Objective: Aim: To analyse laboratory and biochemical features of the severe persistent course of asthma in patients with undifferentiated connective tissue dysplasia (UCTD) syndrome, and their phenotypic and visceral stigmas of dysembryogenesis., Patients and Methods: Materials and Methods: We enrolled 60 male patients with asthma, aged from 23 to 62 years (mean age (46.83 ±0.85) years): 30 patients with the background of UCTD, and 30 - without UCTD. We analysed clinical, somatometric, surveying (original questionnaire based on the phenotypic map of Glesby), instrumental (spirography, echocardiography, endoscopy, esophagofibrogastroduodenoscopy) and laboratory (including eosinophilic granulocytes and aldosterone levels) data., Results: Results: Correlations were found in men with UCTD between the number of UCTD markers and rate of earlobe diagonal fold (r=+0.75; р<0.05), asthenic constitution (r=+0.72; р<0.05), easy bruising (r=+0.7; p<0.05) and straight abdominal line hernia (r=+0.52; p<0.05). Average aldosterone serum level in patients with UCTD (176,10 ±11,22) was significantly higher than in those without UCTD (142,77 ±9,43), (p<0.05), as well as average eosinophils levels (1.3 ±0.25 vs. 0.57 ±0.12, p<0.05). In the absolute majority of patients with UCTD (93.3%) asthma onset was confirmed after pneumonia, and their age of asthma manifestation was significantly higher (37.2 ±1.21) than in patients without UCTD (21.4 ±1.13). Also, in patients with UCTD there was a high number of severe exacerbations during the last year (2.7 ±0.12 per year) on the background of high doses of combined inhaled glucocorticosteroids use., Conclusion: Conclusions: Identified "phenotypic profile", clinical and biochemical features of patients with asthma on the background of UCTD syndrome, which determine the severe course and early formation of asthma complications, will further accelerate the diagnosis of this asthma phenotype and improve approaches to the selection of treatment regimens for these patients.

The objective of our study was to interpret and discuss atypical multiple myeloma case. The article describes the case of clinical observation of a patient K, in which manifestations of chronic kidney disease and circulatory failure prevailed in clinical picture of the disease. The authors recommended an X-ray examination of skull and pelvic bones as a screening method suitable for elderly people with symptoms of chronic renal insufficiency and chronic bone and muscle pain resistant to treatment.

Objective: Introduction: According to present knowledge, hyperhomocysteinemia is one of the risk factors of cardio-vascular pathology. Patients with chronic kidney disease are known to develop hyperhomocysteinemia more often than those in general population. Іmportant cause of hyperhomocysteinemia is the deficiency of vitamins В6, В9 and В12 that are involved in homocysteine metabolism. Vitamins deficiency, we believe, can be one of the causes of hyperhomocysteinemia in the patients with chronic renal failure. The aim: To analyze the plasma homocysteine level in patients with chronic kidney disease and its assosiation with the levels of vitamins B6, B9, B12 in Ukraine., Patients and Methods: Materials and methods: The study involved 148 persons with different stagesis of chronic kidney disease who underwent immunoenzyme determination of total plasma homocysteine, B9, cobalamin and vitamin В6 status., Results: Results: It was found that in ukrainian patient population with chronic kidney disease 58.7% of patients have hyperhomocysteinemia. Homocysteine level was shown to increase with the increase of chronic kidney disease stage. Supply of vitamins В6, В9 та В12 in the patients with chronic kidney disease was lower than in apparently healthy persons, but there was significant decrease of folic acid level proportionally to the increase of chronic kidney disease stage. There was close relationship between homocysteine level and folic acid status in the patients with chronic kidney disease, but it appeared to be independent on cobalamin and pyridoxin status., Conclusion: Conclusions: The obtained data are promising for finding effective means of correction of hyperhomocysteinemia in patients with chronic kidney disease by normalizing the vitamin status of such patients.

Background: In the recent years, the ever increasing tendency toward the growth in the prevalence of degenerative-dystrophic articular diseases has been observed especially among the young subjects and the middle-aged people. The enhanced economic burden of treating the patients with this condition on the public health care system frequently comes not only from chronic pathology of the joints but also from the development of concomitant disorders which dictates the necessity of the search for the new methods for the management of such patients., Aim: The objective of the present study was the optimization of the treatment of the patients presenting with stage I-II gonarthrosis by the para-articular application of oxygen/ozone therapy at the early stages of knee arthritis and the evaluation of the clinical effectiveness of this approach., Material and Methods: A total of 89 patients suffering from I-II sg gonarthrosis were recruited for the participation in the study. They included 67.2% of men and 32.8% of women. The age of the patients varied from 33 to 54 (mean 42±5) years, the duration of the disease averaged 4±1.2 years. All the patients were randomly divided into two groups: matched for the age, gender, the duration and severity of the disease, and the methods of its treatment. The main group was comprised of 45 patients whereas the group of comparison consisted of 44 patients. The generally accepted therapeutic modalities were used to treat the patients of both groups. Those included in the main group (n=45) additionally received para-articular oxygen/ozone therapy applied to the affected knee at a permanent ozone concentration of 8 gr/l (the injection area 15-20 sq.cm), main group n=45). The results of the treatment were evaluated within 1 and 6 months after the onset of therapy., Results: The application of the up-to-date methods of oxygen/ozone therapy in the combination with the universally-accepted drug-based treatments for the patients of the main group resulted in the significant (p<0.01) improvement of the indicators of the biomechanical activity of the knee joints in comparison with that achieved by means of the generic drug-based treatment alone., Discussion: The results of the present study give evidence of the feasibility of application of oxygen/ozone therapy for the treatment of degenerative-dystrophic articular diseases of the knees. The positive dynamics of the indicators of the functional activity of the knee joints, intensity and duration of the pain syndrome as well as the reduction of the period of the temporary incapacity for work associated with exacerbation of knee arthrosis suggests the high clinical and economic effectiveness of the para-articular application of oxygen/ozone therapy., Conclusions: The present study has demonstrated the expediency and effectiveness of the application of oxygen/ozone therapy during exacerbation of stage І-ІІ knee arthritis as evaluated based on the WOMAC index, VAS, and Lyshom scale within one and six months after the onset of the treatment. The resulting reduction in the number of days of temporary incapacity for work in the patients suffering from knee arthritis gives evidence of the clinical and economic validity of the proposed method of the combined treatment of this condition based on the application of oxygen/ozone therapy.

An examination of 150 patients suffering from pathological gambling (PG) has shown that a PG predisposition includes 3 components: personal, morphofunctional and gender. The personal component is a combination of lability and hyperthymia, higher extraversion, easy communication, riskiness, low empathic ability, inclination to emotional satiation. The morphofunctional component embraces structural (a pathology of cortical and subcortical areas, localized mainly in the frontal region and limbic structure of brain) and functional (abnormalities of regulatory processes, signs of cerebral immaturity) peculiarities of the central nervous system. The gender component is reflected in the notable predominance of males, weak and medium-weak sexual constitution, psychosexual development peculiarities manifested as a reduced romantic stage. This complex predisposition, though non-fatal, raises the risk of the disorder.

The principal idea of the method of surgery is the division of patients into two groups: a group of patients with a stable process and a group of patients with the disease in the stage of non-cupped exacerbation. When using any surgical interventions one should follow the principle of maximum preservation of the functioning lung tissue, the surgery being performed in the size of destructive changes in the lungs. In a unilateral cavernous injury resection of the lung or pneumonectomy was the main method of surgery. In the treatment of patients with bilateral caverns the main line of the surgical tactics is the planned bilateral surgical treatment, individual selection of the optimal combination of different operations, division of the surgical treatment into steps and choice of their sequence.
