The research conducted in this thesis aims to present a robust camera colour calibration framework to be applied over crowdsourced pictures in purposes of material cultural heritage conservation. When crowdsourcing pictures, there exists lack of knowledge of the cameras of origin, their parameters and the way they uniquely translate light stimuli to digital colour. This is translated to a big uncertainty of the colorimetry of the gathered pictures, which is a considerable disadvantage when there exists an intention to use them as temporal cues to control the visual aspect of the monitored cultural heritage pieces. Colour on the surfaces of certain materials is indicative of their degradation, so ultimatively this framework is used to perform a cheap, easy and non-invasive state control of the pieces under surveillance. Unlike existing calibration solutions, that either require some degree of knowing the problem in beforehand or are unable to convey optimal results, the developed system has been designed with the aim to offer the best results operating in all sRGB domain with no extrapolations needed, does not require human interaction and is quickly calculated for each picture. It overcomes the colorimetric uncertainty of the acquisition disparity by performing adaptive calculations in each picture and is able to homogenise information with a diference between calibrated samples inferior to the diference acceptability threshold. This way, valid cues of the visual aspect of the pieces under control can be retrieved with ease along time. The assets and tools necessary to reach this goal are self-designed in order to avoid monetary costs and human effort and are reliable to use in the given specifc context, but allow a generalist mathematical usage. Different variants on how to perform the calibration -that range from very simple deterministic means to deep learning- and colour charts have been developed, their qualities tested and evaluated to find the optimum results. The conducted research has been successful in finding the optimum results in quality under the given working context and project requirements, and open space for further research in this direction for more specific usages and contexts in the field of cultural heritage conservation. RESUMEN Esta tesis presenta una investigación con el objetivo de alcanzar un sistema de calibración colorimétrica para cámara robusta, a aplicar sobre imágenes de crowdsourcing para conservación de patrimonio cultural material. Cuando se recibe crowdsourcing de imágenes no se conocen las condiciones de las cámaras de adquisición ni sus parámetros internos, composición o la manera que traducen luz a color digital. Esto se puede considerar un gran nivel de incertidumbre en la colorimetría de adquisición; y se trata de una considerable desventaja cuando se pretende usar las imágenes como trazas temporales para controlar el aspecto visual de los objetos patrimoniales a vigilar. El color en las superficies de ciertos materiales es indicativo de su degradación, de forma que con este sistema se pretende conseguir un control del estado de piezas patrimoniales barato, fácil y no invasivo. Contrariamente a soluciones de calibración existentes, que requieren cierto grado de conocimiento del problema a tratar a priori o son incapaces de generar resultados óptimos, el sistema desarrollado ha sido diseñado con el fin de ofrecer la mejor calidad operando en todo el dominio del espacio sRGB sin necesidad de extrapolar matemáticamente. Además no requiere interacción con operarios y se calcula rápidamente para cada imagen. Se supera la disparidad colorimétrica de origen realizando operaciones adaptativas en cada imagen y es capaz de homogeneizar información con una diferencia entre muestras calibradas inferior al umbral de aceptabilidad mínimo. De esta forma, trazas temporales válidas se pueden recuperar a lo largo del período de monitorización. Los atributos y herramientas necesarios para conseguir el fin han sido diseñados de cero para evitar un desembolse monetario exagerado y ahorrar esfuerzos humanos; y también son confiables para su uso en este contexto de trabajo aunque permiten un rango de operación generalista. Se han propuesto diferentes cartas de color y alternativas de calibración -desde soluciones deterministas simples hasta deep learning, y se han evaluado sus cualidades hasta obtener el resultado óptimo. La investigación realizada ha tenido éxito en encontrar la calidad de resultados óptima en las condiciones y requisitos de trabajo dados e innegociables. Además, abre camino para una investigación posterior en esta dirección, por ejemplo para usos y contextos de operación más específicos dentro del campo de la conservación del patrimonio cultural.

En este artículo se expone parte de los resultados del proyecto SmartCampus UPM, cuyo objetivo fundamental es agilizar la gestión domótica y tradicional del Campus de Montegancedo, sede de la ETSI Informáticos de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). Basado en los modelos definidos para las Infraestructuras de Datos Espaciales (IDE), permite que los usuarios puedan navegar libremente, obtener información sobre los edificios o el mobiliario urbano y la visualización mediante cualquier navegador web de mapas generados en la IDE. En este artículo se expone el desarrollo de la IDE del Campus, de un visor web como cliente ligero para visualizar de forma sencilla los mapas generados como alternativa a los clientes pesados habituales Google Earth y gvSIG, y un servicio web con opciones multimedia.--- ABSTRACT--- This paper presents part of the results of the SmartCampusUPM project, whose main objective is to speed up the domotic and traditional management of the Montegancedo Campus, where the ETSI Informáticos of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) is placed. Based on the models defined for the Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI), it allows users to navigate freely, obtain information about buildings or urban furniture and its visualization through any web browser maps generated in the SDI. Also, this paper exposes the development of the SDI of the Campus, of a web viewer as a thin client which helps visualize the generated maps in a simple way, as an alternative to the usual heavy users Google Earth and gvSIG and of a Web service with multimedia options.
