Utilization of local food in the economic crisis is a concept in the economic field that prioritizes human resources who have knowledge and creative ideas as a strategy to advance the community's economy. There are problems in Karangjatianyar Village residents such as unemployment, one of which is due to layoffs (Termination of Employment), the work program chosen is the utilization of local food as a new business opportunity in the economic crisis, namely increasing economic efforts by utilizing sweet corn processed into JaSuKe, utilizing Cassava plants so as to increase economic efforts by making Cassava chips, home businesses utilizing spicy dried noodles, tomato cultivation to improve the economy in the economic crisis. This work program involves cooperation between the village head, household heads, Cassava chip business owners, noodle home business owners, and tomato plant cultivation owners as well as local residents. With the efforts made in Karangjatianyar Village, it is hoped that it can continue to be developed by local residents to help improve the economy. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In developing economies, which aim to join the European Union in the upcoming future, entrepreneurial endeavors are important and defining for their economic growth. Most of the time, potential investors are incentivized to choose a particular market through tax benefits, tax exemptions, streamlined registration procedures, tax systems and less red tape. By means of panel data modeling, we investigated the relationship between entrepreneurship and taxation-related matters on a sample of six economies from the Western Balkans region during the period 1991‒2021. Overall, empirical results showed that increasing registration costs hindered the creation of new businesses in the region. Still, if other taxes payable by businesses increased while authorities provided substantial tax reliefs, the creation of new companies would continue. At national level, we found that taxation often fuels entrepreneurship and improves new business density rates. Relevant policy implications are also addressed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

It is commonplace that nowadays a housewife becomes a business actor and only deals with gadgets without having a physical store with only gadgets and knowledge of e- commerce to market her selling products. With the many benefits of using e-commerce, e-commerce training was carried out to market innovative products processed by squid as a business opportunity for fishermen housewives in Lamu village, Batudaa Pantai sub-district, Gorontalo Regency. The stages in this activity include observation and interviews, activity planning, implementation, and the output is a marketplace account that has been created by activity participants. The implementation of the activity was divided into 2 sessions, namely session 1 providing material related to the general description of e-commerce and session 2 conducting hands-on practice on creating a marketplace accompanied by a community service team. The e-commerce training by creating a marketplace account and selling processed squid products for fishermen housewives was successfully carried out and received great appreciation and enthusiasm from the participants and the government of Lamu village. This is a business opportunity for fishermen housewives as well as adding knowledge and insight for participants to use e-commerce in selling processed squid products.

Despite being acknowledged as the primary catalyst for economic development, entrepreneurship in emerging markets contends with multiple constraints. The availability of unexploited business opportunities certainly raises the entrepreneurial potential of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Entrepreneurial orientation strategy strongly supports SMEs to improve their position in the market by instilling the courage to explore new prospects and take risks, promote innovation, act proactively on the market, and establish autonomy and competitive aggressiveness as norms in their operations. This research focuses on the entrepreneurial orientation approach as a key firm-level phenomenon and its influence on business performance in emerging markets. More specifically, the study elaborates on SMEs' risk-taking, innovativeness, pro-activeness, autonomy, and competitive aggressiveness under the moderating influence of unexploited opportunities. A multiple-case study technique was used to develop the five propositions generated from the conceptual framework of the study. Six companies operating in the private healthcare sector in North Macedonia actively participated in the research, contributing a substantial body of data. According to the study findings, the unexploited opportunities have a reasonably large effect on SMEs' entrepreneurial orientation activities and corresponding performance. Nonetheless, despite the hostile entrepreneurial environment, SMEs have demonstrated boldness in taking risks, initiating innovation, and continuity in taking proactive actions in the private healthcare industry. Industrial waste generation is proportional to the demand and the consumption of goods and services because industries need to increase the raw material to satisfy this demand, increasing their waste. The production process generates waste as undesirable output; sometimes, this waste is very significant, as in the case of the food service providers industry. In this context, this work aims to propose a methodological framework to transform this waste into co-products and generate business opportunities considering the sustainable development goals proposed in the UN 2030 agenda. The methodology merges reverse logistics and system dynamics principles to propose a seven-stage procedure: (i) distribution process analysis, (ii) description of variables and parameters, (iii) causal loop diagram construction, (iv) Forrester diagram creation, (v) simulation, (vi) scenario construction through sensitivity analysis and (vii) GUI. Graphical User Interface development. The case study addressed is a food service provider company located in Sonora, Mexico. The results show that the waste can be used as raw material and generate business opportunities with a considerable profit margin, e.g., if waste reuse rate is 35%, it means that these wastes can be used in manufacture of biofuel (11 k/month–$35 k), compost (7.5 ton/month–$13.1 k) and soap (1.96 k/month–$69.6 k). Limited land, environmental contamination, the loss of agricultural culture, and the inability to use ethnobotany all contribute to the health problems city dwellers face. These problems cause air pollution, lack of a good diet, loss of traditional knowledge, and underutilization of natural therapeutic plants. Ethnobotany and urban farming can create healthier cities by maintaining biodiversity, socially enhancing community involvement, and economically offering local business opportunities and sustainable food security. This study aims to investigate the perception of urban communities regarding the relationship between the planet, people, and profit with ethnobotanical practices and urban farming in achieving the concept of “city healing”. This research uses the primary method of case and explanatory studies, purposive location determination of five major cities in Indonesia, with 150 respondents. The structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the model, while the partial least squares (PLS) was used to analyze survey data with interviews and observations. The results showed that people, the planet, and profit generally have excellent and significant effects on urban farming ethnobotany. For small business entrepreneurs in rural areas to survive in the digital contexts, research is essential on the challenges they face and how these challenges can become opportunities for other entrepreneurs. In this study, small business entrepreneurship opportunities at a township in the Eastern Cape were explored. The basis of the study was that entrepreneurship opportunities are embedded in business challenges and entrepreneurs who can provide services or products that address identified challenges can have viable entrepreneurship ventures. The study used two-phased sequential interviews to collect data to address the purpose of the study, which was: to explore the small business entrepreneurship opportunities in the Eastern Cape in the context of digitalisation. In the first interview challenges, faced by 60 entrepreneurs at an identified small business Mall, were recorded, and the most common challenges were noted. After noting the most common challenges and suggestions for possible business opportunities, associated with addressing the challenges, interviews with eight entrepreneurs in the Mall were then undertaken to gather more information. The study found evidence that small business entrepreneurship opportunities existed in areas related to providing essential support services, such as small business education and training, infopreneurship, and digital infrastructure retailing including providing alternative power options, such as solar power for the enterprises. With the high unemployment and high rate of small business failure, the study recommends the effective exploitation of the identified business opportunities to ensure that existing enterprises survive and new ventures also arise. Sedayu Village, Tulung District, Klaten Regency is a rural area, where there is still a lot of vacant land that is not used. In fact, almost every resident in Sedayu has a large and productive yard or vacant land to use. In order to optimize the vacant land, it is necessary to carry out an aquaponics program, namely for the cultivation of catfish and kale. This program is expected to strengthen food and open up business opportunities for the community, so that the level of welfare in Sedayu can increase. The rapid evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the greatest challenges in today's society, affecting all sectors of activity but also economic and social systems around the world. The spread of the crisis has been impossible to stop in time due to globalization and the sharp development that society has reached in 2020. Thus the Covid 19 crisis has affected thousands of lives and continues to put enormous pressure on medical and economic systems, and the effects will be visible a long time from now on. Multiple procedures, such as closing schools and limiting populations to their houses, set extensive and observable costs on society; nevertheless, their advantages cannot be instantly monitored and are presently comprehended only via process-based simulations. History shows that rapid change brings many dangers but also many opportunities. For these reasons, it is necessary to manage economic and social problems as soon as possible and to support solutions that will support the sectors affected by the pandemic crisis. In Romania, the crisis began to be felt in March 2020, when following an announcement on TV the SME sector was put on hold. This research examines the SME sector before and after the Covid 19 crisis, presenting the effects and opportunities offered by the pandemic. Finally, a series of solutions are presented that can be implemented to revive the economy

The study analyzes the entrepreneurial attributes of Venezuelan migrants settled in Gramalote (Norte de Santander Department, Colombia) that explain the perception and ability to seize opportunities (as a dependent variable) and the sociodemographic and contextual characteristics (independent variables). The research adopted a positivist paradigm and a quantitative approach to obtain data from a survey conducted with 88 Venezuelan migrants. A bivariate analysis was carried out for data processing, and the categories of variables were grouped to be treated statistically using multinomial logistic regression. It is recommended that public policies on migration for the inclusion of Venezuelan entrepreneurs in Colombia consider the following entrepreneurial attributes: educational level, employment generation, efficiency and quality, compliance and responsibility, information seeking, and support networks since these attributes are associated with the likelihood of perception and capacity to seize business opportunities. Poland's natural and geographical features, including an abundance of rivers and lakes, create favorable conditions for the development of kayaking tourism. Poland is one of the leading European countries in terms of the number of kayaking trails. The aim of this study was to propose indicators for assessing the potential of Poland's water resources for the development of kayaking activities. This research was pursued in several stages. The number of rivers where kayaking tours are organized was determined in the first stage of the study. Indicators describing the potential of the existing water bodies for the promotion of kayaking tourism were proposed in the second stage. The study produced surprising results. The number of kayaking tour operators has increased considerably in recent years, and new water tourism centers have been established in the vicinity of large urban areas. The popularity of well-established kayaking destinations in Warmia-Masuria, Podlasie and Western Pomerania, i.e., Polish regions with considerable potential for the development of water tourism, has declined. The study revealed that the success of kayaking businesses is presently determined by other factors, and further research is needed to identify these determinants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The sporting events industry is one of the world's largest markets and significantly impacts the economy. The sports industry sector is still new, dynamic, and developing. Using sports tourism will provide opportunities to develop recreational sports to be more desirable and even applied by the community. Design/methodology/approach: The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The qualitative method is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observed behavior. The stages of the research method include data collection techniques carried out through document review, interviews, and observations. The data obtained from the field were recorded in descriptive form according to what was encountered by the researcher. Notes in the descriptive form are natural data records from the research field used for data collection. Findings: The availability of natural and tourism potential in Kuta Mandalika dramatically supports the development of the tourism industry. However, the reality is that the community has not fully utilized Kuta Mandalika in developing the sports industry. Practical implications: This study aims to analyze the sports industry in Kuta Mandalika, Central Lombok, as a field for developing recreational sports. Originality/value: The results showed that cycling, boating, fishing, rafting, diving, snorkeling, surfing, running, swimming, camping, outbound, climbing, camping, cruising, cycling in water and sports events became sports that deserve to be developed as sports tourism in Kuta Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The traditional methods for generating venture ideas are in use for more than 70 years in the business, while the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) opened new opportunities for generating and harvesting business ideas, available to entrepreneurs of any kind. Our initial research discovered that there is a missing link in the academic literature between the traditional and the emerging online methods for generating business ideas and therefore, in this paper, we study the traditional and online sources and methods in parallel. The purpose of our study is to improve the venture idea creation process from an applicable perspective, and to add to the existing ideation literature by (1) identifying and classifying the sources of ideas to create the necessary link between the onsite and online access to idea sources; (2) explaining the traditional methods for generating business idea trough their dominant features in order to (3) further identify and elaborate the online sources and ideation methods trough these features and link them to the known traditional approaches. The sources, methods, and tools we examine and elaborate in this paper could be used for both, generating ideas for traditional and online business models. Hence, our findings have practical and applicable value for the first step in the entrepreneurial process. Additionally, our study could be used as a starting point for further research in the field of online ideation, a field that needs to be yet, more extensively, addressed by practitioners and research scholars.

A favorable business environment is part of a set of complex strategic efforts, which come to boost and develop the comparative advantage of the Republic of Moldova. Good governance, the absence of corruption and efficient institutions stimulate entrepreneurship and promote the growth and development of the business environment. Of course, an important role in ensuring these conditions belongs to the state. The potential that the Sustainable Development Goals open to companies, including new businesses, is estimated at 12 trillion lei in just four business areas. All this represents a good platform for identifying the business niches of the future, which youth could explore and identify their own sustainable business area.

Creative industry plays an important role in economic development in Indonesia, especially in West Java. The creative industry is also believed to have strong enough resilience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, various strategies are needed so that the creative economy can still grow and develop in West Java. One of the efforts that can be made to encourage the creative industry in West Java to grow is to develop an appropriate business strategy based on business opportunities and unique capabilities. Through improvements to the business strategy, it is expected to be able to improve the business performance of the creative industry. The results of the analysis using the structural equation modeling method through partial least square path modeling found that business opportunities and unique capabilities make a significant contribution to business strategy and have a significant indirect impact on improving the performance of creative industries in West Java. The usage of artificial intelligence as business opportunities on the markets has a wide potential for many fields. Due to the rapid development of technology, artificial intelligence is quite expensive but useful. The research is done by making basic SWOT analysis (analysis Strenghts-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats) of the R&D (Research and Development) stage in the Czech Republic and by document analysis from articles on Web of Science and Scopus. The results shows, that the AI is beneficial for large number of fields and that the AI (Artificial Intelligence) has a great potential for implicating this in business, healthcare, economics and many more. Social enterprises can play an important role in reducing inequality within a society and can also contribute to long-term economic development. Using a database based on the responses of 220 Hungarian social enterprises we first identify the business opportunities that they perceive. We conclude that social enterprises operating in different legal forms have different perceptions of their opportunities, and we speculate that this has an effect on their innovation activity as well. It is striking that – with the exception of social cooperatives – none of the Hungarian social enterprises see current or future social and/or market needs and demand as a major opportunity. This suggests that only social cooperatives have the incentive to focus their innovation efforts on social and market needs. Almost all social enterprises, on the other hand, have high expectation for European Union funds; the threat is that social innovation is driven by the targets set by the authorities allocating European funds, instead of the needs of the society.

Climate services were initially established with the aim to make the vast amount of climate data, projections and other climate science output publicly available to support the development of responses to society’s vulnerability to climate change. In Europe embraced the concept was not only embraced to provide access to scientific knowledge and reduce vulnerability, but also as an opportunity to promote innovation, business opportunities and employment, highlighting the importance of involving users in developing climate services. However, not only differences in knowledge and skills, but also in framing of climate risks and information needs, pose a serious gap between suppliers and users of climate information, sometimes called the “valley of death”. Focusing on urban and rural development at the regional and local level as key areas of application for climate services, the paper characterizes this valley of death and suggests options to bridge the gap. We suggest that reframing of the concept of climate services can help expand their applications and effectiveness, taking local non-climate challenges, opportunities and narratives into account. We provide examples from the European ERA4CS project INNOVA. The current focus of climate service development is very much on digital forms of climate change information. While this may provide a useful “back office” function, active brokerage and mediated transfer of knowledge between public and private actors, face-to-face collaboration between providers and clients (“front office”), and integration of social, economic and non-climate environmental challenges with climate risks can help bridging the “valley of death”.

The study investigates how the adoption of emerging digital technologies can provide valuable business opportunities for logistics centres in maritime supply chains. For this purpose, a systematic literature review (SLR) of prior academic studies addressing this topic is performed. The review unveils the current lack of a comprehensive framework to assess the impact of digital technologies on transport and maritime logistics, bringing insights for a promising research agenda. The paper proposes an ad-hoc conceptual framework for disentangling relevant business opportunities which originates from the adoption of cutting-edge digital technologies for each type of logistics centres. The main business benefits for logistics infrastructures which manage cargo flows in maritime supply chains (MSCs) are identified and discussed. The results suggest alternative strategic options for innovating logistics chains and increase the competitiveness of various cargo logistics centres. A new reality in business operations has been created by the COVID-19 pandemic for the sport industry. With at least $12 billion in revenue lost and thousands of jobs vanished (Lieser, 2020), one of the challenges facing sport organizations, specifically sport facilities, in this current environment is their ability to pivot and implement learning opportunities during these extraordinary times in order to prosper. The purposes of this study are to (1) identify unique business opportunities capitalized on by sport organizations globally, (2) recognize the openings that could reconstruct aspects of a sport facility's business model, and (3) assess the sustainability of those business opportunities for the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This analysis will utilize the principles, practices, and characteristics of learning organizations (Senge, 1994) to reevaluate the business operations of sport facilities and create a new future for organizations to grow and thrive. Women entrepreneurs in Pakistan face numerous difficulties in their successful business career and poses unusual status and intensity. These challenges affect women entrepreneurs differently depending on diverse situations. This study aimed is to shed light on the challenges affecting women to get success in business and to point out the issues faced by them while being entrepreneurs. It highlighted the challenges confronted by Pakistani business women and to open discussion which may empower researchers to get the clear scenario of occupations and industry down to the four-digit code. Gathering secondary data from Labor Force Survey-2014-15, UN Women (2016), Pakistan Bureau of Statistics 2015, the little data book on financial inclusion 2015, Women Economic Participation and Empowerment Status Report, (2016-2015), this study provides recommendations assisting the federal and provincial agencies to introduce women friendly laws to reduce gender biases as well as to take note on gender specific measure to ease the business environment for women in Pakistan.
