This research paper delves into a comprehensive analysis of the financial and life satisfaction levels among the youth in Croatia, with a keen focus on understanding the intricate relationship between these two constructs. The primary objective of this study is to assess the significance of individual financial satisfaction as a key predictor of overall happiness and satisfaction levels. By leveraging a robust dataset collected from both university and high-school students in Croatia, and employing rigorous regression analysis techniques, we have uncovered compelling evidence that underscores the substantial influence of financial satisfaction on bolstering one's life satisfaction. Our findings underscore the critical role of improving financial satisfaction and exercising effective control over personal finances in augmenting overall happiness levels. Through a nuanced exploration of these dimensions, this study paves the way for actionable insights and strategies to enhance well-being among the youth in Croatia.

Family stressors, such as sudden financial changes, high levels of debt, separation from family members, divorce of parents, can significantly impact a family's ability to make ends meet. These stressors negatively affect parent-child relationships, ultimately impacting family well- being. The ability of youth to make ends meet is crucial for their well-being and future prospects. This research examines the impact family stressors on making ends meet using the sample of young adults in Croatia. The principal component analysis is used to extract the family stressors and making ends meet component. Furthermore, regression model of the impact of family stressors on making ends meet is estimated. The model points to statistically significant negative impact of family stressors on making ends meet. The results of this research should be regarded in the context of the need to provide support to families experiencing financial stressors to mitigate the negative effects on family functioning and well-being.

Individuals are increasingly being encouraged to take responsibility for their financial well- being, particularly their retirement. Therefore, examining pension literacy is critical, since it helps in sustaining financial security during times of financial fragility. This paper investigates pension knowledge, attitudes and private retirement savings among Generation X. It analyzes the importance and provides an overview of pension literacy in Croatia. The results show that pension literacy in Croatia among Generation x is moderate and there is substantial space to improve the level of pension knowledge, attitudes, and particularly, pension behavior.

This s review plays a vital role in providing a critical summary and the overview of what is and what is not know in the field related to the terminology of financial literacy and capabiltiy. Even though the research and practice of financial literacy has been vastly growing in the past couple of years, it is left underdeveloped in terms of clear theoretical, conceptual and methodological terms. The paper maps 329 journal articles in the field of financial literacy and financial capability. The conceptual and methodological gaps suggest academics and practitioners should be oriented towards theoretical positioning, the division of appropriate measurement tools, the more usage of qualitative and mixed method approaches and multidisciplinary approach to research.

Mnogi čimbenici koji potiču pojedince na određenu vrstu ponašanja javljaju se u kontekstu obitelji i na njih se može utjecati kroz procese obiteljske socijalizacije. Ovaj rad istražuje stavove mladih o planiranju mirovine s posebnim naglaskom na važnost obitelji kao jednog od agenata financijske socijalizacije. S ciljem boljeg razumijevanja utjecaja koji procesi obiteljske socijalizacije mogu imati na stavove o planiranju mirovine mladih, istraživanje je provedeno na uzorku srednjoškolaca završnih razreda školovanja i studenata (n=746) u Hrvatskoj, starosti od 16 do 25 godina. Riječ je o važnoj skupini koja će uskoro postati dijelom tržišta rada i donositi financijske odluke koje će odrediti njihovu financijsku budućnost. Podaci su prikupljeni korištenjem visoko strukturiranog anketnog upitnika u razdoblju tijekom 2020. i 2021. godine. Korištenjem analize glavnih komponenata izlučeni su faktori koji odražavaju stavove o planiranju mladih i obiteljske norme. Primjenom regresijske analize ispitan je učinak obiteljskih normi na stavove mladih o planiranju mirovine. Nalazi provedenog istraživanja ukazuju na statistički značajan pozitivan učinak roditeljskih normi na stavove mladih o privatnoj štednji za mirovinu. Prema saznanjima autorica, trenutno ne postoji studija koja na slučajnom uzorku istražuje stavove mladih u Hrvatskoj o planiranju štednje za mirovinu te povezanost iste roditeljskim normama. Rezultati ovog istraživanja bit će korisni regulatorima, financijskim edukatorima, javnim institucijama kao i široj javnosti u nastojanju da se mlade usmjeri prema usvajanju stavova koji će povećati njihovu sklonost ka planiranju financijske budućnosti i povećati njihovu štednju za mirovinu.

Svrha ove knjige je upoznati publiku s temeljnim spoznajama vezanim uz financijsku pismenost i odgovornu potrošnju. Knjiga je nastala iz zajedničkog nastojanja autorica da tematiku financijske pismenosti na jednostavan i zanimljiv način približe prosječnom građaninu koji se svakodnevno susreće s različitim izazovima u procesu odgovornog i uspješnog upravljanja osobnim financijama. Posljednjih godina svijest o velikoj važnosti poznavanja tehnika uspješnog upravljanja osobnim financijama te poznavanje čimbenika koji utječu na potrošačko ponašanje pojedinaca i kućanstava, propulzivno su rasli. Posljedica je to kontinuirane evolucije u izgledu i načinu provođenja financijske, ekonomske i demografske politike, kao i postupnog prijenosa rizika s države i njezinih institucija na same pojedince, zbog čega se financijska pismenost danas može smatrati ključnom životnom vještinom društva. Važnost financijske pismenosti vrlo je izražena s obzirom na njezinu ulogu u društvu, implikacije i načine na koje pojedinci zarađuju, troše, investiraju i štede svoj novac. Takva znanja i vještine pomažu pojedincu u donošenju informiranih i odgovornih odluka o raspolaganju vlastitim novčanim sredstvima te danas predstavlja ključ razumijevanja kompleksnosti financijskog i ukupnog tržišta te glavnu komponentu osnaženja potrošača. Knjiga služi kao svojevrsni vodič za shvaćanje iracionalnosti ljudskog ponašanja s novcem, kognitivnih zabluda i pogrešaka, za upoznavanje s odgovornim potrošačkim ponašanjem te donošenjem odluka o kupnji, za kreiranje detaljnog plana financijskih aktivnosti te kao vodič za bolje razumijevanje mnogobrojnih financijskih pitanja iz svakodnevnog života. Važno je naglasiti da je riječ o radu koji je nastao kao rezultat višegodišnjeg znanstvenog i stručnog rada, ali i iskustva stečenog tijekom aktivnog terenskog rada i održavanja velikog broja radionica financijske pismenosti za građane u Republici Hrvatskoj. U knjizi su obuhvaćene teme iz svakodnevnog života, kao i mnogobrojni savjeti za unapređenje vlastite financijske pozicije stoga se nadamo da će ova knjiga biti ne samo literatura za financijske predmete preddiplomskih sveučilišnih i stručnih studija, već rad koji će svojom širinom i zanimljivošću privući sve građane koji žele unaprijediti vlastite financijske navike i napraviti korak prema pismenijem i odgovornijem ponašanju u svakodnevnom životu. Ako bude uspješna, ova knjiga trebala bi povećati vašu svijest o načinima kreiranja uspješnog osobnog financijskog plana te vas potaknuti na optimalnu potrošnju i odgovorno financijsko ponašanje.

Svrha je ove monografije upoznati znanstvenu, stručnu i širu publiku s nekim od temeljnih spoznaja socijalizacije djece kao potrošača te s potrebom njihove financijske pismenosti. Budući da se danas djeca sve više prikazuju kao individualizirani, autonomni potrošači te da zanimanje marketinških stručnjaka za taj segment potrošača raste, ova knjiga prvi put na ovim prostorima obrađuje tu važnu i dosad zanemarenu temu. Isto tako, veliki broj relevantnih aktera svakim danom sve više naglašava značaj financijske sposobnosti i pismenosti djece i mladih, i pritom je ističu kao esencijalnu komponentu za postizanje punog društvenog i ekonomskog potencijala budućih generacija. U današnje vrijeme osnovno financijsko te ekonomsko obrazovanje sve je od većeg značaja za sve skupine stanovnika. Iz istog razloga, napravljena je analiza i sinteza različitih formalnih i neformalnih aktivnosti usmjerenih podizanju razine osnovnog financijskog obrazovanja. Budući da su trendovi obrazovanja doveli do povećanja prisutnosti financijske pismenosti u poučavanju, doprinos je ove monografije u predstavljanju rezultata istraživanja nastavnika o temi financijske pismenosti te davanju preporuka za kvalitetnije buduće obrazovanje učenika na ovu temu. Monografi ja sadržava osam članaka koji se mogu grupirati u tri dijela: prvi dio Djeca kao potrošači, drugi dio Financijska pismenost – teorijski pregled dosadašnjih studija i treći dio Istraživanja na temu financijske pismenosti – empirijski nalazi predmetnog istraživanja.

This paper tends to reveal whether individuals are more prone to behave like Homo-economicus or irrational individual led by short-run motivation. According to the traditional economic theory, individuals behave perfectly rationally and make their financial decisions based on their knowledge. On the other hand, behavioral theory neglects rational behavior assumed by traditional economics. Individuals do not act in their best interest and are prone to make irrational and wrong decisions. In the behavioral economics literature, as opposed to homo economicus, the irrational behavior is represented by the character of Homer Simpson who is often unreasonable, short-run-motivated, responsibility-averse, and does not use the acquired knowledge adequately. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the impact of financial knowledge, as a result of financial education, and behavioral control on subsequent financial behavior. Therefore, based on the results of the survey conducted among Croatian citizens, this research uses regression modeling to assess how financial knowledge and behavioral control affect responsible financial behavior among Croatian consumers. Results of research are valuable for proper educational policy and providing insight into motives behind the efficient financial behavior.

During the past decade it become obvious that individuals need to have the appropriate level of financial and political knowledge and competencies to make informed decisions and practice active citizenship. Financial and political education are seen as processes intended at rising up the level of financial and political knowledge and skills of citizens. Thus, they may be perceived as a form of public pedagogy. Better understanding of the economic concepts and financial and public system may help citizens to make better financial decisions for themselves and their families, but also to become more supporting or more critical on the economy and the political system they live in. Higher level of financial and political literacy should induce individuals to become more successful in managing their personal finances and to perform an active democratic role in the society and become better citizens and better voters. This paper diverges from the predominant personal approach of financial education and investigates how important dimensions of economic literacy ; financial and political literacy may be addressed in terms of the citizens and government.

Na 50 stranica vodiča građani će saznati kako donositi ispravne financijske odluke i razumjeti svoja potrošačka prava i odgovornosti, što moraju znati kad se zadužuju, kako se ispravno koristiti financijskim proizvodima ; naučit će vještine izrade kućnog proračuna da steknu dobre potrošačke i štedne navike važne za financijsku sigurnost, poput mirovine.

Determining what affects financial successfulness of consumers and identifying the strength and the nature of the relationship between financial knowledge, financial skills and financial behaviour is very important as many individuals are indebted and have experienced serious financial problems. The relevant research indicates that many individuals no matter the level of their financial knowledge and financial skills still make serious financial mistakes and fail to manage their finances successfully.Behavioural economists analysed errors that occur in financial behaviour of individuals and confirmed the significance of psychological factors. The objective of this research is to investigate the transformation of what consumers know about personal finances into how they actually manage them, where behavioural control is also examined as a potential moderator of that relationship. In order to analyze the relationship between the variables, multiple regression and moderation analysis are used. Findings suggest that individuals' financial success depends on all of the examined variables. Furthermore, the moderation effect of behavioural control was partially confirmed.

The estimation of money demand function provides important insight for theory and policy making. The stable demand for money in the long run is very important for the implementation of monetary policy. The income and interest rate elasticity of money demand in Croatia is estimated in this paper using Johansen cointegration method. In line with previous research, the quarterly data on money demand, interest rate and gross domestic product in Croatia are used in the cointegration analysis. The trace test and maximum eigenvalue test both show the existence of one cointegrating relation and the long run money demand function is estimated. In the long run both output and interest rate are significant in explaining money demand. The impact of domestic income on money demand is positive, while interest rate impact is negative, what is in line with relevant empirical research and economic theory. The error correction term shows that variables return into equilibrium for approximately 13 quarters. The conducted analysis offers the coefficients of interest elasticity and income elasticity of money demand which can serve in future research for calibration of dynamic stohastic general equilibrium models of Croatian economy.

During the last decade, the concept of financial literacy and means of its measurement became increasingly popular topics. This paper examines the level of financial literacy among citizens living in Croatia. The findings of this research indicate that financial knowledge and skills are not widespread in Croatia. In that context, the results found for other countries, like United States, Netherlands and Germany are also confirmed in this research. Financial knowledge of basic financial concepts is lacking among women, the less educated, and those living in the east (Panonian) Croatia. In particular, those with low level of general education and women living in the East part have little financial literacy compared to their counterparts from North-West Croatia.

Women often experience insufficient levels of accumulated savings in the retirement and according to previous empirical research women are more exposed to the risk of financial problems, than men. According to the results of empirical researches, there is a general consensus on the lower level of financial literacy, financial knowledge and financial performance of women. This paper examines the level of financial literacy of women living in Croatia and analyses the effect of financial literacy on financial successfulness depending on the gender. In order to analyze the moderation effect of gender in the relationship between financial literacy and financial successfulness, ANOVA two-way analysis is used in this research. The conducted research has important implications for policy and for programs aimed at fostering financial security of women.
