T-FORS project aims at providing new models able to interpret a broad range of observations of the solar corona, the interplanetary medium, the magnetosphere, the ionosphere and the atmosphere, and to issue forecasts and warnings for TIDs several hours ahead. T-FORS expect to develop prototype services based on specifications from the users' community with a comprehensive architectural concept allowing for possible future adjustments in order to develop a real-time operational service. This document is a report for the definition of the MSTID forecasting models.

On February 6, around 01:17 UTC, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck south-central Turkey near the Turkey/Syria border. Several aftershocks were registered in the following days, with the largest being a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck about 90 km north on the same day around 10:24 UTC.This paper presents the ionospheric effects detected by ionosonde and GNSS networks covering the Mediterranean area and Europe, with the goal of trying to discriminate the different sources of perturbations affecting the ionosphere and to characterize the different ionospheric wave-like perturbations induced by the earthquake. Specifically, earthquakes are responsible for different kinds of atmospheric perturbations, depending on the distance from the epicentre. In the near-field, acoustic-gravity waves are generated directly on-site by the strike-slip East Anatolian fault's movement. In the far field, upward propagating acoustic waves induced by surface Rayleigh Waves dominate the ionospheric response. Thanks to the multi-instrument approach, both mechanisms can be distinguished. In particular, thanks to the measurements nature, ionosondes are highly sensitive to acoustic waves, defined by small wavelengths and periods. On the other hand, GNSS-derived Total Electron Content is more suited for detecting waves defined by larger periods and longer wavelengths, such as the ones generated directly by the fault movement. The first results show a clear pattern of the ionospheric disturbances on the ionograms recorded at different distances from the epicentre propagating at a few km/s compatible with the hypothesis of Rayleigh waves related perturbations., The 28th IUGG General Assembly (IUGG2023) (Berlin 2023)

Background: Companies are assuming a vital role in shaping the future for the coming generations through the development of sustainable innovations. Previous studies have stressed the importance of leadership as fundamental in the innovation process and when creating more sustainable businesses. Leaders behaving responsibly are assumed to have a positive impact on the outcome of the innovation process, as the employees are likely to apply the same behaviour. Even so, exactly how leaders behave to combine innovation and sustainability has not yet been theorised, hence, the integration of leadership, sustainability, and innovation is inadequate in the realm of literature. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore how leaders behave when fostering an innovation process that leads to sustainable products, services, and/or technologies. Method: The research uses a qualitative method with an inductive approach conducted through semi- structured interviews at three Swedish business-to-business (B2B) multinational enterprises (MNEs) with three leaders working with sustainability, three innovation managers, and one environment manager. Conclusion: The findings suggest three important behavioural dimensions of leaders when promoting an innovation process that leads to sustainable outcomes. In the analysis section, these dimensions are synchronised into a framework; the first one, Reinforcing Positive Psychological State, influences both Making Future-Oriented Strategic Decisions and Modelling the Opportunities and Importance, while the two latter are interrelated. By applying the behaviours illustrated in the framework, leaders behave in a way that fosters the innovation of sustainable outcomes.

CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, located in Geneva, Switzerland, was founded in 1954. Even before its first experiments started operating, the Organisation was very clear on wanting to be as open as possible with the data and research it would be producing. In 1993, CERN became a pioneer in the field of open source and Open Access by putting the software behind the World Wide Web into the Public Domain. Today, it is fighting on multiple fronts for these ideals, whether developing new software that will help share data, analyses and research openly, or being the driving force behind historic agreements, between publishers of High- Energy Physics (HEP) literature and institutions who publish in that field, aiming to make every single HEP article Open Access.The internet, and more specifically the Web, is the perfect substratefor open and collaborative projects. For the last 20 years, one method for this openness has become increasingly ubiquitous: the semantic Web. An idea launched by the inventor of the Web himself –SirTim Berners-Lee – togetherwith James Hendler and Ora Lassila, its intention was to go beyond the original principle of the first Web (Web 1.0) that had human-readable documents (Web pages) on separate servers, whicha human had to “visit” to read. The semantic Web adds semantics (here, machine-understandable meaning) to data, and makes it findable and interlinkable. This Bachelor project posits that collaborative Web projects such asthe ones under the Wikimedia Foundation umbrella, and more specifically Wikidata whichusessemantic technologies, are the perfect medium to help CERN be even more open and discoverable on the Web. It starts by looking for data about CERN that is interesting and harvestable (from INSPIRE –a HEP repository), then goes on to test pushing that data to Wikidata, and finishes by trying to assess the effect of the changes. Thisassessment being close to impossible to carry out, thethesis concludes with a few aspects that show how this kind of work canneverthelesshave a great deal of value.The two deliverables of this project were programs harvesting data from Inspire and transforming it into batches of semantic statements ready to be uploaded to Wikidata. The first, dealing with links between CERN people and their publications, created close to 6300 statements about 270 authors. The second, dealing with links between people and CERN, created 68 statements, representing an increase of over 12% of suche links already on Wikidata.

The Széchenyi István Geophysical Observatory, also known as the Nagycenk Geophysical Observatory (NCK), was established in 1957. It has been the only measurement site in Hungary where observations of various parameters of the atmospheric global electric circuit are made in the framework of organized research under the umbrella of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). Measurements of the atmospheric electrical potential gradient (PG) and Schumann resonances (SRs) running quasi-continuously in the observatory for decades provide an invaluable source of information for geophysical research. This paper gives an overview on the history of the observatory and particularly on various atmospheric electricity (AE) measurements on-site to commemorate the efforts and excellence of the people who served atmospheric sciences by dedicating their lives to obtaining high-quality, reliable data and scientific achievements at the highest possible level.

Ausgangspunkt für diese Arbeit war die Notwendigkeit, Managementmaßnahmen für Augewässer im Europaschutzgebiet ‚Traun-Donau-Auen in Linz zu entwickeln. Die Donauregulierung und der Bau von Flusskraftwerken unterwarfen die Au einem fortschreitenden Alterungsprozess. Stillgewässer stellen wertvolle Relikte der früher dynamischen Flusslandschaft dar, da sie Lebensraum für seltene aquatische Arten sind. Ziel dieser Arbeit war, Maßnahmen für ein nachhaltiges Auenmanagement vorzuschlagen, wobei sowohl die fortschreitende Auensukzession als auch die große Diversität an Wasserpflanzen berücksichtigt wurden. Die Untere Lobau bei Wien bot die Gelegenheit, isolierte und abgedämmte Gewässer hinter dem Hochwasserschutzdamm zu vergleichen und die direkte Auswirkung von Hochwässern auf Wasserpflanzen in der aktiven Auenzone zu studieren. Folgende Forschungsfragen waren zentral: Welche Makrophytengesellschaften kommen in den Gewässern vor? Welche Indikatorarten können identifiziert werden? Wie beeinflussen Hochwässer aquatische Makrophyten? Wie unterscheiden sich die Artenzusammensetzung und die Häufigkeit von Makrophyten in abgedämmten und nicht abgedämmten Teilen der Au? Welche langfristigen Auswirkungen hätte künstliches Fluten auf die Makrophyten? Wie verändert sich die Artenzusammensetzung in von Hochwässern abgeschnittenen Gewässern? Wie beeinflussen die Interessen von Interessensvertretern die Entscheidungen im Auenmanagement? Um Antworten auf diese Fragen zu erhalten, wurden Geländearbeiten in den Donauauen in Linz und Wien durchgeführt. Aquatische Makrophyten wurden mit der Methode nach Kohler kartiert. Die Daten wurden in sechs Kapiteln aufgearbeitet, die großteils schon publiziert sind. Mögliche Rehabilitationsmaßnahmen wurden präsentiert, und Für und Wider einer allmählichen Wiederanbindung von Auengewässern an die Donau wurden im Licht relevanter Literatur diskutiert. Zuletzt wurden konkrete Empfehlungen für das Management der Stillgewässer in den Donauauen in Linz gegeben. The starting point for this doctoral thesis was the need to develop management measures for floodplain water bodies in the European nature reserve ‘Traun-Donau-Auen in Linz. River regulation and power plant construction subjected the floodplain to progressive floodplain ageing and terrestrialization. Small and lentic water bodies represent valuable relics of the former dynamic river landscape as they provide habitats for rare aquatic species. This thesis aimed at proposing measures for a sustainable floodplain management considering both the constant ageing of the floodplain and the existing aquatic plant biodiversity. The Lower Lobau floodplain at Vienna provided an opportunity to compare isolated water bodies behind the flood protection levee and to study the effect of flooding on aquatic macrophytes at sites located in the active floodplain directly impacted by the Danube. The following research questions were central: What macrophyte assemblages occur in the water bodies? What indicator species can be defined? How do floods influence aquatic macrophytes? What is the difference in macrophyte species composition and abundance in protected and non-protected parts of the floodplain? How would artificial flooding impact macrophytes in the long term? How does the species composition change in water bodies isolated from flooding? How do stakeholder interests influence the decision making in floodplain management? To obtain responses to these questions, field surveys were conducted in water bodies in the Danube floodplain in Linz and Vienna. Aquatic macrophytes were assessed using the Kohler methodology. Data were processed in six chapters that have mostly been published yet. Possible rehabilitation measures were presented, and pros and cons of a gradual reconnection of backwaters with the Danube were discussed in the light of relevant literature. Finally, specific recommendations for the management of the lentic water bodies in the Danube floodplain in Linz were given. Mag.
