This essay makes the case for engaging in counter-narratives and inclusive storytelling within the transactional clinic curriculum. The authors leverage lessons from Critical Race Theory to amplify the voices and experiences of underrepresented entrepreneurs and marginalized communities in both clinic seminar and selected casework. In doing so, we challenge hegemonic narratives of entrepreneurship and expose our law students to the presence and impact of interlocking systems of subordination that minimize the existence and contributions of entrepreneurs of color. The story of Theranos and disgraced CEO Elizabeth Holmes highlights numerous missed opportunities for effective intervention by corporate counsel. In particular, the lawyers at Theranos served as weak gate-keepers who were easily steamrolled by a power-drunk entrepreneur. The dominant business law pedagogy contributes to this problem by emphasizing litigation mitigation as the primary function of corporate lawyers. This framing improperly minimizes the role and influence of transactional attorneys to the detriment of all involved. Law Professors can change this narrative through much needed pedagogical innovation. Currently, any innovation in business law courses centers on the incorporation of drafting and other lawyering skills. While a valuable component of preparation for practice, this approach is incomplete. I argue that contextualizing the role of corporate counsel in practice is a core competency for law students. By doing so, we introduce students to the challenges and expectations of transactional practice that are often unaddressed by case law. The United States, among the wealthiest and most prosperous nations in the world, regularly fails to provide clean, potable water to many of its citizens. Recent water crises occur within communities categorized as Geographically Disadvantaged Spaces ("GDS"), which often encompass urban and rural areas. What is more, people of color and economically vulnerable populations are often located within GDS, disproportionately burdening these groups with the economic and public health consequences of failing water infrastructure. This Article provides a novel, comparative analysis of communities lacking potable water in Flint, Michigan, and southern West Virginia. This analysis highlights entrenched structural problems present in rural and urban contexts, as implicating compound socioeconomic and race-related inequalities that transcend such seeming geographic divides. Lastly, this Article advocates for infrastructure development policies that address the underlying structural issues plaguing GDS--both rural and urban--and examines whether the Green New Deal could serve as an effective solution. This Article will address a pervasive and growing problem for returning citizens--high rates of economic insecurity-- and, as a novel solution, propose the creation of Economic Justice Incubators ("EJIs ") as a new, municipally-led social enterprise strategy. Mass incarceration is a national problem and requires comprehensive criminal justice reform. In contrast, the reentry process is locally focused due to a complex web of collateral consequences arising from state and local laws. An estimated 641,000 people return home from prison each year, many to economically distressed communities. Once released, the terms of their parole and the collateral consequences associated with their conviction restrict their mobility. Successful reentry initiatives require strong community and local government investment dedicated to supporting returning citizens post-release. Without targeted, short-term policy solutions, these individuals will remain trapped within the cycle of poverty and criminalization that pervades these disadvantaged geographic spaces. This Article will focus on one major obstacle that repeatedly impedes successful reentry: economic insecurity and disenfranchisement from viable employment opportunities. The existing nonprofit model is intrinsically flawed as a means of economic enfranchisement because it fails to adapt to the lack of available jobs within disadvantaged geographic spaces and the larger transition to a knowledge-based economy. As a new strategy, this Article will propose municipally-led EJIs to support returning citizen entrepreneurs. Many local governments currently incubate and accelerate businesses as part of a growing local economic development strategy, often using public funds and resources to support these private enterprises. The article explores transactional law clinics that provide pro-bono corporate and transactional legal services to entities that cannot afford private counsel. Topics discussed include the different contexts of social justice lawyering and transactional law, changes in law clinics under the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, community projects of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Clinic (EILC) and creating a supportive and open environment to reduce tensions in the classroom.

It mentions that benefits of worker cooperatives to individual workers and the community and the challenges and obstacles faced by today's worker cooperatives.
