The article discusses the use of Union Pass in the Rocky Mountain region of Wyoming by trappers and fur traders. The geography of the Union Pass area is detailed as an attempt to locate the pass on a map. The use of Union Pass by beaver trapping expeditions led by such U.S. fur trappers as Manuel Lisa, John Colter, and Wilson Price Hunt is detailed. The author provides a detailed description of the pass through contemporary accounts of its use by fur trappers such as Captain Benjamin Bonneville.
