A flexible scintillator screen of Rb2CuBr3@polymer has been developed for X-ray imaging with good quality, exhibiting a high spatial resolution of 27.9 lp mm−1 and a low detection limit of 63 nGyair s−1.

Inorganic halide perovskites (IHPs) have received substantial attention due to their unique optoelectronic properties. Among all the intriguing performance, the efficient luminescence of IHPs enables the practical application of white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) for lighting. During the last decade, IHP-based white lighting sources with a high luminesce and a broad color gamut have been developed as strong competitors to conventional and classic WLEDs based on rare-earth phosphors and blue LED chips. Thus, it inspires us to give an overview of the emerging progress of IHP WLEDs that can function as lighting sources. Here, in this review, the generation of luminescent properties and white light in IHPs are first presented. Then, both photoluminescence and electroluminescence WLEDs with IHPs emitters, including both lead-based and lead-free IHPs, are synthetically discussed to exhibit their advantages. Furthermore, the efforts on the optical performance enhancement of IHPs in WLEDs are demonstrated and summarized. Apart from WLEDs, visible light communication based on IHPs featuring efficient luminescence is proposed to highlight their promising potential in lighting communication. Finally, some perspectives on the evolution and challenges are described, followed by an inspirational outlook on their future development.

Summary High-performance white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) are regarded as a promising next-generation solid-state light source. However, a low-color-rendering index (CRI), consumption of rare-earth elements, and inevitable self-absorption remain the major challenges for high-performance WLEDs. Here, lead-doped Cs3Cu2Br5 nanocrystals (NCs) with a zero-dimensional structure are prepared to facilitate stable and intrinsic white-light emission (IWE) without phosphors and other compositions. The lead dopants are expected to be centers of isolated [PbBr6] octahedrons, in which self-trapped excitons originating from distorted octahedra can form. Subsequently, a broadband blue photoluminescence (PL) from the Cs3Cu2Br5 and a broadband red PL from the lead doping are observed, exhibiting intrinsic white-light emission overall. The doped Cs3Cu2Br5 NCs are then employed to fabricate WLEDs, which possess a high CRI of 98 and an excellent 200-h operating stability.

Color-tunable white organic light-emitting diodes (CT-WOLEDs) having daylight chromaticity and a wide correlated color temperature (CCT) span can mimic our circadian cycle and realize application for lighting or decoration. The effects of the recombination zone and energy distribution on the electro-optical properties and color span are investigated in this paper. We find that it is beneficial to expand the CCT span by increasing the distance between the red ultrathin phosphorescent emissive layer and the center of the recombination zone. By increasing the concentration (y) of mCP in mixed host material in the emitting layer and the thickness (z nm) of the red ultrathin phosphorescent emissive layer, the CCT spans can be expanded towards high CCT and low CCT, respectively. The widest CCT span reaches 4032 K (2391–6423 K) in a simple all-phosphorescent CT-WOLED with a maximum luminance and power efficiency of 9249 cd m−2 and 15.35 lm W−1, respectively.
