Abstract

Light rare-earth antimonide LaSb2 is a material susceptible to nesting and exhibits a Charge Density Wave (CDW) at 355 K as well as superconductivity below 1.2 K. In the seek for additional CDW transitions, we have studied the temperature-dependent of LaSb2 at 200 and 13 K and infer CDW manifestations by combining angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. ARPES measurements at 200 K show a metallic system while it appears to be semiconducting at 13 K, at odds with existing resistivity measurements. At 13 K, ARPES shows the band folding of the inner Fermi surface pockets, with considerable spectral weight on the folded band. We find a nesting vector at q = 0.25$\pm$0.02 {\AA} -1. In addition, we observe Umklapps of other bands due to the onset of the new periodicity, together with a semiconducting behavior in the whole reciprocal space. Calculations demonstrate that the folded band is associated with the La-Sb layer and that in-plane distortion is the most probable structural modification in the system, probably affecting the whole unit cell., Comment: In this work, the discussion presents two interpretations to explain the experimental results. We withdraw this work because after further discussions and data analysis we have concluded that only one of the two interpretations is consistent with the experimental results

3. Dynamics of Li deposition on epitaxial graphene/Ru(0001) islands

Abstract

Li metal has been deposited on the surface of a Ru(0001) single crystal containing patches of monolayer-thick epitaxial graphene islands. The use of low-energy electron microscopy and diffraction allowed us to {\em in situ} monitor the process by measuring the local work function as well as to study the system in real and reciprocal space, comparing the changes taking place on the graphene with those on the bare Ru(0001) surface. It is found that Li deposition decreases the work function of the graphene islands but to a much smaller degree than of the Ru(0001) surface, as corresponds to its intercalation below the graphene overlayer. Finally, the diffusion process of Li out of the graphene islands has been monitored by photoelectron microscopy using a visible-light laser., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures. Abstract

Electrically driven thermal changes in PbSc0.5Ta0.5O3 bulk ceramics are investigated using temperature and electric-field dependent differential scanning calorimetry and infrared thermometry. On first application and removal of electric field, we find asymmetries in the magnitude of isothermal entropy change $\Delta$ S and adiabatic temperature change $\Delta$ T, due to hysteresis. On subsequent field cycling, we find further asymmetries in the magnitude of $\Delta$ T due to non-linearity in the isofield legs of entropy-temperature plots.

Key words preventionnausea and vomitingMASCC–ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelineradiotherapychemotherapy Introduction Nausea and vomiting are still considered to be two of the most troublesome adverse events (AEs) for patients treated with antineoplastic therapy. To optimise the utility of available antiemetic prophylaxis, updated reviews of the relevant literature and evidence-based guideline recommendations are crucial. The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) completed the fourth Consensus Conference on Antiemetics for the prevention of nausea and vomiting in patients with cancer in Copenhagen in June 2015.1 This article is an update of the 2015 guidelines. Methodology The methodology for the guideline process is described in detail in the 2010 publication.2 The reporting of the literature search followed the PRISMA criteria for systematic reviews.3 The current update of the recommendations includes studies published from 1 June 2015 to 31 January 2023 (for details of the literature search and reporting, refer to the paragraphs reviewing the specific topic). The Consensus Committee consisted of 34 multidisciplinary, health care professionals with expertise in antiemetic research (physicians, nurses, pharmacists and pharmacologists) and three patient advocates representing a total of 18 countries and five continents. To change a 2015 recommendation or for a new guideline recommendation to be accepted, a consensus of at least 67% of the expert panellists was needed. The panel considered changes of ≥10% to be sufficient to warrant the changing of a 2015 recommendation. Indapamide is a nontiazidic sulfonamide diuretic which has not been previously reported as a cause of fixed drug eruption. We describe a patient who experienced several episodes of fixed drug eruption during treatment with indapamide. The diagnosis was confirmed by positive controlled oral challenge test. Abstract

We present precise tests of CP and CPT symmetry based on the full dataset of K to pipi decays collected by the KTeV experiment at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory during 1996, 1997, and 1999. This dataset contains 16 million K to 2pi0 and 69 million K to pi+pi- decays. We measure the direct CP violation parameter Re(epsilon'/epsilon) = (19.2 pm 2.1)x10-4. We find the KL-KS mass difference Deltam = (5270 pm 12)x10^6 hbar/s and the KS lifetime tauS = (89.62 pm 0.05)x10-12 s. We also measure several parameters that test CPT invariance. We find the difference between the phase of the indirect CP violation parameter, epsilon, and the superweak phase, phi_epsilon - phi_SW = (0.40 pm 0.56) degrees. We measure the difference of the relative phases between the CP violating and CP conserving decay amplitudes for K to pi+pi- (phi+-) and for K to 2pi0 (phi00), Delta phi = (0.30 pm 0.35) degrees. From these phase measurements, we place a limit on the mass difference between K0 and K0bar, DeltaM < 4.8 x 10-19 GeV/c^2 at 95% C.L. We calculate the spin dependent static force between two D0-branes in Matrix theory. Supersymmetry relates velocity dependent potentials to spin dependent potentials. The well known v^4/r^7 term is related to a theta^8/r^11 term, where theta is the relative spin of the D0-branes. 41. Improving barocaloric properties by tailoring transition hysteresis in Mn₃Cu₁-ₓSnₓN antiperovskites

Abstract

The magnetically frustrated manganese nitride antiperovskite family displays significant changes of entropy under changes in hydrostatic pressure near a first-order antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic phase transition that can be useful for the emerging field of solid-state barocaloric cooling. In previous studies, the transition hysteresis has significantly reduced the reversible barocaloric effects (BCE). Here we show that the transition hysteresis can be tailored through quaternary alloying in the Mn3Cu$_{1-x}$Sn$_{x}$N system. We find the magnitude of hysteresis is minimised when Cu and Sn are equiatomic (x = 0.5) reaching values far less than previously found for Mn3AN ($A = $ Pd, Ni, Ga, Zn), whilst retaining entropy changes of the same order of magnitude.
