4. Spectroscopic Analysis of Processing and Storage Characteristics of Fermented Camel and Cow Milks

Abstract

The microrheological characteristics and stability of set yogurt made from camel and cow milks during fermentation were analyzed by multi-frequency diffusion wave spectroscopy and multi-light scattering spectroscopy, respectively, and their titratable acidity, viable bacterial count, viscosity, water-holding capacity and texture indexes were determined. The results showed that it took 9.5 h for camel milk and 6.5 h for cow milk to reach the end point of fermentation. The results of microrheological analysis showed that as a fluid with low viscoelasticity, fermented camel milk had lower elasticity index (EI) and macroscopic viscosity index (MVI) but higher flow factor (FF) and solid-liquid balance (SLB) values than fermented cow milk. The results of multiple light scattering spectroscopy showed that fermented cow milk was more stable than fermented camel milk during fermentation, while the opposite was true during storage, indicating that the internal structure of fermented camel milk, with higher stability, was more compact. During storage, the titratable acidity of fermented camel milk was lower than that of fermented cow milk, and the numbers of viable bacteria in both of them were more than 1 × 107 CFU/mL, a significant difference being observed between them (P < 0.05), and the water-holding capacity of fermented camel milk was higher than that of fermented cow milk. Texture analysis showed that the hardness, consistency and viscosity index of fermented cow milk were all significantly higher than those of fermented camel milk (P < 0.05). In summary, it is not easy for camel milk to form a gel structure after fermentation, but because of the tight internal structure, fermented camel milk is stable, which is more favorable for product storage. In contrast, it is easier for cow milk to form a thick and dense texture after fermentation. This study provides a theoretical basis for the practical application and promotion of fermented camel milk, and provides ideas for the diversified development of fermented non-bovine milks.

5. Research Progress on Animal Models of Long Bone Fractures

Abstract

Traumatic fractures and stress fractures are common orthopedic diseases, and there is great potential in researching bone turnover, repair, and promotion of fracture healing. Basic medical experiments often use animal models of long bone fractures in limbs to study the mechanisms of various interventions on fracture healing. Fracture healing is a complex process influenced by multiple factors and involves multiple molecules and pathways. Therefore, to explore the mechanisms more deeply, accelerate the translation of results, and improve the clinical efficacy, it is particularly important to choose the appropriate animal fracture modeling methods in experimental research. Based on this, this paper conducts a literature review of animal species and modeling methods commonly used for long bone fracture models in experimental research. It summarizes five methods: bone defect method, physical impact method, mechanical bending method, open osteotomy method, and drilling method. A side-by-side comparison of their advantages, disadvantages, and scope of application is made, aiming to provide suitable fracture models for studying the mechanisms of fracture healing interventions.

7. Effects of weak measurements on sudden change of quantum discord

Abstract

We study the peculiar dynamics of two qubits quantum discord with a sudden change in behavior. It is widely agreed in the literature nowadays that environment induce sudden change behavior of quantum discord. We explore the sudden change phenomenon under the action of local-independent environments, considering the discord of two-qubit which is obtained by means of the weak measurements on one of the two-qubit. It is shown that the sudden change phenomenon does not appear under weak measurements. We find that the quantum discord with weak measurements decays in a monotonic fashion, and show that quantum discord might exhibit a sudden change only for the strong (projective) measurement. We believe that environment is not the main role of the sudden change, but the quantum correlation itself is.

Abstract

Dielectric capacitors are widely used in pulsed power electronic devices due to their ultrahigh power densities and extremely fast charge/discharge speed. To achieve enhanced energy storage density, both maximum polarization (Pmax) and breakdown strength (Eb) need to be improved simultaneously. However, these two key parameters are inversely correlated. In this study, order-disorder transition induced polar nanoregions (PNRs) have been achieved in PbZrO3 thin films by making use of the low-energy ion implantation, enabling us overcome the trade-off between high polarizability and breakdown strength, which leads to the tripling of the energy storage density from 20.5 J/cm3 to 62.3 J/cm3 as well as the great enhancement of breakdown strength. This approach could be extended to other dielectric oxides to improve the energy storage performance, providing a new pathway for tailoring the oxide functionalities.

9. Inverse modeling of circular lattices via orbit response measurements in the presence of degeneracy

Abstract

The number and relative placement of BPMs and steerers with respect to the quadrupoles in a circular lattice can lead to degeneracy in the context of inverse modeling of accelerator optics. Further, the measurement uncertainties introduced by beam position monitors can propagate by the inverse modeling process in ways that prohibit the successful estimation of model errors. In this contribution, the influence of BPM and steerer placement on the conditioning of the inverse problem is studied. An analytical version of the Jacobian, linking the quadrupole gradient errors along with BPM and steerer gain errors with the orbit response matrix, is derived. It is demonstrated that this analytical version of the Jacobian can be used in place of the numerically obtained Jacobian during the fitting procedure. The approach is first tested with simulations and the findings are verified by measurement data taken on SIS18 synchrotron at GSI. The results are crosschecked with the standard numerical Jacobian approach. The quadrupole errors causing tune discrepancies observed at SIS18 are identified.

Abstract

C$^3$ is an opportunity to realize an e$^+$e$^-$ collider for the study of the Higgs boson at $\sqrt{s} = 250$ GeV, with a well defined upgrade path to 550 GeV while staying on the same short facility footprint. C$^3$ is based on a fundamentally new approach to normal conducting linear accelerators that achieves both high gradient and high efficiency at relatively low cost. Given the advanced state of linear collider designs, the key system that requires technical maturation for C$^3$ is the main linac. This white paper presents the staged approach towards a facility to demonstrate C$^3$ technology with both Direct (source and main linac) and Parallel (beam delivery, damping ring, ancillary component) R&D. The white paper also includes discussion on the approach for technology industrialization, related HEP R&D activities that are enabled by C$^3$ R&D, infrastructure requirements and siting options., Comment: contribution to Snowmass 2021

Abstract

We present a proposal for a cold copper distributed coupling accelerator that can provide a rapid route to precision Higgs physics with a compact 8 km footprint. This proposal is based on recent advances that increase the efficiency and operating gradient of a normal conducting accelerator. This technology also provides an $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider path to physics at multi-TeV energies. The study summarizes the distinctive features, methods, and patterns of Shenhou Jun Porcelain, and condenses its unique cultural characteristics. It further proposes packaging design strategies that integrate intangible cultural heritage with local food products in Henan, employing techniques such as logo design, graphic design, form design, artistic design, and dynamic design.
