National audience; Identifier les sens possibles des mots du vocabulaire est un problème difficile demandant un travail manuel très conséquent. Ce travail a été entrepris pour l'anglais : le résultat est la base de données lexicale WordNet, pour laquelle il n'existe encore que peu d'équivalents dans d'autres langues. Néanmoins, des traductions automatiques de WordNet vers de nombreuses langues cibles existent, notamment pour le français. JAWS est une telle traduction automatique utilisant des dictionnaires et un modèle de langage syntaxique. Nous améliorons cette traduction, la complétons avec les verbes et adjectifs de WordNet, et démontrons la validité de notre approche via une nouvelle évaluation manuelle. En plus de la version principale nommée WoNeF, nous produisons deux versions supplémentaires : une version à haute précision (93% de précision, jusqu'à 97% pour les noms), et une version à haute couverture contenant 109 447 paires (littéral, synset).

Color imaging systems still use a combination of conventional photo-detectors and RGB optical filters for color measurement. This entails many limitations to the color sensor performances. We reported that buried junction color detectors give good alternatives to overcome these limitations. However, successful design of color sensors using these detectors requires an accurate knowledge of their behaviors. Unfortunately, circuit simulators do not provide models for these devices. In order to make the designer task more flexible, an optoelectronic library is developed under CADENCE design tool. It consists of some optoelectronic elements such as Buried Double pn Junction (BDJ) detector and a set of optical sources. This allows the designer to choose an optical stimulus with a specific spectral distribution and also to select the total power incident on the BDJ surface. The library is obtained by implementing, in Spectre simulator, the behavioral models of the optoelectronic elements. The models are written using Verilog-A language. Simulations of the BDJ spectral response and dark currents give a good agreement with experimental data. We also note the absence of convergence errors or mathematical faults during DC and transient simulations of active pixel sensor architectures. These results confirm the robustness of the optoelectronic library.

With the help of unpublished photographs and documents, the author retraces those conditions in which in 1915, H. D. Dakin, after having rejoined Alexis Carrel at the temporary military hospital at Compiègne, perfected his famous antiseptic solution which bears his name. He is quick to point out the controversies concerning the discovery, as well as the difficulties that manufacturing the product caused at the outset.
