Abstract: Native mucus is heterogeneous, displays high inter-individual variation and is prone to changes during harvesting and storage. To overcome the lack of reproducibility and availability of native mucus, commercially available purified mucins, porcine gastric mucin (PGM) and mucin from bovine submaxillary gland (BSM), have been widely used. However, the question is to which extent the choice of mucin matters in studies of their interaction with polymers as their composition, structure and hence physicochemical properties differ. Accordingly, the interactions between PGM or BSM with two widely used polymers in drug delivery, polyethylene oxide and chitosan, was studied with orthogonal methods: turbidity, dynamic light scattering, and quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring. Polymer binding and adsorption to the two commercially available and purified mucins, PGM and BSM, is different depending on the mucin type. PEO, known to interact weakly with mucin, only displayed limited interaction with both mucins as confirmed by all employed methods. In contrast, chitosan was able to bind to both PGM and BSM. Interestingly, the results suggest that chitosan interacts with BSM to a greater extent than with PGM indicating that the choice of mucin, PGM or BSM, can affect the outcome of studies of mucin interactions with polymers. Abstract: DUNE is a next-generation long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment. It is expected to measure, with unprecedented precision, the atmospheric oscillation parameters, including the CP-violating phase δ C P . Moreover, several studies have suggested that its unique features should allow DUNE to probe several new physics scenarios. In this work, we explore the performances of the DUNE far detector in constraining new physics if a high-energy neutrino flux is employed (HE-DUNE). We take into account three different scenarios: Lorentz Invariance Violation (LIV), Long-Range Forces (LRFs) and Large Extra Dimensions (LEDs). Our results show that HE-DUNE should be able to set bounds competitive to the current ones and, in particular, it can outperform the standard DUNE capabilities in constraining CPT-even LIV parameters and the compactification radius R E D of the LED model. 3. The Standard Model from String Theory: What Have We Learned?

Abstract: Amid all candidates of physics beyond the Standard Model, string theory provides a unique proposal for incorporating gauge and gravitational interactions. In string theory, a four-dimensional theory that unifies quantum mechanics and gravity is obtained automatically if one posits that the additional dimensions predicted by the theory are small and curled up—a concept known as compactification. The gauge sector of the theory is specified by the topology and geometry of the extra dimensions, and the challenge is to reproduce all of the features of the Standard Model of particle physics from them. We review the state of the art in reproducing the Standard Model from string compactifications and summarize the lessons drawn from this fascinating quest. We describe novel scenarios and mechanisms that string theory provides to address some of the Standard Model puzzles as well as the most frequent signatures of new physics that could be detected in future experiments. We then comment on recent developments that connect, in a rather unexpected way, the Standard Model with quantum gravity and that may change our field theory notion of naturalness. 7. Boosted and semi-boosted all-hadronic tt̄ reconstruction performance on kinematic variables for selected BSM models using a 2D extension of the BUMPHUNTER algorithm.

Abstract: In this paper, we explore the usage of boosted as well as semi-boosted topologies in all-hadronic t t ̄ final states in simulated p p collisions at s = 1 4 TeV, with top quarks decaying into a boosted hadronic top-jet or a W-jet and an isolated b-jet. Correlations between selected kinematic variables and their shapes are studied for scalar and vector resonances decaying to a pair of top quarks, and also for a models of t t ̄ -associated production with an invisible dark matter particle pair. Stacked signal + background samples have been investigated in terms of the ability to resolve an excess of events over the Standard Model background in terms of the t t ̄ invariant mass, top quark transverse momentum and other 1D and 2D spectra using a parameterized detector simulation. A 2D extension of the BumpHunter algorithm is proposed, resulting in an improved signal sensitivity in specific 2D areas. We identify the most promising variables with the largest signal significance and smaller sensitivity to experimental uncertainties related to the jet energy calibration. We compare to statistical tests computing the background-only hypothesis compatibility and a likelihood fit of the signal strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Detecting drivers' cognitive states poses a substantial challenge. In this context, cognitive driving anomalies have generally been regarded as stochastic disturbances. To the best of the author's knowledge, existing safety studies in the realm of human Driving Anomaly Detection (DAD) utilizing vehicle trajectories have predominantly been conducted at an aggregate level, relying on data aggregated from multiple drivers or vehicles. However, to gain a more nuanced understanding of driving behavior at the individual level, a more detailed and granular approach is essential. To bridge this gap, we developed a Data Anomaly Detection (DAD) model designed to assess a driver's cognitive abnormal driving status at the individual level, relying solely on Basic Safety Message (BSM) data. Our DAD model comprises both online and offline components, each of which analyzes historical and real-time Basic Safety Messages (BSMs) sourced from connected vehicles (CVs). The training data for the DAD model consist of historical BSMs collected from a specific CV over the course of a month, while the testing data comprise real-time BSMs collected at the scene. By shifting our focus from aggregate-level analysis to individual-level analysis, we believe that the DAD model can significantly contribute to a more comprehensive comprehension of driving behavior. Furthermore, when combined with a Conflict Identification (CIM) model, the DAD model has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), particularly in terms of crash avoidance capabilities. It is important to note that this paper is part of our broader research initiative titled "Automatic Safety Diagnosis in the Connected Vehicle Environment", which has received funding from the Southeastern Transportation Research, Innovation, Development, and Education Center. 11. Assessment of Seabream Fisheries Stock of Oman Using the Monte Carlo Catch Maximum Sustainable Yield and the Bayesian Schaefer Model Methods.

Abstract: The establishment of managerial approaches for the sustainable use of fishery resources depends on a critical understanding of the stock status. The Monte Carlo catch maximum sustainable yield (CMSY) method and a Bayesian state–space implementation of the Schaefer model (BSM) are recent, but widely used, stock assessment methods for data-limited situations. Here, CMSY and BSM were used to evaluate the state and exploitation level of the seabream population. Collections of catch and effort data from 1988 to 2021, pertaining to time series, were obtained from the Fishery Statistics Book published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman. The CMSY and BSM results were similar, indicating that the seabream stock of Oman was overfished, as B/BMSY = 0.96 (<1) and F/FMSY = 1.25 (>1). The probability that the stock was being overfished and undergoing overfishing in 2021 was 53%, while the probability that the stock was healthy (high biomass and low fishing pressure) was only 16.2%, when the target should be higher than 75%. The conclusions are of a preliminary nature owing to the utilization of comparatively new methodologies employed to generate them, which commonly validate the condition and utilization of the populations under investigation. Our research suggests that the seabream population in Oman is overfished, and reducing fishing activity is necessary to restore its abundance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

12. Beyond the Standard Model Physics, from the LHC to Fixed Target Experiments and Astrophysical Probes

Abstract: The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, while excruciatingly consistent underprecision testing, is not a complete theory. Theories of new physics beyond the Stan-dard Model (BSM) thrive beyond its shortcomings. This thesis will explore severalcomplementary avenues of investigation in this realm.The first part concerns CP violation (CPV) in the theory of a two Higgs doubletmodel (2HDM), and the signature of electric dipole moments (EDMs) is considered.Subject to constraints on EDMs set by experiments, collider phenomenology is exploredand a benchmark is elaborated.An astrophysical interlude proceeds with a statistical treatment proposed todistinguish microlensing events in which lensing objects are drawn from populationsof free floating planets (FFPs) or from populations of primordial black holes (PBHs).The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, set to launch in 2027, will observe a suffi-cient number of events during its Galactic Bulge Time Domain Survey to enable suchstatistical tools.The third part discusses a pair of BSM models where additional particlescontribute to the muon anomalous moment, a µ . First, the flavorful supersymmetricStandard Model (FSSM) is described, and its contributions to a µ are computed. Itis shown that sleptons in the multi-TeV range can ameliorate the recently measuredtension in a µ . Second, a minimal extension to the SM with an addition scalar couplingto muons is described, and the detection reach of the proposed DarkQuest experimentis computed. Mitigation strategies on various sources of backgrounds are discussed indetail.

Abstract: A search is presented for the Higgs boson decay to a pair of electrons (Image 1) in proton-proton collisions at s=13TeV. The data set was collected with the CMS experiment at the LHC between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138fb−1. The analysis uses event categories targeting Higgs boson production via gluon fusion and vector boson fusion. The observed upper limit on the Higgs boson branching fraction to an electron pair is 3.0×10−4 (3.0×10−4 expected) at the 95% confidence level, which is the most stringent limit on this branching fraction to date.

Abstract: It is critical that breweries of all sizes routinely monitor the microbiome of their process to limit financial losses due to microbial contamination. Contamination by beer-spoiling microbes (BSMs) at any point during the brewing process may lead to significant losses for breweries if gone undetected and allowed to spread. Testing and detection of BSMs must be routine and rapid, and because even small breweries need the capability of BSM detection and identification, the method also needs to be affordable. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are responsible for most spoilage incidents, many of which have been shown to enter the viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state under conditions present in beer such as cold or oxidative stress. These bacteria are invisible to traditional methods of detection using selective media. This article describes several methods of BSM detection and identification that may be useful in the majority of craft breweries. While there are several genomic methods that meet some or many qualifications of being useful in craft breweries, real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) currently best meets the desired method characteristics and holds the most utility in this industry, specifically SYBR Green qPCR. qPCR is a targeted method of detection and identification of microbes that is affordable, rapid, specific, sensitive, quantitative, and reliable, and when paired with valid DNA extraction techniques can be used to detect BSMs, including those in the VBNC state. Abstract: The Internet of vehicles (IoVs) is an innovative paradigm which ensures a safe journey by communicating with other vehicles. It involves a basic safety message (BSM) that contains sensitive information in a plain text that can be subverted by an adversary. To reduce such attacks, a pool of pseudonyms is allotted which are changed regularly in different zones or contexts. In base schemes, the BSM is sent to neighbors just by considering their speed. However, this parameter is not enough because network topology is very dynamic and vehicles can change their route at any time. This problem increases pseudonym consumption which ultimately increases communication overhead, increases traceability and has high BSM loss. This paper presents an efficient pseudonym consumption protocol (EPCP) which considers the vehicles in the same direction, and similar estimated location. The BSM is shared only to these relevant vehicles. The performance of the purposed scheme in contrast to base schemes is validated via extensive simulations. The results prove that the proposed EPCP technique outperformed compared to its counterparts in terms of pseudonym consumption, BSM loss rate and achieved traceability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

18. Stock Evaluation of the Data-Limited Fisheries: A Case Study of Five Major Commercially Important Fishes from the Western Indian Ocean, Pakistan.

Abstract: Evaluating the stock status is one of the most fundamental part of the dynamic cycle of fisheries management intended to secure our aquatic resources. Indeed the stock assessments not only provide a technical foundation for setting up yearly fisheries harvest levels but also offers a wide variety of other fishery-related measures for management purposes. To do so, we used two newly developed Catch-based Monte Carlo method of estimating MSY (CMSY) and the Bayesian state-space Schaefer production model (BSM) based on the catch and effort time series data from (1993-2017) from the Western Indian Ocean (WIO), Pakistan. The five major fish species of commercial importance exploited by heterogeneous fishing fleets in the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) of Pakistan have been undertaken as a case study for the stock evaluation. Altogether, both the models estimated largely similar results. The stock status results indicate that Euthynnus affinis and Rachycentron canadum were healthy, while Scomberomorus commerson and Parastromateus niger were overfished and Lutjanus argentimaculatus was strongly overfished. However, all the stocks were subjected to overfishing. Therefore, the parameters estimated from our study may be used as indicators for the sustainable management of the fisheries in the country. Abstract: Behind succeeding measurements of anomalies in semileptonic decays at LHCb and several collider experiments hinting at the possible violation of lepton flavor universality, we undertake a concise review of theoretical foundations of the tree- and loop-level b-hadron decays, b → c l ν l and b → s l + l − along with experimental environments. We revisit the world averages for R D (D *) , R K (K *) , R J / ψ , and R η c , for the semileptonic transitions and provide results within the framework of the relativistic independent quark model in addition to the results from model-independent studies. If the ongoing evaluation of the data of LHC Run 2 confirms the measurements of Run 1, then the statistical significance of the effect in each decay channel is likely to reach 5 σ. A confirmation of these measurements would soon turn out to be the first remarkable observation of physics beyond the Standard Model, providing a wider outlook on the understanding of new physics. Abstract: Neutrino oscillations are a very well-established phenomenon, and in the last two decades, we have been able to determine almost all the oscillation parameters with a few percent precision. However, there is still room for the possibility of the presence of new physics effects. In this context, long-baseline (LBL) accelerator experiments provide a great environment to probe BSM (Beyond Standard Model) models. These experiments can look at different oscillation channels at both short (near detectors) and long (far detectors) distances, working with well-controlled focused neutrino beams. Two of the most promising future LBL experiments are DUNE in the USA and T2HK in Japan, which may be part of a bigger experiment (T2HKK) with a second detector in Korea.We studied the performances of these experiments in constraining different models.

Abstract: A search is performed for neutral non-standard-model Higgs bosons decaying to two muons in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeVwere used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9fb-1. The search is sensitive to neutral Higgs bosons produced via the gluon fusion process or in association with a bbquark pair. No significant deviations from the standard model expectation are observed. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set in the context of the mmod+hand phenomenological MSSM scenarios on the parameter tanβas a function of the mass of the pseudoscalar Aboson, in the range from 130 to 600GeV. The results are also used to set a model-independent limit on the product of the branching fraction for the decay into a muon pair and the cross section for the production of a scalar neutral boson, either via gluon fusion, or in association with bquarks, in the mass range from 130 to 1000GeV.

26. Stock Assessment of Chub Mackerel (Scomber japonicus) in the Northwest Pacific Using a Multi-Model Approach.

Abstract: Chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus) is a major targeted species in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, fished by China, Japan, and Russia, and predominantly captured with purse seine fishing gear. A formal stock assessment of Chub mackerel in the region has yet to be implemented by the managing authority, that is, the North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC). This study aims to provide a wider choice of potential models for the stock assessment of Chub mackerel in the Northwest Pacific using available data provided by members of the NPFC. The five models tested in the present study are CMSY, BSM, SPiCT, JABBA, and JABBA-Select. Furthermore, the influence of different data types and input parameters on the performance of the different models used was evaluated. These effects for each model are catch time series for CMSY, catch time series and prior of the relative biomass for BSM, prior information for SPiCT, and selectivity coefficients for JABBA-Select. Catch and CPUE (catch per unit effort) data used are derived from NPFC, while some life history information is referred from other references. The results indicate that Chub mackerel stock might be slightly overfished, as indicated by CMSY (B2020/BMSY = 0.98, F2020/FMSY = 1.12), BSM (B2020/BMSY = 0.97, F2020/FMSY = 1.21), and the base case run for the JABBA-Select (SB2020/SBMSY = 0.99, H2020/HMSY = 0.99) models. The results of the models SPiCT (B2020/BMSY = 2.30, F2020/FMSY = 0.31) and JABBA (B2020/BMSY = 1.40, F2020/FMSY = 0.62) showed that the state of this stock may be healthy. Changes in the catch time series did not affect CMSY results but did affect BSM. The present study confirms that prior information for BSM and SPiCT models is very important in order to obtain reliable results on the stock status. The results of JABBA-Select showed that different selectivity coefficients can affect the stock status of a species, as observed in the present study. Based on the optimistic stock status indicated by the best model, JABBA, a higher catch is allowable, but further projection is required for specific catch limit setting. Results suggested that, as a precautionary measure, management would be directed towards maintaining or slightly reducing the fishing effort for the sustainable harvest of this fish stock, while laying more emphasis on accurately estimating prior input parameters for use in assessment models. Abstract: To ensure traffic flow and its safety, it is necessary for the vehicle and its crew to dispose information about current road conditions. One of the common approaches is broadcasting in VANET (Vehicular Ad hoc NETwork). In VANET, broadcast can be used to exchange information between several types of nodes, especially between vehicles, but also Road Side Units (RSUs). However, the most important is to ensure the exchange of information between the vehicles. This article introduces design and implementation of a new solution to broadcast in these networks between vehicles only. The approach entitled BBPiV-v1 (Basic Broadcasting Protocol in VANET - version 1 is based on IEEE 802.11p standard and its efficacy has been demonstrated using the simulation tools.}

Abstract: A search for a massive resonance X decaying to a pair of spin-0 bosons ϕ that themselves decay to pairs of bottom quarks, is presented. The analysis is restricted to the mass ranges mϕ from 25 to 100 GeV and mX from 1 to 3 TeV. For these mass ranges, the decay products of each ϕ boson are expected to merge into a single large-radius jet. Jet substructure and flavor identification techniques are used to identify these jets. The search is based on CERN LHC proton-proton collision data at s=13TeV, collected with the CMS detector in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138fb−1. Model-specific limits, where the two new particles arise from an extended Higgs sector, are set on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction for X→ϕϕ→(bb‾)(bb‾) as a function of the resonances' masses, where both the X→ϕϕ and ϕ→bb‾ branching fractions are assumed to be 100%. These limits are the first of their kind on this process, ranging between 30 and 1fb at 95% confidence level for the considered mass ranges.

Abstract: Many theories beyond the Standard Model (SM) predict new phenomena, such as Z ′ and vector-like quarks, in final states containing bottom- or top-quarks. It is challenging to reconstruct and identify the decay products and model the major background processes. Nevertheless, such final states offer great potential to reduce the SM backgrounds due to their characteristic decay signature. The latest searches in the third-generation quark final states using the full Run-2 proton–proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment are presented. Particularly, the recent results of di-bjet and top-antitop resonance searches and dark matter produced in association with a top-quark are discussed in these proceedings. Abstract: With the dawn of the emerging technologies in the field of vehicular environment, connected vehicles are advancing at a rapid speed. The advancement of such technologies helps people daily, whether it is to reach from one place to another, avoid traffic, or prevent any hazardous incident from occurring. Safety is one of the main concerns regarding the vehicular environment when it comes to developing applications for connected vehicles. Connected vehicles depend on messages known as basic safety messages (BSMs) that are repeatedly broadcast in their communication range in order to obtain information regarding their surroundings. Different kinds of attacks can be initiated by a vehicle in the network with malicious intent by inserting false information in these messages, e.g., speed, direction, and position. This paper focuses on the position falsification attacks that can be carried out in the vehicular environment and be avoided using the multi-BSM approach. Multi-BSM uses consecutive multiple BSMs with different parameters to detect and warn other vehicles about position falsification attacks. Multi-BSM is compared to other anomaly detection algorithms and evaluated with rigorous simulations. Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) systems based on Internet of Things (IoT) have developed rapidly in recent years. However, interference is a major obstacle to relatively long-distance communications in such networks. It is also very complicated and challenging to fix the exact location of tags in the IoT sensor networks. To overcome these problems, in this paper, an electronic steering parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) antenna used as a beamformer to handle the interference and extend the communication range from the sensors or tags is suggested. In addition, an efficient method, namely beam scanning (BS), is proposed to find the directions of tags. The beam scanning method (BSM) can be used for the selective beam switching (SBS) system by designing an ESPAR or array of ESPAR antennas with the help of CST studio. The antennas exhibit higher gain (8.17 dBi, 11.40 dBi) and proper radiation pattern at a particular direction. In addition, the MATLAB simulation findings indicate that the proposed BSM algorithm provides longer communication range, i.e., 25 m. In order to maximize range while avoiding interference, it is necessary to determine the direction and precise orientation of the tag in the WSN communication systems. Consequently, this work could be applied to an IoT sensor network such as an electrocardiogram system by providing better advantages such as higher localization accuracy and longer operating range. Abstract: Scenarios with new physics particles feebly interacting with the Standard Model sector provide compelling candidates for dark matter searches. Geared with a set of new experiments for the detection of neutrinos and long-lived particles the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has joined the hunt for these elusive states. On the theoretical side, this emerging physics program requires reliable estimates of the associated particle fluxes, in particular those arising from heavy hadron decays. In this work, we provide state-of-the-art QCD predictions for heavy hadron production including radiative corrections at next-to-leading order and using parton distribution functions including small-x resummation at next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. We match our predictions to parton showers to provide a realistic description of hadronisation effects. We demonstrate the utility of our predictions by presenting the energy spectrum of neutrinos from charm hadron decays. Furthermore, we employ our predictions to estimate, for the first time, FASER’s sensitivity to electrophilic ALPs, which are predominantly generated in beauty hadron decays.

36. Deriving the Flavor Structure of the Standard Model from Trinification

Abstract: This thesis presents the derivation of the flavor structure of the Standard Model (SM) from the trinification model with an additional family symmetry. The trinification group is assumed to be broken in a single step to the electroweak gauge group. A low energy Effective Field Theory (EFT) is constructed and matched numerically at one loop level to the trinification model at high energies. The analysis focuses on an SM-like EFT with one Higgs-doublet, two scalar Lepto-Quarks (LQs), and one Vector-Like-Quark (VLQ) in the scalar potential. This is motivated by a numerical scan over the possible mass spectra. For parameter space points satisfying the correct mass spectrum at tree level, loop corrections are added, and the parameters are Renormalization Group (RG)-evolved down to the electroweak symmetry-breaking scale, at which predictions of the quark mass hierarchy and CKM matrix are compared to observations. The results reveal that the constructed EFT cannot accurately reproduce the correct SM quark masses, indicating the need for multiple Higgs particles to reproduce the observed SM, resulting in strong constraints on further considerations of this model., It has long been known that the objects we interact with in everyday life are constituted by atoms. These atoms, in turn, consist of electrons, protons and neutrons, with the latter two being further composed of quarks. The electrons and quarks are known as elementary particles, meaning nothing constitutes them, which together with other elementary particles form the Standard Model of particle physics. The Standard Model is, without doubt, one of the most successful descriptions of reality, describing the interactions of all elementary particles. Yet, despite its success, experimental contradictions questioning its completion have surfaced. This motivates the search for new models describing the experimentally verified part of the Standard Model, whilst solving its anomalies. One such model that aims to both be consistent with the Standard Model and address its limitations is the trinification model, consisting of a larger symmetry group that is symmetric between left and right-handed particles. Studying the trinification model presents the opportunity to receive insight into many features of the elementary particles of the Standard Model, such as the origin of the large mass differences among the quarks, the existence of dark matter, and the observation of matter anti-matter asymmetry.

37. Cobalt/iron bimetallic oxide coated with graphitized nitrogen-doped carbon (Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC) derived from cobalt/iron solid complex as peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activator for efficient bensulfuron-methyl degradation.

Abstract: Cobalt/iron bimetallic oxide coated with graphitized nitrogen-doped carbon (Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC) was synthesized by convenient solid phase coordination combined with calcination method to activate PMS for the degradation of BSM. A series of Co/Fe bimetallic oxides with different metal ratios were designed and prepared to select the most efficient catalyst and Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC(Co:Fe=1:1) demonstrated the highest catalytic activity and the lowest ions leaching. The reasons for high catalytic activity of Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC(Co:Fe=1:1) were evaluated by a range of characterization techniques and the results showed it stemmed from higher mental content and larger current density. Complete (100%) degradation of 10 g·L -1 BSM was achieved within 10 min under the conditions of 0.05 g·L -1 catalyst and 0.3 mmol/L PMS dosage at 25°C. Moreover, Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC(Co:Fe=1:1) showed more excellent catalytic activity and lower ions leaching than Fe 2 O 3 , CoO and Fe 2 O 3 -CoO, indicating superior bimetallic synergy and carbon encapsulation effect. Furtherly, radical experiments and XPS analysis revealed the main active species and catalytic mechanism of the Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC/PMS system, respectively. Finally, the degradation pathway of BSM by Fe 2 O 3 -CoO@NC/PMS system was deduced by LC-TOF-MS. Abstract: En el presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo aislar e identificar bacterias con potencial biorremediadora a partir del suelo de dos piscinas de la Camaronera A en la Provincia del El Oro. Catorce morfotipos de bacterias fueron identificadas por técnica bioquímica. La capacidad biorremediadora de los siete morfotipos en el cultivo de camarón en las piscinas pruebas fue evaluada con la aplicación de dos probióticos elaborados con las bacterias BSM1 (Bacillus sp), BSM2 Bacillus sp), BSM3 (Pseudomonas sp), BSM7 (Lactobacillus plantarum), BMS8 (Pseudomonas sp), BMS10 (Lactobacillus plantarum), BMS11 (Bacillus sp) y la levadura (Sacharomyces serevisae). Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que la biorremediación del suelo, agua y camarón de las piscinas pruebas de las Camaroneras Uno y Dos en la primera producción fue igual que las piscinas control, en la segunda y tercera producción fueron superiores. La presencia de bacterias patógenas, no se evidenció en ninguno de los controles realizados en las piscinas en estudio. La aplicación de los probióticos nativos influyó positivamente sobre el incremento de supervivencia, ganancia de peso, conversión alimentaria y libras de camarón por hectárea a cosecha, que mostró diferencias estadísticas significativas para los días de evaluación que duró la investigación.

Abstract: The Internet of vehicles (IoVs) is an innovative paradigm which ensures a safe journey by communicating with other vehicles. It involves a basic safety message (BSM) that contains sensitive information in a plain text that can be subverted by an adversary. To reduce such attacks, a pool of pseudonyms is allotted which are changed regularly in different zones or contexts. In base schemes, the BSM is sent to neighbors just by considering their speed. However, this parameter is not enough because network topology is very dynamic and vehicles can change their route at any time. This problem increases pseudonym consumption which ultimately increases communication overhead, increases traceability and has high BSM loss. This paper presents an efficient pseudonym consumption protocol (EPCP) which considers the vehicles in the same direction, and similar estimated location. The BSM is shared only to these relevant vehicles. The performance of the purposed scheme in contrast to base schemes is validated via extensive simulations. The results prove that the proposed EPCP technique outperformed compared to its counterparts in terms of pseudonym consumption, BSM loss rate and achieved traceability.

Abstract: A search for the lepton flavor violating τ → 3 μ decay is performed using proton-proton collision events at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2017–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 97.7 fb − 1. Tau leptons produced in both heavy-flavor hadron and W boson decays are exploited in the analysis. No evidence for the decay is observed. The results of this search are combined with an earlier null result based on data collected in 2016 to obtain a total integrated luminosity of 131 fb − 1. The observed (expected) upper limits on the branching fraction B (τ → 3 μ) at confidence levels of 90 and 95% are 2.9 × 10 − 8 (2.4 × 10 − 8) and 3.6 × 10 − 8 (3.0 × 10 − 8), respectively. 49. Non-Unitary Neutrino Mixing in the NO ν A Near Detector Data.

Abstract: The ν μ → ν e oscillation probability over a short baseline (≲1 km) would be negligible for the case when the mixing matrix for three active neutrinos is unitary. However, in the case of a non-unitary mixing of three neutrinos, this probability would be non-negligible due to the so-called "zero distance" effect. Hence, the near detector of accelerator experiments such as NO ν A can provide strong constraints on the parameters of the non-unitary mixing with very large statistics. By analyzing the NO ν A near-detector data, we find that the non-unitary mixing does not improve fits to the ν e or ν μ events over the standard unitary mixing. This leads to constraints on the non-unitary parameters: α 00 > 0.911 , | α 10 | < 0.020 , and α 11 > 0.952 at 90% C.L. A combined analysis with the near- and far-detector data does not change these constraints significantly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

50. Magmatic evolution of the host magma of plutonic rocks in the Procellarum KREEP Terrane.

Abstract: The origin of the KREEP (K, Rare Earth Element and P)-rich component of the Mg-suite rocks of the Procellarum KREEP Terrane (PKT), one of three major lunar crustal terranes, is unclear. In an attempt to determine its origin, we estimated the composition of host magmas of plutonic rocks, including Mg-suite rocks and evolved rocks, from the PKT (PKT-host magmas) by using secondary ion mass spectrometry analyses of plagioclase. Calculated partition coefficients for Sr, Ba and Ti between plagioclase and melts, taking into account the anorthite content of plagioclase, temperature and bulk rock major-element compositions, were applied to determine parental magma compositions. The PKT-host magmas contained 160–360 ppm Sr, 520–7600 ppm Ba and 1.1–7.0 wt.% TiO 2 ; most of them had higher Ti and Ba concentrations than KREEP basalts and high-K KREEP. We used phase relations based on the Rhyolite-MELTS algorithm to explore the evolution of the PKT-host magmas and KREEP basalts from two bulk silicate moon (BSM) starting compositions, a BSM with chondritic ratios of refractory elements, and a crustal-component-enriched BSM with non-chondritic ratios of refractory elements. We propose a three-stage evolution model. Stage-1: polybaric multi-step fractionation from a BSM magma to form ferroan anorthosite (FAN) crust and an evolved magma as the first KREEP-rich component (M 0). Stage-2: assimilation and fractional crystallization (AFC) of M 0 , early cumulate and FAN associated with deep mantle overturn and impact events to form the PKT-host magmas, Mg-suite rocks and an evolved magma as the second KREEP-rich component (K 0). Stage-3: further AFC cycles of K 0 , Mg-suite rocks or FAN associated with shallow mantle overturn and impact events to form KREEP basalts. This three-stage model for a crustal-component-enriched BSM with non-chondritic ratios of refractory elements (e.g., a sub-chondritic Ti/Ba ratio) reproduced the compositions of both the host magmas of FAN and the PKT-host magmas that fractionated to form the Mg-suite rocks and KREEP basalts of the PKT region. In particular, the model reproduced the high Ti and Ba contents of the PKT-host magmas we estimated from plagioclase composition. Variations of TiO 2 and Ba contents (and hence Ti/Ba ratios) of the magmas were critical controls on their evolution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
