Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı Sınıf II subdivizyon maloklüzyonlardaki mandibular iskeletsel asimetrilerin prevalansını, Sınıf I ve Sınıf II maloklüzyonlarla karşılaşırmalı olarak belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya her biri 40’ar bireyden oluşan 3 grup dahil edilmiştir: bir Sınıf I oklüzyon grubu (14 erkek ve 26 kadın; yaş ortalaması 14.68±1.86), bir Sınıf II oküzyon grubu (12 erkek, 28 kadın ; yaş ortalaması 14.02±1.74), ve sınıf II subdivizyon oklüzyon grubu (19 erkek and 21 kadın; yaş ortalaması 14.32±2.42). Her bir hasta için panoramik radyogramlarda(OPG) sekiz doğrusal ve bir açısal ölçüm yapılmıştır. The aims of this study were to identify the possible sex differences in tooth size ratios between males and females, to determine whether there is a difference in the incidence of tooth size discrepancies for both the anterior and overall ratios when comparing with Angle Class I; Class II, division 1; Class II, division 2; and Class III malocclusion groups, to compare the tooth size ratios of different malocclusion groups with the anterior and overall tooth size ratios of 150 untreated normal occlusion subjects. In addition, the aim was to determine the percentage of tooth size discrepancies outside 2 SD from Bolton means for tooth ratios present in each malocclusion group and in the overall sample of this study. This study consisted of 150 subjects who served as the normal occlusion group and 560 patients who showed four different malocclusion characteristics (Angle Class I; Class II, division 1; Class II, division 2; and Class III). Tooth size measurements were performed on the models of normal occlusion and pretreatment models. For statistical evaluation, Student’s t-test, analysis of variance and Tukey Honestly Significant Difference tests were performed. A significant sex difference was found only in the overall ratio for normal occlusion subjects (P , .001). All malocclusion groups showed statistically significant higher overall ratios than the normal occlusion group (P , .001). There were no statistically significant differences among malocclusion groups; however, there were a large number of patients within each group who had discrepancies greater than 2 SD from the mean. Further investigations are needed to explain the probable racial differences and relationships between malocclusion and tooth size measurements.

This study aimed to develop cephalometric standards for Anatolian Turkish men and women. Fifty young men (mean age [ standard deviation], 22.61 1.22) and 55 young women (mean age, 22.14 1.44 years) were studied. All subjects were born to Turkish parents and grandparents and were 19 to 25 years old. All had Class I occlusions with minor or no crowding, normal growth and development, well-aligned maxillary and mandibular dental arches, all teeth present except third molars, good facial symmetry determined clinically and radiographically, no significant medical history, no history of trauma, no previous orthodontic or prosthodontic treatment, and no maxillofacial or plastic surgery. Twenty-five measurements (14 linear and 11 angular) were analyzed on each radiograph. Arithmetic mean and standard deviation were calculated for each measurement. For statistical evaluation, independent-samples t tests were performed. Our established values were compared with the norms of other investigators who studied facial esthetics. Significant racial differences were found in skeletal measurements (anterior nasal spine [ANS] to menton), dental measurements (maxillary incisor to sella-nasion plane, mandibular incisor to nasion-Point B line, and mandibular incisor to mandibular plane), and soft tissue measurements (H angle, upper lip to E plane, and upper lip to Steiner S line). Significant sex differences were found in the measurements condylion to A point, condylion to gnathion, ANS to menton, and nasion to ANS. It is appropriate to put these cephalometric norms into daily orthodontic practice when an Anatolian Turkish population is being treated.

Bu çalışmada, sonlu elemanlar metodunun biyomekanikte kullanıldığı bir durum için, modelinhazırlanmasının temel aşamaları ve elde edilen sonuçların geçerliliğinin tartışılması amaçlanmıştır. Birinsan mandibulasının sonlu elemanlar programında gerilme analizini yapmak için bilgisayar modelihazırlanmıştır. Bu amaçla 22 yaşındaki bir erkek mandibulasının bilgisayarlı tomografisi (CT) alınmış,elde edilen görüntüler bilgisayar ortamına aktarılmış ve mandibulanın 3 boyutlu sonlu elemanlarmodeli hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmada modelin hazırlanmasında izlenen adımlar detaylı olarak verilmiştir.Sonlu elemanlar metodu (FEM) ile analizde, mandibulanın kabuk ve tuğla-solid elemanlar kullanılarakelde edilen modelleri ile yapılan gerilme karşılaştırması da verilmiştir. Bu modeller değerlendirildiğindesolid ve kabuk elemanlarla yapılan modellerin yaklaşık aynı mekanik davranışı yansıttığı belirlenmiştir.Kabuk elemanlarla hazırlanan modelin kolay elde ediliyor olması nedeniyle daha kullanışlı olduğugörülmüştür., In this study use of the finite element method in biomechanics, and an explanation of basicsteps of preparing a FEM model of a mandible, a discussion of the validity of results is the objective. Acomputer FEM model of a mandible is prepared from a real human mandible and stress analysis wasconducted. For this purpose CT sections of the mandible of a 22 year old male was obtained and theimages were scanned and transferred to the computer. In the study the steps of preparing a FEM modelof a human skeleton is explained in detail. By using them a 3 D model of the mandible prepared. One ofthe models is prepared with solid elements; the other is prepared with shell elements. The same loadingswere applied to both of them. The results are compared and it is concluded that there is no importantdifferences between them.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, 1. Sınıf II, Bölüm 1 mandibuler retrognati vakalarında uygulanan üst iki premolar çekimli kom-panzasyon tedavilerinin, yumuşak dokuda meydana getirdiği değişimlerin, Holdaway yumuşak doku analizi ile belirlenmesi, 2. Tedavi süresince kız ve erkek bireyler arasında meydana gelen cinsiyete bağlı farklılıkların ayırt edilmesi, 3. Elde edilen değerlerin, Holdaway yumuşak doku Türk normları ile karşılaştırılmasıdır. iskeletsel Sınıf II, dental Sınıf II, Bölüm 1 maloklüzyona sahip 14 erkek (tedavi başı yaş ortalaması 16,071,08 yıl), 14 kız (tedavi başı yaş ortalaması 17,051,05 yıl) toplam 28 bireye (ortalama 17,001,06 yıl) ait lateral sefalometrik film araştırma kapsamına alındı. Tedavi başı ve sonunda alınmış her film üzerinde Holdaway'in tanımlamaları doğrultusunda 10 lineer ve 2 açısal ölçüm yapıldı. Verilerin istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmesi sırasında eşleştirilmiş t-testi ve student t-testi uygulandı. Tedavi süresince yumuşak doku sub-nazal-H çizgisi, H açısı, üst dudak sulkus derinliği, iskeletsel profil konveksitesi ve üst dudak gerginliği ölçümlerinde azalma; burun uzunluğu, üst dudak kalınlığı ve yumuşak doku çene ucu kalınlığı ölçümlerinde ise artma belirlenmiştir. Tedavi başı ve tedavi sonunda meydana gelen değişikliklerde cinsiyet farklılığı sadece burun uzunluğu ve H açısı ölçümlerinde saptanmıştır. Gerçekleştirilen üst iki premolar çekimli ortodontik tedavilerin; yumuşak doku fasiyal açı, burun uzunluğu, yumuşak doku subhazal-H çizgisi, temel üst dudak kalınlığı, üst dudak kalınlığı ve H açısı ölçümlerinde Türk normlarına yaklaşacak yönde istenen düzeyde değişimler meydana getirdiği tespit edilmiştir. To determine the changes in soft tissues with Holdaway soft tissue analysis of Class II Division 1 mandibular retrognathie patients treated with upper two first pre-molars extraction, 2. To investigate the sexual differences between pre- and post-treatment values of boy and girl subjects, 3. To compare these values with the Holdaway soft tissue Turkish norms. The study group comprised the lateral cephalograms of 14 boys (mean age: 16.071.08 years) and 14 girls (mean age: 17.05±1.05 years) totally 28 (mean age: 17.00±1.06 years), skeletal Class II, dental Class II division 1 patients. Ten linear and 2 angular measurements were analyzed according to the definition provided by Holdaway on pre and post treatment radiographs. For statistical evaluation paired samples t-test and student t-test were performed. Soft tissue subnasale to H line, H angle, upper lip sulcus depth, skeletal profile convexity and upper lip strain measurements decreased and nose prominence, upper lip thickness and soft tissue chin thickness measurements increased during treatment period. Statistically sig¬nificant sex differences were only found in nose prominence and H angle measurements between pre- and post-treatment val¬ues. In the comparison of these values with Holdaway soft tis¬sue Turkish norms, soft tissue facial angle, nose prominence, soft tissue subnasale to H line, basic upper lip tWekhess, upper lip thickness and H angle measurements become closer to the Turkish norms. All changes were desirable for improvement of patients' soft tissue profile with extraction of upper two first pre-molars. The results of this study indicated that, generalizations concerning the negative effects of extraction compensations treatments on the, profile of Class II Division 1 mandibular ret-rognathie patients are not true. It is necessary to investigate this difference in further investigations, using the parameters for soft-tissue analysis, need to be repeated with a larger sample.

Ortodontik braketlerin çevresinde zamanla oluşan dem-ineralizasyon halen klinik açıdan önemli bir problemdir. Son yıllarda geliştirilen antibakteriyel bonding ajanların, kavitede kalan bakteriler ve mikro sızıntı sebebiyle oluşan bakteriyel invazyona karşı bakterisid etki göstererek ikincil çürük oluşumunu engelleyebilecekleri bildirilmektedir. Benzer şekilde ortodontik braketler çevresinde de bakteriyel metabolizmanın engellenmesi çürük oluşumunun önüne geçebilecektir. Bu sebeple bu çalışmada antibakteriyel özelliğe sahip olan bir bonding ajanı ile, iki farklı yöntemle uygulanan bonding ajanlarının, ortodontik braket çevresinde deneysel suni demineralizasyon ortamıyla yaratılmaya çalışılan demineralizasyona olan etkileri, bahsedilen bonding ajanlarla diş yüzeyine yapıştırılan braketlerin bağlanma derecelerinde farklılık yaratıp yaratmadığının tespitiyle araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla çekimden hemen sonra, çürüksüz ve mine yüzeyinde kırık ve çatlakları olmayan 60 adet insan pre-molar dişi kullanıldı. Braketler antibakteriyel MDPB monomeh içeren Clearfill ABF Bond, aynı materyalin MDPB monomer içermeyen formu olan Clearfill SE Bond ve Transbond Plus bonding ajanlarıylâ dişlerin bukkal yüzeylerine kompozit rezin aracılığıyla yapıştırıldı. Tüm dişler 14 gün boyunca deneysel dekalsifikasyon solüsyonunda bırakıldı. Ardından tüm braketler test cihazında çekme-koparma işlemine tabi tutuldu. Veriler istatistiksel olarak varyans analizi, Tukey HSD testi ve ki-kare analizi aracılığıyla değerlendirildi. Varyans analizi, değerlendirilen gruplar arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılıkların olduğunu göstermektedir. (p0,05). Elde edilen ortalama bağlanma dayanımları diğet çalışmalar ile karşılaştırıldığında klinik olarak kabul edilebilir derecede bulunmuştur. Ancak, çalışma sonuçlarımız Clearfill ABF bond ile yapıştırılan braketlerin diğer gruplara göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde düşük bağlanma dayanımına sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Uygulanan 3 farklı adeziv sistem, braketlerin kopma karakteristiklerini de önemli derecede etkilemektedir., Demineralization around the brackets during orthodontic treatment is still a major problem in orthodontics. It has been reported that antibacterial bonding agents that were developed in recent years act as an antibacterial agent against bacteria that was left in the cavity and bacterial invasion resulting from micro leakage. Similarly, with the prevention of bacterial growth around orthodontic brackets caries formation could be prevent¬ed. For this reason the effects of an antibacterial bonding agent on artificial demineralization around brackets were investigated by means of bond strength evaluation. The material of this study consisted of 60 freshly extracted human premolar teeth that had no cracks or fractures. Brackets were bonded to buccal surfaces of teeth using Clearfill ABF bond that consisted of MDPB and Clearfill SE Bond and Transbond Plus bonding agents that does not contain MDPB but has the same chemical composition as Clearfill ABF Bond. All the teeth were left in experimental decalcification solution for 14 days. At the end of this period, all the brackets were tested in a universal test machine. The aim of this study was to compare the dentoskeletal effects of a modified acrylic-bonded rapid maxillary expansion (RME) device when it is used in the mixed and permanent dentitions. The study group consisted of 51 patients in the mixed and permanent dentition (26 girls and 25 boys) who underwent RME treatment. Group 1 was composed of 34 subjects in the mixed dentition (19 girls and 15 boys; mean age, 9.2 6 1.3 years). Group 2 consisted of 17 subjects in the permanent dentition (seven girls and 10 boys; mean age 12.7 6 1.2 years). Lateral and frontal cephalograms and upper dental casts were collected before treatment (T1), after treatment (T2), and after retention (T3). Intragroup and intergroup changes were evaluated by paired t-test and Student’s t-test, respectively. In both groups after RME, the maxilla moved forward; mandible rotated posteriorly; facial height increased; nasal, maxillary, and maxillary intercanine and first molar widths increased; and the upper molars tipped buccally. Almost all these significant changes were stable at follow-up (T3). When overall (T1 2 T3) differences were considered, upper molars tipped more, and the ANB angle increased less in the mixed dentition group compared with the permanent dentition group (P , .01). Within the limits of this study, the results suggest that the orthopedic effects of RME are not as great as expected at early ages, and it might be a better alternative to delay RME to early permanent dentition.

Araştırma; rapid palatal ekspansiyon uygulanan vakalarda genişletmenin tamamlanmasının hemen ardından apareyin sökülüp aynı apareyle pekiştirmenin planlandığı 1 saat içerisinde ortaya çıkan, interkanin ve intermolar mesafelerdeki relaps miktarını belirleyebilmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu amaçla, rapid palatal ekspansiyon planlanan, ortalama yaşları 12,55 olan 16 kız 7 erkek toplam 23 birey araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Genişletme sonu ve bir saat sonraki değerlerin istatistiksel önemi eşleştirilmiş t-testi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Sonuçta bir saatlik süre içerisinde meydana gelen relapsın istatistiksel olarak an-lamlı görülmüş ve intermolar mesafede meydana gelen daralma-nın ise daha fazla olduğu belirlenmiştir. Buradan yola çıkılarak RPE işlemi tamamlanmış bireylerde kazanılmış olan mevcut du-rumun geri dönmesini engellemek amacıyla bir takım önlemlerin alınmasının gerekli olduğu düşünülmektedir., The purpose of this study was to determine the quantity of relapse in the intercanine and intermolar widths that occur in öne hour time in the rapid palatal expansion applied cases vvhere the appliance used is planned to be used for retention right after the completion of the R.P.E. procedure. The study consisted of 23 individuals including 16 girls and 7 boys at a mean age of 12.55 years. The statistical significance of the post expansion and after öne hour time values were evaluated using paired t test. in conclusion, the relapse that occurred within one hour time was found to be statistically significant and it was observed that the decrease in the intermolar width was greater than that in the intercanine width. The result of this study suggests that preventive measures must be taken in order to avoid relapse after the completion of R.P.E. procedure.

Birçok çalışmada, hyoid kemik pozisyonunun, değişen mandibular pozisyon veya baş postürü ile ilişkili olarak farklılık gösterdiği belirtilmiştir. Araştırmanın amacı, sınıf II bölüm 2 anomaliye sahip bireylerde, hyoid kemik pozisyonunu antero-posterior ve vertikal yönde değerlendirmek aynı zamanda iskeletsel sınıf l maloklüzyona sahip bireylerle karşılaştırmaktır. Bu çalışma iskeletsel ve dental sınıf l maloklüzyona sahip, normal büyüme yönü gösteren 12 kız 7 erkek toplam 19 bireye (yaş ört. 13,4 1,5) ait lateral sefalometrik filmler ile iskeletsel sınıf II, dental sınıf II bölüm 2 maloklüzyona sahip 14 kız 5 erkek toplam 19 bireye (yaş ört. 13,5 2,2) ait lateral sefalometrik filmler üzerinde yürütüldü. Hyoid kemik konumunu belirlemek amacıyla, 9 sagital, 5 vertikal, 5 açısal; toplam 21 ölçümden yararlanıldı. Yapılan ölçümlerin istatistiksel olarak değerlendirilmesi student t testi ile yapıldı. Ayrıca metot hatası Dahlberg formülü ile hesaplandı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesi sonucunda hyoid kemiği-nin, sınıf II bölüm 2 grubunda, sagital yönde, daha geride; ver-tikal yönde, üst referans düzlemlerine daha yakın; açısal olarak ise, yer düzlemine daha paralel bir konum arz ettiği belirlendi, ancak bu değerlerin hiçbirisinin istatistiksel olarak önemli dü-zeyde olmadığı görüldü. Sonuç olarak, sınıf II bölüm 2 anomali grubu ile sınıf 1 grubu arasında hyoid kemik konumu açısından önemli bir fark bulunmamakla beraber rakamsal olarak sınıf IIbölüm 2 grubunda hyoid konumu vakanın genel özelliklerini yansıtır tarzdadır., Various studies have documented a variability of hyoid bone position in relation to changed mandibular position or head posture. The aim of this study was to investigate the hyoid bone position and inclination on the cephalometric radiographs of two groups of patients exhibiting Class l normal occlusion and Class II division 2 malocclusions. This study was carried out on two groups. The first group consisted of 19 lateral cephalometric radiographs of 12 giriş and 7 boys (mean age: 13.4 ± 1.5) shovvs skeletally and dentally Class l and normal grovvth pattern. The second group consisted of 19 lateral cephalometric radiographs of 14 giriş and 5 boys (mean age 13.5 ± 2.2) shovvs skeletally and dentally Class II division 2 malocclusion. Nine sagital, 5 vertical and 5 angular, totally 21 measurements were used to determine the position of the hyoid bone. t test was performed for statistical evaluation. Method error was estimated by Dahlberg's formula. The findings revealed that in Class II division 2 patients, the hyoid bone was more retrusive in sagital plane, nearer to the upper reference plane in vertical plane, and more parallel to the ground plane. However no statistically significant differences were found. As a conclusion, there were no statistically significant differences exist betvveen Class II division 2 patients and Class l group. Besides some insignificant differences reflects the characteristic properties of Class II division 2 patients.

Ortodontik maloklüzyona sahip ve ortodonti kliniğine tedavi olmak için başvurmuş bireylerde görülen ortodontik maloklüzyon tiplerinin, spesifik anomali dağılımlarının tespit edilmesi ve çekimli-çekimsiz tedavilerin uygulanma sıklığının belirlenmesi amacıyla bu çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Selçuk Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Ortodonti A.D.'da, Ekim 1998-Temmuz 2002 dönemi içinde tedaviye alınmış, 1602 birey araştırma kapsamına alındı. Vaka kayıt raporlarından, ortodontik maloklüzyonlar, spesifik anomaliler (open bite, konjenital diş eksikliği, gömülü kaninler, polidiastemalar), spesifik tedavi tipleri (ortognatik cerrahi uygulamaları, erişkin ve bebek dudak damak yarığı tedavileri, temporomandibuler eklem hastalıklarının tedavisi) ve ortodontik amaçla uygulanan çekim açısından tedavi yöntemleri belirlendi. Anomali tiplerinin belirlenmesinde Angle sınıflandırması göz önünde bulunduruldu. Genel olarak, vakaların % 61,69'unun Sınıfl, %28,07'sinin Sınıf II, %10,24'ünün Sınıf III maloklüzyona sahip olduğu belirlenirken; vakaların % 34,49'unun tedavisi çekim/i % 65,51'inin tedavisinin ise çekimsiz olarak yapıldığı belirlendi. Spesifik anomalilerden; open bite % 2,68, gömülü kanin % 2,18, polidiastema % 1,62, konjenital diş eksikliği % 3,05 oranında tespit edildi. Spesifik tedavi tiplerinden olan ortognatik cerrahi uygulamalarının %1,37, dudak damak yangı tedavisinin % 5,49, eklem tedavisinin ise % 5,36 oranında uygulandığı saptanmıştır. Bu değerlendirmeler ışığında, klinik hasta verilerinin belirli periyatlarda tekrar gözden geçirilip karşılaştırılmasının uygun olacağı sonucuna varıldı., Epidemiology deals with the population rather than the individual and its objectives are to classify the diseases and to determine the ways of prevention. The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of malocclusion types in individuals who requested to receive treatment and to find out the ways in which the treatments are made. The study comprised 1602 patients vvhose treatments were performed betvveen the dates October 1998 and July 2002 in Selçuk University, Faculty of Dentistry, and Department of Orthodontics. Malocclusion types of the patients and the treatment methods to be applied were determined from case records. Malocclusion types were defined according to Angle's classification and treatment alternatives and the methods for treatment were determined according to the results of the case meetings. The malocclusion types of the subjects for this study were Class l (61.69%), Class II (28.07%), and Class III (10.24%). While 34.49% of the patients were treated by extraction therapy, 65.51 % of them were treated by non-extraction therapy. The frequency of the specific anomalies was determined as follovvs: öpen bite 2.68%, impacted canine 2.18 %, polidiastema patients 1.62%, congenitally absent teeth cases 3.05% Class l was the most frequent malocclusion type. it was observed that the non extraction therapy was applied 2 times as frequent as extraction therapy. in the light of these findings, the clinic patient datas should be determined and compared in some periods.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı unilateral tam dudak damak yarığına (UDDY) sahip hastaların farengeal hava yolu alanı, yumuşak damak ölçümleri ve kraniyoservikal postürünün değerlendirilmesi ve bu değerlerin dudak damak yarığına sahip olmayan kontrol grubu hastaları ile karşılaştırılmasıdır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışmaya rastgele ve retrospektif olarak seçilen 60 hasta dahil edilmiştir ve 2 gruba ayrılmıştır. Birinci grup UDDY (30 hasta; ortalama yaş, 15,07 ± 5,61 yıl), ikinci grup ise DDY olmayan iskeletsel Sınıf I (30 hasta; ortalama yaş, 16,34 ± 3,18 yıl) hastalardan oluşmaktadır. Hastalardan alınan lateral sefalometrik filmler üzerinde farengeal hava yolu alanları, yumuşak damak ölçümleri ve kraniyoservikal postür açıları hesaplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin gruplar arası karşılaştırmasında bağımsız T-testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: UDDY grubundaki hastaların kontrol grubuna kıyasla önemli ölçüde daha küçük toplam ve aerial nazofarengeal alana sahip olduğu bulunmuştur (P 0,05). Sonuç: UDDY sahip hastaların toplam ve aerial nazofarengeal alanları kontrol grubuna göre daha küçüktür. Bu nedenle bu hastalarda tedavi planlaması yapılırken farengeal hava yolu üzerine pozitif bir etkiye sahip olmasına dikkat edilmelidir., Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the pharyngeal airway area, soft palate measurements and craniocervical posture of patients with unilateral cleft lip palate (UCLP) and compare these with control group patients who do not have a cleft. Methods: Sixty patients randomly and retrospectively selected were included in the study and divided into 2 groups. The first group consisted of UCLP patients (30 patients, mean age, 15.07 ± 5.61 years) and the second group consisted of skeletal Class I patients with no cleft (30 patients, mean age, 16.34 ± 3.18 years). The pharyngeal airway areas, soft palate measurements and craniocervical posture angles were calculated on the lateral cephalometric films taken from the patients. Independent T-test was used to compare the data between groups. Results: Patients in the UCLP group were found to have significantly smaller total and aerial nasopharyngeal area than the control group (P 0,05). Conclusion: The total and the aerial nasopharyngeal areas of patients with UCLP are smaller than the control group. Therefore, care should be taken to ensure that there is a positive effect on the pharyngeal airway when treatment planning is performed in these patients.

Bu çalışmanın amacı; bilateral crossbite'a sahip hastalarda hızlı üst çene genişletmesinin ses ve nazal fonksiyon üzerindeki etkilerini değerlendirmektir. Çalışmamız prospektif kontrollü klinik bir çalışma olarak dizayn edilmiştir. Çalışma ve kontrol grubu 20 kişiden oluşmak üzere toplamda 40 birey çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Tüm hastalardan T1 ve T2'de akustik ses örnekleri alınmıştır. Kontrol grubu için T1 başlangıç; çalışma grubu için ise hızlı üst çene genişletme apareyi ağza yapıştırılmadan hemen öncedir. T2 ise, kontrol grubu için ilk ölçümden 4 hafta sonrayı; çalışma grubu için ise retansiyon bittikten aparey ağızdan uzaklaştırıldıktan hemen sonrayı ifade etmektedir. Çalışmamızda ses analizi için, CSL (Kay Elemetrics, Lincoln Park NJ, USA) ve Multi-Dimensional Voice (MDVP Model 5105) programı kullanıldı. Çalışma ve kontrol grubu arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmemiştir (p>0,05). Hızlı üst çene genişletmesi ses kalitesi ve rezonansta herhangi bir değişikliğe yol açmadığı için hastalarda güvenle uygulanabilir. Çalışmamızda tüm akustik rinometri ölçümleri oda sıcaklığında (20º) yapılmıştır. Kayıt işlemine başlamadan önce hastalar 15 dk dinlendirildi ve cihaz kalibre edildi. Kalibrasyondan sonra burun adaptörü, hastalar otururken burun deliğine yerleştirildi. Akustik rinometrideburun deliğinden herbir nazal kavite için 2,2 ve 5,4 cm uzaklıklardaki kesit alanları (Ortalama kesit alanı [MCA]1 ve 2) ve hacimler (VOL1 ve 2) değerlendirilmiştir. AR ölçümleri tüm hastalara T1 ve T2 de yapılmıştır. Hızlı üst çene genişletmesi uygulanan grupta MCA1, MCA2 ve VOL1 değerlerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir artış saptanmıştır (p0,05). Amaç: Malatya bölgesinde ortodontik anomalilerin Angle sınıflamasına göredeğerlendirilmesi ve ortodontik tedavi ihtiyaçlarının ICON indeksine görebelirlenmesi.Materyal ve Metot: Çalışma grubumuz, Malatya bölgesindeki Milli EğitimBakanlığı'na bağlı okullardaki gönüllü 514 öğrenci (1. grup) ile İnönü ÜniversitesiDiş Hekimliği Fakültesi Ortodonti Kliniği'ne başvuran 514 hasta (2. grup) olmaküzere, toplamda 1028 örnekten oluşmaktadır. Her 2 çalışma gurubundaki bireylerinortodontik modelleri, 3 boyutlu Ağız içi tarama cihazı (3 Shape Trios) kullanılarakelde edilmiştir. Bu modeller kullanılarak: Angle sınıflamasına göre ortodontik problemler (Sınıf I-II-III)belirlenmiştir, Ortodontik tedavi ihtiyaç oranları, İCON indeksine göredeğerlendirilmiştir, Angle Sınıf I-II-III malokluzyonlarda, ortodontik tedavi ihtiyaçları ICONindeksine göre belirlenmiştir.Bulgular: Çalışmamızda 1. grupta Angle sınıflamasına göre; %52.1 sınıf I,%43.8 sınıf II, %4.1 Sınıf III anomali görülmüştür. 2. Grupta Angle sınıflamasınagöre, %31.5 sınıf I, %54.3 sınıf II, %14.2 Sınıf III anomali görülmüştür.Çalışmamızda İCON indeksine göre; 1. grupta %35.4 ve 2. Grupta %80.9ortodontik tedavi ihtiyacı olduğu bulunmuştur. ICON indeksine göre; 1. grupta%19.3 Sınıf I anomalilerde, %52 Sınıf II anomalilerde, %57.2 Sınıf III anomalilerdeortodontik tedavi ihtiyacı olduğu belirlenmiştir. 2. grupta %74.7 Sınıf I anomalilerde,%82 sınıf II anomalilerde, %89.1 Sınıf III anomalilerde ortodontik tedavi ihtiyacıolduğu belirlenmiştirSonuç: ICON indekse göre ortodontik tedavi ihtiyacı; popülasyonda (1.grup), fakültemize (2. grup) başvuran hastalardan daha az görülmekle birlikte,popülasyondaki ortodontik tedavi ihtiyacının büyük bir oran teşkili ettiğisöylenebilir.Populasyon oranı düşünüldüğünde; bölgemizde ortodontik tedaviihtiyaçlarının karşılanması mümkün değildir. Orthodontic models of each 2 working group ofindividuals have been obtained through using 3D Intraoral scanning device (3 ShapeTrios). Through using these models: Orthodontics problems have been identified according to Angel classification(Clas I-II-III) The rates of Orthodontics treatment needs have been evaluated according tothe ICON index, Orthodontic treatment needs and its degree of difficulty have been setforth according to the Angle classification (Class I-II-III).Results: In our study, for the first group %52,1 Class I, %43,8 Class II, %4,1Class III anomaly have been observed according to the Angle classification.In our study, according to ICON index in the firts group %35.4 and in thesecond group %80,9 orthodontics treatment needs have been found.According to ICON index; in the first group %19,3 Class I anomalies, %52Class II anomalies/ abnormalities, %57,2 Class III anomalies orthodontics treatmentneeds have been identified. In the second group, %74,7 Class I anomalies, %82 ClassII anomalies, %89,1 Class III anomalies orthodontics treatment needs have beenidentified.Conclusion: While Orthodontics treatment needs according to ICONindex in the population (Group I) less frequent than the patients (Group II) admittedto our faculty, Orthodontics treatment needs constitute a large proprtionin thepopulation.When population rate taken into consideration, it is impossible to fulfil theOrthodontics treatment needs in our region.Orthodontics problems should be reduced In order to decrease the orthdonticstreatment needs.
