relations of representation, contemplation and or intervention in nature. This paradigm proposes the interaction between art and nature, which summons, beyond vision, the other senses of the body to inhabit this relation. It also proposes the perception of the body of nature, with its own speech, establishing it as a subject and not just as an object Um Jardim em Floresta articula arte e natureza sob a égide do elemento água e do conceito de jardim. É uma pesquisa que se inicia dentro de um ateliê de artista no Rio de Janeiro e planta um jardim no sertão de Pernambuco. This dissertation deals with the realization of the project Vaga-se, a set of artistic actions that consist in a hiring process, conducted by the artist, of unemployed individuals to non-work vacancies. Each hired person can not-work as he or she desires, for the duration that he or she may consider it faire in comparison to the offered value, being accompanied by the hirer, who then has, in a reversal of roles, to perform what the hired person desires. As consequences of this proposition, textual and spoken "registers" have been developed, including this dissertation, a "performance-no-performance", "non-work time cards", among others, which are based on the experiences carried out, but are also open to fictionalization and fable. The theoretical research, articulated with practice, proposes a critical analysis of the involvement of individuals with work in the contemporary world, as well as of the social and subjectivation policies engendered by neoliberalism that influence such involvements, and the artists’ relations with labor world in this conjuncture. It also deals with ways of perceiving time nowadays, reflecting on the ways of living and perceiving non-work and on the creation of the work of art articulated to a notion of work that gives way to desire and has symbolic value, allowing the reinvention of subjective positions, which include the relationship with the other. Finally, it seeks to develop the idea of a "self-writing" that occurs through artistic creation, dealing with the idea of "registration" of ephemeral actions and the implications of using text and word as conceptual and performative elements of artistic works O presente texto é uma adaptação do trabalho original desenvolvido pela autora às normas da biblioteca da UERJ, que não levam em conta a dimensão visual e material de sua escrita. Esta dissertação trata da realização do projeto Vaga-se, um conjunto de ações artísticas que consistem em um processo de contratação, pela artista, de indivíduos em situação de desemprego para vagas de não-trabalho. Cada contratado pode não-trabalhar da forma que desejar, durante o tempo que considerar justo em função do valor oferecido, sendo acompanhado pela contratante, que tem então, em uma inversão de papéis, que realizar o que o contratado deseja. Como desdobramentos dessa proposição, foram desenvolvidos “registros” textuais e falados, incluindo este texto dissertativo, como uma “performance-não-performance”, “cartões de ponto de não-trabalho”, entre outros, que partem das experiências das ações realizadas, mas dão abertura à ficcionalização e à fabulação. A investigação teórica, articulada à prática, propõe uma análise crítica do envolvimento dos indivíduos com o trabalho na contemporaneidade, bem como das políticas sociais e de subjetivação engendradas pelo neoliberalismo que influenciam tais envolvimentos e das relações do artista com o mundo do trabalho nessa conjuntura. Trata, ainda, das formas de se lidar com o tempo na contemporaneidade, refletindo sobre maneiras de se viver e perceber o não-trabalho e sobre a criação da obra de arte articulada a uma noção de trabalho que dá lugar ao desejo e possui valor simbólico, possibilitando a reinvenção de posições subjetivas, que incluem a relação com o outro. Finalmente, procura desenvolver a ideia de uma "escrita de si" que se dá por meio da criação artística, versando sobre a ideia de “registro”, a partir das ações efêmeras, e das implicações do uso do texto e da palavra como elementos performativos e conceituais no trabalho artístico

The first gesture, an essay toned text, deals with the limits of word and analogues questions, walking through references as fictional and theorical texts in philosophy, linguistic, art theory. Between the first and the second texts there is a gesture that is a space, where the relation between them would materialize. The second text has in view the subjectivation processes of the contemporaneity and seeks to elaborate a particular theoretical tooling, that aims the construction of an idea of health, in continuous affectation by the fields of art and thought. The fourth gesture is a reunion of artworks realized by the author, contaminated by the theoretical universe of the texts. The research attempt to understand the inseparability of the subjective and social transformation processes and their implications in the production of healthy subjects, in active contact with the surroundings and themselves O trabalho se estrutura em quatro partes, ou gestos , formando uma composição. O primeiro gesto, um texto de tom ensaístico, trata dos limites da palavra e questões análogas, caminhando por referências de textos ficcionais e teóricos de filosofia, linguística, teoria da arte. Entre o primeiro e o segundo texto há um gesto que é um espaço, onde a relação entre eles se materializaria. O segundo texto tem em vista os processos de subjetivação da contemporaneidade e busca elaborar um ferramental teórico particular, que vise a construção de uma ideia de saúde, em afetação contínua pelos campos da arte e do pensamento. The research focuses on authors and artists who work with geographical and historical interlinkages, creating poetics that happen precisely in the displacements between layers of space and layers of time. Thus, in creating conceptual nuclei that allow a deepening of the issues at stake, the thesis develops through segments that stress the relations between body, memory and landscape, mainly in audiovisual productions that slide between contemporary art, cinema and literature. In dialogue with thinkers like Georges Didi-Huberman, Jacques Rancière, Andreas Huyssen, Jeanne-Marie Gagnebin and Philippe Alain-Michaud, among others, and with artists such as James Benning, Cao Guimarães, Patricio Guzmán, Agnès Varda and Maya Deren, among others, the project presents analysis of the works of artists and thinkers and reflections on the creative process of the author. In this way, it investigates both the potentials that arise from the combinations between the concepts, such as body-landscape, landscape-memory and memory-body, as well as their possible re-readings such as landscape-landscape, memory-memory and body-body Poéticas do Deslocamento: Corpo, Memória, Paisagem é um projeto artístico e intelectual que propõe uma investigação da arte e da cultura contemporânea através de uma dialética entre espaço e tempo. A pesquisa tem foco em autores e artistas que trabalham com entrecruzamentos geográficos e históricos, criando poéticas que se dão justamente nos deslocamentos entre camadas de espaço e camadas de tempo. Assim, ao criar núcleos conceituais que permitem um aprofundamento das questões em jogo, a tese se desenvolve através de segmentos que tensionam as relações entre corpo, memória e paisagem, principalmente em produções audiovisuais que deslizam entre a arte contemporânea, o cinema e a literatura. While taken by psychoanalysis as a strong means of sovereignty and self-control, the arse has its forces constantly sublimated and its usage rather privatized. This thesis researches manners to free and to desublimate the arse in cases of its public use and social production. Two operations are at issue: one which is physical and direct, and another of the performative-discursive matter. These operations set myriads of relations. The main one being the butthole as an organ whose force is to diagram resistance, and the viability of which lays on its merging to pleasure. The propositions have philosophic-theoretical features and emerge from case studies in dance, music, visual arts, performance and video. Authors such as Paul B. Preciado, Georges Bataille, Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, Michel Foucault, José Muñoz, Peggy Phelan, Brian Massumi, André Lepecki and Fred Moten, compose the basis of the thoughts developed. Ruminações is, thus, structured in four axes. First, I research the relationship in between the extremities of the Gastric tube and its associative production of animality. In that matter, experiences that abdicates from erect positions and which invest on collective anal practices are also observed. A second axis endeavors into the corporealsemantic potencies of the butthole and how it reconfigures a field for gender struggles to take place. Then, another corporeal series is built, however, at this time relating the butthole, the eye and the skin in order to address properties of darkness. Finally, I rely on the double materiality of eschatology when anus related, which I define as waste and magic. Therefore, I approach the anarchitecture of the rubbish, and I ramble on the immanence of magic and its multi-naturalist cosmology Esta tese se aproxima do corpo criando relações e séries de órgãos nas quais a potência anal é um imperativo. Tomado pela psicanálise como um forte instrumento de soberania e autocontrole, o cu tem suas forças constantemente sublimadas e seu uso privatizado. Esta tese pesquisa casos de liberação e dessublimação anal por seu uso público e sua produção social. Duas operações estão em jogo: uma física e direta, outra performativa, discursiva. Essas operações entram numa miríade de relações entre si. A principal é a de que o cu é um órgão cuja força é a de diagramar resistência e viabilizá-la justo por conjugá-la ao prazer. As proposições têm caráter teórico-filosófico e surgem de análises de trabalhos de dança, música, artes visuais, performance e vídeo. Teóricos como Paul B. Preciado, Georges Bataille, Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari, Michel Foucault, José Muñoz, Peggy Phelan, Brian Massumi, André Lepeki e Fred Moten compõem também a base dos pensamentos. Ruminações se estrutura em quatro eixos. No primeiro investigo a relação entre as extremidades do tubo gástrico e sua produção de associações à animalidade. Experiências nesse sentido são também desenvolvidas ao se abdicar da eretilidade e investir em práticas coletivas do uso anal. No segundo eixo pesquiso a potência copóreo-semântica do cu em sua capacidade de reconfigurar os campos de luta de gênero. Em seguida o cu constrói sua série corporal relacionando-se à pele e ao olho, reconduzindo propriedades da escuridão. Por fim, me aproprio da dupla materialidade da escatologia e sua relação anal, as quais defino como o resto e a magia. Facing discomfort before the voracious process of privatization of contemporary culture and the strengthening of the hetero-patriarchal-white structure, we will analyze the privatization of culture, and of the land and the bodies from feminist, decolonial and unpatriarchal theories and practices. We will dismantle historic fictions that created the universal woman category with necessary and urgent detours from which it has been possible to sustain the idea of a creative process in tune with the subjectivity that resists in the locus of the colonial difference. Between denser blocks of text, we propose an aural writing made live on social networks on the internet during the process of elaboration of the present research. They are starts and restarts of this thesis-album that will lead us to a fictional narrative composed from a collective process of writing. We will describe aesthetic, political and ethical practices already in course in the field of performance as much as we will launch ourselves into the challenge of imagining different possible futures Nesta disco-tese, partimos da invenção da Lady Incentivo, personagem e agente inicial de minhas incursões na intersecção corpo-megafone-cidade. Diante do incômodo frente ao processo voraz de privatização da cultura contemporânea e de reforço da estrutura hetero-patriarcal-branca, analisaremos a privatização da cultura, das terras e dos corpos a partir de teorias e práticas feministas descoloniais e despatriarcais. Desmontaremos ficções históricas que criaram a categoria mulher universal com desvios necessários e urgentes a partir dos quais tem sido possível sustentar a ideia de um processo criativo em sintonia com a subjetividade que resiste no lócus fraturado da diferença colonial. Entre os blocos mais densos de texto propomos uma escrita sonora feita ao vivo em redes sociais da internet durante o processo da pesquisa. Through analysis of exhibitions and the curatorial studies, some parallel axis of discussion will follow on this work: from the formation of an exhibitionary culture as a technique of visibility and paradigm for showing art; thoughts on the installation in space as inherent to artistic practice; to the propositive actions of curators as independent iniciatives or with their respective institutions. All this points out a complexity that unfolds in the different levels of the art system. Voices of curators, artists and critics regarding their possible roles will be taken up in order to draw a network of agents and functions. Exhibition situations will be taken as examples of social spaces where art can happen, as historical and modern art collectios, periodic and international exhibitions, or museums in global expansion. To think through these two variants the exhibition and the curator is what this research will further develop Entendendo o espaço expositivo como o meio central de apresentação e circulação da arte hoje, esta pesquisa dedica-se aos papéis do curador e seus perfis híbridos, tendo em vista uma significativa transformação nas dinâmica do sistema de arte ao século XX e seus modos de produção, especialmente após a segunda metade deste período. A partir do campo de análises sobre exposições e estudos curatoriais, há eixos paralelos de discussão que procuramos abordar neste trabalho: desde a formação da cultura expositiva como meio, ferramenta de visibilidade e paradigma para a apresentação da arte; as preocupações quanto à ocupação instalativa do espaço como parte inerente ao trabalho artístico; até as ações propositivas de curadores seja em atuação independente seja em relação à instituição que representam. Aponta-se para uma complexidade do sistema de arte que se desdobra em diversos níveis, desde as relação entre o gênero expositivo como veículo das estruturas do pensamento moderno até a hibridização de papéis no campo da arte. Vozes de curadores, artistas e críticos serão convocadas para discorrer sobre seus possíveis papéis, a fim de construir relações entre esta teia de agentes e funções. The artistic propositions engendered here are understood as thought in composition with written annotations. The listening of listening is a thought that wants to talk of the relations that occur from one to the other, poorly mediated, or mediated only through bodies. This work believes in the power of the word and image annotated as ways of saying of this minimal mediation of the experience through which the body lives. The listening of listening is a gesture that aims to be made, to be practiced, in places where there are too many words, in places where still there are no words, and in places where new words will appear. The listening is understood as an opening movement that circulates and returns, goes to the political world (searching for what belongs to the common order) and returns to the intimate, then goes back again to the common, and so on. Approximating two shells, inventing a manner of picking a book that does not exist anymore from a library fire, observing roadkill, observing the affective tail of the domesticated dog, reading a story that strikes the eye in the newspaper, all of that without producing almost nothing, but sustaining a place that wants to make things move, to remove them from the past and to move them around the present of annotation. The authors (Roland Barthes, João Barrento, Jean-Luc Nancy, Jacques Lacan, Kazuo Ohno, Manoel Ricardo de Lima) and the artists (Nuno Ramos, Leila Danziger, Marcel Duchamp, Allan Kaprow) with whom this work dialogues, their notions and concepts, operate more as poetic intercessors than theorists, therefore, they are linked by their details. Finally, the listening of listening, as ethics, as a way of life facing (and with) the world that, each day, presents its barbarism, will always be an exercise in which there is no place to be reached: the practice of listening is the very place that is always to be concluded, demanding the body in a purposeless activity. This research rehearses sustaining this uncertain and unknown place while feeding its own experience, remaking its daily bets. As proposições artísticas aqui engendradas são compreendidas como pensamento em composição com as anotações escritas. A escuta da escuta é um pensamento que quer falar das relações que se dão de um para o outro, pouco mediadas ou mediadas apenas pelos corpos. Este trabalho acredita na potência da palavra e da imagem anotadas enquanto formas de dizer dessa mediação mínima da experiência pela qual o corpo vive. A escuta da escuta é gesto que busca se realizar, ser praticado, nos lugares onde há palavras em demasia, nos lugares onde ainda não há palavras e nos lugares onde palavras novas surgirão. As a non-linear montage, the artistic research crosses disciplinary fields like archaeology, geology, chemistry, biology, history, philosophy, anthropology, sociology, and enters the realms of politics from an investigation on the fossil matter, made by the carbon element. The enquiry proposes dialogues with the thought of authors like Bruno Latour, Donna Haraway, Michel Serres, Timothy Mitchell, Lucy Lippard, Déborah Danowski and Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, as well as with the work of artists like Robert Smithson, Ana Mendieta, J. M. W. Turner, Giuseppe Penone, among others. The author's art works and artistic writings are part of the content and materialize thoughts about the scale colapse between the human and the planet, body and Earth, and the bounded relationship between natural and artificial, nature and art. Between images, words and matters, the thesis explores art as proponent of figurations for the present and the future, specially in the new thermodynamic order of the Earth. Do Fóssil ao Húmus, uma análise interdisciplinar, artístico-teórica, sobre o petróleo, seus usos e sua presença na sociedade, assim como sobre as transformações motivadas pela emergência das mudanças climáticas e pela reflexão acerca do humano enquanto força geológica no planeta. Ao modo de uma montagem não-linear, a pesquisa artística atravessa campos como arqueologia, geologia, química, biologia, história, filosofia, antropologia, sociologia, e adentra a esfera da política a partir de uma investigação da matéria fóssil, formada pelo elemento carbono, e em diálogo com o pensamento de autores como Bruno Latour, Donna Haraway, Michel Serres, Timothy Mitchell, Lucy Lippard, Déborah Danowski e Eduardo Viveiros de Castro, assim como com a obra de artistas como Robert Smithson, Ana Mendieta, J. In the last two decades a proliferation of archival practices has occurred in response to the logistics of art practices in the global market, according to which everything that is not documented, objectified and placed in a glass case does not exist. The furor generated by this reached the performing arts, generating a broad debate on the possibilities and limits of these live practices in a gallery/museum context and inspired a rethinking of modes of historiography the filed. Transarchival is a means of writing, which takes as its starting point the following questions: What is an archive? Why do we archive? How do we approach these documents? What remains beyond the material object itself? What inventorial strategies would make sense in the medium of body-poetics? Esta pesquisa surge de uma série de cruzamentos entre as artes performativas, as relações de poder na historiografia da arte e as políticas da memória. Nas duas últimas décadas, assistimos a uma proliferação de arquivos que respondem à lógica do mercado da arte, na qual tudo aquilo que não é documentado, objetivado e colocado em uma vitrine, não existe. Este furor também atingiu o âmbito das artes performativas, gerando um extenso debate sobre as possibilidades e os limites na exibição destas práticas em contextos museológicos e o modo de realizar um exercício histórico com a própria linguagem das artes cênicas. Transarquivo é um dispositivo de escrita que toma como ponto de partida algumas questões como: o que é um arquivo? Para que arquivar? De que modo é possível nos aproximarmos dos documentos? O que resta além do objeto material? Que estratégias de inventário seriam coerentes com as poéticas corporais?

Seus elementos, formas e temas derivam de apropriações de textos, propondo intervenções em sua estrutura, provocando deslocamentos, alterando as sintaxes e produzindo outros sentidos. Nesta produção as figuras do artista e do professor se problematizam e se misturam fundindo-se em possiblidades de experimentar lugares intermediários. A pesquisa se apresenta de forma precária, seus objetos, imagens e falas são fragmentos, restos que compõem uma aparente indefinição. Diferentes processos produzem diferentes restos que indicam relações provisórias dos discursos que instituem arte, educação, professor, artista., nas conexões destes intervalos. Não há um fim especifico, com uma força canalizada para produzir um único objeto. O trabalho propõe persistência na multiplicação de restos e intervalos corno pesquisa e leitura, apontando para a necessidade de continuar exercitando a complexidade da produções de sentido, mantendo sua precariedade característica em movimento. This thesis deals with art as formative education as education is constituted as production process into art. Its elements, forms and themes derived from appropriations of texts, proposing interventions in its structure, causing displacement by changing the syntax and producing other senses. In this production the artist and teacher figures problematize and mingle melting into possibilities to experience intermediate places. The research appears precariously, its objects, images and words are fragments, remnants that make up an apparent blurring. Different methods produce different remains that indicate provisional relations speeches establishing art, education, teacher, artist., The connections of these intervals. There is no specific order, with a piped force to produce a single object. The paper proposes persistence in the multiplication of debris and intervals as research and reading, pointing to the need to continue exercising the complexity of meaning productions, maintaining its characteristic precariousness moving.

The affective turn is approached in relation to the non-human theory to get closer to a flat ontology between human and nonhuman, assuming the importance of the networks created by both actants in building a social plan based on affection the idea of affect and be affected as a manifestation of contemporary and sensitive activism. This investigation is made through six transdisciplinary tangents, in an attempt to establish points of contact between the practice of drawing and other contemporary investigative practices of human knowledge. These tangents are: Tangent Diagrams, Tangent Cosmology, Tangent Drawings, Tangent Linguistics, Tangent Logic/Mathemathics and Tangent Scripture. The research also seeks to establish a closer relationship between theory and work of art presenting itself as text and as a Binder, in which the lexicon of concept-drawings are brought together with a series of annotations that were made throughout the research. Both concept-drawings and annotations are key points for the formation of the conceptual architecture of the lexicon. Together with the text, these annotations and drawings intend to question the relationship between the space-time relation with the body of he who performs actions. The research concludes with concept of performativity in the works "Desire to communicate" and "Obscena", openning new practical procedures within my process as an artist Nesta Dissertação, investigo o conjunto de desenhos que denominei desenhos-conceitos e que constituem-se como uma prática processual da minha atuação enquanto artista. Tal investigação é percorrida através de seis tangentes transdisciplinares na tentativa de estabelecer pontos de contato entre a prática do Desenho e outras práticas contemporâneas investigativas do conhecimento humano. São elas: Tangente Diagramas, Tangente Cosmologia, Tangente Desenhos, Tangente Linguística, Tangente Lógica/Matemática e Tangente Escritura. A pesquisa procura estabelecer uma maior proximidade entre teoria e obra apresentando-se como texto dissertivo e também como a elaboração de um Fichário. Neste Fichário o léxico dos desenhos-conceitos é apresentado em conjunto com uma série de anotações que permearam a investigação e ambos, desenhos-conceitos e anotações, configuram-se como pontos-chave para a formação da arquitetura conceitual do léxico. Tanto o texto dissertivo quanto as anotações e desenhos presentes no Fichário tecem indagações acerca da relação entre o espaço-tempo e o corpo daquele que performa ações. A pesquisa conclui na abertura de novos procedimentos práticos, através da ideia de performatividade na realização de ações, com as obras Desire to communicate e Obscena .

Our aim is to bring together different artistic practices that reflect this position towards the precepts of Art Institution and investigate the possible tensions and upheavals generated therefrom. The first part will deal with the concept of Institutional Critique as understood by Andrea Fraser, one of the main theorists on the subject, analyzing some texts from authors such as Benjamin Buchloh to help us better understand the practices of artists who have resisted or even pressured the institution. In an attempt to broaden the concept and see new possibilities for theoretical application, we continue through the chapter on Foucault and Deleuze on the possibility of acting "outside" of the institution. Then, we try to relate the concept of Institutional Critique to postcolonial theories, analyzing especially the writings of Walter Mignolo and Antonio Negri. Based on this theory, our research will investigate practices of resistance by means of works and artistic actions. We are interested in examining how the artist made this visually critical to his own art system. Thus, in the second part we examine the practices of artists like Flavio de Carvalho, Nelson Leirner, Cildo Meireles and Paulo Bruscky in the Brazilian context A pesquisa refere-se à necessidade de se pensar a arte como mecanismo de resistência à crescente institucionalização do campo artístico que se intensificou a partir do século XIX, no Ocidente. Nosso intuito é reunir diferentes práticas artísticas que refletem esta tomada de posição contra os preceitos da Instituição Arte e investigar as possíveis tensões e abalos daí gerados. Na primeira parte, trataremos do conceito de Crítica Institucional tal como pensada por Andrea Fraser, uma das principais teóricas do termo, analisando alguns textos de autores como Benjamin Buchloh que nos ajudem a melhor compreender as práticas de artistas que exerceram algum tipo de resistência ou tensão no âmbito institucional da arte. Na tentativa de alargar o conceito e enxergar novas possibilidades de aplicação teórica, continuamos o capítulo através do pensamento de Foucault e Deleuze acerca da possibilidade de atuação fora da instituição. Em seguida, buscaremos relacionar o conceito de Crítica Institucional com as teorias pós-coloniais, analisando, sobretudo, o pensamento de Walter Mignolo e Antonio Negri. Réflexion qui ne s épuise dans ce travail mais, au contraire, ouvre de nouvelles brèches pour des images et des mots à venir. Le fil conducteur de ma production photographique reflète une forme spécifique de penser la photographie au-delà de l image, élevant l idée d instant à la puissance de moment photographique. L expectation est envisagée ici comme une interaction où surgit une nouvelle relation photographe-photographié. L intérêt pour les regards qui traversent la caméra, au-delà de ceux qui, plus tard, se poseront sur la superficie de l image, oriente cette recherche vers la philosophie de George Didi-Huberman, qui propose un dialogue incessant entre le visible et l invisible dans l image et met en lumière le jeu entre la proximité et la distance dans le regard. Comment la photographie parcourt les distances, transformant ce cheminement en une rencontre? La photographie est envisagée à la fois comme un lien et un objet. Différentes matérialités de l image définissent différentes temporalités. Le temps de l acte photographique s élargit ou se contracte en fonction de ses moyens de production. Mauricio Lissovsky indique l expectation comme un facteur déterminant des images photographiques. Suely Rolnik, dans ses directions cartographiques sentimentales, dirige cette trame fluide qui se compose également de liens affectifs. Miwon Kwon, en se penchant sur la sensation d instabilité et de non-appartenance, suggère de nouveaux rapports avec le lieu étranger. Hal Foster considère l insertion de l art dans la vie sociale comme une dimension intrinsèque de la pratique artistique contemporaine. Je place ma recherche dans ce contexte. Certaines uvres de Nan Goldin, Sophie Calle, Rosângela Rennó et Alexandre Siqueira, entre autres artistes et chercheurs, sont mis en avant pour composer et perpétuer le jeu délicat des regards, des distances et des rencontres A pesquisa desenvolvida parte de um diálogo entre a minha produção artística e uma reflexão teórica sobre fotografia. Reflexão que não se esgota neste trabalho, mas, ao contrário, abre novas brechas para imagens e palavras que virão. O fio condutor da minha produção fotográfica reflete uma forma específica de pensar a fotografia para além da imagem, que eleva a ideia de instante a uma potência de momento fotográfico. A expectação é pensada aqui como uma interação onde surge uma nova relação entre fotógrafo-fotografado. O interesse pelos olhares que atravessam a câmera, além daqueles que, mais tarde, pousarão na superfície da imagem, aproxima esta pesquisa da filosofia de Georges Didi-Huberman, que propõe um diálogo incessante entre o visível e o invisível na imagem e descortina o jogo entre o perto e o distante no olhar. Como a fotografia percorre as distâncias fazendo desse caminho também um encontro? A fotografia é tomada como um elo e também como objeto. Diferentes materialidades da imagem definem diferentes temporalidades. O tempo que ronda o ato fotográfico se alarga e se estreita em função de seus meios de produção. Mauricio Lissovsky aponta a expectação como fator determinante das imagens fotográficas. The works Sumi, Infiltration and Carbon use the photography, the video, the installation, the drawing and the sculpture as medium of production. Dance is thought over as contemporary art, asking itself on its condition, on what constructs and defines it. Relationships between contemporary dance and conceptualism are sketched by observing works that, having cast aside formalism and the sheer exercise of aesthetics, propose to add something in terms of art conception and inquire on their own nature. Main issues addressed here include rethinking dance s very conventions, models of show or presentations, spaces, and forms of visibility; they are discussed against the background of works by Tino Sehgal (born in Britain, 1976), Wagner Schwartz (born in Brazil, 1972) and the author s own production, pleading for a conceptual condition of their works in contemporary dance. The destabilization and fissures generated by such condition are taken as tools to strengthen and amplify the vision of dance as contemporary art Esta dissertação focaliza o diálogo entre dança contemporânea e artes visuais a partir dos anos 1990 e as novas configurações e discussões presentes nos trabalhos de criadores que transitam entre esses dois campos. As relações entre dança contemporânea e o conceitualismo são traçadas observando obras que, abandonando o formalismo e o puro exercício da estética, propõem-se a acrescentar algo em termos de concepção da arte e questionar sua própria natureza. Repensar as convenções da própria dança, o modelo de espetáculo, os espaços e formas de visibilidade são as principais questões investigadas. Especificamente, são abordados os trabalhos de Tino Sehgal (Londres, 1976- ), Wagner Schwartz (Volta Redonda, 1972- ) e a própria produção artística da autora para pensar essas relações, reivindicando uma condição conceitual da dança contemporânea nas obras próprias e nas dos artistas estudados. As desestabiliza-ções e fissuras que essa condição provoca são as ferramentas para potencializar e ampliar a visão da dança como arte contemporânea

The articulation occurs according to a transdisciplinary perspective, and in relation to some especially meaningful artistic and textual works. The construction of the sensory and the subjectivities and its possibilities of transformation and empowerment, through an art linked to life, are the central issues. The concepts of fable, lines, cartography and deterritorializations developed by Deleuze, the ecosophy of Félix Guattari and Suely Rolnik s notion of vibrating bodies are fundamental, just like Lygia Clark and Helio Oiticica s observations about their own experiences. Historical and cultural studies of the senses, such as the ones by Constance Classen and David Howes, and the observations of distinct theorists like Karl Marx, Walter Benjamin, Michel Serres and Jacques Rancière help to give an initial overview of the sensory construct in the modern and contemporary West. Questions regarding sound, silence and noise led to the use of concepts such as listening and resonance in an extended sense, not restricted to sounding or physical phenomena. The relationship between listening, intersensoriality, imagination and memory contributed to the initial development of the concept of third sound present here. The perception of the text as an activator of feelings and reveries, the connections between concept and concrete and the non-realistic account of events led to the experienced fictions. The act of drift is related to the "derangement of all senses" and implies the experience of margins, deviations and extremes, dissolving boundaries, diasporas in the interstices. Poetics and politics of otherness, of difference and strangeness are present on the experiences of a living environment, a landscape-body-other. Such questions go through my work that are performed in different ways, in cartographies that may include sound, text, drawings, objects, photographs, videos, clothing, actions, situations, etc. The approach to these issues happens through a few passages by writers like Rimbaud, Borges and Italo Calvino; theorists from different fields, like Guy Brett, Douglas Kahn, De Certeau, Michel Onfray, James J. Gibson and Donna Haraway; and works and texts from various key artists like Marcel Duchamp, John Cage, Allan Kaprow, George Maciunas and Fluxus, Yoko Ono, Laurie Anderson, Gordon Matta-Clark, Robert Smithson, Bill Viola, Cildo Meireles and Lygia Pape, among others A pesquisa surgiu a partir de investigações e experiências próprias com a escuta, a produção de sonoridades, a criação de ambientes e a realização de derivas intersensoriais. A articulação se dá segundo uma perspectiva transdisciplinar e em relação a alguns trabalhos artísticos e textuais especialmente significativos. A construção do sensorial e das subjetividades e suas possibilidades de transformação e emancipação, através de uma arte vinculada à vida, são questões centrais. Os conceitos de fabulação, linhas, cartografias e desterritorializações desenvolvidos por Deleuze, a ecosofia de Félix Guattari e a noção de corpos vibráteis em Suely Rolnik são fundamentais, assim como as observações de Lygia Clark e Hélio Oiticica a respeito de suas próprias experiências. Estudos históricos e culturais dos sentidos, como os de Constance Classen e David Howes, além de observações de teóricos distintos como Karl Marx, Walter Benjamin, Michel Serres e Jacques Ranciére auxiliam a traçar um panorama inicial do constructo sensorial no Ocidente moderno e contemporâneo. Questões relativas a som, silêncio e ruído levaram à utilização de conceitos como escuta e ressonância em um sentido ampliado, que não se restringe a fenômenos sonoros ou físicos. A articulação entre escuta, intersensorialidade, imaginação e memória contribuiu para o desenvolvimento inicial do conceito de terceiro som aqui presente. A percepção do texto como ativador de sensações e devaneios, as relações entre conceito e concreto e o relato não-realista de acontecimentos levaram às ficções experimentadas. O ato da deriva relaciona-se ao desregramento de todos sentidos e implica a vivência de margens, desvios e extremos, fronteiras em dissolução, diásporas nos interstícios. Poéticas e políticas da alteridade, da diferença e do estranhamento fazem-se presentes em experiências de um ambiente-vivo, paisagem-corpo-outro. Tais questões atravessam meus trabalhos, que são realizados de diferentes maneiras, em cartografias e rituais que podem incluir sons, textos, desenhos, objetos, fotografia, vídeos, vestimentas, ações, situações, etc. A abordagem das questões presentes se dá através de algumas passagens por escritores como Rimbaud, Borges e Italo Calvino; teóricos de diferentes áreas, como Guy Brett, Douglas Kahn, De Certeau, Michel Onfray, James J.Gibson e Donna Haraway; e trabalhos e textos de diversos artistas fundamentais, como Marcel Duchamp, John Cage, Allan Kaprow, George Maciunas e o Fluxus, Yoko Ono, Laurie Anderson, Gordon-Matta-Clark, Robert Smithson, Bill Viola, Cildo Meireles e Lygia Pape, entre outros

This research surrounds the relations between art and society in a micro and macropolitic sphere, thinking in terms of sociological concepts that works with the symbolic dimension of art facing the economics and politics relations in which Hans Haacke s work dialogs with. Assuming the construction of symbolic social aspects the dissertation is either intended to explore the affective diretionement in the moment of the reading Hans Haacke s work as well as the redirectionement of a social and artistic critic position, on which is one of the tools used by the artist as conceptual discurce into his own work, the focus points to deal with the subjetiv colletive constructions. In this way the dissertation point to an investigation of new dialog places whereon art is submerged, a place in constant construction and negociation of its boundaries among anothers knowledge areas A presente dissertação tem como objetivo pautar as possibilidades de leitura da obra do artista alemão Hans Haacke apresentando 6 obras bases de análise. A pesquisa cerca as relações entre arte e sociedade em uma esfera tanto micro quanto macropolítica contando com conceitos sociológicos que pautam a dimensão simbólica da arte frente às relações econômicas e políticas com as quais a obra de Haacke dialoga. A partir da construção de aspectos sociais simbólicos a dissertação visa também explorar o direcionamento afetivo tanto na leitura do trabalho de Haacke quanto no redirecionamento da posição crítica social e artística com que o artista joga enquanto aspecto conceitual de sua própria obra, focando pontos que lidam com a construção coletiva de subjetividades. A dissertação assim aponta para uma investigação de novos lugares de diálogo da própria arte submerssa em uma constante construção e negociação de seu espaço em meio a outras áreas de conhecimento

This work proposes the attempt - and the failure - such as the movement of making art. Believing in the everyday experience with the scriptural force in its performative character, invests in the possibility of activating the latent drawing in the world. By investigating the word as an attempt at ordering and as a condition of possibility of contemporary art, discusses (and, simultaneously, practices) the risk, the accident introduced by his destabilizing poetic character, to look into the not stable aspect of the practical-theoretical relations between the text and plastic matter, between images and words. The dissertation intent to, (in tension of) experience, reflect on the inexhaustible energy expended in the intimacy with the material-thoughts, with the word that is flesh. The horizon of the research is the impossibility - within the artist s text who formulates about his own work - to puts in motion towards an end other than the path. A pesquisa é um dos desdobramentos possíveis da ação do desenho como exigência do próprio corpo. O trabalho propõe a tentativa e o fracasso como movimentação do fazer artístico. Por acreditar na experiência cotidiana com a força escritural, em seu caráter performático, investe na possibilidade de ativar o desenho latente no mundo. Ao investigar a palavra como tentativa de ordenação e como uma condição de possibilidade da arte contemporânea, discute-se (e, simultaneamente, pratica-se) o risco, o acidente introduzido pelo poético em seu caráter desestabilizador,a fim de debruçar-se sobre o aspecto não estável das relações prático-teóricas, entre o texto e a matéria plástica, entre imagens e palavras. A dissertação busca, (na tensão da) experiência, a reflexão inesgotável diante da energia gasta na convivência com a matéria-pensamento , com a palavra que é carne. O horizonte da pesquisa é a impossibilidade - dentro do texto do artista que tangencia seu próprio trabalho de colocar-se em movimento em direção a um fim que não seja o caminho.
