Collection consists of correspondence and other items of Sidney Edgerton and members of his family. Collection contains letters (1863-1887) written by Sidney Edgerton, Montana's territorial governor, his wife, and other family members concerning their wagon trip across the plains in 1863; frontier life in Bannack, Mont., including the vigilante movement; and early political developments. There is also a scrapbook of biographical clippings. Family members represented include Mary Wright Edgerton, Martha Edgerton Plassmann, and Wilbur Fisk Sanders.
