11. Landslide identification and deformation monitoring analysis in Xining City based on the time series InSAR of Sentinel-1 a with ascending and descending orbits.

Abstract

Landslide hazards are a common occurrence on the Loess Plateau of China, and the use of time-series interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) can effectively identify potential landslides and monitor their deformation, thus allowing to mitigate the risks associated with such hazards. In this study, we used Sentinel-1A ascending and descending orbit images to identify 74 significantly deformed areas in Xining city, of which 35 were confirmed as active landslides, using two time-series InSAR algorithms: small baseline subset (SBAS) and permanent scatterer (PS). Compared to PS, SBAS yielded a higher point density and more continuous deformation rate results in space. Our correlation analysis indicated a high correlation between the deformation rate results obtained from SBAS and PS algorithms, demonstrating their high consistency. Furthermore, by comparing the monitoring results of SBAS and PS algorithms with the GNSS monitoring data, we observed that the cumulative landslide deformation detected by PS algorithms was more consistent with the GNSS monitoring data. Finally, we analyzed the relationship between landslide deformation and the main influencing factors, which showed that the combined effect of precipitation, fault, slope, and engineered rock formations was the primary cause of landslide activity in the region during the study period. In conclusion, time-series InSAR algorithm is a valuable tool for identifying and monitoring loess landslides, and provides a scientific basis for regional disaster prevention and control. Abstract

Grasslands play a vital role in the global ecosystem. Efficient and reproducible methods for estimating the grassland aboveground biomass (AGB) are crucial for understanding grassland growth, promoting sustainable development, and assessing the carbon cycle. Currently, the available methods are limited by their computational inefficiency, model transfer, and sampling scale. Therefore, in this study, the estimation of grassland AGB over a large area was achieved by coupling the PROSAIL model with the support vector machine regression (SVR) method. The ill-posed inverse problem of the PROSAIL model was mitigated through kernel-based regularization using the SVR model. The Zoigê Plateau was used as the case study area, and the results demonstrated that the estimated biomass accurately reproduced the reference AGB map generated by zooming in on on-site measurements (R2 = 0.64, RMSE = 43.52 g/m2, RRMSE = 15.13%). The estimated AGB map also maintained a high fitting accuracy with field sampling data (R2 = 0.69, RMSE = 44.07 g/m2, RRMSE = 14.21%). Further, the generated time-series profiles of grass AGB for 2022 were consistent with the trends in local grass growth dynamics. The proposed method combines the advantages of the PROSAIL model and the regression algorithm, reduces the dependence on field sampling data, improves the universality and repeatability of grassland AGB estimation, and provides an efficient approach for grassland ecosystem construction and planning. 沉积盖层的碎屑锆石内部结构和年龄谱是了解碎屑沉积岩形成环境和物源区的重要研究对象。本文报道了鄂尔多斯盆地3口钻井中的4个长城系（变质）沉积岩样品的碎屑锆石SHRIMP U-Pb定年和Hf同位素分析结果。结果表明，主年龄峰值为~1.8Ga，另外，在~2.5Ga存在一个次年龄峰值，最年轻碎屑锆石年龄为~1.6Ga，但存在大的误差。锆石的Hf同位素组成存在很大变化，eHf（t）值变化范围为-10.5~+6.7。结合前人研究，可得出如下结论：（1）鄂尔多斯盆地长城系底界沉积时代小于1.7Ga，与华北克拉通东部的类似；（2）鄂尔多斯盆地长城系碎屑沉积物来自其北部古元古代孔兹岩系和/或鄂尔多斯变质基底本身；（3）鄂尔多斯盆地长城系与华北克拉通东部地区长城系形成于类似的构造环境，如大陆裂谷或坳拉槽。

Abstract

Based on the spatial distribution of ancient rocks and zircons, three ancient terranee older than ca. 2.6 Ga have recently been identified in the North China Craton, namely the Eastern, Southern, and Central Ancient Terranee. The Eastern Ancient Terrane is the best studied and understood of the three ancient terranes. It has a long geological history back to ca. 3.8 Ga ago and includes the areas of Anshan-Benxi, eastern Hebei, eastern Shandong and western Shandong. In Anshan-Benxi, several different types of 3.8 Ga rocks were discovered together with 3.1–3.7 Ga rocks, whereas 2.9–3.0 Ga K-rich granites and 2.5 Ga syenogranite occur on larger scales. In eastern Hebei, 3.0–3.4 Ga rocks and older detrital and xenocrystic zircons were identified. In eastern Shandong, there are a large volumes of 2.7 Ga and 2.9 Ga rocks. In western Shandong, early Neoarchean (2.6–2.7 Ga) intrusive and supracrustal rocks are widely distributed. Whole-rock Nd and zircon Hf isotope data suggest that both mantle additions and crustal recycling played important roles within the Eastern Ancient Terrane during almost every tectono-magmatic event. Most BIFs in the North China Craton are late Neoarchean in age and are distributed on continental crust along the western margin of the Eastern Ancient Terrane, probably suggesting that a stable environment was one of the key factors for the formation of large-scale BIFs.
