Based on the patient’s pattern of responses, we calculated his/her probability of choosing each treatment, using data from a prior DCE. Following pilot testing, we conducted a cross-sectional study to determine the agreement between the predicted and final stated preference, as a measure of value concordance. Secondary outcomes including time to completion and usability were also evaluated.Results: Pilot testing was completed with 10 patients and adjustments were made. We then recruited 29 patients to complete the survey: median age 57, 55% female. The patients were all taking treatment and had well-controlled disease. The predicted treatment agreed with the final treatment chosen by the patient 21/29 times (72%), similar to the expected agreement from the mean of the predicted probabilities (68%). Triple therapy was the predicted treatment 24/29 times (83%) and chosen 20/29 (69%) times. Half of the patients (51%) agreed that completing the choice questions helped them to understand their preferences (38% neutral, 10% disagreed). The tool took an average of 15 minutes to complete, and median usability scores were 55 (system usability scale) indicating “OK” usability.Conclusion: Using a DCE as a value-clarification task within a decision aid is feasible, with promising potential to help nudge patients towards a value-centric decision. Usability testing suggests further modifications are needed prior to implementation, perhaps by having the DCE exercises as an “add-on” to a simpler decision aid.Keywords: conjoint analysis, decision tool, value concordance, methotrexate

We have analyzed 75 isolates of Plasmodium falciparum, collected in Venezuela during both the dry (November) and rainy (May-July) seasons, with a range of genetic markers including antigen genes and 14 random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) primers. Thirteen P. falciparum stocks from Kenya and four other Plasmodium species are included in the analysis for comparison. Cross-hybridization shows that the 14 RAPD primers reveal 14 separate regions of the parasite's genome. The P. falciparum isolates are a monophyletic clade, significantly different from the other Plasmodium species. We identify three RAPD characters that could be useful as "tags" for rapid species identification. The Venezuelan genotypes fall into two discrete genetic subdivisions associated with either the dry or the rainy season; the isolates collected in the rainy season exhibit greater genetic diversity. There is significant linkage disequilibrium in each seasonal subsample and in the full sample. In contrast, no linkage disequilibrium is detected in the African sample. These results support the hypothesis that the population structure of P. falciparum in Venezuela, but not in Africa, is predominantly clonal. However, the impact of genetic recombination on Venezuelan P. falciparum seems higher than in parasitic species with long-term clonal evolution like Trypanosoma cruzi, the agent of Chagas' disease. The genetic structure of the Venezuelan samples is similar to that of Escherichia coli, a bacterium that propagates clonally, with occasional genetic recombination.

Résumé: L'objectif de cet article est d’expliquer les processus par lesquels les actions publiques de déguerpissement favorisent l'émergence d’une nouvelle forme de modernité et la promotion de nouveaux types de légitimités urbaines dans le District d'Abidjan. Les résultats de l'étude révèlent que trois principales stratégies sont adoptées par les promoteurs de cet instrument de gouvernance urbaine : le redressement de la politique de la ville en matière de lutte contre le désordre urbain, la propension de l’urbanisme informel et les occupations anarchiques du domaine public, les innovations en matière de gouvernance et la réalisation d’ une série d'infrastructures novatrices et la stimulation à la reproduction de « bonnes pratiques » de développement urbain. Les enjeux associés à ces strategies contribuent à la fois à la relance de l'attractivité du District et à l'adoption d'une conception du droit à la ville fondée sur la recherche de solutions visant non seulement à promouvoir le respect d'une participation et d'une appartenance encadrées, mais aussi à valoriser une nouvelle offre de protection et de solidarité de l'État. Ce papier détaille des avancées applicatives de contrôle térahertz liées à deux technologies de radars FMCW à visée de contrôle volumique non destructif et de métrologie d’épaisseur. D’un côté, les développements d’un radar FMCW a base de multiplicateurs Schottky GaAs à 150 GHz possédant des performances à l’état de l’art sont détaillées, avec, en particulier, un SNR de 100 dB, une cadence de 7.7 kHz et une stabilité à long terme, optimales pour des moyens de détection en ligne. Et de l’autre, la présentation d’une approche de détection pour le contrôle de caractéristiques matériaux et la métrologie d’épaisseur, faisant usage d’un radar SiGe, plus abordable et très compact. Grâce aux développements d’algorithmes nouveaux, une extraction d’épaisseur, d’indices de réfraction et de coefficients d’absorption est réalisable sur des épaisseurs de matériaux inférieures au millimètre, bien en-deçà des performances intrinsèques du transceiver limité par la bande passante.

A new laboratory OrbitrapTM cell-based mass spectrometer, OLYMPIA (Orbitrap anaLYseur MultiPle IonisAtion), without a C-trap module, has been developed and constructed. The first operation of the OrbitrapTM cell-based device with the continuous ion source and without the C-trap module is reported. OLYMPIA is being developed and used as a workbench platform to test and develop technologies for the next generation of spaceborne mass spectrometers and as a laboratory instrument to perform high-resolution studies of space-relevant chemical processes. This instrument has been used to measure the quantitative composition of CO/N2/C2H4 mixtures of the same nominal mass using an electron ionization ion source. The relative abundance of ions has been measured using a short acquisition time (up to 250 ms) with a precision of better than 10% (for most abundant ions) and a mass resolution of 30,000–50,000 (full width at half maximum) over the mass range of m/z 28–86. The achieved mass accuracy of measurements is better than 20 ppm. This performance level is sufficient to resolve and identify the CO/N2/C2H4 components of the mixtures. The dynamic range and relative ion abundance measurements have been evaluated using a reference normal isotopic distribution of krypton gas. The measurement accuracy is about 10% for the 4 most abundant isotopes; 6 isotopes are detectable.

This paper presents the development, performance, integration, and implementation of a 150 GHz FMCW radar based on a homodyne harmonic mixing scheme for noncontact, nondestructive testing. This system offers high-dynamic-range measurement capabilities up to 100 dB and measurement rates up to 7.62 kHz. Such interesting characteristics make this system attractive for imaging applications or contactless sensing. Numerous samples of different materials and geometries were imaged by taking advantage of the radar’s performance. By taking into account the nonionizing capability of the system, new applicative fields such as food industry and pharmaceutical packaging were explored.
