Mestrado em Engenharia Física Neste trabalho é, inicialmente, apresentada uma breve revisão do estado da arte sobre as características físicas do material em estudo (TiO2) bem como da estrutura pretendida (opala inversa). Em seguida é apresentado as abordagens que foram realizadas para obter essa estrutura e as técnicas utilizadas para a sua caracterização estrutural e morfológica. Os filmes foram caracterizados por difração de raios-X, espectroscopia de Raman, microscopia ótica e eletrónica de varrimento. Conclui-se que para obter uma estrutura opala inversa o melhor procedimento deverá ser numa primeira fase a deposição das esferas de poliestireno, numa segunda fase a impregnação do TiO2 seguido de um tratamento térmico superior a 250 ºC com uma rampa de aquecimento inferior a 5 ºC/min. In this work, initially, a description of the state of the art of the study material (TiO2) and inverse opal structures is showed, along with the usual methods in the production of this kind of structures. After, the preparation method and the results of the structural measurements are presented. The samples were characterized by X rays diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, optical microscopy and scanning electronic microscopy. The results show that to obtain the inverse opal structure it is preferred to deposit initially the polystyrene spheres and then the TiO2 precursor followed by a heat treatment above 250 ºC with an increase of the temperature less than 5 ºC/min
