The aim of the study is improvement of productive and reproductive indices of Holstein animals used in the Russian Federation due to their genomic evaluation using European criteria for this breed. The material for the research was repair heifers in the amount of 20 heads belonging to JSC “Niva” of the Stavropol region of Samara region. The genomic estimation of heifers was carried out in France in order to reveal the degree of the forecast’ reliability of productive, reproductive qualities of heifers. The material for genomic evaluation was taken from the animal’s auricle by puncture. The genomic evaluation revealed that not all heifers correspond to the expected characteristics of their parents’ phenotypic features. The fat and protein content of the milk was positive for all heifers, while the milk content of 7 heifers was negatively correlated. According to the results of genomic evaluation, 3 heifers are classified as excellent, 3 as moderate and 4 as weak heifers. The conducted researches on genomic evaluation of heifers in “Niva” JSC indicate the prospects of its use in selection and breeding work, as further accelerated increase in the efficiency of dairy cattle breeding without the use of progressive methods of evaluation of repair young animals will not allow to increase the productive, native and qualitative parameters of dairy productivity of cows in a short period of time. At present 17 out of 20 genome-appraised heifers have confirmed the results of the conducted researches.

The purpose of the research is to determine the etiopathogenesis of reproductive dysfunction in highly productive cows. For this, one group of cows was formed on the principle of paranalogs in the amount of 37 animals inseminated in the first sexual hunt after calving, followed by taking blood samples from them using the Monovet system, considering the duration of pregnancy. During the start-up period, blood was taken 1–4 days before calving and on the first day after calving. A total of 253 blood samples were examined. Subsequently, depending on the effectiveness of insemination, animals were divided into two groups. The first group included inseminated cows after the first insemination (20 animals), the second group included 17 unfertilized cows after the first insemination. Subsequently, blood was taken from animals considering the course of childbirth and the postpartum period. Blood counts were studied according to generally accepted methods using certified equipment. The study found that at an early stage of pregnancy, cows have a significant difference in lipid metabolism and in their peroxidation, in the state of antioxidant systems compared to unstable animals. In the process of pregnancy development in cows, there is a decrease in the level of total lipids and their class, and the accumulation of products of transoxidation of lipids is reduced. In animals with retention of the placenta, a low lipid metabolism and a higher level of peroxidation were established already in the dry period. After calving, this difference increases. The obtained data can be used to develop an algorithm for the prevention of postpartum complications in cows by using substances with antioxidant properties.

The aim of the study is to determine the effect of hematological parameters of cows on the course of labor and the postpartum period in highly productive Holstein cows. For this purpose, one group of cows was formed on the principle of analogue pairs in the amount of 30 animals with a gestation period of 7.5–8.0 months, followed by blood sampling from them using the Monovet system in vacuum test tubescontainers to determine morphological and biochemical parameters. Blood was taken 25–30 days before delivery in the morning 2 hours before feeding. Blood values were studied according to generally accepted methods using certified equipment. Subsequently, depending on the nature of the course of the birth, the animals were divided into two groups. The first group included 24 cows without pathology of the course of labor and the postpartum period, the second group included 16 cows with pathologies of the course of labor and the postpartum period. In the process of research, it was found that in 60.0 % of the cows the birth and the postpartum period passed without pathologies, and in 40.0 % of the birth and postpartum complications were revealed (retention of the placenta, acute postpartum endometritis, uterine subinvolution). A comparative analysis of the blood values of cows 25–30 days before birth the course of the labor process and postpartum period showed that in animals without pathology — compared to the animals with pathologies — the hematological parameters are considerably higher (hemoglobin content by 16.42 g/l, total protein by 10.96 g/l, albumin by 7.7 %, calcium by 0.98 mmol/l, glucose by 0.91 mmol, immunoglobin A by 59.77 mg/M), while the content of beta-globulins is lower by 8.51 % and that of enzyme AcT is lower by 25.94 units/l. A decrease in blood biochemical parameters contributes to the manifestation of the pathology of labor and the postpartum period. The data obtained can be used to develop an algorithm for the prevention of postpartum complications in highly productive cows.

The goal of the research was to determine how the dose of the feed additive Optigen in the ration of cows affects their haematological indices. The cattle were divided into four groups of 10 cows each. During the research, the animals of the control group received their basic ration, while the animals of the experimental groups were additionally fed with the 80, 100, and 120 g of feed additive Optigen. The blood indices were studied through generally accepted methods on certified equipment. It was discovered that 100 g of the feed additive Optigen in the ration of cows during the lactation period significantly improves the cellular components of the blood, increases the content of hemoglobin, total protein, albumins, and globulins, reduces the betaglobulin index, and provides a threshold level of the enzymes Alanine transaminase (ALT) and Aspartate transaminase (AST). The authors determined the blood indices of high-producing cows at the lactation peak characterizing the optimal Optigen dose of 100 g in the ration with 44.95% of dry basis. The obtained data can be used to develop a criterion for controlling the introduction of the feed additive Optigen in the ration of cattle, with the milk production level, feeding ration, and physiological state taken into account.
