Multiple and complex factors contribute to the health inequities faced by refugee children accessing mental health care. Nurses play a critical role in addressing health inequities through education, practice, policy, and research. Intersectionality theory holds the potential to support nursing research that seeks to critically examine intersecting social identities and power structures that impact health inequities experienced by refugee children with mental health difficulties. Using Fawcett's framework, this article examined intersectionality theory and its applicability to the topic of inquiry. Introduction: Indigenous people in Canada encounter negative treatment when accessing primary health care (PHC). Despite several qualitative accounts of these experiences, there still has not been a qualitative review conducted on this topic. In this qualitative systematic review, we aimed to explore Indigenous people's experiences in Canada with PHC services, determine urban versus rural or remote differences and identify recommendations for quality improvement., Methods: This review was guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute's methodology for systematic reviews of qualitative evidence. MEDLINE, CINAHL, PubMed, PsycInfo, Embase and Web of Science as well as grey literature and ancestry sources were used to identify relevant articles. Ancestry sources were obtained through reviewing the reference lists of all included articles and determining the ones that potentially met the eligibility criteria. Two independent reviewers conducted the initial and full text screening, data extraction and quality assessment. Once all data were gathered, they were synthesized following the meta-aggregation approach (PROSPERO CRD42020192353)., Results: The search yielded a total of 2503 articles from the academic databases and 12 articles from the grey literature and ancestry sources. Overall, 22 articles were included in this review. Three major synthesized findings were revealed-satisfactory experiences, discriminatory attitudes and systemic challenges faced by Indigenous patients-along with one synthesized finding on their specific recommendations., Conclusion: Indigenous people value safe, accessible and respectful care. The discrimination and racism they face negatively affect their overall health and well-being. Hence, it is crucial that changes in health care practice, structures and policy development as well as systemic transformation be implemented immediately., Competing Interests: The authors declare there are no conflicts of interest.

Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to determine the incidence of revision and report on clinical outcomes at a minimum of 10 years follow-up in patients who had received a medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) with an three-dimensional image-based robotic system., Methods: A total of 239 patients (247 knees), who underwent medial robotic-arm assisted (RA)-UKA at a single center between April 2011 and June 2013, were assessed. The mean age at surgery was 67.0 years (SD 8.4). Post-operatively, patients were administered the Forgotten Joint Score-12 (FJS-12) and asked about their satisfaction (from 1 to 5). Post-operative complications were recorded. Failure mechanisms, revisions and reoperations were collected. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were calculated, considering revision as the event of interest., Results: A total of 188 patients (196 knees) were assessed at a mean follow-up of 11.1 years (SD 0.5, range 10.0-11.9), resulting in a 79.4% follow-up rate. Seven RA-UKA underwent revision, resulting in a survivorship rate of 96.4% (CI 94.6%-99.2%). Causes of revision included aseptic loosening (2 cases), infection (1 case), post-traumatic (1 case), and unexplained pain (3 cases). The mean FJS-12 and satisfaction were 82.2 (SD 23.9) and 4.4 (SD 0.9), respectively. Majority of cases (174/196, 88.8%) attained the Patient Acceptable Symptoms State (PASS, FJS-12 > 40.63). Male subjects had a higher probability of attaining a "forgotten joint" (p < 0.001) and high satisfaction (equal to 5, p < 0.05), when compared to females., Conclusions: Three-dimensional image-based RA-UKA demonstrated high implant survivorship and good-to-excellent clinical outcomes at minimum 10 years follow-up. Background and Aim of the Work: Fractures of the femoral stem neck are a rare complication in hip prosthetic surgery, especially in non-modular components. The authors report a case associated with massive heterotopic ossifications, with the purpose to analyze risk factors and specific characteristics., Methods: A case of femoral monobloc stem neck rupture is described. A non-systematic literature review regarding risk factors for femoral stem neck fracture was conducted in the PubMed database., Results: We report the case of a 61-year-old male who underwent surgery to remove calcifications four years after THA. Four months later the patient reported acute pain in the left hip, arising after a combined movement of external rotation and axial load while standing on the left foot, in the absence of any prodromic symptom. On radiographs, a displaced fracture of the neck of the hip prosthesis was revealed, together with massive heterotopic ossifications. After THA revision the patient's symptoms were resolved., Conclusions: Prosthetic femoral neck fractures are a rare complication. We suggest that this case represents a unique type of fatigue rupture, where neck length and the presence of massive heterotopic calcifications contributed to flexion forces, resulting in failure in the midpoint of the neck.

Children and adolescents are a population at particular risk of experiencing adverse mental health repercussions related to pandemics. To understand vulnerability factors and repercussions of pandemics and related sanitary measures on children and adolescents' mental health, we performed a scoping review to examine and synthesize literature. In total, 66 articles were included. Results present: (1) factors that increase vulnerability to adverse mental health repercussions (e.g., having a pre-existing mental health condition, social isolation, low socio-economic status, parental distress, and overexposure to media content) and (2) specific mental health repercussions (e.g., anxiety, fear, depression, and externalizing behaviors). Addressing concerns underlined in this review could contribute to preventing further negative mental health repercussions of pandemics for children and adolescents and better prepare governments and professionals to address these highly challenging situations. Recommendations for practice include enhancing healthcare professionals' awareness about possible detrimental repercussions pandemics and sanitary measures have on children and adolescents' mental health, assessing changes for those with pre-existing mental health conditions, allocating funding for telehealth research, and providing greater support to healthcare providers.

Topic: Public health measures implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic severely disrupted children and adolescents' (C&A) lives, affecting their sense of structure, predictability, and security., Purpose: To examine C&A' experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic to better understand how this context and its associated public health measures affected them and their mental health, and to identify helpful coping strategies., Sources Used: The study was guided by a participatory hermeneutic framework. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 25 C&A aged 6-17 years during the first and second pandemic waves. Participants' interviews were analyzed following a narrative synthesis approach, through which C&A' experiences were contrasted and contextualized to highlight relevant themes., Conclusions: Participants described a distinct pattern related to their mental health as the pandemic unfolded, which followed the severity of the pandemic in the province. Negative repercussions on their mental health were linked to the loss of social activities, imposed public health measures, transition to online learning, and challenges with family relationships. Certain youth shared positive societal and moral reflections triggered by the pandemic context. Coping strategies reported include: having a variety of hobbies; expressing their emotions; and accessing financial and material resources. This study highlights the importance of supporting C&A' mental health during crisis situations such as a pandemic. Objective: The objectives of this review are to aggregate and synthesize experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada when receiving primary health care services; differentiate experiences from services provided in urban versus rural or remote settings; and identify recommendations to enhance quality of primary health care provision., Introduction: Primary health care plays a crucial role in overall population health and health equity. In Canada, Indigenous peoples continue to face disproportionate health disparities. Survey and qualitative studies on the experiences of Indigenous populations with primary health care services reveal alarming findings of inadequate health care access, racial discrimination, negligence, and cultural insensitivities. However, these studies do not entirely assess the primary care and essential public health functions component. This protocol will be the first qualitative systematic review to thoroughly synthesize Indigenous peoples' overall primary health care experiences across all Canada, in both rural and urban settings., Inclusion Criteria: The population of interest is self-identified Indigenous peoples, who have first- and/or second-hand experience receiving primary health care services in Canada, regardless of their age, gender, or medical condition. Our focus is on patients' experiences in contexts where primary health care services are delivered in Canada. Only qualitative studies in English or French will be considered., Methods: MEDLINE, CINAHL, PubMed, PsycINFO, Embase, and Web of Science will be used as information sources in addition to Google Scholar, Bielefeld Academic Search Engine, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, and other relevant organization websites. Two independent reviewers will perform the screening, critical appraisal, and data extraction of selected articles.
