Aim: The present in vitro study was designed to determine the effect of different access cavity designs on intracoronal bleaching of endodontically treated teeth with two different agents. Materials and Methods: Fifty selected permanent maxillary central incisors were stained. Traditional and contracted access cavity designs and two types of bleaching agents, i.e., 35% carbamide peroxide and 35 percent hydrogen peroxide were used for the study. Color measurements were performed with a spectrophotometer: before staining (T1), after staining (T2), at 7 and 14 days (T3 and T4) post bleaching. The values were calculated and subjected to the statistical analysis. Results: The results of our study showed that teeth in which traditional access cavity (TAC) was prepared had statistically significant better bleaching results with both 35% carbamide peroxide and 35% hydrogen peroxide than contracted access cavity design. Carbamide peroxide showed better results than hydrogen peroxide irrespective of the access cavity design, but difference was statistically nonsignificant. Conclusion: The present study concluded that TAC design showed better results than contracted access with both carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide. Whereas, when bleaching agents were compared 35% carbamide peroxide is better than 35% hydrogen peroxide irrespective of access cavity design used. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the fracture resistance of inlay preparations restored with indirect lab composite, conventional and translucent monolithic zirconia-based ceramics. Materials and Methods: Fifty freshly extracted human maxillary premolars were selected for the study. Standardized inlay cavities were prepared and restored with indirect lab composite, conventional monolithic zirconia-based ceramic and translucent monolithic zirconia-based ceramic. After restoration each sample was subjected to axial compressive load with Universal testing machine. The force required to induce fracture was recorded in Newton (N). Statistical Analysis Used: The data were analyzed using the one-way ANOVA test and Post hoc Bonferroni multiple comparison test. Results: Results revealed that fracture resistance of prepared inlay cavities restored with conventional monolithic zirconia-based ceramics was found to be best followed by other groups. Group I > Group IV > Group V > Group III > Group II. Conclusion: The fracture resistance of conventional monolithic zirconia-based ceramic inlays and translucent monolithic zirconia-based ceramic inlays were comparable with intact teeth but, indirect lab composite inlays showed lower fracture resistance than all. The main objective of root canal treatment is to relieve pain, disinfect root canal and prevent reinfection. To achieve clean, disinfected and 3- dimensionally obturated root canals, clear knowledge of root morphology and canal anatomy is essential. Awareness and understanding of the presence of unusual external and internal root canal morphology contributes to successful outcome of the root canal treatment. Maxillary second molars show considerable anatomic variation and abnormalities with respect to the number of roots and root canals. Undetected extra roots or root canals are a major reason for failure of root canal treatment. Presence of a second canal in mesiobuccal root (MB2) of maxillary molars is well documented in the literature. Various studies have shown that occurrence of MB2 root canal is found to be more in maxillary first molars than maxillary second molars. Accurate radiographic technique and proper interpretation are essential for sound diagnosis and treatment. The use of preoperative radiographs at di?erent angles helps to detect and evaluate root canal morphology and anatomy. CBCT is a method of choice to visualize extra number of roots and root canals. The importance of tooth whitening for patients has shown a dramatic increase in the number of products and procedures over recent years. Vital tooth bleaching refers to chair-side clinical application of a chemical solution to a tooth surface in order to achieve whitening effect of the teeth. Vital bleaching has found to be very effective but it also has its drawbacks. The current article gives knowledge of vital tooth whitening with respect to external bleaching methods. The future of teeth with calcified canals appears much brighter today than ever before due to the advancements in diagnostic aids and instrumentation techniques Use of liquid EDTA may aid in locating the orifice. Always advance instruments slowly in calcified canals When a fine instrument has reached the approximate canal length, do not remove it; rather, obtain a radiograph to ascertain the position of the file. Use ultrasonic instruments in the pulp chamber to loosen debris in the canal orifices. The use of newer nickel titanium rotary orifice - penetrating instruments should be considered.
