Category emergence has been a central question in organization theory. Yet, we still do not understand what drives category persistence and updating during emergence as new information arises. We investigate this question through a rich set of oral histories and archival materials on the emergence of the category AIDS from 1978 to 1985. We show that the initial proto-category's features and causal theories cohered with its stigmatized moral meanings. Over time, anomalies challenging these features and theories spurred a minority of medical professionals to update the category's causal theory. However, a silent majority resisted updating the category because the new causal theory conflicted with the proto-category's moral meanings, challenging the clear moral boundary dividing what was perceived as worthy from what was perceived as unworthy. As a result, the majority silenced the vocal minority's updated understandings and withheld resources from the category. This article contributes to the literature on categorization by showing that conflicts between category dimensions can stifle updating, amplify imprinting, and prolong category persistence. Particularly, the dichotomous nature of the moral dimension might hinder the updating of other dimensions, such as the causal one, despite accumulated evidence suggesting the need for updates. We show that calls for category updating backed solely by rational arguments may fail to persuade the silent majority and may falter until the moral boundary is punctured and the category is morally reappraised. Although comprised of America's most iconic and varied ecosystems and landmarks, the boundaries of national parks have received little attention. This study uses boundary data from the National Park Service and other sources with compactness measures calculated using Geographic Information Systems. Using two common measures of compactness, the Polsby‐Popper and Reock methods, this study aims to answer several research questions: how are the type, location, and age of park units related to compactness, and how are changes in park boundaries related to changes in compactness? Compactness was found to vary between the types of national park units, as well as based on the location of parks within the country. Individual parks have become less compact over time. Due to the significance of national parks to ecosystem conservation, results of this study have crucial implications, providing some direction for future studies and federal regulation as well as overall conservation effort. Textbooks used in MSW Direct Practice courses in Canada were analyzed using Critical Discourse Analysis, with a particular focus on content related to social work relationships. Positive aspects of relationships were discussed in more depth than negative aspects, little information about boundaries and confidentiality was found, and there was a decided lack of depth in content. The study highlighted the need for more depth in teaching about relationships in social work practice. Recommendations for adding more depth are included. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Our actions shape our everyday experience: what we experience, how we perceive, and remember it are deeply affected by how we interact with the world. Performing an action to deliver a stimulus engages neurophysiological processes which are reflected in the modulation of sensory and pupil responses. We hypothesized that these processes shape memory encoding, parsing the experience by grouping self‐ and externally generated stimuli into differentiated events. Participants encoded sound sequences, in which either the first or last few sounds were self‐generated and the rest externally generated. We tested recall of the sequential order of sounds that had originated from the same (within event) or different sources (across events). Memory performance was not higher for within‐event sounds, suggesting that actions did not structure the memory representation. However, during encoding, we observed the expected electrophysiological response attenuation for self‐generated sounds, together with increased pupil dilation triggered by actions. Moreover, at the boundary between events, physiological responses to the first sound from the new source were influenced by the direction of the source switch. Our results suggest that introducing actions creates a stronger contextual shift than removing them, even though actions do not directly contribute to memory performance. This study contributes to our understanding of how interacting with sensory input shapes experiences by exploring the relationships between action effects on sensory responses, pupil dilation, and memory encoding. Importantly, it challenges the notion of a meaningful contribution from low‐level neurophysiological mechanisms associated with action execution in the modulation of the self‐generation effect. The way we remember events is heavily influenced by how we acted when experiencing them, but the possible contribution of low‐level physiological mechanisms in this phenomenon has been so far overlooked. We show that the presence or absence of actions acts as a meaningful context for sound encoding. Low‐level neuromodulatory mechanisms are engaged during overt actions, and sensory processing is dramatically affected. However, these neurophysiological processes appear to have no impact on auditory memory. We conclude that the mere presence or absence of overt actions during sound sequence encoding, and the neurophysiological processes engaged by them, does not meaningfully contribute to structure auditory memory representations. Purpose: The aim of this study is to understand how healthcare practitioners experience organisational boundaries and silos in day-to-day operations. Based on a multi-dimensional scale of organisational boundaries, the study examines how organisational demarcation lines enable and constrain daily work tasks in the healthcare sector. Research design: The study is based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis of survey responses from 895 healthcare practitioners in Denmark. Results: The results indicate that tendencies toward organisational silos relate to systems and hierarchies (management-staff) rather than professions and departments. Moreover, the study identifies resource scarcity as an important undercurrent in the understanding of the respondents' perceptions of boundaries and silos. Conclusion: The study contributes to existing research by documenting the coordination and collaboration challenges linked to the multitude of demarcation lines in complex health organisations. Social and environmental challenges are forcing organizations to develop sustainable business models (SBMs). Literature on SBMs has identified the importance of stakeholders and collaboration. Collaboration and positions of stakeholders within the value‐chain opens the discussion about organizational boundaries and their role in enhancing or hindering sustainable business model innovation. Through a literature review, this study analyzes 53 papers at the intersection of SBMs and boundaries to clarify how SBMs change organizational boundaries, and how these boundaries affect the sustainability values of organizations. We aim to identify key stakeholders, who hold negotiation power at organizational boundaries. The paper identifies important managerial questions that may assist organizations in the process of unpacking sustainable value and broaden their scope of key stakeholders. Forest Schools emerged in the UK in the early 1990s after a group of practitioners developed the Forest School programme following a visit to Denmark. In our recent systematic review of forest school literature in England (Garden and Downes 2021), we proposed that a focus on space in future research to generate new complexities around the broader concepts that allow us to explore hybrid spaces constituted by both classrooms and Forest Schools. This means an examination of the various interactions between children, adults and artefacts that come together to generate existing and new spaces. There is the opportunity to re-conceptualise ideas around the Forest School space through the framing of Massey's (2005) proposition that space is a product of relations-between and that space is always in the process of being made. Thus, children create and 'own' the Forest School space through their inhabitation of it. This paper provides a key contribution to existing knowledge around Forest Schools within outdoor education by examining ways in which new educational spaces can be formed, contested and colonised beyond the classroom. Also, its application not only in the field of chemistry can also be applied in areas including computer science, networking, etc. Hence, this paper introduces the Randic index of a vague graph and vague subgraph with their properties. The upper and lower boundaries of the Randic index of vague graphs are studied with some isomorphic properties. Likewise, the Randic index of directed vague graphs is introduced. This paper examines the everyday processes of othering and exclusion of particular religious communities in expanding urbanscapes. It maps how deliberate contests are produced over cities’ histories, politico-cultural legacies and spatial arrangements, to isolate and displace communities. Specifically, it addresses how exclusion of Muslim residents is constructed in social and spatial terms in contemporary urban India. Focussing on the middle-sized central Indian city of Bhopal, I explore the emergent tensions that have steadily consolidated invisible, yet often impermeable, mental borders within that setting. In doing so, I highlight the disturbing implications of these processes of boundary making and solidification. I discuss what they mean for the everyday existence of people and communities, and how they produce fractured urbanisms. Drawing upon a mixed approach, I piece together archival records, press reports and a wide selection of other literature, as well as on-field conversations and observations, to examine how the city of Bhopal is sought to be reimaged as Hindu, and its socio-spatial character reconfigured, isolating and disenfranchising its Muslim residents. In the classical model, ferroelectricity is associated with small ion displacements from paraelectric phases with high symmetry, and ferroelectric crystals must adopt one of the ten polar point groups with low symmetry according to Neumann's principle. In this work, it is proposed that this conclusion is based on perfect bulk crystals without taking the boundaries into account. First‐principles evidence shows that ferroelectric polarizations may also be formed in some non‐polar point groups as the edges generally break the crystal symmetry. Meanwhile, such polarizations can be maintained at macroscale and are switchable when the transition between multiple equivalent states with high symmetry can be realized via long ion displacements， essentially akin to ion conductors. For example, the switching barriers can be much reduced in sliding ferroelectric bilayer systems or ionic compounds with covalent‐like directionality. Such unconventional ferroelectricity can be attributed to the boundaries and long ion displacements, and its existence in several systems like CuCrS2 is supported by experimental observations. It may explain a series of unclarified phenomena reported previously as well as significantly expand the scope of ferroelectrics, especially those with high polarizations induced by long ion displacements. Comments from Lorenza Fontana, Tiffany Joseph, Ali Meghji, and Ann Morning shed different lights on Seeing Others, and bring me to see the book differently. They draw a connection between its argument and my past research on worth, racism, group boundaries, ordinary universalism, and other themes. Some are particularly drawn to how I describe change as proceeding from ongoing cultural processes, even in periods of cultural backlash like the one we are experiencing now. Others are concerned with how to engage the most conservative and racist members of our society in a project of greater social inclusion and universal recognition of dignity, at a time of growing political polarization, and when social media feed miscommunication in the public sphere. In Seeing Others, sociologist Michéle Lamont argues that the way to heal our divided world is to see and recognize everyone's collective humanity. To make this argument, she utilizes insights from her past research and incorporates new data from 180 interviews conducted with Hollywood creatives, activists, and young people from around the United States since 2019. Lamont's main finding is that recognizing everyone's worth and dignity are vital to dissolve social, political, economic, and cultural boundaries between groups. For this to occur, narratives must be transformed so that everyone, especially those in marginalized groups, are truly seen. While the book provides valuable strategies to achieve this goal, I briefly discuss three challenges that make it difficult to transform narratives in our complex social world: (1) prevalence of misinformation; (2) engaging those who are out of touch with reality; and (3) navigating federal and state-level policy divides. This commentary explores the various ways three papers take up notions of We-ness, I-ness, and With-ness in the process of elaborating the psychoanalytic concepts they address respectively: permeable boundaries, empathy and selfobjects. Geist and Nocek, Goldin, and Stern employ their personal and professional subjectivities to explore how the analytic process can simultaneously foster intimate connection and healthy separateness. The comment reviews the rigid rules of psychoanalytic technique established by Freud and their grip on practice in the Heroic Period of psychoanalysis, despite the irony that Freud himself broke his own rules with abandon. Heinz Kohut made the conceptual transformations in the theory by placing empathy at the center of the project. This paper builds on Kohut's creative use of empathy by exploring and delineating the advantages of embracing the concept of permeable boundaries. After describing our theoretical understanding of permeable boundaries, we suggest how its use can facilitate a treatment characterized by an unusual depth, intimacy, and healing. Instead of illustrating the theory using interactions with our patients, we used excerpts from our own therapeutic relationship to capture an experience near understanding of what permeable boundaries looks and feels like in clinical practice. In this way we are proposing a new frame along with a definition which therapists can use to guide and expand their therapeutic work. We then turn to the impact of permeable boundaries on several of the healing processes that occur in many treatments: heightened affective moments, internalization, corrective emotional experiences, the forward edge and interpretative work, and repairing disruptions. Boundaries in contemporary art practice and education contexts are often conceived as distinctions between disciplines, inscribed through material conventions and discursive traditions. In art, a field that continually touts trans-disciplinarity and post-medium approaches, it is considered productive to occupy multiple disciplinary positions and effectively enlarge or re-draw the territory of possible creative action. This obsession with disciplinary limits reveals a language of spatial metaphors (fields, frontiers and domains) and breaching actions (breaking boundaries, expansion). In this article we highlight how the language of disciplinarity today is spatialized, and premised on notions of imperialist territoriality which are at odds with efforts to decolonize art. We speculate on other ways to approach disciplinarity without theorizing boundaries and their rupture, and re-consider discipline through: ecologies of teaching and learning, an imaginative burrowing under the surface, and working with discipline as an agential material. This study examines the application of Regional Regulation No. 11/2012 on road and river boundary lines and evaluates the effectiveness of its sanctions in Cirebon Regency, Indonesia. The issue of illegal buildings violating road and river borders remains prevalent, mainly along Jalan Pilang. This research analyzes how effectively the regulation and its sanctions are implemented to curb these violations. The study employs an empirical juridical approach, using primary and secondary data from field research, document reviews, and interviews. The findings reveal that enforcing sanctions under Regional Regulation No. 11/2012 could be more effective, with numerous illegal structures still encroaching on regulated boundaries. Although supported by legal provisions, the local Government's enforcement efforts face challenges due to community noncompliance and insufficient enforcement mechanisms. The results highlight the need for more vigorous regulatory enforcement and public awareness to uphold spatial planning laws. Background: Racially minoritized individuals make up the majority of the incarcerated population. The incarceration of a family member has lasting effects on family dynamics, particularly impacting the lives of adolescents. There is a need to understand how these experiences affect adolescent self-esteem and the role of family boundaries. Objective: To examine the impact of familial incarceration on adolescent self-reported self-esteem and the moderating role of boundaries between adolescents and their fathers, using structural family therapy as a guiding framework. Methods: The study utilized data from the 2016 wave of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth-Children and Young Adults (NLSY-CYA), with a sample size of 341 adolescents. Simple linear and hierarchical regressions were conducted to assess the relationships between familial incarceration, perceived parental closeness, and adolescent self-esteem. Findings: Regression analysis revealed that having an incarcerated family member and lower perceived parental closeness were significantly associated with reduced self-esteem in adolescents. Additionally, closeness to fathers did not act as a protective factor in mitigating the negative impact of familial incarceration on adolescent self-esteem. Conclusions: The findings indicate that while familial incarceration and perceived parental closeness negatively impact adolescent self-esteem, closeness to fathers does not serve as a buffer. These results suggest that practitioners should explore alternative protective factors to support adolescents' self-esteem following familial incarceration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The boundary, both as social norm and physical form, is an essential element in the development of the structure of urban form. This article explores the role of boundaries: (1) through the transformation of the lilong form in Shanghai by means of a case study of the Guizhou lilong block and (2) through the extension of the methodology of morphological study. In the urbanization of China, the lilong form tracks successive organizational shifts in society. Over one hundred years, the micro-scale changes of boundaries transformed the morphology of the Guizhou lilong block from a single-family residence to a mass housing block. Accordingly, the morphological study of the boundaries in Guizhou lilong block shows how its form was changed by changing regulations applied to it as well as its changing communities. This article uses two-dimensional drawings to investigate the change of boundaries over time extending the Conzen tradition and the understanding of how the social system defines the urban form. Consequently, this article makes an argument for understanding the effect on boundaries of both the conflict and the cooperation between the authorities and the inhabitants in a morphological study following the Conzen School. In this article, I present the individual ethnography of Amina, a Senegalese woman possessed by the spirits of her lineage. Amina's story shows the lacerations of a person who simultaneously inhabits two worlds: the traditional Lebou culture and the Western one. When her spirits manifest themselves, she is forced to choose between two different interpretations of her suffering: the traditional persecutory and the Western psychopathological. She chooses the former but refuses the healers imposed by the tradition and turns to a priest of her choice, who proves to be sensitive to her need to personally own the healing journey. Amina strategically manipulates the plasticity of the traditional belief system without abandoning it; she bends it to shake the boundaries of herself, and her group and lineage. She uses the disruptive potential of possession and the irruption of the invisible world in the visible to renegotiate her role and acquire a new status in her group. She uses the performative dispositive of possession to renegotiate and expand her spaces of agency and affirm her tenacious subjectivity of a permanently liminal person, one who inhabits, shakes and redraws the boundaries between different worlds of meaning. This article aims to analyze the nature and main characteristics of the discourse on borderlands and border local communities during the process of delimiting the Spanish–Portuguese boundary that took place in the middle third of the nineteenth century. It examines how both local and state actors represented conflicts and violence in border areas and how these discourses played a crucial role not only in securing the involvement of central state agencies in local conflicts but also in legitimizing state intervention in border disputes. Beyond the case studied here, this research contributes to a comparative perspective across different geographical and historical contexts on how border regions and their inhabitants have been frequently represented as problematic spaces and societies. In this regard, the article provides a critical understanding of the border-delimitation process undertaken by the Spanish and Portuguese liberal states as part of a broader national and territorial building process that, among other objectives, sought to control, normalize, discipline and integrate peripheral regions and their populations. Drawing on some of the main concepts coined by Said’s Orientalism and the contributions of Foucault in The Birth of the Clinic as well, it proposes the term borderism to describe the imaginative geographies that legitimized this kind of border-delimitation processes, not only in the Iberian context but also in other similar cases. The integrated status of Social Studies in the Norwegian Curriculum for Knowledge Promotion in Primary and Secondary Education and Training 2020 reflects an international educational trend pertaining to a movement from knowledge and traditional disciplinary thinking to generic skills, competence and boundary crossing. This article addresses the changed organisation of geography as a subject within Social Studies in the national curriculum framework. Through a thematic analysis of how geographical knowledge is classified and represented in the curriculum, this article discusses opportunities and limitations in the curriculum when it comes to developing students' powerful geographical knowledge. The analysis shows that geographical knowledge is organised in an attempt to reduce content boundaries. Found across the curriculum, geographical knowledge includes geographical scale, geographic conditions and human–nature interconnections. However, geographical knowledge is represented through an understanding of space as absolute and fixed rather than relational and dynamic, as well as through a technical and mainly individual understanding of scale. We conclude that boundary crossing related to sustainability and citizenship as interdisciplinary topics opens opportunities for powerful geographical knowledge, although this potential is limited by the weak classification of geography in the curriculum for Social Studies. The concept of integration implies an imbalance between people, where immigrants are those who are obligated to integrate into the society of a new country. Thus, I suggest that alongside of integration, the focus should be the process of belonging and to how different local actors participate in the belonging process. In this study, I examine how people who try to promote immigrants' integration, namely local migration coordinators, project employees and volunteers, create immigrants' belonging in rural Finland. The data consist of fourteen semi-structured interviews. My research questions are (1) What symbolic boundaries do local integration workers construct when they speak about immigrants and their integration? and (2) What kind of belonging do they (re)produce for immigrants through these boundaries? I argue that local integration workers establish a notion of belonging that follows the official, national integration policy on language, employment, active membership, and individual immigrants' adaptation. However, they simultaneously expand the boundaries of belonging by highlighting the responsibility of the local community in the process, and by emphasising immigrants' personal desires, individuality and experiences of a sense of being at home. The significant effect of Ni content (0.92, 1.94 and 2.94 wt%) on ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) and microstructure in a 1000 MPa grade high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel was studied. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Charpy impact test and low-temperature tensile test to study the fundamental reasons for the effect of Ni content on toughness. The results indicated that increasing the Ni content can reduce the DBTT of HSLA steel and improve the impact toughness at low temperatures. EBSD data post-processing analysis revealed that the key reason for the increase in low-temperature toughness is the refinement of the microstructural crystallographic structure, specifically the significant increase in the boundary density of the block and packet. With the increase of Ni content, the density of grain boundary with an orientation difference greater than 5° between two adjacent {110} crystal planes was higher, which can form a higher density of dislocation pile-up group, thus better reducing local stress concentration. Meanwhile, the stacking fault energy (SFE) increases with the increase of Ni content, which made the screw dislocation more prone to cross slip at low temperature, resulting in an increase in plasticity at low temperatures. These observed phenomena and reasons provided a theoretical explanation for the role of Ni content in reducing DBTT and enhancing the toughness of the core in heavy gauge plates.

This art-based research explored the sculptural potential of using chrome tanned leather to merge plant forms with materials culture. Chrome tanned leather was selected as the medium for its flexible yet durable qualities that allow it to be manipulated into organic shapes reminiscent of botanicals. A series of sculptural works were created using varieties of chrome tanned leather offcuts that were either stitched, glued or tucked over metal pipes, wood or plastic tube armatures. These armatures were then curled, spiralled or formed into nodule shaped components evoking leaves, vines, roots and pods. The works aimed to blur boundaries between the natural and industrial by incorporating the distinctive patina and textures of chrome tanned leather, a material intrinsically tied to industry and manufacturing. Through an iterative process, techniques for shaping, assembling and finishing the leather components were developed. Finishing techniques such as tooling, staining and distressing were employed to enhance botanical details and accentuate the unique properties of the leather. The research found that chrome tanned leather lends itself well to organic sculptural forms and allowed an imaginative merging of plant inspirations with an industrially produced material. By flexing the material past its functional limits, a hybrid language was discovered that challenges perceptions of what leather can signify as an artistic medium. The research contributes to interrogating relationships between nature, culture and materials.

This paper emphasizes the need to broaden organizational perspectives through Open X, which promotes sharing and collaboration over selfishness and competition, instead of that industrial intellectual protection through patents can divert resources essential for the growth of organizations. Faced with new realities, organizations need different management approaches with the potential to transform the reindustrialization resulting from deindustrialization into a Neo-industrialization 2.0. It does not mean tearing down or creating new boundaries but an open culture where organizational efforts have social relevance. In the face of economic interests, Open X can make organizational outcomes more plentiful and robust.

Purpose: Although benefits are promising, many companies face problems leveraging synergies between Lean and Digitalization at the program management level. This paper aims to identify activities to manage the boundaries of Lean and Digitalization programs. Design/methodology/approach: The research design follows a cross-industry multiple-case study approach. A total of 14 interviews were conducted with Lean and Digitalization experts from 10 companies. Interview quotes were mapped on a pre-defined list of descriptive codes and iteratively merged and excluded. Findings: We identified 12 activities by which companies manage the boundaries of their Lean and Digitalization programs. Three distinct boundary management approaches could be identified: collaborative, configurational, and competitive. A collaborative approach fosters governance, the belief in synergies, and the development of combined artifacts. A configurational approach creates combined responsibilities, assesses areas of collaboration, and fosters interaction across the organization. A competitive approach creates unclear responsibilities and exchange, perceives no added value in integration and follows separated implementation of Lean and Digitalization programs. Originality/value: This study sheds light on the boundaries of Lean and Digitalization programs and identifies activities to manage them. We derive propositions for the Lean and Digitalization program management. Scholarly understanding of what "journalism" is has long been shaped by discourse on what "hard news" or political journalism entails. Less academic attention has been paid to perceived alternative forms of journalism, such as lifestyle journalism. This study aims to investigate how lifestyle journalists construct their professional identity in the context of a grand narrative of journalism that has been dominantly shaped by ideals related to politics, democracy, and the public sphere. Through 31 interviews with Singaporean lifestyle journalists, this study found that lifestyle journalists subscribe to both in-group and out-group discourses, where they simultaneously place themselves within but also outside the boundaries of journalism. However, the lifestyle journalists also articulate an alternative emerging discourse of a standalone-group, where lifestyle journalism should be seen as a profession completely divorced from normative understandings of journalism. As more people work outside standard employment, the foundations of work solidarity are contested. How does work solidarity arise in atypical forms of work that are characterised by flexible, autonomous and self-dependent organisation, such as in solo self-employment? Drawing on a discursive approach to work solidarity, this article emphasises how market dependence can serve as a boundary construction to create work solidarity. Empirically, this study engages in a discourse analysis on Soforthilfe, a policy measure introduced by the German government to financially assist solo self-employed people during the Covid-19 lockdown. In this discourse, market dependence serves to identify this social group's need (social boundary) and to set out the corresponding policies for financial assistance (substantive boundary). Four solidarity norms – relief, equality, preservation and quasi-equivalence – support this boundary construction. Archaeological heritage sites are a special object of real estate; they have a particular legal status and state protection issues. This article describes the state cadastral registration of archaeological monuments and sites, as well as the function of the state cadaster in their protection by the state. The registration procedure for state protection includes a number of measures. For instance, land plots that contain an archeological monument in their boundaries are subject to encumbrance or restriction of ownership rights. Certain information about cultural heritage sites cannot be published openly if the site enters the Unified State Register of Cultural Heritage of the Nations of the Russian Federation. The author how the Kemerovo Region and other regions register their archaeological monuments and sites in the Russian State Register (Rosreestr), the State Land Registry (Roskadastr), and the Unified State Register of Real Estate. The current procedure for state cadastral registration needs some improvements in relation to archaeological heritage sites. Under the modern conditions, the ban on publishing the location of archaeological sites is ineffective.

A growing body of research suggests that the contemporary media environment enables motivated reasoning, which intensifies affective polarization. This is especially the case in the U.S., where elections are capital-intensive and media are largely commercially owned. From a normative perspective, these commercial forces may interfere with authentic communication by hijacking the “lifeworld” and thus undermining the sincerity of our speech. From a psychological and empirical perspective, this means we are an affective public steeping in “hot cognitions” that unconsciously motivate us toward processing (mis)information in biased and distorted ways. This kind of cognitive limitation intensifies as current affairs heat up, but starts well before, as a function of media market boundaries aligning with human psychology. Through a synthetic literature review of theory and empirical research, this essay argues that “social identity complexity” may help to overcome some of the worst outcomes of motivated reasoning, pointing toward a developmental basis for more authentic communication in the public sphere.

Most executive coaches are not therapeutically trained and there is concern that they might have difficulty identifying and managing boundaries with therapy. This study explores how executive coaches from a non-psychology background experience the boundary. Using Q methodology, coaches ranked statements representing the range of responses to working with the boundary and overlap, leading to a proposed typology of how practitioners perceive and work in this space. Four types of practitioners were identified: Conscious, Confused, Conscientious and Confident. The typology offers executive coaching stakeholders a framework for reflection and discussion to further consider the issue in practice.

This research adds to the literature on how coaches navigate the boundaries between therapy and coaching. It gathers the first-person perspectives of coaches who are also trained in Transactional Analysis (TA), following a constructivist grounded theory (CGT) methodology. Findings highlight the responsibility of the coach to identify the boundaries; contracting and re-contracting to maintain psychological safety and maintaining a high degree of self-awareness to walk the line between work appropriate for coaching and therapy. Among the implications for coaching practice are considerations about the use of language and terminology and managing the power dynamic of the coaching dyad.

Participation of the parties in works related to the boundaries a˛ects the determination of boundaries according to the owners’ consistent indications, or allows for an appropriate reaction when determining the boundary points of the previously ~xed boundaries, i.e. referring the case to court in the event of a dispute regarding the location of boundary marks. It is important that the owners of neighboring parcels know their boundaries before any investment activities. The lack of this knowledge combined with the lack of legal security regarding boundaries in the event of con˚icts between owners of neighboring parcels may result in, in addition to sending the case to court, serious consequences, e.g. demolition of a fence built in the wrong place, demolition of a house built too close to the boundary. The legal solutions discussed here concern the Polish cadastre, but the issue itself can be said to go beyond the local scale as it potentially concerns the problem of properly determining the scope of ownership rights (boundaries) to parcels in other countries. The article discusses and analyzes the documentation prepared by licensed surveyors in the context of the validity of applicable boundary procedures in Poland regarding the participation of the parties in these activities. Analyzes have proven that focusing these procedures on correctly notifying the parties about given boundary activities is not the right approach. Such solutions only bring results in terms of correctly notifying the parties about the activities and do not lead to their actual participation in them.

The Assertiveness Training Program seeks to cultivate a balanced and constructive approach to workplace communication, empowering participants with the skills needed to navigate conversations effectively. Existing studies have examined unhealthy food packaging information, mainly focusing on aspects such as the content, color, and text, whilst paying less attention to the boundaries of information. This paper investigates unhealthy foods through three experiments, revealing that the presence (vs. absence) of packaging information boundaries on unhealthy foods has a negative impact on consumers' purchasing intentions (p = 0.040) (Experiment 1). The feeling of constraint mediates this effect (β = −0.078, CI: [−0.1911, −0.0111]) (Experiment 2). Additionally, consumers with an independent self-construal exhibit reduced purchasing intentions when unhealthy food packaging information boundaries are present (vs. absent) (p < 0.001), whereas those with an interdependent self-construal show increased purchasing intentions under the same conditions (p = 0.024) (Experiment 3). Irregular boundaries in image stitching naturally occur due to freely moving cameras. To deal with this problem, existing methods focus on optimizing mesh warping to make boundaries regular using the traditional explicit solution. However, previous methods always depend on hand-crafted features (e.g., keypoints and line segments). Thus, failures often happen in overlapping regions without distinctive features. In this paper, we address this problem by proposing RecStitchNet, a reasonable and effective network for image stitching with rectangular boundaries. Considering that both stitching and imposing rectangularity are non-trivial tasks in the learning-based framework, we propose a three-step progressive learning based strategy, which not only simplifies this task, but gradually achieves a good balance between stitching and imposing rectangularity. In the first step, we perform initial stitching by a pre-trained state-of-the-art image stitching model, to produce initially warped stitching results without considering the boundary constraint. Then, we use a regression network with a comprehensive objective regarding mesh, perception, and shape to further encourage the stitched meshes to have rectangular boundaries with high content fidelity. Finally, we propose an unsupervised instance-wise optimization strategy to refine the stitched meshes iteratively, which can effectively improve the stitching results in terms of feature alignment, as well as boundary and structure preservation. Due to the lack of stitching datasets and the difficulty of label generation, we propose to generate a stitching dataset with rectangular stitched images as pseudo-ground-truth labels, and the performance upper bound induced from the it can be broken by our unsupervised refinement. The central aim of the current study is to further the understanding of how therapists identify and understand erotic transference in therapy, and how they perceive it to influence the therapeutic processes and alliance. Answers were analyzed thematically using an open-coding analysis. A total of 116 therapists participated in the study reflecting on how erotic transference is experienced in the therapeutic setting. Data analysis yielded three main themes: (1) threat; (2) boundaries; and (3) growth. The threat theme included two subthemes: Threat to the therapeutic process and threat to the therapist’s professional-esteem. Growth also consisted of two subthemes: development of the therapist and opportunity for insight (into the inner world of the patient). The present study subscribes to the idea that erotic transference is a significant aspect of the therapeutic setting and, if addressed appropriately and more comprehensively, can have a great impact on the patient’s healing process. This article draws on the understudied oral testimonies collected by Guanbao Shen and Ling Li in 1997 and 1998 to discuss the diasporic practices and cultural identifications of Shanghainese seamen in Liverpool, a community that has received less scholarly attention than other overseas Chinese communities. The Shanghainese seafarers are marked by three important characteristics—provenance, profession, and intermarriage, adding to the diversity and uniqueness of their diasporic practices. The discussions revolve around the wider social meanings and purposes of Chinese food-centered practices, return to the home country and negotiation of multiple boundaries among the Shanghainese seafarers. It is argued that the prosaic and festive eating and cooking of Chinese food is employed to (re)create ethnicity, resume the state of relatedness and strengthen the intergenerational bond, and that the return to the origin of birth could potentially disrupt an idealized and imagined conception of the homeland. Shanghainese seamen's individual and collective negotiation of ethnic boundaries features complicated entanglement and thus permeability and fluidity, which echoes Ien Ang's call for moving beyond diaspora into hybridity. Polish Tatars are a minority Muslim community who have lived on the Eastern borderlands of Poland for over 600 years, forming an integral part of Poland despite distinct social and religious customs. I argue that food practices among Polish Tatars in the Podlasie region, rather than being merely a symbolic means of expressing difference, actively create community as forces of both exclusion and inclusion. Affective bonds are reinforced through the bringing together of individuals in the space of the kitchen to cook and consume Polish Tatar food during holidays, but fears of assimilation and loss of identity are reinforced by a perceived weakening of these practices among the youth. Food practices in restaurants represent the community as a type of familiar alterity that is both distinct from, and yet a part of, wider Polish society, while simultaneously mosques complicate binary conceptions of food as belonging exclusively to one group. The contested consumption of pork and alcohol connects Polish Tatars to the wider Polish population as "our Muslims," while also creating boundaries with non-Tatar Muslims. The field of higher education (HE) is characterized by diversity stemming from multiple sources. Diversity results in boundaries that carry the potential to promote personal and professional development for HE students. Boundaries also offer the possibility of learning generic skills and planning and carrying out challenging tasks that require collaborative problem solving in multidisciplinary teams. Drawing upon the theory of boundary crossing, this study aims to identify the kinds of boundaries that HE students experience during a multidisciplinary online course on forest bioeconomy and how they manage these boundaries in terms of boundary crossing while collaboratively solving an ill-defined development challenge set by a working life organization. The data consist of in-depth interviews with student teams (N = 20). The course of treatment of a patient suffering from a moderate depressive episode, somatization disorder and narcissistic neurosis structure is described. The treatment, which takes place over 300 sessions in an individual analytical setting, reveals deep-rooted conflicts of self-worth and a strong dependence on the approval of others. Through the therapeutic work, the patient succeeds in recognizing and working through his inner conflicts, which helps him to better understand and shape himself and his relationships with others. In this paper, we present the view that an ontological shift to complexity thinking will be significant in the future of physical education (PE). Complexity thinking not only moves PE beyond long dominant modernist approaches but also offers the opportunity to integrate many of the postmodern perspectives that currently seek to frame PE. Four interconnected complexity commonalities, becoming, lived time, self-organisation and boundaries, are presented in an overarching frame to guide future PE developments in ways that are coherent, connected and emergent. PE is subsequently viewed as a complex phenomenon that is always in a non-linear, messy and never-ending process of becoming. Students, teachers and other stakeholders are also complex as their past, present and future experiences constantly merge in a lived time unity to create lifelong and life-wide PE journeys that are both personalised and holistic. Central to these personalised journeys is each stakeholder's ability to self-organise and influence the trajectory of their pathways. Self-organisation, however, is not a relativist 'anything goes' phenomenon but a process that takes place within a multiplicity of boundaries. While boundaries may traditionally be viewed as divisive features, complexity thinking recognises that many boundaries are flexible and enable the creation of 'boundary spaces' in which 'rich' discussions can take place to develop more coherent, connected and emergent forms of PE. Transdisciplinary Inquiry (TDI) and Ecologically Informed Practice (EIP) are presented as perspectives that can help teachers, and others, create the 'boundary spaces' in which ways to plan and introduce complexity-informed forms of PE can be explored. The paper concludes by proposing that the challenge for PE in the future will be for practitioners to develop the adaptability, openness, confidence and self-organising skills that will be needed to make the most effective use of the 'rich interactions' that these 'boundary spaces' offer. This review examines cultural production and consumption through the lens of race and ethnicity. Although the sociological study of race, ethnicity, and cultural production and consumption (RECPC) is growing, it is scattered across various subfields. This review aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how race and ethnicity intersect with cultural production and consumption by bringing this scholarship together. I discuss five dominant themes in the scholarship: classification, valuation and evaluation, representations, market outcomes, and cultural capital. The FABC recommends the exercise of dialogue in three different areas of life in Asia: (i) dialogue with the Asian poor, (ii) intercultural dialogue and (iii) interreligious dialogue. Interreligious dialogue, which is the subject of our discussion, is classified into four types: Dialogue of life, Dialogue of action, Dialogue of theological exchange and Dialogue of religious experience. Employing the analytical and critical methodology, this paper aims at investigating various paradigms of interreligious dialogue that have been practiced down through the centuries, in view of developing a most feasible paradigm, based on the writings of Hans-Georg Gadamer. Accordingly, we have critically analysed the following models: (i) the ideal of both/and (Hegel), and (ii) the ideal of either/or (Kierkegaard), (iii) the metaphor of two books (Bonaventure), (iv) the intercultural hermeneutics (Schleiermacher and Gadamer), and (v) the fusion of horizons (Heidegger and Gadamer). Finally, our discussions boil down to Hans-Georg Gadamer’s understanding of “fusion of horizons” and its implications in interreligious dialogue. According to Gadamer, “to acquire a horizon means that one learns to look beyond what is close at hand.” A genuine fusion of horizons through dialogue always involves rising to a higher universality that overcomes our own particularity and that of the other. A fusion of horizons thus envisages respect for the differences of different religions. Here, one does not try to acquire mastery over the other and other religions based on our pre-judgments, rather strive to partake in the other and share the other’s alterity. In order to foster interreligious dialogue as “fusion of horizons, we have to shun “ethnocentrism,” and cultivate certain essential qualities like (i) openness to change, (ii) interreligious consciousness, and (iii) empathetic understanding. To conclude, the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, in “Dialogue and Proclamation,” advocates the people living in religious pluralistic societies to engage in meaningful dialogue for “the integral development and liberation of all people.” [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This theoretical manuscript acknowledges the three-circle model for agricultural education as an enduring guide for student success. To complement the three-circle model, authors adapted "donut economics" to craft the donut model for agriculture teacher success. Within the proposed model, teacher success is defined as a level of productivity which exists between teacheridentified lower bounds (i.e., levels of productivity which minimally meet their definition of "success") and upper bounds (i.e., levels of productivity exceeding limits created by other work and life responsibilities). Furthermore, teacher success includes having ample margin between lower and upper bounds, affording flexible and intentional allocation of time, energy, and emotion across work and life dimensions for the betterment of self, students, and society. Linkages between the proposed model, teacher satisfaction, teacher retention, and teacher attrition are also explored, suggesting the model may inform ongoing efforts to address the sustained agriculture teacher shortage. The manuscript concludes by exploring the practical utility of the donut model for agriculture teacher success, foregrounding how agriculture teachers can develop, evaluate, and communicate their own donut model.
