Several concerns that have been mentioned by families due to various reasons could affect vaccination acceptance. Objectives This study aims to investigate pregnant women&apos;s attitudes toward childhood vaccinations and trust in health services. Methods This study was designed as a descriptive study. It was conducted in a city located in the eastern part of Turkey between March and May 2019. The sample was 193 volunteer pregnant women. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Form, the Multidimensional Trust in Health-care System Scale, and the Public Attitude toward Vaccination Scale - Health Belief Model. Results A positive, statistically significant relationship was found between the Multidimensional Trust in Healthcare System Scale total mean score and Perceived Susceptibility, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefits, and Health Responsibility (p < .01). In addition, education and income level, having social security, having had a vaccination or not, and knowing vaccines affected trusts in health services; having social security, having had vaccinations or not, and knowing vaccines affected health beliefs about vaccinations (p < 0.05). Conclusions for Practice This study found that knowing vaccines affects both trust in health services and health beliefs about vaccination. Therefore, community health nurses working in primary care should provide parents with accurate and effective information about vaccinations.

Background: The most effective approach to food allergy management is to avoid consuming the specific allergens that trigger an allergic reaction. It is crucial to make school environments prepared for the potential of food allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, which is a rare but documented outcome. The high prevalence of anaphylactic reactions in children makes food allergy and anaphylaxis management important topics in schools. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effects of food allergy and anaphylaxis management education on teachers' food allergy and anaphylaxis management self-efficacy and level of knowledge in Türkiye. Methods: This study used a random experimental design with a pre-test and post-test group. The study was conducted with 84 teachers who worked in kindergartens (school year prior to starting Grade 1) and primary schools in a city centre in eastern Turkey between September 2022 and January 2023. Data were collected through a socio-demographic form and the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Self-Efficacy Scale for School Personnel. Data analysis was performed using t-tests for independent groups, Chi-square tests and McNamara analyses. Results: The average age of the teachers was 31.08 ± 6.70 years, and the average years of experience in the profession was 6.68 ± 6.99 years. All the teachers wanted to learn about food allergy and anaphylaxis management, 59.5% did not know whether their schools had an emergency action plan for food allergy and anaphylaxis, 63.1% reported not having the necessary emergency treatment medicine for anaphylaxis in their school and 57.1% reported having no educated school personnel to administer the first intervention in case of a serious allergic reaction at school. While the mean scale score of the experimental group was 25.88 ± 7.26 before the training, it was 30.78 ± 6.98 after the training. While no differences were detected between the experimental and control groups' pre-test scale mean scores, the experimental group's post-test scale mean score was found to be statistically significantly higher (d = 0.79, p <.05). The results also indicate that the rates of providing correct responses to questions regarding what the most common symptom in a student with a food allergy is, and what the first intervention should be when a serious reaction develops in a student, increased significantly level. To investigate the relationship between fall risks and maintaining activities of daily living in individuals aged 65 and over.

This study aims to investigate the nutrition literacy levels of mothers with children aged five and below and the body mass index of their children (BMI). This descriptive study was carried out in a city located in eastern Turkey between June and August 2021. The sample was composed of 235 women who were calculated using the sampling method with an unknown target population, and participants were included in the sample using the convenience sampling method. Data collection tools were the Socio-demographic Form and Evaluation Instrument of Nutrition Literacy in Adults. Data were analyzed in SPSS, using descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov Smirnov test, Mann Whitney U-test, and Kruskal Wallis test. While 92 percent of participating mothers had a sufficient level of nutrition literacy, 46 percent of children had normal BMI. The Evaluation Instrument of Nutrition Literacy on Adults mean score was higher in those who had a high socio-economic level, had a disease that required regular medicine use, reported having sufficient knowledge about nutrition, and accept health workers as a reliable source of information (p <.05). This study found that nutrition literacy was affected by variables such as socio-economic level, knowledge about nutrition, and the sources of information chosen. Purpose: This study aims to identify the relationship between nicotine dependence levels and cessation fatigue. Design and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in a city located in the eastern part of Turkey between December 2019 and March 2020. The sample consisted of 107 students who met the research criteria. Data were collected using the sociodemographic form, the Fagerstrom test for nicotine dependence test, and the cessation fatigue scale (CFS). Findings: The CFS mean score was found to be significantly higher in women and in those who had high and very high nicotine dependence levels (p < 0.05). A positive and statistically significant relationship was found between cessation fatigue and nicotine dependence (p < 0.001). In addition, relationships were also found between cessation fatigue and variables, such as age, age of starting to smoke regularly, age of trying smoking for the first time, and the number of cigarettes smoked daily (p < 0.05). Practice Implications: This study detected a relationship between smoking cessation fatigue, and nicotine dependence. Studies have revealed that nursing practices on the struggle against smoking are effective. A better understanding of these processes could support nursing practices development. Background: This study, which is descriptive and relational screening in nature, aims to investigate the relationship between e-health literacy and individual innovation in university students enrolled in health-related departments. Methods: The study was conducted with the participation of 227 people who accepted to participate in the study and who were enrolled in health-related departments. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Form, E-health Literacy Scale, and Individual Innovation Scale. Results: Students' e-health literacy was found to be at moderate level. Additionally, categorization of the participants according to their Individual Innovativeness Scale scores showed that 55.9% were laggards. Moreover, there was a negative relationship between E-Health Literacy Scale and Individual Innovativeness Scale mean scores and positive, significant relationship between age (p<0.05, p<0.01) Conclusion: According to the Individual Innovation Scale, no students were found to be in the innovative group. Objectives: This study aims to identify obesity and risk factors in women aged between 18 and 64. Methodology: The present study has a descriptive and relational model. It was conducted with the participation of 1822 volunteer women in a city located in the Eastern part of Turkey between October and November, 2016. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Form, and weight and height measurements. Results: Of all the women participating in the study, 10.9% were obese, and 71.7 % of the obese women had first degree obesity. A significant relationship was found between Body Mass Index (BMI) and age, number of deliveries, education level, husband's education level, age of menarche, and age of first delivery (p<0.01, p<0.001). Conclusions: Obesity, which has been increasing rapidly in the world and in our country, is associated with several risk factors. It is recommended that studies should be conducted in order to identify the risk factors underlying obesity and manage these risk factors. The purpose of this methodological study was to develop a measure to be used for the evaluation of health professionals' knowledge and attitudes about catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) control precautions. Results indicated the total score of the scale, and correlation values ranged between 0.479 and 0.748. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value was found to be .886, which indicates the adequacy of the sample, and Barlett's test results indicated correlation between the items (p < .01). Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was found to be .75. The developed CAUTI Control Precautions Scale was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool that could be used in assessing health professionals' knowledge and attitudes toward CAUTI control precautions. Objectives: This study aims to identify to alexithymia in adolescents, the affecting factors and the relationship with tendency to violence. Methodology: This descriptive study utilised a relational model. It was conducted with the participation of 1938 volunteer students in a city located in the Eastern part of Turkey between June and July, 2017. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Form, Tendency to Violence Scale and Alexithymia Questionnaire for Children. Results: Adolescents' Alexithymia Questionnaire for Children mean score was found to be higher in those whose family had less monthly income than expenses; in those who were exposed to violence at school, in family, and out of family/school; and in those who experienced a very sad event during childhood. A positive, significant relationship was found between tendency to violence and alexithymia (p<0.001). Conclusions: Adolescents who have been identified to have alexithymic features could be provided with therapy and training programs which help them to increase positive interpersonal communication, increase sense of self, and express their anger in a positive way. Objectives: This study aims to identify tendency to violence in adolescents and the affecting factors. Methodology: This study is descriptive in nature. It was conducted with the participation of 1938 students in a city located in the Eastern part of Turkey between September and October, 2017. Data were collected using the Socio-demographic Form and Tendency to Violence Scale. Results: Tendency to Violence Scale total mean score of the adolescents participating in the study was significantly higher in males, in whose monthly income was higher than expenses, in those who witnessed or were exposed to violence in family, at school, and out of family/school environments, and in those who were exposed to violence (p<0.01). Conclusions: It is recommended that one should avoid demonstrating oppressive and authoritative attitudes towards adolescents, parents/teachers should avoid committing violence and demonstrate attitudes that help adolescents to express themselves comfortably. Besides, tendency to violence could be decreased through education programs that help adolescents learn effective problem solving skills without resorting to violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify and compare the effects of smoking cessation trainings based on Transtheoretical Model and Health Belief Model on nurses' smoking cessation. Methodology: Among the 214 smoking nurses who worked in Research Hospital and Region Education Hospital, this study was conducted with a total number of 96 volunteer nurses- 29 nurses from Region Education Hospital and 67 nurses from Research Hospital. Results: After the training, 15% of the nurses in the HBM group passed to the action stage, and 7% of those in the TTM group passed to the action stage and 11.6% to the maintenance stage. This progress in the stages of change was found to be statistically significant. No significant differences were detected between the groups in terms of their scale mean scores. Negative attitudes about smoking mean score belonging to the HBM group was significantly higher than that of the TTM group. Conclusions: HBM and TTM-based trainings were found to have positive effects both on progressive actions and cigarette cessation for 6 months or more. Objectives: This study aims to assess the effect of knowing the diagnosis or not on hopelessness level in patients who receive cancer treatment. Methodology: This study is descriptive and comparative in nature. Target population of the study is the patients who applied to the Research Hospital in 2010 and were diagnosed with cancer. Participants included patients who applied to Medical Oncology and Chemotherapy Polyclinic between September and December, who were over 18, who could communicate, and who volunteered to participate in the study. Results: Beck Hopelessness Scale mean score was found 3.93 ± 3.89. An analysis of patients’ Beck Hopelessness Scale mean scores were statistically higher in women, in those who do not have a job bringing income, who do not have social security, who are illiterate, and who have monthly income of 870 TL and less, also who did not believe in coping with the disease (p<0.05, p<0.01). Conclusions: The present study found that the participants did not have feelings of hopelessness, and knowing or not knowing the diagnosis did not affect hope levels. Female patients and patients who had low education and income level were found to be more hopeless. More effort should be made in order to increase hope levels among cancer patients in socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The literature shows us the nursing students can improve this ability in undergraduate clinical education and they should learn how to think critically for giving better care. Objective: This study identifies the relationship between disposition toward critical thinking and caring behaviour of nursing students. Methodology: This cross-sectional study used a convenience sample that comprised 167 undergraduate nursing students enrolled in a four-year nursing course in Eastern Turkey. The data was obtained through a socio-demographic characteristics form, the Caring Nurse–Patient Interaction Scale (CNPI-Long Scale) and the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI). Results: We determined that there was a positive relationship between overall critical thinking dispositions and caring behaviours (r = 0.470, p < 0.01). The simple linear regression analysis result was analysed and it was observed that 22% of the Caring Nurse Patient Interactions were predicted by critical thinking disposition (R2 = 0.221, p < 0.01). Conclusions: The findings indicate that caring behaviours relate to critical thinking disposition.We suggest critical thinking which promote the development of the intellectual capacities of student nurses as independent critical thinkers so that critical thinking should be in all nursing curriculum. Breast cancer and cervical cancer are important causes of cancer‐related mortality in women all over the world. The present study was conducted in order to investigate the distribution of cervical and breast cancer risk factors in women and their knowledge and behaviours about cancer screening methods. The study is cross‐sectional in nature. It was conducted with the participation of 1,886 women in Turkey. Data were collected through a questionnaire. The knowledge and behaviours of women aged 40 and over about breast cancer or cervical cancer screening methods were investigated according to the education level; results showed that the rates of those who knew and did breast self‐examination were significantly lower in illiterate women. Besides, the rates of women who did breast self‐examination were significantly lower in those who were aged 40 and over, and the rates of those who had clinical breast examination and Pap smear test were significantly lower in women aged 39 and below (p < 0.01). This study identified the most notable breast and cervical cancer risk factors as low education levels, high number of deliveries, short breastfeeding period, obesity and low socio‐economic level.
