Abstract Background We have recently constructed a DNA methylation classifier that can discriminate between pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PAAD) liver metastasis and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) with high accuracy (PAAD-iCCA-Classifier). PAAD is one of the leading causes of cancer of unknown primary and diagnosis is based on exclusion of other malignancies. Therefore, our focus was to investigate whether the PAAD-iCCA-Classifier can be used to diagnose PAAD metastases from other sites. Methods For this scope, the anomaly detection filter of the initial classifier was expanded by 8 additional mimicker carcinomas, amounting to a total of 10 carcinomas in the negative class. We validated the updated version of the classifier on a validation set, which consisted of a biological cohort (n = 3579) and a technical one (n = 15). We then assessed the performance of the classifier on a test set, which included a positive control cohort of 16 PAAD metastases from various sites and a cohort of 124 negative control samples consisting of 96 breast cancer metastases from 18 anatomical sites and 28 carcinoma metastases to the brain. Results The updated PAAD-iCCA-Classifier achieved 98.21% accuracy on the biological validation samples, and on the technical validation ones it reached 100%. The classifier also correctly identified 15/16 (93.75%) metastases of the positive control as PAAD, and on the negative control, it correctly classified 122/124 samples (98.39%) for a 97.85% overall accuracy on the test set. We used this DNA methylation dataset to explore the organotropism of PAAD metastases and observed that PAAD liver metastases are distinct from PAAD peritoneal carcinomatosis and primary PAAD, and are characterized by specific copy number alterations and hypomethylation of enhancers involved in epithelial-mesenchymal-transition. Conclusions The updated PAAD-iCCA-Classifier (available at https://classifier.tgc-research.de/ ) can accurately classify PAAD samples from various metastatic sites and it can serve as a diagnostic aid.

Nanosilver (NS) and indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) can improve cutting performance and subsequent growth. This study was performed in Taqtaq city in a randomized complete block design to study the effects of NS (30, 60, and 90 mg/L) and IBA (50, 100, and 200 mg/L) in addition to distilled water as a control on growth and some characteristics of hardwood cutting of Dalbergia sissoo Roxb. Application of IBA enhanced significantly buds sprouting, where the cutting treated with 50 mg/L IBA sprouted after 35.53 days. IBA at 200 mg/L increased plant leaf area significantly to 204.11 dm2 in comparison to the control cuttings (122.00 dm2). Furthermore, IBA at 50 and 200 mg/L increased the number of leaves to 194.66 and 193.00 leaves/plant, compared to control cuttings (158 leaves/plant). The lowest peroxidase activity (902.00 and 903.30 absorbing units/ g fresh leaves) was observed in the cuttings soaked in 30 and 60 mg/L NS, respectively. Both NS and IBA had a significant effect on macro and microelements in the shoot except Mg and Fe. The shoot content of elements was different in response to NS and IBA applications, whereas the high level of IBA decreased significantly K content (25.80 %) it increased significantly the shoot content of Zn (0.22%). However the lowest concentration of NS (30 mg/L) decreased significantly the Cu content (0.02 %) and increased significantly the shoot content of Mn (0.58%). Root response to NS and IBA also was different, where 90 mg/L NS increased significantly each of K (26.40%) and Zn content (0.68 %), whereas it decreased significantly the root content of Fe (8.78%). The enhancement effects of IBA were more than that of NS on most studied characteristics.

Résumé : Aujourd’hui, avec l’intensification des échanges commerciaux et sociaux engendrés par les effets de la mondialisation et où la diversité des contacts linguistiques et culturels a pris de l’ampleur, la prise en compte de la dimension interculturelle dans l’enseignement/apprentissage des langues étrangères est devenue une nécessité. Pour ce faire et pour développer une compétence interculturelle chez l’apprenant, ce dernier est mis en contact avec des documents authentiques qui reflètent la culture de l’Autre. Parmi ces documents, les textes littéraires qui sont par excellence vecteurs de l’interculturalité. Néanmoins, nous pensons qu’un autre document authentique peut lui aussi, être susceptible de favoriser le développement de cette compétence : la publicité. Nous avons donc mené une expérimentation auprès de lycéens algériens de la filière Lettres et langues étrangères pour rendre compte de ce possible développement. Les résultats de cette recherche ont montré que la publicité peut offrir un environnement favorable pour le développement d’un aspect de la compétence interculturelle, à savoir une sensibilisation aux différences culturelles et/ou un rajustement des représentations. Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) pose a serious public health issue, affecting social functioning and psychological well-being and leading to a deterioration in the quality of life. The aim of this study was to assess the quality of life of patients with CRDs and determine the factors associated with their impairment in Morocco. A cross-sectional study was conducted in the Pulmonology Department of the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez in 2021. Data collection was carried out using an anonymous questionnaire containing sociodemographic, clinical, and therapeutic information. We employed the Moroccan version of the 12-item short-form (SF-12) scale to assess the mental and physical quality of life of patients. Bivariate analysis was performed to investigate the association between various factors and quality of life, using tests appropriate to the types of variables studied. Subsequently, multivariate analysis through multiple linear regression was employed to determine factors associated with quality of life, taking into account confounding factors. The threshold for inclusion in the model was set at 20%. Significant associations are presented as β values along with their 95% confidence intervals (CI). Our study included 209 patients, with 50.7% being female and 74.2% aged over 50 years. The most frequent clinical symptom was coughing. The average physical quality of life was estimated at 34.45±13.78, and the mental quality of life was 33.72±19.79. Multivariate analysis revealed that the deterioration of physical quality of life was associated with marital status (single) [β=-6.84; 95% CI (-11.43; -2.25); p=0.004], stage II dyspnea on the Modified Medical Research Council scale [β=-4.94; 95% CI (-9.41; -0.52); p=0.029], and the presence of cyanosis [β=-9.65; 95% CI (-15.64; -3.67); p=0.002]. The factors negatively associated with mental health in our patients were age ≥50 [β=-7.84; 95% CI (-15.05; -0.62); p=0.033], marital status (single) [β=-7.81; 95% CI (-15.14; -0.48); p=0.037], and presence of cyanosis [β=-10.70; 95% CI (-20.08; -1.32); p=0.026]. The SF-12 calculation reflected an impairment in the quality of life of patients with CRDs. It is imperative to integrate the assessment of quality of life into the management strategy for this pathology.

Abstract Background Surgery represents the only curative treatment option for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), but recurrence in more than 85% of patients limits the success of curative-intent tumor resection. Neural invasion (NI), particularly the spread of tumor cells along nerves into extratumoral regions of the pancreas, constitutes a well-recognized risk factor for recurrence. Hence, monitoring and therapeutic targeting of NI offer the potential to stratify recurrence risk and improve recurrence-free survival. Based on the evolutionary conserved dual function of axon and vessel guidance molecules, we hypothesize that the proangiogenic vessel guidance factor placental growth factor (PlGF) fosters NI. To test this hypothesis, we correlated PlGF with NI in PDAC patient samples and functionally assessed its role for the interaction of tumor cells with nerves. Methods Serum levels of PlGF and its soluble receptor sFlt1, and expression of PlGF mRNA transcripts in tumor tissues were determined by ELISA or qPCR in a retrospective discovery and a prospective validation cohort. Free circulating PlGF was calculated from the ratio PlGF/sFlt1. Incidence and extent of NI were quantified based on histomorphometric measurements and separately assessed for intratumoral and extratumoral nerves. PlGF function on reciprocal chemoattraction and directed neurite outgrowth was evaluated in co-cultures of PDAC cells with primary dorsal-root-ganglia neurons or Schwann cells using blocking anti-PlGF antibodies. Results Elevated circulating levels of free PlGF correlated with NI and shorter overall survival in patients with PDAC qualifying for curative-intent surgery. Furthermore, high tissue PlGF mRNA transcript levels in patients undergoing curative-intent surgery correlated with a higher incidence and greater extent of NI spreading to tumor-distant extratumoral nerves. In turn, more abundant extratumoral NI predicted shorter disease-free and overall survival. Experimentally, PlGF facilitated directional and dynamic changes in neurite outgrowth of primary dorsal-root-ganglia neurons upon exposure to PDAC derived guidance and growth factors and supported mutual chemoattraction of tumor cells with neurons and Schwann cells. Conclusion Our translational results highlight PlGF as an axon guidance factor, which fosters neurite outgrowth and attracts tumor cells towards nerves. Hence, PlGF represents a promising circulating biomarker of NI and potential therapeutic target to improve the clinical outcome for patients with resectable PDAC. Graphical Abstract

IntroductionIn the current climate of heightened terrorist activity, the deliberate release or threat of biological agents like viruses, bacteria, fungi, or their toxins to induce sickness or death among civilians has become a genuine possibility. The most crucial action during a bioterrorist strike is early warning. The possibility of such an occurrence in dental setting is underestimated. Methods and MaterialsSeventy five graduate students participated in the research. In a survey on zoonotic diseases, participants were asked whether they were familiar with the transmission from person to person, if the diseases caused significant morbidity and mortality, whether they were simple to produce and disseminate, and whether they posed a high risk of infection. ResultsGraph Prism was used to examine the data. A single proportion test was used to determine the “Aware Not Aware” group. The first 10 questions assessed dentists objective knowledge of bioterrorism. The importance of the last six questions was determined by their analysis of dentists’ preparedness and desire to respond to a bioterrorism associated occurrence via perceived knowledge. ConclusionGiven the real danger they may face, dentists needed to be vigilant regarding the prevention, detection, and treatment of zoonotic illnesses transmitted in their offices or as a vector while being commended for their courage in the face of adversity.

The Hamamok Dam is an earthfill dam with a height of 25 m and length of 125 m; constructed in 2011; located northwest of Koya town on a deep canyon-like valley that flows along the southeastern plunge of the Bana Bawi anticline; which forms Bawagi Mountain. The exposed rocks in the site belong to the Pila Spi and Gercus formations; however, rocks of the Khurmala and Kolosh formations are exposed upstream from the dam’s reservoir. The difference in the hardness of the carbonate rocks of the Pila Spi Formation which forms the uppermost parts of the cliffs surrounding the dam site and those of soft reddish brown clastics of the Gercus Formation caused steep slopes that suffer from slope instability problems. To assess a geotechnical study of slopes in the dam site, we have collected different field data to perform a Kinematic assessment method using Dip Analyst 2.0 software and draw the stereographic projection for the studied 10 stations using Stereonet v.11 software. Besides Bejerman’s method, which is based on field data only and indicates the Landslide Possibility Index (LPI). The results showed that the L.P.I. values range between 23 and 27, whereas the results of the Kinematic analysis showed that the right bank (Stations 1 – 5) suffers from plane sliding, whereas the left bank (Stations 6 – 10) suffers from toppling. In both cases, Joint 2 has the main role in the developed failures.

The paper aims to investigate that language usage significantly influences relationships, either strengthening or straining them, necessitating careful consideration by language users. The study focuses on diverse facets, encompassing language applications, the role of slang, and the repercussions of its use in social media. Explicit language, particularly prevalent in online platforms, is scrutinized for its motivations and subsequent adverse effects on individuals and society. With a specific focus on slang, the paper seeks to validate this linguistic form and elucidate its informal impact on both senders and recipients, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of language dynamics in Kurdish society.

The Khurmala Formation is exposed in restricted areas in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, usually between the Kolosh and Gercus formations. One of those exposed areas is the Haibat Sultan Mountain which extends from Koya town and eastwards to Sulaymaniyah city with NW-SE trend, where it passes to the Sinjar Formation. The rocks of the latter are used as the raw materials in five cement plants in Sulaymaniyah Governorate. The rocks of the Khurmala Formation were sampled near Kalka Smaq village along the road which crosses Haibat Sultan Mountain to perform an industrial assessment of the rocks. The sampled section is 65 m thick; 13 samples were collected as channel samples with regular intervals of 5 m. In the field, the samples were lithologically described and checked with HCl acid. The samples were powdered, and subjected to XRF to detect the main oxides in the samples. The obtained results of CaO, MgO, Fe2O3, Al2O3, Na2O, K2O, SiO2, SO3, Cl, and L.O.I. as weight percentages were checked with Iraqi standards to find for what industrial uses can be suitable. Accordingly, the samples were found to be suitable for the cement industry and for the paper industry, but after slight treatment.

Abstract Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells have been implicated in various inflammatory diseases of barrier organs, but so far, their role in kidney disease is unclear. Here we report that MAIT cells that recognize their prototypical ligand, the vitamin B2 intermediate 5-OP-RU presented by MR1, reside in human and mouse kidneys. Single cell RNAseq analysis reveals several intrarenal MAIT subsets, and one, carrying the genetic fingerprint of tissue-resident MAIT17 cells, is activated and expanded in a murine model of crescentic glomerulonephritis (cGN). An equivalent subset is also present in kidney biopsies of patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmatic antibody (ANCA)-associated cGN. MAIT cell-deficient MR1 mice show aggravated disease, whereas B6-MAITCAST mice, harboring higher MAIT cell numbers, are protected from cGN. The expanded MAIT17 cells express anti-inflammatory mediators known to suppress cGN, such as CTLA-4, PD-1, and TGF-β. Interactome analysis predicts CXCR6 – CXCL16-mediated cross-talk with renal mononuclear phagocytes, known to drive cGN progression. In line, we find that cGN is aggravated upon CXCL16 blockade. Finally, we present an optimized 5-OP-RU synthesis method which we apply to attenuating cGN in mice. In summary, we propose that CXCR6+ MAIT cells might play a protective role in cGN, implicating them as a potential target for anti-inflammatory therapies.

The study aimed to evaluate knowledge, awareness, and perception of tooth-supported and implant-supported prostheses among an adult sample in Sana’a city in Yemen. A cross-sectional descriptive–analytical study was conducted on a convenient sample of 509 participants. All participants were aged 18 years and above with at least 1 missing tooth. The participants visited the public or private hospitals or their outpatient clinics in the municipality of the capital, Sana’a, Yemen. Their chief complaints when visiting the hospitals were not related to dental problems but to general healthcare. The participants who agreed and signed the consent form were interviewed and examined. The data were then recorded and statistically analyzed. The levels of awareness and knowledge of implant-supported prostheses among the 509 participants were low (58.0%, 33.6%, respectively). A significant positive correlation was found between genders (p = 0.003 for males, p = 0.000 for females), but no significant differences were detected between genders related to the awareness and knowledge of tooth-supported prostheses (p = 0.690). Most of the respondents had a low level of awareness, knowledge, and perception of treatment options for tooth replacement modalities.

This study investigates the impact of mechanical alteration on resin composite surfaces and its subsequent effect on repair bond strength. A total of 100 resin composite disks were prepared and were allocated for 24 h or 1 year of artificial aging. Specimens were embedded in epoxy resin, and the composite surfaces were mechanically altered using either diamond burs or air abrasion with aluminum oxide or glass beads. A universal bonding material was applied and a 2 mm circular and 3 mm high repair composite cylinder were prepared using a Teflon mold. Then, the specimens were tested for their shear bond strength, and the de-bonded specimens were observed under a scanning electron microscope to determine the failure pattern. SPSS 26.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data. Two-way ANOVA showed a statistically significant effect of mechanical alteration and aging on the shear bond strength of S-PRG-filler-based resin composite (p < 0.05). Surface modification with a fine diamond bur showed a significantly higher bond strength in both 24-h- and 1-year-aged specimens. Surface modification with alumina significantly increased the bond strength of 1-year-aged specimens; however, it was statistically insignificant for 24 h-aged specimens. Mechanical alteration with a fine diamond bur and 50-micron alumina can improve the repair bond strength of the composite.

This paper investigates the impact of entrepreneurship on cooperative job creation in a large North American post-secondary institution. The data-driven analysis is enabled by two unique datasets: a list of companies started by the institution's engineering students and faculty, and a database of the institution's cooperative education (co-op) placements. Over the past 10 years, companies started by the institution's engineers have created at least 9,000 co-op placements for the institution's students, paying a total of at least $115 million in salaries (Canadian dollar; CAD$). Furthermore, students working for these companies were more likely to receive high performance evaluations than their peers and were more likely to be satisfied with the cooperative experience. Finally, students who went on to start companies did not always take entrepreneurship courses or excel academically, but they were rated highly by their workplace supervisors.

Résumé: La publicité est souvent définie comme une activité de communication commerciale ou sociale où un annonceur incite un récepteur potentiel à la consommation d’un produit ou à défendre une cause sociale. Cependant, la publicité est aussi un produit de la culture et son miroir en ce qu’elle reflète ses normes, ses croyances et ses systèmes de valeurs. En contexte scolaire algérien, la publicité est exploitée uniquement en tant que discours argumentatif, sa dimension culturelle n’est pas prise en compte. Nous nous sommes alors intéressés à la position des apprenants, notamment ceux du cycle secondaire, vis-à-vis de ce document médiatique en interrogeant leurs connaissances et leurs représentations sur la publicité afin de découvrir comment ils perçoivent son exploitation en classe pour un apprentissage de la langue française aussi bien sur le plan linguistique que culturel. Les résultats de l’enquête montrent un engouement des apprenants algériens pour les supports publicitaires en cours de langue dans le but d’améliorer leur compétence linguistique et culturelle. A Ground Penetrating Radar for bathymetry and water current velocity was used to estimate the discharge value of Lesser Zab River at Klesa station with coordinates (35º 53’ 08.21′′ N, 44º 35′ 35.90′′ E). Two traverses were taken across the river which represented two sites in Klesa area which were (A-B) traverse with the coordinates (N 3970652 and E 491898), and (C-D) traverse with the coordinates (N 3972195 and E 487681). Measuring water flow rate by velocity area method was done by Mid-section method, to confirm the validity of the data; two sections were conducted for each of the two traverses to deduce two radargrams along the profiles (A-B) and (D-C). The radargrams drew by using sophisticated software and were very helpful in detecting the river floor topography and depth variation along both profiles, the distance between the two sites was 5 km. The results indicate that the maximum width of the river at stations is 36.5m and the maximum water depth of Lesser Zab River is 4.75m, maximum velocity is 1.88 m/s. The water flow rate deviates from 136.737m3/s to 147.23m3/s. The average discharge for Lesser Zab river = 141.983 m3/s. This discharge is under normal average because the data was taken in November 2019. Because of the mild weather and the lack of electricity consumption, so using these results in water resource management and planning for satisfying domestic consumption, irrigation, industrial consumption, …etc. in the Klesa area, will be economically beneficial for the water management policy of the country.

Future mobile networks are envisioned to have critical limitations in terms of latency, energy usage, capacity and network resources since these networks are expected to become extremely dense and complex. The rapid enormous advances in recent technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) highlights the urgent need for network performance enhancement as well. To this end, self-organizing networks are a promising solution to push the network performance to the next level. These scalable networks can dynamically adapt to possible changes in the network. Smart mobility management, in particular mobility prediction, is a subsection of self-organizing functions which are mainly based on the machine learning techniques. In this paper, we propose to estimate user’s future trajectory using machine learning approaches for a better network management. We propose a novel bidirectional trajectory prediction model called BTPM to model the user mobility behavior. The proposed method exploits the potential benefits of bidirectional gated recurrent unit (GRU) for having an accurate prediction. Moreover, we introduce a data preprocessing phase to obtain better results with significantly lower execution time. The proposed approach takes full advantage of data analysis in both directions (backward and forward) in order to provide a long-term prediction and model user’s mobility even with complex patterns. Experimental results show that the proposed bidirectional approach significantly improves the performance of the mobility predictor in terms of model accuracy, robustness and execution time. It achieves a model error of 0.014 and decreases the execution time up to 97%.

Immune responses to pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma can be inhibited by cancer cells. Here the authors show that high levels of progranulin in PDAC inhibits immune responses by reducing MHC class I antigen presentation through enhanced degradation of MHC class I via autophagy.

BACKGROUND: Thalassemia syndromes and structural hemoglobin variants generate blood crisis of variable clinical symptoms, ranging from mild-to-moderate hematological disorder to severe, lifelong, transfusion-dependent anemia. The aim of current study was to uncover the prevalence of thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies in the Erbil governorate, Kurdistan region of Iraq. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The available data of thalassemia major, thalassemia intermedia, sickle cell disease, sickle cell trait, and HbH and HbE until the end of 2020 were collected retrospectively from Erbil Thalassemia Center in Erbil governorate, Kurdistan region of Iraq and analyzed by using Microsoft Excel (Version 2016). RESULTS: An increase in the prevalence of thalassemia syndromes from 30.8/100,000 in 2015 to 37.3/100,000 individuals in the population in 2020 was revealed. The prevalence of all hemoglobinopathies combined increased from 31.9/100,000 to 42.7/100,000 individuals of the population. Thalassemia major was the predominant condition among the hemoglobinopathies with 758 (78.71%) cases out of 963 cases at the end of 2020. CONCLUSION: This rise might be attributed to a large number of consanguineous marriages, the lack of effective prevention programs, and poor legislation. There is an emergent requirement for a preventive program, entailing identification of carriers, genetic counseling, guidelines to differentiate between other microcytic anemias with thalassemia traits, antenatal diagnosis, public education, and sustained legislation.

Abstract Background The tropical disease onchocerciasis (river blindness), caused by Onchocerca volvulus filarial nematodes, is targeted for elimination by mass treatment with nematocidal and antimicrobial drugs. Diagnosis of O. volvulus infections is based on counts of skin-borne microfilariae, but additional diagnostic tools, e.g. worm- or host-derived small RNAs, proteins or metabolites, are required for high-throughput screening. N-acetyltyramine-O,β-glucuronide (NATOG) was suggested as a biomarker for onchocerciasis but its viability as diagnostic tool has been challenged. Methods We performed a screening program of urine samples from individuals from Cameroon infected with O. volvulus, Loa loa, Mansonella perstans or a combination thereof. Urine metabolites were measured by liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Principle component analysis (PCA) revealed that onchocerciasis causes complex changes of the urine metabolome. Results The mean NATOG content was elevated in urine of O. volvulus-infected compared with non-infected individuals, but NATOG levels showed considerable variation. However, 13.8% of all O. volvulus-infected individuals had high NATOG levels never reached by individuals without filarial infections or only infected with L. loa or M. perstans. Therefore, the identification of individuals with high NATOG levels might be used to screen for the elimination of onchocerciasis after mass drug application. Additional metabolites, including a compound identified as cinnamoylglycine, had high PC1/PC2 loadings in the data set. Mean levels of cinnamoylglycine were increased in O. volvulus-infected individuals, and 17.2% of all O. volvulus individuals had elevated cinnamoylglycine levels not reached by the controls. Conclusions On an individual level, NATOG alone had poor discriminative power distinguishing infected from non-infected individuals. However, 13.8% of all O. volvulus-infected individuals had NATOG levels never reached by individuals without filarial infections or infected with only L. loa or M. perstans. Discrimination of O. volvulus infections from controls or individuals suffering from multiple infections was improved by the measurement of additional metabolites, e.g. cinnamoylglycine. Thus, measuring a combination of urine metabolites may provide a way to assess onchocerciasis on the population level. This provides the possibility to design a strategy for large-scale onchocerciasis epidemiological screening programs based on urine rather than invasive techniques. Graphical abstract

There is no doubt that oil is considered a strategic commodity for producing and exporting. It is been experienced that oil is an important means to achieve economic growth. The oil industries encounter conflicts such as widespread environmental issues, human displacement, and inadequate compensation for losses imposed in the oil-producing communities, and inadequate community level involvement. These are leading to alienation between states and the indigenous population. The aim of the current research is to investigate the impacts of oil field development for rural areas, having Taq-Taq Oil Field in Kurdistan Region Iraq (KRG) as a case study. The research project was conducted in the form of a survey study. The population of the study included the rural residents in six villages around the field. The necessary data for this research was collected squarely 48 samples. Rural residents in the study area were taken using a random sampling method. The reliability of the questionnaire was calculated by Cronbach alpha coefficient for different sections. After conducting a pilot study for each structure respectively calculated: economic infrastructural, social, cultural, and environmental factors. The results of factor analysis showed that the negative and positive impacts of oil industry development occurred in the rural area. In this case study, a variance of %64 explained for entire factors included: infrastructural, social, cultural, economic, and environmental.

Mobile networks are expected to face major problems such as low network capacity, high latency, and limited resources but are expected to provide seamless connectivity in the foreseeable future. It is crucial to deliver an adequate level of performance for network services and to ensure an acceptable quality of services for mobile users. Intelligent mobility management is a promising solution to deal with the aforementioned issues. In this context, modeling user mobility behaviour is of great importance in order to extract valuable information about user behaviours and to meet their demands. In this paper, we propose a hybrid user mobility prediction approach for handover management in mobile networks. First, we extract user mobility patterns using a mobility model based on statistical models and deep learning algorithms. We deploy a vector autoregression (VAR) model and a gated recurrent unit (GRU) to predict the future trajectory of a user. We then reduce the number of unnecessary handover signaling messages and optimize the handover procedure using the obtained prediction results. We deploy mobility data generated from real users to conduct our experiments. The simulation results show that the proposed VAR-GRU mobility model has the lowest prediction error in comparison with existing methods. Moreover, we investigate the handover processing and transmission costs for predictive and non-predictive scenarios. It is shown that the handover-related costs effectively decrease when we obtain a prediction in the network. For vertical handover, processing cost and transmission cost improve, respectively, by 57.14% and 28.01%.

The obesity rate and its prevalence are increasing with many complications in the population. Obesity is a condition in which the bodyweight gain extended to the point where it causes obstacles to health. Usually, this extended body weight comes from excessive fat which consequences of the imbalance between calories expended and calories consumed. Pre-test questionnaire by utilizing validation of self-administration as a cross-sectional investigation was carried out to diagnose the overview of obesity and health issue risks among Koya technical staff. The height of the staff was calculated by supporting a measuring tape (Seca 206 body meter) and the mass of the body (kg) was measured by providing weighing scale TANTA. Overall, according to the findings of this study, we conclude that body overweight (54.7%) and obesity (18%) are clear among academics and administrate staff of Koya Technical Institute at Erbil Polytechnic University. While normal body weights are (25.3%) and underweight approximately (2%). Analyses of data showed that obesity is a significant difference between married and unmarried of participants, besides, there are many factors appear to have a great role and association with health situation and body overweight such as (age, gender, and level of education, type of work, income and physical activity). Physical activities and lifestyle have a strong relation with obesity, especially its reveal among administrates rather than academics, because of fewer activities and lack of regular exercise.
