3. Measuring Global Scientific Research On COVID-19: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

The COVID-19, become the critical health issues globally since its outbreak in China in December 2019, since, then the global research has spiked on this topic. The objective of the present study is to know the publications on COVID-19 by conducting a bibliometric analysis using available data on the Scopus database. The Selected documents related to COVID-19 extracted on 26th April 2020 from Scopus. The following analysis parameters used for this study are the pattern of authorship, international collaboration, document types, languages, published sources, affiliations, country-wise contributions, and citations. The present study analysed 3693 publications were available as on 26th April 2020 on Scopus from 116 countries. The highest number documents 51.16% published as articles, and the majority of them (94.40 %) are available in English. China has topped the list with 1053 (28.51%) publications with 5831 citations, while the USA (299) has the highest number of international collaboration. This study also found that Mahase, E. from the UK is the most prolific author with 31 publications, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China topes the affiliation list with 131, while BMJ Clinical Research Ed published the highest (125) articles.

4. Measuring Research Contributions of Prof. Anurag Kumar: A Scientometric Analysis

Abstract

The present study aims to measure the contributions of Prof. Anurag Kumar, who served as the Director at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru between August 2014 to July 2020. He has contributed 181 publications during his 36 years of career. He has published his majority of publications 171 (94.48%) in collaboration; most active collaborators with Prof. Anurag Kumar are Altman E. with (17) publications, Kuri Joy (15), Anand (14), and Singh (12). His highest Collaboration Coefficient found is 0.73 in 2013, and the highest Modified Collaboration Coefficient is 1.33 in the year 2018. The highest degree of collaboration observed for Prof. Anurag Kumar was 1.00. The highest Collaborative Index of Prof. Anurag found is 4.75 in the year 2016. His publications received 2595 citations so far, with 14.3 citations for each publication and an average citation of 72.08 per year. He has produced most of his publications in the field of computer science (45.9%). He preferred conference papers as his communication channel, where he published 100 (55.24%) papers out of 181. Prof. Anurag Kumar has contributed the highest (62) publication between 2005-2010, and he has published his first publication at the age of 30.

Abstract

Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is the infectious disease caused by the Coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The World Health Organization learned of this new virus from the Wuhan city cases in China on December 31st, 2019. COVID-19 is a major health concern worldwide due to its quick widespread around the globe. This bibliometric study evaluated the published scientific literature to assess the evolution of knowledge on COVID-19, identify the leading research stakeholders, and analyze the conceptual areas of knowledge development in this domain. Bibliometric data on COVID-19 related literature published until August 2020 were retrieved from the Web of Science Citation Database. Major areas identified through evaluating keywords and text data including Coauthorship networks of authors, geographically collaboration of organizations and countries co-authorship networks, Bibliographic coupling of sources associated with COVID-19. The Current Status of COVID-19 research shows early development in different areas of knowledge. Global research collaboration should be at a high pace and be encouraged to strengthen evidence-based decisions to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic and aftermath. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This paper discuss the awareness and use of institutional repositories by the academicians of the selected institutions in Maharashtra based on the questionnaire response received from 584 academicians and it comprises a total response rate of 12.67% of the total population of 4611. Outcomes of the study show that majority of the users are from Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Pure Science discipline prefer to publish their research in open access journals and self-archive in institutional repositories. Also found that majority of the users prefer to use Journal articles,Research papers, Theses and Dissertation and conference proceedings and a considerable percentage of users with mean value 3.88 and standard deviation 1.953 were not self-archiving in IR due to lack of knowledge about the submission process . The study recommends promotion of self-archiving by conducting seminars, workshops, and tutorials for the academicians.

Abstract

The paper examines the citations as well as altmetrics attention score of five Library and Information Science journals indexed by Google Scholar Metrics 2019. The study results revealed that JAIS&T journal got 1st position with h5-Index. it was also found that mostly used altmetrics source in LIS research was Mendeley (1998), followed by Twitter (113) and Blog (6) respectively. The highest altmetrics presence was seen in this study “Bibliometrix: An R-tool for Comprehensive Science Mapping Analysis” article with (50) Altmetrics Attention Score.
