Celem artykułu jest przedłożenie wskazówek metodologicznych do badań nad nowym narzędziem komunikowania i obdarowywania — donacjami internetowymi. Autorka skupia się na donacjach w kontekście kultury daru, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zmian wprowadzanych przez digitalizację. Przekonuje, że darowizny internetowe są źródłem cennych danych, które mogą być przydatne w wielu naukach. Jako bardzo specyficzna i stosunkowo nowa forma na rynku mediów darowizny nie są łatwym materiałem badawczym. Artykuł zawiera zarys metodologii badań nad donacjami, w tym charakterystykę wyzwań i problemów, z jakimi mogą mierzyć się badacze i badaczki. Przedstawione w tekście rozwiązania są wynikiem trzyletniej pracy autorki w zakresie gromadzenia i analizy donacji internetowych. The article proposes methodological guidelines for studies on a new tool in communication and gift-giving: online donations. It looks at donations in the context of gift culture, with particular emphasis on the changes introduced by digitisation. The author argues that online donations are a source of valuable data, which could prove useful for many sciences. As a very specific and relatively new form on the media market, donations are not an easy research material. An outline is provided of the methodology in studies on online donations, including challenges and problems that researchers may encounter. The solutions presented in the article are the result of the author’s three years of work in the field of collecting and analysing online donation data.

Livestreaming is an opportunity to participate in digital social life, both for streamers and their audience. This participation is associated with the possibility of spreading content considered as socially harmful. Although trash streams have been popular in Central Europe for several years, they are still not fully characterized. Previous studies define them rather operationally – for the needs of a given analysis. This study fills that gap. Based on long-term observation of trash streamers activity and review of the literature and press reports, the authors provide a comprehensive description of trash streams pointing to differences in nomenclature used in Poland and worldwide. The article also provides methodological guidelines for the analysis of trash streams. Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka obrazu weganizmu i wegetarianizmu wyłaniającego się z najpopularniejszych filmów podejmujących te zagadnienia, opublikowanych w polskiej wersji serwisu YouTube, a także wskazanie roli wyszukiwarki w kreowaniu tego obrazu. Analizie poddano wielogodzinny materiał wideo, na który składa się kilkadziesiąt filmów proponowanych przez serwis YouTube w wynikach wyszukiwania dla haseł "weganizm", "dieta wegańska", "wegetarianizm" oraz "dieta wegetariańska". The aim of the article is to characterize the image of veganism and vegetarianism emerging from the most popular videos dealing with these issues, published on the Polish version of YouTube, as well as to indicate the role of the search engine in creating this image. The analysis covered a multi-hour video material, which consists of several dozen films suggested by YouTube in the search results for the slogans "veganism", "vegan diet", "vegetarianism" and "vegetarian diet".

Live video streaming on YouTube – management of a hateful content The purpose of the article is to characterize current issues related to the occurrence of hate speech in live broadcasts on YouTube. Adding more tools to make the platform more attractive to users also gives new opportunities to spread hateful content. Platform policy must be constantly evolving, and subsequent regulations are widely commented on by both advertisers and users. For live broadcasts, real-time control requires automated solutions that are sometimes fallible.

The aim of the article is to systematize knowledge about YouTube within the frames of social communication and media sciences. The review of literature showed problems of a terminological nature. Researchers do not agree on how to define and what terms to use to describe YouTube. The site is sometimes classifi ed as a video sharing site or digital archive. Many authors making deeper divisions within social media do not classify this site as a social networking site, although - as demonstrated in this article - it has the vast majority of the constitutive features attributed to social networking sites in the scientific literature.

Artykuł nakreśla główne problemy związane z relacjami dźwięku i ciszy w cyberprzestrzeni. Opisywane fluktuacje wiążą się z fenomenami psychologicznymi, kulturą nadmiarowości oraz prawami rynku mediów. Szczególnie istotna jest tu kwestia dualizmu zmysłów - świat wirtualny poznać można wyłącznie za pomocą wzroku i słuchu. Próby przełożenia mechanizmów zarządzania muzyką na rzeczywistość cyfrową skazane są na porażkę, o ile nie zostanie uwzględniona specyfika cyberprzestrzeni. The article outlines the main problems related to the relationship of sound and silence in cyberspace. The fluctuations described relate to psychological phenomena, the culture of redundancy and the rights of the media market. The issue of dualism of the senses is especially important - the virtual world can only be known through sight and hearing. Attempts to copy music management mechanisms into digital reality are doomed to failure, unless the specificity of cyberspace is taken into account.

The aim of this chapter is to interpret the relations of a modern media user with the latest technology through the structures described in the “Monomyth” of Hero's Journey depicted by Joseph Campbell. Individual user behaviors are adjusted to phases of mythical hero's path. The author does not judge whether the source of this myth are the expectations and behaviors of users or the ways in which the media function. These considerations are based on the Jan Kreft's concept of the algorithm as an allegory of Demiurge – representing perfection of creativity, organizing and maintaining digital world. The myth of the heroic user, whether it is conscious or not, may play a significant role in modern media management.

CEL NAUKOWY: Artykuł poświęcony jest kształtowaniu obrazu nauczyciela w serwisie YouTube, w materiałach kierowanych do nastolatków, na przykładzie kanału WAKSY. Przyjęta perspektywa badawcza skupia się nie na tym, jak szkoła może wykorzystać media, lecz jak media wykorzystują temat szkoły, by trafić do młodych odbiorców. PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: W artykule poddano jakościowej analizie treści wszystkie filmy opublikowane na kanale WAKSY. Badanie pozwoliło na wykazanie zasadniczych stereotypów dotyczących nauczycieli. Wyniki analizy zostały skonfrontowane z komentarzami użytkowników serwisu. PROCES WYWODU: Niniejsze opracowanie zwraca uwagę na wszechobecność mediów w świecie współczesnych nastolatków. Serwisy społecznościowe, wykorzystywane dzisiaj jako źródło wiedzy o świecie, stanowią źródło postaw oraz tłumaczą zjawiska z życia społecznego. Mogą one, nawet w sposób dla odbiorcy nieuświadomiony, kształtować wizję otaczającego świata. WYNIKI ANALIZY NAUKOWEJ: Analiza naukowa wykazała siedem skrajnie negatywnych obrazów nauczyciela, które prezentowane są odbiorcom w materiałach filmowych na omawianym kanale. Dotyczą one kwestii bardzo ważnych w pracy dydaktycznej i wychowawczej, jednak wypaczają obraz nauczyciela i przedstawiają go jako wroga ucznia. WNIOSKI, INNOWACJE, REKOMENDACJE: Komentarze użytkowników YouTube’a sugerują, że uczniowie doszukują się w swoich szkołach potwierdzenia wizji nauczycieli prezentowanej na kanale WAKSY. Źródłem negatywnych zachowań uczniów może być przyjęty z mediów społecznościowych obraz nauczyciela jako wroga. Dla lepszego poznania zjawiska rekomendowane są dalsze badania, obejmujące również inne kanały i filmy o tematyce szkolnej.

Artykuł podejmuje tematykę muzeum jako miejsca wywołującego emocjonalne reakcje odbiorcy, ze wskazaniem na aspekty muzealnictwa, które mogą być przedmiotem intencjonalnego odniesienia emocji. Przedstawione zostaną najnowsze trendy architektoniczne oraz wystawiennicze w ich emocjonalnym aspekcie. Jednym z celów artykułu jest także zwrócenie uwagi na konieczność zachowania równowagi pomiędzy emocjonalnością a refleksyjnością w muzeach. The study is to show museum as a space which induces emotional reactions of the receiver, indicating those aspects of the museum, which can be the subject of intentional reference of emotions. They are briefly presented the latest trends in architecture and exhibition in their emotional aspect. One of the purposes of this article is to draw attention to the need for maintaining the balance between emotionality and reflexivity in museums.

Celem autorki artykułu jest charakterystyka, w kontekście kultury cyfrowej, zjawisk zachodzących w mediach interaktywnych: czarnego humoru oraz odwrażliwienia społecznego. Autorka zadaje pytanie, czy dominujące w mediach przedstawienia grozy i absurdu są wynikiem desensytyzacji, czy też pełnią funkcję kompensacyjną. Udzielenie jednoznacznej odpowiedzi byłoby diagnozą kondycji człowieka ponowoczesnego. Wydaje się jednak, że nauki o mediach nie dysponują narzędziami, które taką odpowiedź pozwolą uzyskać. The aim of the author of this article is to characterize phenomena occurring in interactive media: black humour and social desensitization, in the context of digital culture. The author asks the question of whether the awe and absurdities prevailing in the media are the result of desensitization or if they play a compensating function. Providing a definite answer would be a diagnosis of the postmodern human condition. It seems, however, that the media studies do not have tools to allow such an answer.

Rather than being used as an opposite to rationality, sensitivity is here perceived as a cognitive category and a quality that enables a better understanding of both one's own experiences and social reality. Subjected to psychologization and tyranny of intimacy, post-modern culture seems to have an ambivalent attitude to sensitivity. While understanding and empathy are highly desired values in the ever more individualized society, cultural exhibitionism leads to atrophy of sensitivity and escalation of narcissistic attitudes.

The development of intermedia has moved various cultural acts into cyberspace. In the digital world, flattened by the screens of electronic devices, previously known phenomena take a new form, which is forced by the limitations of the medium. Virtual cemeteries are online memorial sites, where users can communicate with each other and present their deceased loved ones, and also create e-tombstones of famous people. Digital cemeteries allow the individualization at the reception. In the article analogies between e-cemeteries and social networking sites are presented. Simultaneously, given the immense popularity of the latter, this work is an attempt to answer the question of whether virtual cemeteries draw from the experience of social media.

Artykuł podejmuje zagadnienie metodologii badań internetowych w kulturze dystrakcji i informacyjnej nadpodaży. Współczesna socjologia Internetu mierzy się nie tylko z niekontrolowanym przyrostem danych, ale również z ich zmiennością, która zachodzi w czasie rzeczywistym. W pracy omówiono zjawisko badania komentarzy internetowych, w przypadku których analiza fluktuacji danych daje informacje na temat mechanizmów komunikowania w cyberprzestrzeni. Jednocześnie podniesione zostały etyczne dylematy wykorzystania tego materiału badawczego. The article deals with the issue of Internet research methodology in the culture of distraction and informational oversupply. Contemporary internet sociology is facing not only the uncontrolled data growth, but also their variability, which takes place in real time. The work discusses the phenomenon of the analysis of online comments, where the analysis of data fluctuation gives information on the mechanisms of communication in cyberspace. At the same time, the ethical dilemmas of using this research material have been raised.
