OBJECTIVES Research has shown that cultural identity and psychological well-being are associated. We suggest that negative stereotypes challenge the psychological well-being of people with a migrant background. This research focused on the dynamics of adolescents' ethnic/racial identity (ERI), national identity, stereotype vulnerability, and psychological well-being on the individual level. The study was conducted in Austria over the course of one school year, providing insights on developmental implications of cultural identity for adolescents with a migrant background in Europe. METHODS The sample consisted of 317 (T1) adolescents with a migrant background, recruited at Austrian high schools (age: M = 15.19, SD = 1.11; 233 female; ethnic background: mainly Turkey and Ex-Yugoslavian countries). Longitudinal data from a three-wave study were analyzed by means of a random-intercept cross-lagged panel model. RESULTS Within-person effects provided a better explanation than the between-person approach. Within-person processes suggest that higher levels of ERI commitment and higher national identity predict higher levels of psychological well-being at a later time point, whereas higher levels of ERI exploration and higher stereotype vulnerability predict lower levels of psychological well-being. At the between-person level, findings indicate a positive correlation between ERI exploration and stereotype vulnerability. CONCLUSION The cultural identity and psychological well-being of adolescents with a migrant background fluctuate over time, influenced by the social context. Stereotype vulnerability contributes to lower levels of psychological well-being among adolescents with a migrant background in Austria. Our findings highlight the necessity to partition the variance of constructs to avoid confounding of between-person and within-person effects. Da fur eine differenzierte Motivlage der Inanspruchnahme psychosozialer Nachsorgeleistungen kaum Analysen, fernab des positiven Effekts der eigenen Motivation auf den Betreuungs- und Behandlungserfolg, vorliegen, untersuchte die Studie, die Motive fur die Inanspruchnahme bestimmter psychosozialer Nachsorgeleistungen fur Menschen mit psychischen Problemlagen. Ziel der Studie war es aufzuzeigen, welche Grunde fur die Leistungsnutzung der Angebote Fahigkeitsorientierte Aktivitat, Mobile Betreuung und Hilfe, Psychosoziale Beratungsstelle und Wohnen zentral sind. Zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfragen wurden Daten aus einer kontinuierlich stattfindenden Klientenzufriedenheitsbefragung von 4 Leistungsbereichen uber einen Zeitraum von 5 Jahren (2013–2017) analysiert. Die Klienten wurden hinsichtlich der Wichtigkeit von 5 Motiven (Unterstutzung bei Problemen zu bekommen; mit jemandem uber Probleme sprechen zu konnen; sich verstanden fuhlen; einen Raum der Sicherheit zu haben; das Gefuhl, etwas fur die Gesundheit zu tun) anhand einer 5‑stufigen Antwortskala fur die Inanspruchnahme der Leistung befragt. Die Auswertung der Daten zeigt, dass uber alle Leistungen hinweg das Motiv „sich verstanden fuhlen“ von groser Bedeutung fur die Inanspruchnahme psychosozialer Leistungen ist. Fernab dieses Motivs sind es bei den Leistungen der Fahigkeitsorientierten Aktivitat und dem Wohnen vor allem Sicherheitsaspekte, die zur Inanspruchnahme der Leistung motivieren. Bei den Leistungen der Mobilen Betreuung und Hilfe und der Psychosozialen Beratungsstelle sind vorwiegend instrumentelle Aspekte, wie z. B. Unterstutzung bei Problemen zu bekommen. Generell zeigt sich, dass die Motivstarke, also wie wichtig diese Grunde fur die Nutzung der Leistung sind, bei den Angeboten der Mobilen Betreuung und Hilfe und der Psychosozialen Beratungsstellen am hochsten sind.

Zusammenfassung Ziel der Studie Die Studie untersucht, inwieweit Menschen mit psychosozialem Unterstützungsbedarf von den Leistungsangeboten Fähigkeitsorientierte Aktivität, Mobile Betreuung und Hilfe, Psychosoziale Beratungsstelle und Wohnen profitieren und wie diese Leistungsangebote sich subjektiv auf die Lebensqualität der Betroffenen auswirken. Methodik Für die Beantwortung der Forschungsfragen wurden von den 4 Leistungsbereichen über 5 Jahre (2013–2017) 2099 Datensätze aus Klientenzufriedenheitsbefragungen statistisch ausgewertet. Die Klienten wurden dabei jeweils zum erlebten Nutzen in Bezug auf verschiedene Aspekte (z. B. Wohnsituation, Alltagsbewältigung, Zuversicht) sowie zur empfundenen Lebensqualität befragt. Ergebnisse und Schlussfolgerungen Die Analyse der Daten zeigt eine Verbesserung und Stabilisierung von Lebensqualität nach Zugang in die jeweilige psychosoziale Nachsorge. Diese subjektiv empfundene Verbesserung von Lebensqualität im Laufe der Leistungsnutzung wurde allgemein von allen Nutzern der untersuchten Bereiche wahrgenommen. Allerdings profitieren die Nutzer, in Abhängigkeit von der Leistungsnutzung, in unterschiedlichen Aspekten und die Verbesserung der Lebensqualität ist folglich, je nach Leistungsnutzung, auf unterschiedliche Arten des Nutzens zurückzuführen.

Abstract. Paid work offers latent benefits (e.g., social contact, time structure) that go beyond mere access to financial resources in predicting individuals’ psychological well-being. Despite the importance of the concept for organizational research and practice, available instruments measuring these latent benefits suffer either from psychometric deficiencies or from a scale length that makes integrating them into large-scale work/life surveys cumbersome. Thus, the current two studies ( N = 1,054 and N = 677) report on the development of the Short Latent and Manifest Benefits of Work scale (LAMB-S; cf. Muller, Creed, Waters, & Machin, 2005 ). The new 18-item instrument showed a clear factor structure, appropriate external validities, and even slight improvements in content and criterion validity for some subscales. Overall, the LAMB-S represents an economical instrument with satisfactory psychometric properties, making it an attractive alternative in situations where participant time is limited.

The involuntary loss of paid employment represents an adverse life event that has been suggested to lead to personality change. However, previous research has reported highly contradictory findings. Therefore, a replication of Boyce et al. (2015) is presented. These authors originally identified nonlinear changes in openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Using data from the German National Education Panel Study (N = 5005), we examined the impact of unemployment on personality change across three years. Latent change analyses indicated no effect of job loss on any Big Five trait. Moderating effects of unemployment duration or gender were not found. Even analyses accounting for potential selection effects led to comparable results. Thus, personality seemed invariant despite changes in employment status.

Ziel der hier vorliegenden Studie war es unter Einbezug unterschiedlicher Perspektiven von Teilnehmern (TN), Mitarbeitern (MA) und Fuhrungskraften (FK) eines Anbieters der beruflichen Rehabilitation fur Menschen mit psychischen Gesundheitsproblemen in Osterreich zukunftige Anforderungen des Arbeitsmarktes und die daran gebundenen Bedurfnisse von Beschaftigten zu untersuchen. Das Angebot der psychosozialen beruflichen Rehabilitation des Sozialunternehmens umfasst zwei Haupttypen von Unterstutzungsleistungen: Beratungs- und Begleitungsleistungen und Trainings- und Beschaftigungsleistungen. Die Studie wurde mittels quantitativen und qualitativen Methoden durchgefuhrt. Insgesamt wurden N = 188 MA und N = 620 TN der Beratungs- und Begleitungs- bzw. Trainings- und Beschaftigungsleistungen des Rehabilitations-Anbieters mittels eines Online-Fragebogens zu den Bedurfnissen an einen Arbeitsplatz und den zukunftigen Anforderungen des Arbeitsmarktes befragt. Die Rucklaufquote betrug bei den TN 40,81 % (n = 253) und bei den MA 54,79 % (n = 103). Mittels eines qualitativen leitfadengestutzten Interviews wurden sechs Fuhrungskrafte befragt. Die Ergebnisse verdeutlichen die Bedeutung der Vermittlung von Kompetenzen in Bezug auf neue Technologien (Medien Kompetenz) sowie die Entwicklung und Optimierung von Stressresistenz (Widerstandsfahigkeit) und allgemein der sozialen Kompetenz. Die Vorbereitung auf diese Kompetenzen beurteilen die MA und TN der Beratungs- und Begleitungsleistungen besser als die MA und TN der Trainings- und Beschaftigungsleistungen, welche hingegen die Vorbereitung auf handwerkliche Fertigkeiten besser einstuften. Wahrend die Vermittlung von sozialen Kompetenzen und Widerstandsfahigkeit relativ gut gelingt, sollte die Forderung von Medien Kompetenzen intensiviert werden. Viele Bedurfnisse der TN sind durch den zukunftigen Arbeitsmarkt nur mehr einigermasen gut erfullbar. Der Wegfall von Arbeitsplatzen im Produktionsbereich und die Zunahme an Komplexitat und technischem Know-How fuhren zunehmend zu Vermittlungsschwierigkeiten in den 1. Arbeitsmarkt und bedingen einen 2. Arbeitsmarkt.

There are hardly any studies regarding the specific motives for the use of psychosocial aftercare services. The present study aims to fill this gap by investigating the motives for the use of certain psychosocial aftercare services for people with mental health problems. In particular, the services Ability-Oriented Activity, Mobile Care and Help, Psychosocial Counseling Center and Housing are considered.Data from a client satisfaction surveys which had been conducted on an annual basis over a period of 5 years (2013-2017) were analyzed. Clients were surveyed regarding the importance of 5 motives for service use (getting support with problems; being able to talk to someone about problems; feeling understood; having a space of safety; feeling like they are doing something for their health) using a 5-point response scale.The analyses of the data show that across all services, the motive "feeling understood" is of great importance for the use of psychosocial services. Apart from this motive, it is primarily safety that motivate the use of services of ability-oriented activity and housing. In the case of Mobile Care and Assistance and the Psychosocial Counseling Center, it is predominantly instrumental aspects, such as getting support with problems. In general, it can be seen that the motivational strength, i.e. how important these reasons are for using the service, is highest for the services provided by Mobile Care and Assistance and the Psychosocial Counseling Center.HINTERGRUND: Da für eine differenzierte Motivlage der Inanspruchnahme psychosozialer Nachsorgeleistungen kaum Analysen, fernab des positiven Effekts der eigenen Motivation auf den Betreuungs- und Behandlungserfolg, vorliegen, untersuchte die Studie, die Motive für die Inanspruchnahme bestimmter psychosozialer Nachsorgeleistungen für Menschen mit psychischen Problemlagen. This study examines to what extent individuals who need psychosocial support actually benefit from the following support services: capability-oriented activities, mobile caring and support, psychosocial counselling centre, and assisted living. Furthermore, the impact of these support services on clients' quality of life is investigated.We statistically analysed data (n = 2,099) collected via client satisfaction surveys over five years (2013 to 2017). The clients reported the benefits they experienced regarding various aspects such as living, coping with everyday life, or confidence, as well as their perceived quality of life.The data suggest, that psychosocial after-care can improve and stabilize clients' quality of life. Clients of all types of support services reported similar improvements of their quality of life. However, clients from different types of support services reported different kinds of benefits, and, accordingly, improvements in quality of life were predicted from different kinds of benefits.Die Studie untersucht, inwieweit Menschen mit psychosozialem Unterstützungsbedarf von den Leistungsangeboten Fähigkeitsorientierte Aktivität, Mobile Betreuung und Hilfe, Psychosoziale Beratungsstelle und Wohnen profitieren und wie diese Leistungsangebote sich subjektiv auf die Lebensqualität der Betroffenen auswirken.Für die Beantwortung der Forschungsfragen wurden von den 4 Leistungsbereichen über 5 Jahre (2013–2017) 2099 Datensätze aus Klientenzufriedenheitsbefragungen statistisch ausgewertet. Selfies are omnipresent, yet quantitative research on the topic is sparse. Selfies are a form of self-expression; but selfie-taking also shapes the selfie-taker's self. We argue that taking selfies in a place strengthens selfie-takers’ identification with that place. In three experimental studies (two-group post-test comparison design), the control group took pictures of a place (Studies 1 & 2: university; Study 3: city), whereas the experimental group took selfies in that place. Place identification was higher in the selfie condition than in the control condition (Study 1). Task enjoyment moderated the effect of taking selfies on place identification (Studies 2 & 3). However, not all sub-dimensions (i.e., affective, cognitive, and conative) of place identification were equally affected by the selfie-task across contexts. Our results suggest that taking selfies in a place can strengthen the linkage between selfie-takers and places. The effect can reverse for individuals who do not enjoy taking selfies.

This study provides insights into the work demands associated with the "world of work 4.0" as well as employee needs from the perspectives of clients, staff, and executives of an Austrian work integration social enterprise (WISE). The WISE offers two main types of rehabilitation and support programs for individuals with psychological health conditions: 1) counselling and assistance programs, and 2) training and employment programs.The study employed a mixed-method design, using both quantitative (online survey) and qualitative methods (semi-structured interviews). N = 620 clients and N = 188 employees from of the rehabilitation programs were invited to take part in an online survey on work demands and employee needs. The response rates were 40.81% (n = 253) among clients and 54.79% (n = 103) among employees. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were conducted among six executives.The results demonstrate that, with respect to the future labour market, participants feel that it is important to develop competences related to new technologies and resilience, but also to train social competences. Employees and clients in counselling and advice programs evaluated the support (provided by the WISE) in achieving methodological competences, resilience, and social competences more positively as compared with employees and clients in training and employment programs. The latter, however, evaluated the support in achieving manual skills more positively.In general, the rehabilitation programs do well in fostering social competences and resilience among their clients, but need to improve their promotion of media competences. Participants' needs can hardly be satisfied through the future labour market, especially the need for low-demand work and the needs for autonomy and personal growth. Additionally, the executives noted that in the future labour market, many jobs in the production sector would be cut, jobs would become more complex, and high technical know-how would be required. They feel that these trends will make it more difficult to place participants into first labour market employment. Accordingly, it would be especially important to secure the second labour market.

Zusammenfassung Ziel Es wird untersucht, wie sich die kognitive Funktionsfähigkeit von Personen mit Demenzerkrankung, die an kognitiven Trainings teilnehmen, entwickelt. Methodik Die Trainingsaufzeichnungen von 5 Personen werden über 1,5 Jahre analysiert. Ergebnisse Die kognitive Funktionsfähigkeit stimmt mit den MMST-Werten überein und nimmt insgesamt in mittlerer Stärke ab; der Abbau ist bei höherer Übungsanzahl geringer. Schlussfolgerung Laufende Dokumentationen kognitiver Trainings können zur Erforschung der Rolle kognitiver Verfahren für die Therapie von Demenzerkrankungen genutzt werden.

Our submission describes the design, development and evaluation of an intergenerational game prototype called Cosmonauts. The aim of the prototype is to identify design factors for intergenerational games that are easy to learn, feature a simple and intuitive control scheme, and offer a certain amount of depth that keeps players enjoying themselves. In detail, our work investigates how different game features (collaborative creation of game content vs. predefined game content) and interaction techniques (tangible objects vs. touchscreen interaction) effect the game experience of old and young (investigated factors: relatedness, autonomy, competence, and enjoyment). Results show that implementing a collaborative creation of game content improves overall game enjoyment, and using tangible objects benefits social relatedness in a collaborative game setting.

The presented empirical study among a sample of n = 256 participants addressed the relationship between consumers' need for uniqueness and their reactions to web-based personalized advertising. Drawing on regulatory focus theory, we argue that the consumers' need for uniqueness dimensions creative choice and similarity avoidance may relate to promotion and prevention regulatory orientations, respectively. Accordingly, we hypothesized that creative choice and similarity avoidance would differentially predict self-reported approach and avoidance behavior toward personalized advertising. These direct relationships were further expected to be mediated by subjective evaluations of personalized advertising (i.e., perceived value and irritation). In line with these hypotheses, we found that creative choice predicted approach behavior through increased web-based personalized advertising value, whereas similarity avoidance predicted avoidance behavior through increased irritation. Creative choice also predicted decreased irritation, which in turn was related to decreased approach behavior. In sum, the results suggest that the consumers' need for uniqueness dimensions should not be investigated as a composite, as they seem to reflect different regulatory orientations and are therefore likely to evoke different affective, cognitive, and behavioral responses.

The involuntary loss of employment has been shown to deteriorate subjective well-being. Adopting a cross-cultural perspective on Jahoda's (1982) deprivation model this study examines several latent and manifest benefits of work that were expected to mediate the effects of employment status on well-being. It was hypothesized that in more collectivistic societies the decline in subjective well-being would be a consequence of a diminished sense of collective purpose for the non-employed, whereas in individualistic societies the crucial factors would be a loss of social status and financial benefits. The findings from two representative national surveys conducted in the United States (N = 1,093) and Japan (N = 647) provided partial support for these hypotheses. Cultural differences moderated the effects of employment status on the benefits of work. As a consequence, different processes mediated the decline in well-being for the non-employed in the two countries. These results are embedded within the wider discourse on culture and its effect on unemployment.

Ziel der Studie: Das vorgestellte Projekt zeigt die Effekte eines gerontopsychiatrischen Konsiliar- und Liaisondienstes (K&L) auf Pflegeheimbewohner und das Betreuungsteam auf. Methode: Die Implementierung des K&L wurde anhand eines quasi-experimentellen Designs im Langsschnitt aus Bewohner-, Pflege-, Arzt- und Angehorigenperspektive mittels quantitativer und qualitativer Methoden evaluiert. Ergebnisse und Schlussfolgerung: Die Ergebnisse liefern Evidenz fur die positiven Effekte von K&L, v. a. in Hinblick auf das „Gemeinsame Handeln“ im Betreuungsteam.

With reference to conservation of resources theory, the authors explored the role of proactive coping in relation to both positive and negative aspects of employee well-being (happiness and depression) when confronted with job insecurity. The authors investigated if coping efficiency improves when employees are highly committed to work, that is, when they have a high level of work involvement. Results of tests with samples of 162 Austrian and 444 Taiwanese employees revealed that, overall, proactive coping was positively related to employee well-being if the perception of job insecurity was low. However, in the case of high job insecurity, the beneficial effect of proactive coping was present only among employees with high work involvement. The interaction was significant for feelings of depression in the Austrian sample and for feelings of happiness in the Taiwanese sample. Information Technology (IT) acceptance research has shown that user acceptance is a critical factor for successful IT implementations. Therefore, the success of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is largely influenced by the acceptance levels of physicians and their intention to use the system in their daily work. In order to get a better understanding of factors affecting physicians’ acceptance of EHR systems, the effects of the determinants social influence, health IT (HIT) experience, and privacy concerns were investigated. The study presents results from a nationwide survey of Austrian general practitioners and specialists in private practices. To examine the extent to which the factors influence acceptance levels among Austrian physicians, the presented research uses a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach. The model was tested using structural equation modeling (SEM) and mediation analyses. According to the results, the presented model is a suitable instrument to explain physicians’ acceptance of EHR systems. As expected, social influence, HIT experience, and privacy concerns had a significant effect on the perceived usefulness of EHR systems, which in turn had an impact on a favorable attitude as well as the intention to use such a system.

In organizational psychology research, autonomy is generally seen as a job resource with a monotone positive relationship with desired occupational outcomes such as well-being. However, both Warr's vitamin model and person-environment (PE) fit theory suggest that negative outcomes may result from excesses of some job resources, including autonomy. Thus, the current studies used survey methodology to explore cross-sectional relationships between environmental autonomy, person-environment autonomy (mis)fit, and well-being. We found that autonomy and autonomy (mis)fit explained between 6% and 22% of variance in well-being, depending on type of autonomy (scheduling, method, or decision-making) and type of (mis)fit operationalization (atomistic operationalization through the separate assessment of actual and ideal autonomy levels vs. molecular operationalization through the direct assessment of perceived autonomy (mis)fit). Autonomy (mis)fit (PE-fit perspective) explained more unique variance in well-being than environmental autonomy itself (vitamin model perspective). Detrimental effects of autonomy excess on well-being were most evident for method autonomy and least consistent for decision-making autonomy. We argue that too-much-of-a-good-thing effects of job autonomy on well-being exist, but suggest that these may be dependent upon sample characteristics (range of autonomy levels), type of operationalization (molecular vs. atomistic fit), autonomy facet (method, scheduling, or decision-making), as well as individual and organizational moderators. In line with self-determination theory and Fredrickson's (2001) broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions, this study adopts a positive perspective on students' school experiences and their general psychological functioning. The reciprocal effects of positive school experiences and happiness, a dimension of affective well-being, are examined over the course of an academic year. Data were collected from 215 secondary school students at 5 measurement occasions. The results of longitudinal cross-lagged structural equation modeling support the notion of an upward spiral of positive school experiences and happiness over time. Positive school experiences had a stable lagged effect on happiness, and, in turn, happiness had a lagged effect on future positive school experiences.

The paper aims to illustrate how continuously recording performance in cognitive trainings conducted with people suffering from dementia helps to investigate long-term effects of these trainings.The recorded training performance of 5 people with dementia is analyzed over the time interval of 1.5 years.Cognitive functioning, indicated by training performance recordings, decreased significantly; the decrease was moderate, but less pronounced when the number of exercises was high.The results of the analyses correspond with the clients' MMSE-scores, and the changes in cognitive functioning are in line with those documented in the literature. In sum, the results provide support for the validity of the methodological procedure.ZIEL: Es wird untersucht, wie sich die kognitive Funktionsfähigkeit von Personen mit Demenzerkrankung, die an kognitiven Trainings teilnehmen, entwickelt.Die Trainingsaufzeichnungen von 5 Personen werden über 1,5 Jahre analysiert.Die kognitive Funktionsfähigkeit stimmt mit den MMST-Werten überein und nimmt insgesamt in mittlerer Stärke ab; der Abbau ist bei höherer Übungsanzahl geringer.Laufende Dokumentationen kognitiver Trainings können zur Erforschung der Rolle kognitiver Verfahren für die Therapie von Demenzerkrankungen genutzt werden.

This study examined the role of the latent and financial benefits of work as defined by Marie Jahoda (1982) in explaining a person's work involvement. Drawing upon theoretical frameworks on work commitment and work motivation, the latent benefits were expected to have a positive, whereas the financial benefits were expected to have a negative impact on work involvement. The results of longitudinal cross-lagged structural equation modeling using 4 waves of data from a sample of 260 employees provided strong support for the positive impact of the latent benefits on a person's work involvement. The negative effect of the financial benefits was not significant. The findings suggest that social institutions can contribute to a person's work involvement by the amount of access to the latent benefits they provide.

The authors examined the influence of parent-adolescent communication quality, as perceived by the adolescents, on the link between adolescents' Internet use and loneliness, controlling for perceived family support in general terms. Adolescents (N = 216, M(age) = 15.80 years) provided data on Internet use, loneliness, Internet-related parent-adolescent communication, and perceived family support. Moderated regression analyses showed that Internet-related communication quality determined whether more extensive Internet use was associated with more loneliness. This moderation effect remained significant when perceived family support in general terms was controlled for. Gender and age of the participants did not influence the findings. Implications for successful Internet-related parenting strategies are discussed.

This study investigates whether work involvement moderates the negative effect of job insecurity on general well-being, and whether reduced general well-being partially explains why job insecurity is associated with increased turnover intentions. The participants were 178 members (52% female) of an online panel who provided information about job insecurity, work involvement, two measures of general well-being (affective and cognitive), and turnover intentions on 2 occasions at an interval of 6 months. In line with expectations, work involvement buffered the negative effect of job insecurity on well-being; however, the buffering effect was significant only for the cross-sectional effect of job insecurity on cognitive well-being. Furthermore, multiple mediation analysis demonstrated that well-being partially mediated the effect of job insecurity on turnover intentions; interestingly, the cross-sectional effect of job insecurity on turnover intentions was partially mediated by cognitive well-being, whereas the longitudinal effect was partially mediated by affective well-being only. The results suggest that the stress process associated with job insecurity differs, depending on which aspect of general well-being and which time frame is investigated.

The high rates of training transfer failure that prevail still puzzle practitioners as well as researchers. The central aim of the present study is to analyze the relatively under-researched role of job dissatisfaction in the training transfer process. Specifically, we expect that job dissatisfaction would have a negative effect on transfer but that this effect would be buffered by the expectation of positive transfer consequences and motivation to transfer. To test these hypotheses, 220 participants in different training programs completed an online questionnaire 1 year after training. The results support our assumptions. They reveal that job dissatisfaction has a detrimental effect on training transfer, but that motivation to transfer and the expectation of positive transfer consequences have a buffering effect. The more motivated a person is towards transfer, the less negative is the effect of job dissatisfaction on actual transfer, but only if a person expects positive outcomes from transfer, such as acknowledgment or rewards. The findings are discussed in relation to existing training transfer models, as well as models of job (dis)satisfaction.

It is known that employment is important for psychological health. The present paper claims that the reasons why employed persons report better well-being than unemployed persons might also explain why those in some occupations report better well-being than others. Jahoda's latent deprivation theory (1982) was that employment provides a number of latent beneficial functions, which she identified as time structure, social contact, collective purpose, identity/status, and activity. We argue that this theory can be extended to account for differences in well-being between occupations with different levels of status. Data from two studies, one conducted on a representative German sample (n=565) and the other from a large-scale online study (n=826), largely support this argument. Physicians' acceptance of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems is a critical factor for a successful implementation. In an attempt to understand the factors influencing physicians' acceptance of EHR systems, the presented research examines the effects of social influence, health IT (HIT) experience, and privacy concerns using a modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The empirical study presents results from a survey of Austrian physicians in private practices. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and mediation analyses were used to analyze the data. The results indicate that the presented model is suitable to explain physicians' intention to use EHR systems. In line with expectations, privacy concerns, social influence, and HIT experience had a significant impact on the perceived usefulness of HIT, which in turn was related to positive attitudes towards EHRs as well as the intention to use them.
