Abstract: The production of prompt D + and Ds+ mesons is studied in proton-lead collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of sNN = 5.02 TeV. The data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of (1.58 ± 0.02)nb −1 is collected by the LHCb experiment at the LHC. The differential production cross-sections are measured using D + and Ds+ candidates with transverse momentum in the range of 0 < p T < 14 GeV/c and rapidities in the ranges of 1.5 < y ∗ < 4.0 and –5.0 < y ∗ < –2.5 in the nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass system. For both particles, the nuclear modification factor and the forward-backward production ratio are determined. These results are compared with theoretical models that include initial-state nuclear effects. In addition, measurements of the cross-section ratios between D +, Ds+ and D 0 mesons are presented, providing a baseline for studying the charm hadronization in lead-lead collisions at LHC energies. Abstract: The first measurement of the Z boson production cross-section at centre-of-mass energy s = 5.02 TeV in the forward region is reported, using pp collision data collected by the LHCb experiment in year 2017, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 100 ± 2 pb−1. The production cross-section is measured for final-state muons in the pseudorapidity range 2.0 < η < 4.5 with transverse momentum pT> 20 GeV/c. The integrated cross-section is determined to be (Formula presented.) for the di-muon invariant mass in the range 60 < Mμμ< 120 GeV/c2. This result and the differential cross-section results are in good agreement with theoretical predictions at next-to-next-to-leading order in the strong coupling constant. Based on a previous LHCb measurement of the Z boson production cross-section in pPb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV, the nuclear modification factor RpPb is measured for the first time at this energy. Abstract: A model-independent study of CP violation in B0→DK∗0 decays is presented using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9\,fb-1 collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of s=7,8 and 13\,TeV. The CKM angle γ is determined by examining the distributions of signal decays in phase-space bins of the self-conjugate D→KS0h+h- decays, where h=π,K. Observables related to CP violation are measured and the angle γ is determined to be γ=(49-19+22)∘. Measurements of the amplitude ratio and strong-phase difference between the favoured and suppressed B0 decays are also presented.

Abstract: The ratios of branching fractions R(D^{*})≡B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and R(D^{0})≡B(B^{-}→D^{0}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B^{-}→D^{0}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}) are measured, assuming isospin symmetry, using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode τ^{-}→μ^{-}ν_{τ}ν[over ¯]_{μ}. The measured values are R(D^{*})=0.281±0.018±0.024 and R(D^{0})=0.441±0.060±0.066, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The correlation between these measurements is ρ=-0.43. The results are consistent with the current average of these quantities and are at a combined 1.9 standard deviations from the predictions based on lepton flavor universality in the standard model.

Abstract: The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will produce world-leading neutrino oscillation measurements over the lifetime of the experiment. In this work, we explore DUNE's sensitivity to observe charge-parity violation (CPV) in the neutrino sector, and to resolve the mass ordering, for exposures of up to 100 kiloton-megawatt-calendar years (kt-MW-CY), where calendar years include an assumption of 57% accelerator uptime based on past accelerator performance at Fermilab. The analysis includes detailed uncertainties on the flux prediction, the neutrino interaction model, and detector effects. We demonstrate that DUNE will be able to unambiguously resolve the neutrino mass ordering at a 4σ (5σ) level with a 66 (100) kt-MW-CY far detector exposure, and has the ability to make strong statements at significantly shorter exposures depending on the true value of other oscillation parameters, with a median sensitivity of 3σ for almost all true δCP values after only 24 kt-MW-CY. We also show that DUNE has the potential to make a robust measurement of CPV at a 3σ level with a 100 kt-MW-CY exposure for the maximally CP-violating values δCP=±π/2. Additionally, the dependence of DUNE's sensitivity on the exposure taken in neutrino-enhanced and antineutrino-enhanced running is discussed. An equal fraction of exposure taken in each beam mode is found to be close to optimal when considered over the entire space of interest.

Abstract: The ProtoDUNE-SP detector is a single-phase liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) that was constructed and operated in the CERN North Area at the end of the H4 beamline. This detector is a prototype for the first far detector module of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), which will be constructed at the Sandford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota, U.S.A. The ProtoDUNE-SP detector incorporates full-size components as designed for DUNE and has an active volume of 7 × 6 × 7.2 m3. The H4 beam delivers incident particles with well-measured momenta and high-purity particle identification. ProtoDUNE-SP's successful operation between 2018 and 2020 demonstrates the effectiveness of the single-phase far detector design. This paper describes the design, construction, assembly and operation of the detector components.

Abstract: DUNE is a dual-site experiment for long-baseline neutrino oscillation studies, neutrino astrophysics and nucleon decay searches. ProtoDUNE Dual Phase (DP) is a 6 × 6 × 6 m 3 liquid argon time-projection-chamber (LArTPC) that recorded cosmic-muon data at the CERN Neutrino Platform in 2019-2020 as a prototype of the DUNE Far Detector. Charged particles propagating through the LArTPC produce ionization and scintillation light. The scintillation light signal in these detectors can provide the trigger for non-beam events. In addition, it adds precise timing capabilities and improves the calorimetry measurements. In ProtoDUNE-DP, scintillation and electroluminescence light produced by cosmic muons in the LArTPC is collected by photomultiplier tubes placed up to 7 m away from the ionizing track. In this paper, the ProtoDUNE-DP photon detection system performance is evaluated with a particular focus on the different wavelength shifters, such as PEN and TPB, and the use of Xe-doped LAr, considering its future use in giant LArTPCs. The scintillation light production and propagation processes are analyzed and a comparison of simulation to data is performed, improving understanding of the liquid argon properties.

Abstract: The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is an international, world-class experiment aimed at exploring fundamental questions about the universe that are at the forefront of astrophysics and particle physics research. DUNE will study questions pertaining to the preponderance of matter over antimatter in the early universe, the dynamics of supernovae, the subtleties of neutrino interaction physics, and a number of beyond the Standard Model topics accessible in a powerful neutrino beam. A critical component of the DUNE physics program involves the study of changes in a powerful beam of neutrinos, i.e., neutrino oscillations, as the neutrinos propagate a long distance. The experiment consists of a near detector, sited close to the source of the beam, and a far detector, sited along the beam at a large distance. This document, the DUNE Near Detector Conceptual Design Report (CDR), describes the design of the DUNE near detector and the science program that drives the design and technology choices. The goals and requirements underlying the design, along with projected performance are given. It serves as a starting point for a more detailed design that will be described in future documents.

Abstract: The observation of 236 MeV muon neutrinos from kaon-decay-at-rest (KDAR) originating in the core of the Sun would provide a unique signature of dark matter annihilation. Since excellent angle and energy reconstruction are necessary to detect this monoenergetic, directional neutrino flux, DUNE with its vast volume and reconstruction capabilities, is a promising candidate for a KDAR neutrino search. In this work, we evaluate the proposed KDAR neutrino search strategies by realistically modeling both neutrino-nucleus interactions and the response of DUNE. We find that, although reconstruction of the neutrino energy and direction is difficult with current techniques in the relevant energy range, the superb energy resolution, angular resolution, and particle identification offered by DUNE can still permit great signal/background discrimination. Moreover, there are non-standard scenarios in which searches at DUNE for KDAR in the Sun can probe dark matter interactions.

Abstract: The deep underground neutrino experiment (DUNE), a 40-kton underground liquid argon time projection chamber experiment, will be sensitive to the electron-neutrino flavor component of the burst of neutrinos expected from the next Galactic core-collapse supernova. Such an observation will bring unique insight into the astrophysics of core collapse as well as into the properties of neutrinos. The general capabilities of DUNE for neutrino detection in the relevant few- to few-tens-of-MeV neutrino energy range will be described. As an example, DUNE’s ability to constrain the νe spectral parameters of the neutrino burst will be considered.

Abstract: The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is a next-generationlong-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment consisting of a high-power,broadband neutrino beam, a highly capable near detector located on site atFermilab, in Batavia, Illinois, and a massive liquid argon time projectionchamber (LArTPC) far detector located at the 4850L of Sanford UndergroundResearch Facility in Lead, South Dakota. The long-baseline physics sensitivitycalculations presented in the DUNE Physics TDR, and in a related physics paper,rely upon simulation of the neutrino beam line, simulation of neutrinointeractions in the near and far detectors, fully automated eventreconstruction and neutrino classification, and detailed implementation ofsystematic uncertainties. The purpose of this posting is to provide asimplified summary of the simulations that went into this analysis to thecommunity, in order to facilitate phenomenological studies of long-baselineoscillation at DUNE. Simulated neutrino flux files and a GLoBES configurationdescribing the far detector reconstruction and selection performance areincluded as ancillary files to this posting. A simple analysis using theseconfigurations in GLoBES produces sensitivity that is similar, but notidentical, to the official DUNE sensitivity. DUNE welcomes those interested inperforming phenomenological work as members of the collaboration, but alsorecognizes the benefit of making these configurations readily available to thewider community.

Abstract: Long-lived particles decaying to e±μ∓ν, with masses between 7 and 50GeV/c2 and lifetimes between 2 and 50ps, are searched for by looking at displaced vertices containing electrons and muons of opposite charges. The search is performed using 5.4fb-1 of pp collisions collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13TeV. Three mechanisms of production of long-lived particles are considered: the direct pair production from quark interactions, the pair production from the decay of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson with a mass of 125GeV/c2, and the charged current production from an on-shell W boson with an additional lepton. No evidence of these long-lived states is obtained and upper limits on the production cross-section times branching fraction are set on the different production modes.

Abstract: The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) will be a powerful tool for a variety of physics topics. The high-intensity proton beams provide a large neutrino flux, sampled by a near detector system consisting of a combination of capable precision detectors, and by the massive far detector system located deep underground. This configuration sets up DUNE as a machine for discovery, as it enables opportunities not only to perform precision neutrino measurements that may uncover deviations from the present three-flavor mixing paradigm, but also to discover new particles and unveil new interactions and symmetries beyond those predicted in the Standard Model (SM). Of the many potential beyond the Standard Model (BSM) topics DUNE will probe, this paper presents a selection of studies quantifying DUNE's sensitivities to sterile neutrino mixing, heavy neutral leptons, non-standard interactions, CPT symmetry violation, Lorentz invariance violation, neutrino trident production, dark matter from both beam induced and cosmogenic sources, baryon number violation, and other new physics topics that complement those at high-energy colliders and significantly extend the present reach.

Abstract: The ProtoDUNE-SP detector is a single-phase liquid argon time projection chamber with an active volume of 7.2× 6.1× 7.0 m3. It is installed at the CERN Neutrino Platform in a specially-constructed beam that delivers charged pions, kaons, protons, muons and electrons with momenta in the range 0.3 GeV/c to 7 GeV/c. Beam line instrumentation provides accurate momentum measurements and particle identification. The ProtoDUNE-SP detector is a prototype for the first far detector module of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment, and it incorporates full-size components as designed for that module. This paper describes the beam line, the time projection chamber, the photon detectors, the cosmic-ray tagger, the signal processing and particle reconstruction. It presents the first results on ProtoDUNE-SP's performance, including noise and gain measurements, dE/dx calibration for muons, protons, pions and electrons, drift electron lifetime measurements, and photon detector noise, signal sensitivity and time resolution measurements. The measured values meet or exceed the specifications for the DUNE far detector, in several cases by large margins. ProtoDUNE-SP's successful operation starting in 2018 and its production of large samples of high-quality data demonstrate the effectiveness of the single-phase far detector design.

Abstract: The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment is a next-generation neutrino oscillation experiment that aims to measure CP-violation in the neutrino sector as part of a wider physics program. A deep learning approach based on a convolutional neural network has been developed to provide highly efficient and pure selections of electron neutrino and muon neutrino charged-current interactions. The electron neutrino (antineutrino) selection efficiency peaks at 90% (94%) and exceeds 85% (90%) for reconstructed neutrino energies between 2-5 GeV. The muon neutrino (antineutrino) event selection is found to have a maximum efficiency of 96% (97%) and exceeds 90% (95%) efficiency for reconstructed neutrino energies above 2 GeV. When considering all electron neutrino and antineutrino interactions as signal, a selection purity of 90% is achieved. These event selections are critical to maximize the sensitivity of the experiment to CP-violating effects.

16. Long-baseline neutrino oscillation physics potential of the DUNE experiment

Abstract: The sensitivity of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) to neutrino oscillation is determined, based on a full simulation, reconstruction, and event selection of the far detector and a full simulation and parameterized analysis of the near detector. Detailed uncertainties due to the flux prediction, neutrino interaction model, and detector effects are included. DUNE will resolve the neutrino mass ordering to a precision of 5σ, for all δCP values, after 2 years of running with the nominal detector design and beam configuration. It has the potential to observe charge-parity violation in the neutrino sector to a precision of 3σ (5σ) after an exposure of 5 (10) years, for 50% of all δCP values. It will also make precise measurements of other parameters governing long-baseline neutrino oscillation, and after an exposure of 15 years will achieve a similar sensitivity to sin 22 θ13 to current reactor experiments.

Abstract: A search for charge-parity (CP) violation in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays is reported, using pp collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.9 fb^{-1} collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. The flavor of the charm meson is inferred from the charge of the pion in D^{*}(2010)^{+}→D^{0}π^{+} decays or from the charge of the muon in B[over ¯]→D^{0}μ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{μ}X decays. The difference between the CP asymmetries in D^{0}→K^{-}K^{+} and D^{0}→π^{-}π^{+} decays is measured to be ΔA_{CP}=[-18.2±3.2(stat)±0.9(syst)]×10^{-4} for π-tagged and ΔA_{CP}=[-9±8(stat)±5(syst)]×10^{-4} for μ-tagged D^{0} mesons. Combining these with previous LHCb results leads to ΔA_{CP}=(-15.4±2.9)×10^{-4}, where the uncertainty includes both statistical and systematic contributions. The measured value differs from zero by more than 5 standard deviations. This is the first observation of CP violation in the decay of charm hadrons.

Abstract: A search is presented for a Higgs-like boson with mass in the range 45 to 195 GeV/c2 decaying into a muon and a tau lepton. The dataset consists of proton-proton interactions at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV , collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb-1 . The tau leptons are reconstructed in both leptonic and hadronic decay channels. An upper limit on the production cross-section multiplied by the branching fraction at 95% confidence level is set and ranges from 22 pb for a boson mass of 45 GeV/c2 to 4 pb for a mass of 195 GeV/c2 .

Abstract: The production rate and kinematics of photons produced in association with Z bosons are studied using 2fb-1 of pp̄ collision data collected at the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The cross section for pp̄→"+-γ+X (where the leptons " are either muons or electrons with dilepton mass M>40GeV/c2, and where the photon has transverse energy ETγ>7GeV and is well separated from the leptons) is 4.6±0.2(stat)±0.3(syst)±0.3(lum)pb, which is consistent with standard model expectations. We use the photon ET distribution from Zγ events where the Z has decayed to μ+μ -, e+e-, or νν̄ to set limits on anomalous (non standard model) trilinear couplings between photons and Z bosons. © 2010 The American Physical Society.

Abstract: The time-integrated untagged Dalitz plot of the three-body hadronic charmless decay B[over ¯]^{0}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} is studied using a pp collision data sample recorded with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^{-1}. The decay amplitude is described with an isobar model. Relative contributions of the isobar amplitudes to the B[over ¯]^{0}→K_{S}^{0}π^{+}π^{-} decay branching fraction and CP asymmetries of the flavor-specific amplitudes are measured. The CP asymmetry between the conjugate B[over ¯]^{0}→K^{*}(892)^{-}π^{+} and B^{0}→K^{*}(892)^{+}π^{-} decay rates is determined to be -0.308±0.062.

24. Studies of the resonance structure in D0→K∓π±π±π∓ decays

Abstract: Amplitude models are constructed to describe the resonance structure of D0→K-π+π+π- and D0→K+π-π-π+ decays using pp collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 . The largest contributions to both decay amplitudes are found to come from axial resonances, with decay modes D0→a1(1260)+K- and D0→K1(1270/1400)+π- being prominent in D0→K-π+π+π- and D0→K+π-π-π+ , respectively. Precise measurements of the lineshape parameters and couplings of the a1(1260)+ , K1(1270)- and K(1460)- resonances are made, and a quasi model-independent study of the K(1460)- resonance is performed. The coherence factor of the decays is calculated from the amplitude models to be RK3π=0.459±0.010(stat)±0.012(syst)±0.020(model) , which is consistent with direct measurements. These models will be useful in future measurements of the unitary-triangle angle γ and studies of charm mixing and CP violation.

Abstract: A search for the rare decay Σ^{+}→pμ^{+}μ^{-} is performed using pp collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies sqrt[s]=7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1}. An excess of events is observed with respect to the background expectation, with a signal significance of 4.1 standard deviations. No significant structure is observed in the dimuon invariant mass distribution, in contrast with a previous result from the HyperCP experiment. The measured Σ^{+}→pμ^{+}μ^{-} branching fraction is (2.2_{-1.3}^{+1.8})×10^{-8}, where statistical and systematic uncertainties are included, which is consistent with the standard model prediction.

Abstract: The ratio of branching fractions R(D^{*-})≡B(B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ})/B(B^{0}→D^{*-}μ^{+}ν_{μ}) is measured using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^{-1}. For the first time, R(D^{*-}) is determined using the τ-lepton decays with three charged pions in the final state. The B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ} yield is normalized to that of the B^{0}→D^{*-}π^{+}π^{-}π^{+} mode, providing a measurement of B(B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ})/B(B^{0}→D^{*-}π^{+}π^{-}π^{+})=1.97±0.13±0.18, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The value of B(B^{0}→D^{*-}τ^{+}ν_{τ})=(1.42±0.094±0.129±0.054)% is obtained, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fraction of the normalization mode. Using the well-measured branching fraction of the B^{0}→D^{*-}μ^{+}ν_{μ} decay, a value of R(D^{*-})=0.291±0.019±0.026±0.013 is established, where the third uncertainty is due to the limited knowledge of the branching fractions of the normalization and B^{0}→D^{*-}μ^{+}ν_{μ} modes. This measurement is in agreement with the standard model prediction and with previous results.

Abstract: A measurement is reported of the ratio of branching fractions R(J/ψ)=B(B_{c}^{+}→J/ψτ^{+}ν_{τ})/B(B_{c}^{+}→J/ψμ^{+}ν_{μ}), where the τ^{+} lepton is identified in the decay mode τ^{+}→μ^{+}ν_{μ}ν[over ¯]_{τ}. This analysis uses a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity recorded with the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. A signal is found for the decay B_{c}^{+}→J/ψτ^{+}ν_{τ} at a significance of 3 standard deviations corrected for systematic uncertainty, and the ratio of the branching fractions is measured to be R(J/ψ)=0.71±0.17(stat)±0.18(syst). This result lies within 2 standard deviations above the range of central values currently predicted by the standard model.

Abstract: A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays Bs0 → e±μ∓ and B0 → e±μ∓ is performed based on a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The observed yields are consistent with the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits on the branching fraction of the Bs0 → e±μ∓ decays are evaluated both in the hypotheses of an amplitude completely dominated by the heavy eigenstate and by the light eigenstate. Abstract: The ratios of the branching fractions of the decays Λc+ → pπ−π+, Λc+ → pK−K+, and Λc+ → pπ−K+ with respect to the Cabibbo-favoured Λc+ → pK−π+ decay are measured using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb experiment at a 7 TeV centre-of-mass energy and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1:ℬ(Λc+→p+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(7.44±0.08±0.18)%,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(1.70±0.03±0.03)%ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+)=(0.165±0.015±0.005)%,where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These results are the most precise measurements of these quantities to date. When multiplied by the world-average value for ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+), the corresponding branching fractions areℬ(Λc+→p+)=(4.72±0.05±0.11±0.25)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pK−K+)=(1.08±0.02±0.02±0.06)×10−3,ℬ(Λc+→pπ−K+)=(1.04±0.09±0.03±0.05)×10−4,where the final uncertainty is due to ℬ(Λc+→pK−π+).[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: A flavour-tagged decay-time-dependent amplitude analysis of Bs0 → (K+π−)(K−π+) decays is presented in the K±π∓ mass range from 750 to 1600MeV/c2. The analysis uses pp collision data collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1. Several quasi-two-body decay modes are considered, corresponding to K±π∓ combinations with spin 0, 1 and 2, which are dominated by the K0*(800)0 and K0*(1430)0, the K*(892)0 and the K2*(1430)0 resonances, respectively. The longitudinal polarisation fraction for the Bs0→K∗(892)°K¯∗(892)0 decay is measured as fL = 0.208 ± 0.032 ± 0.046, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The first measurement of the mixing-induced CP-violating phase, ϕsdd¯, in b→ dd¯ s transitions is performed, yielding a value of ϕsdd¯=−0.10±0.13(stat)±0.14 (syst) rad.

Abstract: The difference between the CP asymmetries in the decays Λc+ → pK−K+ and Λc+ → pπ−π+ is presented. Proton-proton collision data taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012 are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λc+ candidates are reconstructed as part of the Λb0 → Λc+μ−X decay chain. In order to maximize the cancellation of production and detection asymmetries in the difference, the final-state kinematic distributions of the two samples are aligned by applying phase-space-dependent weights to the Λc+ → pπ−π+ sample. This alters the definition of the integrated CP asymmetry to ACPwgt(pπ−π+). Both samples are corrected for reconstruction and selection efficiencies across the five-dimensional Λc+ decay phase space. The difference in CP asymmetries is found to be ΔACPwgt=ACP(pK−K+)−ACPwgt(pπ−π+)=(0.30±0.91±0.61)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: We report the measurements of the CP -violating parameters in Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure Cf = 0.73 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, AfΔΓ = 0.39 ± 0.28 ± 0.15, Af=0.31±0.28±0.15, Sf = −0.52 ± 0.20 ± 0.07, Sf¯= − 0.49 ± 0.20 ± 0.07 , where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the Bs0 mixing phase, −2βs, to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle γ from Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays, yielding γ = (128− 22+ 17)° modulo 180°, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 σ evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing.

Abstract: A search for the lepton-flavour violating decays Bs0 → e±μ∓ and B0 → e±μ∓ is performed based on a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1, collected with the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The observed yields are consistent with the background-only hypothesis. Upper limits on the branching fraction of the Bs0 → e±μ∓ decays are evaluated both in the hypotheses of an amplitude completely dominated by the heavy eigenstate and by the light eigenstate. The results are @@ℬ(Bs0→e)

Abstract: The difference between the CP asymmetries in the decays Λc+ → pK−K+ and Λc+ → pπ−π+ is presented. Proton-proton collision data taken at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV collected by the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012 are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. The Λc+ candidates are reconstructed as part of the Λb0 → Λc+μ−X decay chain. In order to maximize the cancellation of production and detection asymmetries in the difference, the final-state kinematic distributions of the two samples are aligned by applying phase-space-dependent weights to the Λc+ → pπ−π+ sample. This alters the definition of the integrated CP asymmetry to ACPwgt(pπ−π+). Both samples are corrected for reconstruction and selection efficiencies across the five-dimensional Λc+ decay phase space. The difference in CP asymmetries is found to be ΔACPwgt=ACP(pK−K+)−ACPwgt(pπ−π+)=(0.30±0.91±0.61)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: We report the measurements of the CP -violating parameters in Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays observed in pp collisions, using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb−1 recorded with the LHCb detector. We measure Cf = 0.73 ± 0.14 ± 0.05, AfΔΓ = 0.39 ± 0.28 ± 0.15, Af=0.31±0.28±0.15, Sf = −0.52 ± 0.20 ± 0.07, Sf¯= − 0.49 ± 0.20 ± 0.07 , where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. These parameters are used together with the world-average value of the Bs0 mixing phase, −2βs, to obtain a measurement of the CKM angle γ from Bs0 → Ds∓K± decays, yielding γ = (128− 22+ 17)° modulo 180°, where the uncertainty contains both statistical and systematic contributions. This corresponds to 3.8 σ evidence for CP violation in the interference between decay and decay after mixing.

Abstract: Searches are performed for both promptlike and long-lived dark photons, A^{'}, produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using A^{'}→μ^{+}μ^{-} decays and a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.6 fb^{-1} collected with the LHCb detector. The promptlike A^{'} search covers the mass range from near the dimuon threshold up to 70 GeV, while the long-lived A^{'} search is restricted to the low-mass region 214

Abstract: A search for charmless four-body decays of Λb0 and Ξb0 baryons with a proton and three charged mesons (either kaons or pions) in the final state is performed. The data sample used was recorded in 2011 and 2012 with the LHCb experiment and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb−1. Six decay modes are observed, among which Λb0 → pK−π+π−,Λb0 → pK−K+K−,Ξb0 → pK−π+π− and Ξb0 → pK−π+K− are established for the first time. Their branching fractions (including the ratio of hadronisation fractions in the case of the Ξb0 baryon) are determined relative to the Λb0 → Λc+π− decay.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: We report measurements of charm-mixing parameters based on the decay-time-dependent ratio of D0→K+π- to D0→K-π+ rates. The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb-1 recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2011 through 2016. Assuming charge-parity (CP) symmetry, the mixing parameters are determined to be x′2=(3.9±2.7)×10-5, y′=(5.28±0.52)×10-3, and RD=(3.454±0.031)×10-3. Without this assumption, the measurement is performed separately for D0 and D0 mesons, yielding a direct CP-violating asymmetry AD=(-0.1±9.1)×10-3, and magnitude of the ratio of mixing parameters 1.00

Abstract: Investigations of the existence of pentaquark states containing a single b (anti)quark decaying weakly into four specific final states J/ψK+π-p, J/ψK-π-p, J/ψK-π+p, and J/ψφ(1020)p are reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb-1 in 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions acquired with the LHCb detector. Signals are not observed and upper limits are set on the product of the production cross section times branching fraction with respect to that of the Λb0.

Abstract: The decay Z→bb¯ is reconstructed in pp collision data, corresponding to 2 fb−1 of integrated luminosity, collected by the LHCb experiment at a centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV. The product of the Z production cross-section and the Z→bb¯ branching fraction is measured for candidates in the fiducial region defined by two particle-level b-quark jets with pseudorapidities in the range 2.220 GeV and dijet invariant mass in the range 45

Abstract: A search is performed in the invariant mass spectrum of the Bc+π+π− system for the excited Bc+ states Bc(21S0)+ and Bc(23S1)+ using a data sample of pp collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at the centre-of-mass energy of s=8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2 fb−1. No evidence is seen for either state. Upper limits on the ratios of the production cross-sections of the Bc(21S0)+ and Bc(23S1)+ states times the branching fractions of Bc(21S0)+ → Bc+π+π− and Bc(23S1)+ → Bc*+π+π− over the production cross-section of the Bc+ state are given as a function of their masses. They are found to be between 0.02 and 0.14 at 95% confidence level for Bc(21S0)+ and Bc(23S1)+ in the mass ranges [6830, 6890] MeV/c2 and [6795, 6890] MeV/c2, respectively.[Figure not available: see fulltext.].

Abstract: Amplitude models are constructed to describe the resonance structure of D 0 → K - π + π + π - and D 0 → K + π - π - π + decays using pp collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV with the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 f b - 1 . The largest contributions to both decay amplitudes are found to come from axial resonances, with decay modes D 0 → a 1 ( 1260 ) + K - and D 0 → K 1 ( 1270 / 1400 ) + π - being prominent in D 0 → K - π + π + π - and D 0 → K + π - π - π + , respectively. Precise measurements of the lineshape parameters and couplings of the a 1 ( 1260 ) + , K 1 ( 1270 ) - and K ( 1460 ) - resonances are made, and a quasi model-independent study of the K ( 1460 ) - resonance is performed. The coherence factor of the decays is calculated from the amplitude models to be R K 3 π = 0.459 ± 0.010 ( stat ) ± 0.012 ( syst ) ± 0.020 ( model ) , which is consistent with direct measurements. These models will be useful in future measurements of the unitary-triangle angle γ and studies of charm mixing and C P violation.

Abstract: We report measurements of charm-mixing parameters based on the decay-time-dependent ratio of D0→K+π- to D0→K-π+ rates. The analysis uses a data sample of proton-proton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb-1 recorded by the LHCb experiment from 2011 through 2016. Assuming charge-parity (CP) symmetry, the mixing parameters are determined to be x′2=(3.9±2.7)×10-5, y′=(5.28±0.52)×10-3, and RD=(3.454±0.031)×10-3. Without this assumption, the measurement is performed separately for D0 and D0 mesons, yielding a direct CP-violating asymmetry AD=(-0.1±9.1)×10-3, and magnitude of the ratio of mixing parameters 1.00
