Despite the abundance of studies and theories on business growth, only a few companies manage to sustain constant growth. This research analyzes the broad field of business growth strategies for small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs), aiming to identify methodologies that facilitate SME growth. This study involved comprehensive bibliometric analysis and a systematic literature review. No specific methodology for SME growth was identified. Furthermore, the analysis highlighted a gap between the field of growth strategies, business growth, and business model. A subsequent literature review confirmed an important link between a company's chosen growth strategy and its business model. It highlighted that a business model aligned with the selected growth strategy is vital for firm growth. The findings suggest that integrating business models into the field of business growth strategies presents a promising area for future research on SME growth. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Startups play an important role in the development of the economy, as they help improve technological and innovative capacity. The competitive advantage of startups depends to a large extent on their human resources, since their uncertain operations require a team with an adequate skill profile to manage uncertainty. Previous studies have shown that entrepreneurial skills can contribute to business performance and growth. Accordingly, this research aims to analyze how entrepreneurial skills influence the organizational performance of startups. For this purpose, we have carried out an empirical research in 70 Spanish startups to study the following skills: development of opportunities, creativity, problem solving, leadership, professional relationships, use of new technologies and cloud storage. To measure business growth, two variables are measured: company profits and sales. This research has been conducted through fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and the result shows that there is an increase in sales when the skills of develop opportunities in products, services or markets; creativity; problem solving; use of technology and trust on cloud storage are present. Regarding company profits, in most configurations it is clear that the conditions that lead to increased them are the ability to solve problems and the application of new technologies. - Abstract
This research aims to determine the provincial priorities for the development of the mosque-based ZISWAF ecosystem by Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, focusing on texts, expressions, and behaviors of resource persons to explore the potential of mosques and the potential for economic and financial empowerment of the people. The study uses a structured interview method to identify key areas on the islands of Java and Sumatra, specifically highlighting East Java, West Java, Jakarta, Aceh, and South Java, as well as additional regions like East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Bali. The results of the study also show that there are differences, advantages, and disadvantages of UPZ and MPZ both in terms of legality, institutional, work patterns, operations, sustainability, and fund distribution flows. There are four clusters of challenges faced by Bank BSI in efforts to develop the mosque and mosque ecosystem in Indonesia, namely, the human resources of amil and nazhir mosques, worshippers and residents around mosques (government regulations and budgets), and the legality of mosque LPZs (local government budgets). The study also shows that there is a significant difference in the quality of mosque management based on dimensions, variables, and indicators on the existing mosque index. It is hoped that the use of this instrument can make it easier for Bank FSI to develop a mosque and its ecosystem for the progress and welfare of people and the nation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) have a strategic role in the Indonesian economy, particularly in the architectural metal products manufacturing sector. However, SMEs are often faced with various obstacles that hinder business growth, especially in marketing, financial, and operational aspects. This research aims to identify the main barriers and develop a Hybrid Artificial Intelligence (HAI) Model that integrates Generative AI and Analytic AI as a comprehensive solution. A qualitative approach was used with a case study method at PT XYZ, a project-based architectural metal product manufacturing company in Surabaya. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. The results of the study identified 15 main obstacles which included low digital marketing innovation, suboptimal cash flow management, and limited quality of human resources (HR). The proposed HAI model consists of Generative AI to support product design innovation and digital marketing strategies and Analytic AI for financial optimization and operational efficiency improvement through real-time data analysis. The implementation of this model has significant potential to improve innovation, productivity, and effectiveness of strategic decision-making, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs in the premium market. This research provides practical contributions for SMEs in adopting AI technology for sustainable business transformation, as well as policy recommendations for the government and relevant stakeholders to support the digitalization of SMEs. VALUE creation ,LITERATURE - Abstract
Design‐driven innovation (DDI) is an approach to innovation that focuses on creating new meanings for the products and services a company offers. DDI differs from other forms of innovation, which are typically more so driven by the development of breakthrough technologies or on addressing current market needs. It is argued that DDI is an effective approach to creating value and promoting the growth of a company. Research regarding DDI has largely focused on the outcomes for end‐users or overall company growth. While these outcomes are important, a lot goes on behind the scenes to successfully deliver them. Internal stakeholders such as managers and employees are responsible for delivering these outcomes, and research regarding value creation for them is currently limited. This paper serves as a starting point for further research by presenting a critical literature review that investigates how DDI could be a catalyst for innovation and growth through the creation of new meanings for internal stakeholders involved in the development of products and services. The result of this literature review is the identification of possible areas for intervention and a proposal for further primary research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Recently, franchising has emerged as a prominent avenue for business expansion, attracting numerous entrepreneurs in local and international markets. While the prevalence of franchise businesses continues to rise, some businesses struggle to achieve growth due to their failure to leverage technology effectively, thereby failing to distinguish themselves from competitors. To remain competitive, franchisors must embrace technology in franchise operations. However, existing literature predominantly focuses on technology utilisation within SMEs, with limited insights into its application within the franchise sector. More importantly, studies on technology adoption practices within the Malaysian franchise industry remain insufficient for business growth. Understanding Malaysian franchisors' technology adoption guide strategies for competitive market edge and sustained growth. The present study aims to fill this gap by exploring the technology adoption practices of Malaysian franchisors through qualitative analysis of six franchisor companies. Data collected through focus group discussion and analysed using thematic analysis revealed four key themes: Product Management, Training and Support, Business Communication, and Performance Monitoring. A new conceptual model for technology adoption in Malaysian franchising is proposed, contributing fresh insights to the field. These findings can inform policymakers, agencies, and franchise investors, enhancing strategies and programs to boost the franchise sector in Malaysia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AbstractThis study aims to investigate the correlation between components of financial inclusion and the growth of manufacturing microenterprises in Bogotá, focusing on the period from 2012 to 2016. Utilizing data sourced from the ‘Annual Survey of Micro Establishments’ provided by National Administrative Department of Statistics, the research includes an extensive literature review, a meticulous comparison of the financial inclusion components employed by these microenterprises and an evaluation of their impact on business growth using a linear panel data model with random effects. Findings suggests that microenterprises utilizing financial products exhibit sustained growth over time compared to those that do not. Furthermore, this study introduces an innovative perspective by quantitatively addressing the relationship between financial inclusion and the business growth of such companies in developing countries. As a recommendation, microenterprises should focus their efforts on establishing robust financial management practices, formalizing through RUT (Single Taxpayer Registry), adopting digitalization strategies and advocating for equitable financial inclusion policies. While the study contributes to the literature on financial inclusion, a more in-depth qualitative exploration of cultural and idiosyncratic factors is advised.

Abstract Purpose In view of the importance of managers’ wellbeing for their leadership behaviour, employee health, and business effectiveness and survival, a better understanding of managers’ wellbeing and working conditions is important for creating healthy and sustainable businesses. Previous research has mostly provided a static picture of managers’ wellbeing and work in the context of small businesses, missing the variability and dynamism that is characteristic of this context. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore how managers in small companies perceive their working conditions and wellbeing in the context of business growth. Methods The study is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with 20 managers from twelve small companies. Content and thematic analysis were applied. Results The findings indicate that a manager’s working environment evolves from its initial stages and through the company’s growth, leading to variations over time in the manager’s experiences of wellbeing and work–life balance as well as changes in job demands and resources. Managers’ working situation becomes less demanding and more manageable when workloads and working hours are reduced and a better work–life balance is achieved. The perceived improvement is related to changes in organizational factors (e.g. company resources), but also to individual factors (e.g. managers’ increased awareness of the importance of a sustainable work situation). However, there were differences in how the working conditions and wellbeing changed over time and how organizational and individual resources affected the studied managers’ wellbeing. Conclusions This study shows that, in the context of small business, managers’ working conditions and wellbeing are dynamic and are linked to growth-related changes that occur from the start of organizational activities and during periods of growth. In addition, the findings suggest that changes in managers’ working conditions and wellbeing follow different trajectories over time because of the interaction between organizational and personal factors.

SMALL business ,SOCIAL media ,SOCIAL marketing ,BUSINESS expansion - Abstract
Social media was originally intended for people to share their moments and memories and to connect with people that they know. Over time though, social media has transformed into a powerful marketing tool that forever changed the way products and services are advertised. Nowadays, companies willing to market their products and services don’t do it through TV ads, newspaper ads, or radio. Instead, they market on social media platforms. This has become the norm for all modern companies, regardless of their size. The question is if all businesses benefit from the evolution of Social Media Marketing, or some of them decided to stick with the conservative marketing approaches as they find them more convenient considering the product or service they’re promoting. Maybe business owners are afraid to adopt the new ways of marketing, and they decide to play safe and practice what they already know. In today's digital age, social media platforms have revolutionized the landscape of marketing, offering businesses unprecedented opportunities to engage with global audiences. This study explores the profound influence of social media marketing on business growth. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and analysis of case studies, this research examines how strategic utilization of social media channels enhances brand visibility, customer engagement, and ultimately, organizational profitability. The main objective is to find out if social media marketing is highly profitable for businesses in Macedonia and, consequently, if it directly influences business growth. This study investigates the impact of social media marketing on the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Macedonia. As digital platforms continue to redefine contemporary business landscapes, SMEs face both opportunities and challenges in leveraging social media for marketing purposes. This research adopts a qualitative approach, employing interviews and case studies with SME owners and marketing professionals. The findings underscore that social media marketing enhances brand visibility, customer engagement, and market reach for SMEs in Macedonia. However, challenges such as resource constraints, skills gaps, and algorithmic changes persistently affect marketing effectiveness. The study contributes insights into strategic social media practices tailored to local SME contexts, emphasizing the need for adaptive strategies to maximize growth opportunities. Future research directions include longitudinal studies to track evolving social media trends and their sustained impact on SME growth in Macedonian markets. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose of the study: Since few studies had been conducted in the South African context on whether franchisees progress through an entrepreneurial process this study sought to fill the gap by assessing South African franchisees in the context of an entrepreneurial process and investigating the progress of South African franchisees through an entrepreneurial process. Design/methodology/approach: Primary surveyed-quantitative data were collected using self-administered, structured questionnaires with six factors: personal, internal environmental, external environmental, innovation, triggering and implementation factors. Purposive sampling was employed for a sample of 711. Statistical Package for Social Sciences was used for exploratory factor analysis and scale reliability, while Stata 14 performed confirmatory factor analysis and estimated the structural equation model (SEM). Findings: Construct validity and scale reliability conditions were satisfied. SEM estimates showed that implementation factors, and external environmental factors, have a positive and statistically significant influence on franchise business growth. Furthermore, internal environmental factors have a positive and statistically significant influence on the innovation of a franchise business. Recommendations/value: Before pursuing a franchisee business, franchisees should assess the industry and market conditions, expression of interest by financial institutions, the availability of legal assistance, and the availability of key success factors that drive the franchise business growth. Furthermore, franchisees should ensure that conditions, innovation prospects, established structures and diversified products are provided to stimulate the franchise's growth. Managerial implications: Franchisees must be entrepreneurial managers of their franchises and inject entrepreneurial strategy into their partnership with the franchisor. This will improve their business growth and profitability when franchisees are highly motivated and take responsibility for ongoing effectiveness and success in the franchise. This resonates with 'psychological capital' and ‘entrepreneurial autonomy which is required for sustainable improvement in the overall franchise system that will subsequently also benefit the franchisor. The research investigates the role of artificial intelligence and predictive analytics in integrating the practices of supply chain management for the growth of a business in a sustainable manner. A predictive model on the emission factors was then developed using a Random Forest algorithm from machine learning techniques against the historical data from the US Environmental Protection Agency on "Supply Chain Greenhouse Gas Emission Factors for USUS Industries and Commodities." It yielded an average Mean Squared Error of 0.00141 with an R-squared value of 0.9858, explaining almost 99% of the variance in actual emission factors across various industries. The research results show the potential of AI-driven insights in spotting high-emission areas, facilitating targeted interventions, and thus supporting data-driven decision-making in SCM. Case studies drawn from industries such as electronic manufacturing and food processing show the practical application of this model by showing how businesses can reduce their carbon footprints while enhancing operational efficiency and market competitiveness. The study also addresses the pitfalls that may characterize model implementation, such as poor data quality, complex models, and continuous updating. It makes business recommendations to adopt similar strategies, emphasizing cross-functional expertise, stakeholder buy-in, and ethical considerations. It deepens a growing literature on sustainable supply chain management and establishes a framework through which firms can harness AI and predictive analytics to pursue environmental and economic objectives. This article examines primary healthcare reform in mainland China through a private-public partnership approach from a novel angle using disruptive innovation theory. The research is the first of its kind to apply Christensen’s disruptive innovation theory to the primary healthcare industry in China. A qualitative single case study was designed to focus on the GBA Healthcare Group Limited (“GBAH”). The disruptive innovation theory was framed under the 3H framework, hence offering managers of healthcare organizations a new holistic management framework for applying disruptive innovation theory in their business initiatives. It is also suggested that due to the highly regulated nature of the healthcare services industry, private organizations should actively engage with the relevant government organizations as core stakeholders in their strategic planning. The growing trend of single mothers entering the business sector in Malaysia has garnered attention due to the increasing prevalence of single-mother households and the imperative for economic sustainability. Single mothers often face significant challenges in both supporting their families and achieving financial stability. To address these challenges, entrepreneurship presents a viable solution, enabling them to generate income and create employment opportunities, which, in turn, can foster societal and economic growth. The COVID-19 pandemic has further accentuated this opportunity, as many single mothers began operating businesses from home during the movement control order (MCO). This study aims to explore the business potential of single mothers by examining the types of businesses they engage in, the products and services they offer, and the challenges they encounter. The pandemic has notably influenced the rise of online businesses in sectors such as food and beverage, services, and fashion design, driven by increased customer demand. However, single mothers face challenges related to work-life balance and entrepreneurial activities, including high external locus of control and inadequate financial management, which impede their ability to sustain their businesses. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial experiences of single mothers and offers valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders. It informs the development of targeted policies and programs aimed at supporting the economic empowerment of single mothers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Despite significant investment in entrepreneurial coaching in South Africa, the failure rate of small businesses remains high. This empirical study addresses this issue by creating an effective entrepreneurial coaching framework with the help of business incubators, entrepreneurs, coaches, and industry experts. Research Design & Methods: The study used a quantitative cross-sectional design, with a questionnaire distributed to 296 entrepreneurs and statistical analysis performed using SPSS and STATA software. Findings: The findings support the AQAL model of Ken Wilber in how the entrepreneurial outcomes relate to each other. The findings also align with the literature's emphasis on relationship building as a key factor for business growth, with relationship building emerging as the only statistically significant predictor of business growth. Implications and Recommendations: Relationship building should be prioritised over other coaching outcomes, such as self-efficacy, entrepreneurial resilience, and visionary skills, by entrepreneur development practitioners. Contribution & Value Added: These findings have implications for entrepreneurial coaches, policymakers, and professional bodies, urging them to understand entrepreneurs' contexts, take a systemic approach to entrepreneurial coaching, and provide guidance on industry developments and best practices. It is expected that by implementing these recommendations, the proposed entrepreneurial coaching framework will contribute to better outcomes for entrepreneurs and their incubated businesses.

Abstract The recent crisis world experienced (Covid-19) undoubtedly changed many aspects of business, such as operations, growth, sales, etc. A business needs capability and strategy to survive, and this paper considers resilience and growth suitable for encountering a crisis. Following that, this paper argues that resilience not only results from a crisis, as mentioned in previous studies but is a process. We also argue that growth strategy and its stages differ between regular times and times of crisis. This paper aims to elaborate on changes in business resilience and growth strategies as a reaction to a crisis by building line-by-line coding, patterns, and themes. This study develops a conceptual model for forming business sustainability after a crisis with resilience and growth as pillars. This qualitative study used snowball sampling with 13 case studies and conducted semi-structured interviews, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and observation with dependability, credibility, confirmability, and transferability as the triangulation processes. This inductive study demonstrates resilience and growth steps that can assist entrepreneurs in avoiding misleading strategies. The findings also indicated that digital imperatives could hasten both processes to attain sustainability. This paper draws on organizational resilience theory to discuss the theoretical implications of this research. This study discovers three main stages in the resilience process: resilience awareness, adaptation, and action, and growth stages in crisis time, namely no growth, growth support, growth force, and sustainable growth. On a practical level, the proposed model can also assist entrepreneurs in dealing with a crisis regarding what to do and understanding their conditions. This study contributes to the ongoing debate on how to respond to crisis and provides complete stages in resilience response and growth strategies for a business. For future research, this paper recommends a longitudinal study to understand and analyse the implementation and effectiveness of the models.

The study aimed to assess the factors influencing the growth of small-scale fish businesses (SSFBs) owned by women in Mwanza, Tanzania. A total of 309 individuals in the fish industry were surveyed through questionnaires, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews. The study assessed the nature of small-scale fish businesses, the constraints facing them, and the determinants of small-scale fish businesses measured by the daily profits obtained. Results showed that marital status, experience in the business, daily capital, type of customers, storage facilities, and involvement in self-help groups significantly impacted daily profit. The study found that women's capital investment and profits were lower compared to men, mainly due to differences in these factors. The study highlights the need for policies to support women-owned SSFBs, including the establishment of self-help groups to provide opportunities for networking and support. The study calls for programmes to boost the growth of women's SSFBs, addressing the challenges and constraints they face. The results emphasize the importance of promoting entrepreneurship and job creation, particularly among women, to drive economic growth in the region.
